Subway Responds To The Controversy Surrounding Its Tuna Sandwich

Earlier this week, the New York Times threw gallons of gasoline on Subway’s Northern California tuna lawsuit by releasing a report from an independent study that analyzed the DNA of the sandwich restaurant chain’s tuna. The report found that there was no tuna DNA present in any part of the “60 inches worth of Subway tuna sandwiches” that were tested, and upon hearing that, many people ran off with jokes about Subway serving fake tuna to its customers.

As previously reported, the NYT’s report also presented an extremely important caveat, in which the people behind the study admitted that DNA testing may not be the most accurate test to find out what Subway’s tuna is made out of. “There’s two conclusions. One, it’s so heavily processed that whatever we could pull out, we couldn’t make an identification,”  one of the lab workers revealed. “Or we got some and there’s just nothing there that’s tuna.”

A recent lab analysis of tuna used in Subway sandwiches commissioned by the New York Times did not reveal any tuna DNA in samples taken from Subway tuna sandwiches. The lab was unable to pinpoint a species in the tuna samples from three Los Angeles area Subway sandwich shops.

Regardless of how bad the situation may currently look, however, Subway is still adamant that their now-infamous tuna is in fact “100% wild-caught, cooked tuna.” According to Complex, Subway has responded to the controversy by releasing the following statement:

A recent New York Times report indicates that DNA testing is an unreliable methodology for identifying processed tuna. This report supports and reflects the position that Subway has taken in relation to a meritless lawsuit filed in California and with respect to DNA testing as a means to identify cooked proteins. DNA testing is simply not a reliable way to identify denatured proteins, like Subway’s tuna, which was cooked before it was tested.

Unfortunately, various media outlets have confused the inability of DNA testing to confirm a specific protein with a determination that the protein is not present. The testing that the New York Times report references does not show that there is not tuna in Subway’s tuna. All it says is that the testing could not confirm tuna, which is what one would expect from a DNA test of denatured proteins.

Are you buying Subway’s stance on the situation or are you still skeptical as to what the sandwich restaurant chain’s tune is made out of?

DaBaby’s Baby Mama MeMe Makes It Clear She Isn’t Involved In His Drama

Regardless of the criticism he may receive from the public, the mother of DaBaby’s daughter, MeMe, is going to stick by his side. The North Carolina rapper has been taking a few hits from the public following his “SKAT” collaboration with Tory Lanez, and now that he and longtime collaborator Megan Thee Stallion no longer follow one another on social media anymore, the Houston rapper’s fanbase has been on the attack.

DaBaby has taken the drama in stride and now MeMe has come forward to suggest that their family unit is locked in and there’s nothing anyone can say that can shake her support.

MeMe posted a photo of herself with DaBaby along with their daughter who is seen holding up her middle finger. “Them: Yo babydaddy dis, yo babydaddy dat…” MeMe wrote over the image. “Me:[eye roll emoji] Renny … respond for mommy please.” In another Instagram Story slide, MeMe added, “Respect my peace …. Cause I ont give a f*ck about nunnadatshi [smiling emoji][halo emoji].”

MeMe never backs down when it comes to defending the famous father of her child or their relationship, and she proved that last year when she went toe-to-toe with DaniLeigh on social media. DaBaby and DaniLeigh were just going public with their romance when MeMe kicked up dust with the singer online. Check out MeMe’s posts below.

Tigger wanted to know about her upcoming project that was slated for release this week and Saweetie revealed that there is a bit of a delay. “Yes, PBM was supposed to come out this month, but I was really living with it,” she said. “And one of my goals is for people to really feel something with every song, so I had to go back and reconstruct some songs. Just know that I’m a perfectionist and it’s on the way.”

Elsewhere, Saweetie talked about fame and having her every move watched by the public. “The eyeballs, being under a microscope,” she said. “Every little thing that you do, someone’s report, it can be taken out of context, even Big Tig was saying earlier, Cancel Culture. So, I just feel like, we work so hard to reap the benefits but then, at least for me, I just feel like I’m always being watched and I have to be hyper-aware, and sometimes I feel like I can’t even enjoy some of my moments because there’s just so much opinions.”

Watch Saweetie’s interview in full below and make sure to tune into the BET Awards on June 27.

If there is something Boosie Badazz needs, rest assured he will take to the internet to ask millions of strangers if they can provide. Boosie is hailed as one of the funniest rappers in the industry and it seems that most of the time, it’s unintentional. The public loves Boosie’s authenticity and relatability, and recently, he once again proved he’s not above anyone else when he made a public plea to borrow someone’s car for a few days.

“I lost my identification,” a frustrated Bossie said in the clip. “I can’t get a f*ckin rental car. I’m in Orlando.”

Joyner Lucas Grows Up To Be ‘Legend’ With Rick Ross In Their Celebratory Video

After taking a couple of years longer than expected to release his 2020 debut album, ADHD, Joyner Lucas kept his foot on the gas and closed out the year with another project, Evolution. The Massachusetts native dropped the 12-track effort with features from The Game, Ashanti, Rick Ross, Elijah James, and more. Now, nearly a year after it was released, Lucas reappears with a video for “Legend” with Rick Ross. The new visual captures Lucas’ growth from a young man with hopes of thriving in music to an adult living out his dreams as a prospering rapper. Ross joins him later on in the video as they both enjoy the fruits of their labors.

The new visual, which also boasts cameos from T.I. and his son Domani, comes after was joined by fellow Massachusetts native Mark Wahlberg in the video for “Zim Zimma.” In that effort, which also featured appearances from Diddy and George Lopez, Walhberg crashed the rapper’s car during a high-speed cruise. Prior to that, Lucas connected with Lil Baby to celebrate their rise to fame in the video for “Ramen & OJ.”

As for Rick Ross, the Maybach Music head honcho has been teasing a joint project with Drake for some time now. During an interview with Complex, he gave somewhat of an update on the potential effort. “He’s wrapping up his project and I’m in the same space. So the timing and everything is aligning,” he said. “It’s something that we really want to give to the streets, on some real sh*t.”

Justin Timberlake Voices His Support For The End Of Britney Spears’ Conservatorship

On Wednesday, Britney Spears appeared at a court hearing on the subject of her conservatorship, which is now in its 13th year. The singer asked a judge to terminate it, deeming it “abusive” as well as restrictive on her desired lifestyle. “I’ve been in denial,” she admitted. “I’ve been in shock. I am traumatized. I just want my life back.” A number of stars from the music world stepped forward to show their support — including her ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake.

“After what we saw today, we should all be supporting Britney at this time,” he wrote on Twitter. “Regardless of our past, good and bad, and no matter how long ago it was… what’s happening to her is just not right. No woman should ever be restricted from making decisions about her own body.” He added, “No one should EVER be held against their will… or ever have to ask permission to access everything they’ve worked so hard for.”

To conclude, Timberlake added that his wife, Jessica Biel, is also in support of the singer’s freedom from the conservatorship. “Jess and I send our love, and our absolute support to Britney during this time,” he wrote. “We hope the courts, and her family make this right and let her live however she wants to live.”

Ray J Poses With Bill Clinton As The Two Link For A Selfie

For decades, there has been a running joke-non-joke that everyone in Hollywood is connected by “Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon.” In essence, it just means that you can connect any two celebrities in the industry through some sort of professional or personal connection to Kevin Bacon, but it’s becoming clear that as the years move on, Ray J might be taking over the actor’s place in that cultural phenomenon.

Hip Hop has long discussed Ray J’s affiliation with and to various aspects of the entertainment industry as he’s grown from a child star to musician to business mogul to reality TV staple, and most recently, people have debated whether or not he holds any responsibility in the East Coast vs. West Coast Rap beef between Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur.

While social media continues that debate, the Love & Hip Hop star popped up on Instagram to show that he’s kicking things up a notch. Adding to the chatter about his connections, the singer shared a selfie with former President Bill Clinton and, of course, he made sure to promote his brands in the caption to his photo with the politician.

“Presidential Marketing!! #BILLCLINTON #newyorkcity He wants the red white and blue @rayconglobal earbuds!!! — I GOT YOU BILLI!!” Ray wrote. In his comments, wife Princess Love was there with a dozen or so supportive fire emojis. Check out Ray J’s iconic moment below.

Paloma Ford Shares Visual To Rick Ross-Assisted Single, “All For Nothing”

Back in August 2020, we were in the thick of quarantine, but by the late summer, artists fell into a new groove with how and when they were releasing new music. It was then that Paloma Ford shared her sophomore project X Tapes, and while we’re quickly approaching the year anniversary of the record’s release, Ford has returned with a visual to her collaboration with Rick Ross.

The singer and the Florida rapper star in the Chandler Lass-directed visual and Rozay previously spoke about what it was like filming the clip. “When I pulled up on the set, Paloma told me the concept and it was so clean, so classic,” he told Billboard. “When I use the word simple, I love that word because it means I understood it from the very first statement. It was extremely clear. The record is incredible, so make sure you stream and vibe to it right now.”

Elsewhere, Paloma Ford spoke of her track with Ross and why it was important for her to take the time to create a music video for the single. “’All For Nothing’ is the lead track for X TAPES and reflects the essence of the project. It’s the climax to a moment where things fall apart, and you have the choice to move past it or bask in the loss,” she said.

“It’s about having that true moment of honesty with yourself. I wanted the concept to be as strong as the lyrics and the message in the song and reflect my journey through love, loss, and the power behind these moments.” Stream the music video for Paloma Ford’s “All For Nothing” featuring Rick Ross and let us know what you think.
