Bobby Brown & Keith Sweat Poised For The Next “Verzuz”

As we celebrate the Verzuz series for hosting dozens of our favorite artists from Soul to Hip Hop to R&B to Rap, fans still have lists of artists that they want to see take the stage. There has been a mysterious date looming with guests who had yet to be identified, and on Tuesday (June 29), it was announced that the next set of artists bringing their favorite hits to Verzuz will be two icons: Bobby Brown and Keith Sweat.

The catalogs of these two R&B legends speak for themselves and fans are excited to see what Brown and Sweat come up with this week.

According to The Shade Room, this Verzuz will be presented via the Essence Festival of Culture, an event that will take place virtually on Thursday, July 1. This is a quick back-to-back Verzuz as we just watched Bow Wow and Soulja Boy rake in millions of views when they came together in Los Angeles last weekend in an entertaining performance that included a host of famous guests who stole the show.

It will be interesting to see whether or not Bobby Brown or Keith Sweat will bring out any special guests, as well, and fans are already predicting a New Edition or LSG reunion. At least, they’re crossing their fingers. Check out the announcement below and let us know if you’re looking forward to this one.

Pooh Shiesty’s Instagram Used As Evidence In Florida Shooting Case: Report

2021 was supposed to be the year when 1017 reclaimed their place in trap music. With Gucci Mane’s relaunch of the label, the latest line-up of artists was well on their way to carving out their space in the current landscape of trap music. Pooh Shiesty was leading the charge as “Back In Blood” remains in constant rotation but unfortunately, his legal matters have put a hold on his budding career.

According to Miami Herald, the rapper indictment has been handed down in relation to a shooting in October 2020 in Bay Harbor Islands, Florida. Photos taken from the rapper’s Instagram page were used as evidence in his indictment. Investigators said that one of the photos shows the rappers showing off “several long rifles and plethora of $100.00 bills.” One of the bills, investigators said, matched the serial numbers of a bill that was inside of a Louis Vuitton bag that fell out of the McLaren he’s accused of driving at the time of the shooting.

The indictment charged Pooh Shiesty with discharging a firearm during a violent crime, conspiracy, and robbery. The rapper was taken into federal custody.

Saam Zangeneh, the attorney for the Shiesty Season rapper, told reporters earlier this month that they expected charges would be laid. However, Shiesty maintains his innocence. “We have been in communication with the U.S. Attorney’s Office and we believe they have a federal detainer on him and are likely to file federal charges,” said Zangenah. “That doesn’t change our position as to his 100 percent innocence, in both state and federal matters.”

Lil Loaded Dons Purp And Gold In “24 Kobe” Video

It hasn’t even been a full month since Texas rapper Lil Loaded committed suicide at the ripe age of 20. Yet, here we are, with a haunting new track and video to accompany.

“24 Kobe” is bleak in every sense of the word. Starting off with a pair of kids, one in an old LeBron shirt and the other wearing a Laker one, shooting on the blacktop into a bottomless shopping basket. The hi-hats hiss as his voice kicks in, rapping, “2-4 Kobe, I ain’t ate in days,” which is genuinely the hardest bar that anyone may have ever rapped about the late basketball star. Seriously, how has nobody said that yet?

He goes on to rap about the affinity he has for his grandmother who died (“My granny live by the Lord so, why she pass away? And Dorse you a legend, think about you ’til this day). The track truly exceeds emotion, needless to say knowing he’s no longer around to share more of it.

Rising Compton Star Azjah Releases “1:03 A.M.”

Azjah might not have reached mainstream consciousness yet but it’ll happen with time. The rising Compton singer has been winning over audiences with projects like Princess Diaries and 2020’s ON ONE. Between the regional buzz she’s secured in Los Angeles and the critical acclaim she’s earned, Azjah is well on her way to becoming the next artist to blow out of CPT.

On Friday, Azjah came through with her latest and biggest project to date, 1:03 A.M. The rapper’s latest project includes the recently released singles, March’s “Purple Reign” and “Soul Ties” which arrived a week before the album. Though features are kept minimal, Azjah taps Mayhrenate and Yung Bleu who appears on “Nobody.”

Check out Azjah’s latest project below and let us know your thoughts in the comments.

Summer Walker & Omarion Hint At New Music Together

On top of recently getting in the booth with Top Dawg’s SZA, “Girls Need Love” star Summer Walker is already in there again. This time, though, with a different R&B sensation in Omarion.

Relatively quiet since the release of critically hailed Over It back in 2019, that much can truly only be said from a music standpoint. The singer has often been outspoken on social media, especially last year through the dawn of COVID. Nevertheless, opinions and talent are luckily simple to navigate between, and seeing the three of these work together is bound to lead to good results.

As far as the other artists are concerned, Omarion recently announced the Millenium Tour with Bow Wow, the Ying Yang Twins, Soulja Boy and what seems to be every beloved, niche favorite from the mid-2000s.

Somehow, even more exciting than a tour featuring all those nostalgia-inducing names, SZA is set to reveal material from her upcoming album at a virtual music event on July 1. While the album is unnamed, it is set to be released this year, leaving fans in a daze regarding what’s to come.

But, when it comes to these artists working together, fans on Twitter are beyond excited to see the results to come. Some for different reasons than others, let’s just say.

While everyone seems pretty excited, that first guy might be a bit disappointed. Which collab are you looking forward to more?

Lil Baby And Lil Durk Hit The Club In Their Debauched ‘Man Of My Word’ Video

Lil Baby and Lil Durk’s joint album https://qualitycontrol.lnk.to/TheVoiceoftheHeroes” target=”_blank” title=””>The Voice Of The Heroes debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart, and the dynamic duo is keeping that momentum going into the upcoming autumn touring season with their Back Outside Tour kicking off this September. In addition to that announcement, they’ve opted to share another music video from the album to keep anticipation (and streaming numbers) high, taking over the club in their video for “Man Of My Word.”

The video features all of the two rappers’ favorite things: Fast cars, gigantic stacks of money, and women — this time in the form of the dancers at the gentleman’s club in which the video is set as they make it rain. Meanwhile, the debauchery is intercut with scenes of CGI cars racing through the nighttime streets.

Even as Baby and Durk continue to promote their joint album, they’ve both kept busy on the solo end, as well. Durk recently featured on Polo G’s “No Return” from the young Chicagoan’s third album Hall Of Fame and on the F9 soundtrack single “Fast Lane” with Don Toliver and Latto, while Baby popped up on a soundtrack of his own, offering the Space Jam sequel “We Win” with Kirk Franklin. Among the things he’s won: ASCAP’s 2021 Songwriter Of The Year.

The Kids In Tyler The Creator’s Unhinged ‘Corso’ Video Really Don’t Appreciate The Free Show He Gave Them

The adventures of Tyler Baudelaire continue in the latest video from Tyler The Creator’s new album, Call Me If You Get Lost. This time, the bawdy, braggadocious alter ego Tyler The Creator is using this album cycle, winds up taking over a child’s birthday party with a loose-limbed live performance backed by DJ Drama in “Corso.”

The video opens with a pair of youngsters stuck outside a restaurant, experiencing bike trouble. Ty’s wicked sense of humor is fully on display here, as these two have very little to do with the goings-on inside, where a children’s birthday party is looking mighty glum. One of the parents begs Tyler to perform a song — thus making his child the “coolest kid in the whole school” — prompting the rapper, bedecked in his suit, shades, and furry hat (fun fact: those are called “Ushanka” hats) to take over the DJ’s table (where Drama is spinning but appreciative), and proceed to deliver an energetic performance, standing on tables and giving his all.

Unfortunately, the kids don’t seem to appreciate it much, watching stone-faced as he expends all his energy, winding up slumped on the floor. Eventually, he gets up, receives profuse thanks from the dad who initially asked him to perform, and the video closes where it began, with the two boys still stuck outside. I don’t know if there’s an overarching narrative to videos like this one, “Lumberjack,” “Juggernaut,” or “Wusyaname,” to say nothing of sketches like “Side Street” and “Brown Sugar Salmon,” but this rollout has offered some fascinating-looking visual components, and the chance to hear T just plain rap again.
