Dua Lipa Brings Confident Disco Vibes To The New Pop Smoke Album On Their Collaboration, ‘Demeanor’

The first posthumous album from Pop Smoke, last year’s Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon, had a who’s-who of talent in its tracklist. The rapper’s latest posthumous effort, the newly released Faith, brings even more people into the fold. Among those is Dua Lipa, who lends her vocal talents to “Demeanor.”

The track has a funky groove (which would feel at home on Lipa’s recent disco-inspired output) that is accompanied by some woozy vibes and rhythmic verses from Pop Smoke. Instead of providing a hook, as might be expected on this sort of collaboration, Lipa gets her own verse, on which she confidently sings, “You can’t say pop without smoke / So fill up with your lungs, my diamonds will make you choke / You like the way I move / My demeanor is meaner than yours / So clap for the encore.”

Aside from Lipa, the album also features Kanye West, Pusha T, Rick Ross, The-Dream, 42 Dugg, 21 Savage, Rah Swish, Travi, Beam, Bizzy Banks, Takeoff, Lil Tjay, Swae Lee, Future, Pharrell, Kid Cudi, Quavo, and Kodak Black.

Pop Smoke “Faith” Album Reactions

The second posthumous album from Pop Smoke has arrived, titled Faith. Showcasing the rapper’s potential for greatness as he mercilessly sharpened his skills as a recording artist, the late 20-year-old’s blank spots were filled with some of the music industry’s strongest forces, including Kanye West, Pusha-T, Kid Cudi, Pharrell, Chris Brown, Future, Dua Lipa, and more. The Brooklyn drill star’s team managed to effect one of the most creative rollouts of the year, revealing the tracklist through a series of virtual lottery scratch cards, and uncovering some new music via QR codes hidden in promotional street posters.

As the world dissects the new album, people have been sharing their opinions about the twenty-track body of work. Starting off with a foreword from Pop’s mother, we’re led into the solo track “More Time,” which seamlessly transitions into “Tell The Vision” with Kanye and Push. Then, “Manslaughter” with Rick Ross and The-Dream brings us a single vibe before running off into some other highly-anticipated songs. With a deluxe edition on the way too, we’re really being blessed with the contents of Pop’s vault.

The reception has been divided so far with some diehard fans wishing to have heard more from Pop Smoke, and less from the features. However, with so many unfinished songs in his catalog, this was likely the only way that his estate could realistically release these tracks. Others have gotten teary-eyed over the rapper’s mother’s introduction. And of course, a bunch of hip-hop fans are talking about how bittersweet this release really is.

Lil Durk Cozies Up To India Royale Following Shootout Reports

Earlier this week, it was reported that Lil Durk’s home in Atlanta had been surrounded by police following a mysterious incident, and on Thursday, TMZ revealed that the troubling situation had been caused by a violent shootout. As previously reported, several unidentified individuals allegedly broke into Lil Durk’s house, and although the identity and motives of the intruders haven’t been shared yet, it was made clear that Lil Durk and his fiancée, India Royale, discharged their weapons at the home invaders.

Thankfully, neither India nor Durk was harmed in the violent shootout, and in the wake of the news breaking about their gun-toting heroics, countless fans have been quick to call the Chicago couple “goals.”

Both of the celebrities have posted on social media since the incident took place early Sunday morning, but Lil Durk recently shared an Instagram story post following the news of him and his fiancée defending themselves in the shootout.

The photo shows Durk and India relaxing in the kitchen of what one can presume to be their Atlanta home, with the Voice of the Heroes rapper smiling up at the camera while holding India Royale closely. Posting a screenshot of the post to his Instagram, DJ Akademiks asks his followers, “Are [they] the best couple in the game rn ??”

Some fans have argued that “Drake and Amari moms >” than India Royale and Lil Durk, while others have joked, “You mean Mr. and Mrs. Smith.” Check out some of the best fan reactions to DJ Akademiks’ question below.

Pop Smoke & Future Are Naturals On “Mr. Jones.”

Pop Smoke’s self-titled album was released last night, his second posthumous project following Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon. Like its predecessor, Pop Smoke is replete with guest appearances, perhaps through necessity given the limited supply of material from the late superstar. And while some collaborations might feel disingenuous to some, it also highlights how universally respected Pop truly was.

“Mr. Jones,” not to be confused with the Counting Crows classic of the same name, features a guest appearance from Future, who also contributed to Shoot For The Stars. This time, the pair take to a hypnotic instrumental cooked up by JW Lucas, CashMoneyAP, Foreign Teck & LosTheProducer. The mysterious beat adds an alluring layer of mystique; not menacing, but vaguely melancholic. Both rappers know exactly how to plan their approach, with Pop and Future alike delivering laid-back but fluid reflections on high-life hedonism.

Despite being relatively low-key, “Mr. Jones” is an easy standout for those looking to kick back and catch a vibe. Pop Smoke and Future sound like kindred spirits on wax, sharing interests as well as cadential similarities, and it’s too bad they’re not able to further explore original material. Celebrate the late Pop Smoke by giving “Mr. Jones” a spin.

Pop Smoke Celebrates Success On “Tell The Vision” With Kanye West & Pusha-T

Pop Smoke’s second posthumous album has officially arrived, titled Faith. The album gives an in-depth look into Pop’s superstar-making process near the end of his life. Making his tragic demise no secret to the listener, Faith serves as a memorial project to Pop, filling in the blank spots he left behind on his demos with features from some of the music industry’s biggest names, including Kanye West and Pusha-T.

The album is sequenced very well, allowing each song to flow into the next almost seamlessly. By the time Kanye West begins blurting out random words at the beginning of “Tell The Vision,” the legendary musician introduces a raucous vibe before it slows down with Angie Martinez remembering the late Brooklyn drill star. Pop spits his catchy hook and verse before Pusha-T comes in, prematurely handing AOTY honors to Tyler, The Creator before claiming that Pop Smoke is about to swoop up that title posthumously. He also says that after Faith, he’s about to drop his own album, so we can all be on the lookout for a Pusha-T album in the coming weeks.

As bittersweet as it is to listen to new Pop Smoke music, his team did a great job in putting together this body of work. Check out Faith here and listen to “Tell The Vision” below.

Quotable Lyrics:

Look, Tyler got the album of the year, for now
But Pop about to drop, I see the platinum in the clouds

Now Push about to drop, so real trappers stick around
The crown is only for the king, they tryna place it on a clown

Syd Enjoys The Best Intimate Moments With Her Partner In A ‘Fast Car’

While her most recent work with The Internet, the band for which she serves as a lead vocalist, came in 2018 with Hive Mind, Syd’s lone solo album arrived in 2017 with Fin. Now, it appears that the singer may have another solo effort on the way as she returns with her second song of the year. Syd drops “Fast Car” with a breezy video that finds the singer and her partner enjoying intimate moments together from the comfort of a Jeep. After finding a comfortable spot, the pair seems to find a quiet spot to enjoy each other’s company, that is, until Syd’s friend arrives to interrupt their peace.

Speaking about the song in a press release, Syd shared her intention behind the song. “I wanted to make something for the gay Black girls,” she said. “I want them to see themselves in this and in me.” Her new single comes five months after she dropped “Missing Out,” an effort she released back in February and labeled as an “anti-Valentine’s Day ode.” On it, she spoke and her struggles with a lover and their inability to “spend the proper time trying to work it out.”

Prior to “Fast Car” and “Missing Out,” Syd linked with Kehlani and Disclosure for “Birthday” and contributed to Lil Uzi Vert’s “Urgency” and Free Nationals’ “Shibuya.”
