When Ashanti first arrived on the scene in 2002, she not only established herself as a legitimate entertainer, she solidified her place among the stars of all-stars. To show appreciation for her years of success, the Grammy Award-winning songwriter, actress, author, and executive producer, Hollywood, will honor her with her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Ashanti will be presented with the 2,718th star on Thursday, April 7th, at 11:30 a.m. Her star will be dedicated in the category of Recording at 7060 Hollywood Boulevard. Tichina Arnold and Ja Rule will be the guest speakers at the event.

The “Happy” singer took it to Twitter to express her gratitude for the major achievement.

The Hollywood Walk Of Fame committee also spoke on its decision to reward Ashanti with her own star.

“Ashanti is an award-winning singer, author, actress, and executive producer. She has proven her talent in many different Hollywood industries and is an example for young girls who want to be in the ‘biz,’” said Ana Martinez, a Hollywood Walk of Fame Producer.

From Ashanti’s first album to now, the New York native has made history. In 2002, her self-titled album Ashanti reached the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Top 200 and R&B album charts. That album also sold 504,593 units in its first week, which set SoundScan record as the most albums sold by any debut female artist in the chart’s history. She earned her a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records. That record is yet to be broken.

Ashanti isn’t just thriving in the music industry. She’s also making history in the tech world. She also became the first, Black female artist to partner with and became a co-founder of a Web3 tech company, EQ Exchange.

I’d love to have Mariah on it, but anyways.’ And Mariah’s actually on it. That’s crazy.”

Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith are headed back to the Red Table. According to Radar Online, Will has declined invites to Good Morning America and The Today Show to pull up to his wife’s Facebook Watch show.

Will reportedly skipped the line of reporters after his Oscar win and sidestepped the reporters at after-parties. The episode is believed to be the “best platform” for the conversation and will record as early as this week.

Late Monday, Will Smith released an apology to Chris Rock on Instagram following his viral slap against the comedian on Sunday night.

“Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive. My behavior at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally,” Smith wrote. “I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.”

He added, “I would also like to apologize to the Academy, the producers of the show, all the attendees and everyone watching around the world. I would like to apologize to the Williams Family and my King Richard Family. I deeply regret that my behavior has stained what has been an otherwise gorgeous journey for all of us. I am a work in progress.”

The apology followed one Smith issued during his acceptance speech at the Oscars. That one did not mention Chris Rock.
