Marvel Honcho Gives Positive Update On ‘Blade’ Reboot After Major Delays

Here’s the download …

Kevin Feige, the Marvel Studios President, has confirmed that the Blade reboot is still progressing even with all the pivots within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Whew. Take a deep breathe. Blade is still about to get active!

Feige made it clear that the film would more than likely have an R-rating, keeping the same energy from the previous Blade trilogy.

Another reason to clap. Yes, thank you!

He emphasized quality over speed, and stressed the need to take time to ensure the film meets  all of our impossibly high expectations.

Listen, take all the time you need, just not too much, ha!

The reboot, has seen numerous delays and even loss its second director in 2024 alone. Sheesh.

Feige assured fans that the film, starring Mahershala Ali taking over as the iconic vampire hunter, is still a priority for Marvel Studios.

In a recent interview with BlackTreeTV, Feige dished on the possibility for more R-rated MCU films after the highly anticipated “Deadpool and Wolverine.”

“For the last few years, as we’ve been trying to crack that movie, the most important thing for us is not rushing it, and making sure we are making the right Blade movie. Because there were some great Blade movies years ago. They were all rated R. So I think that’s inherent – like Deadpool – that’s inherently the character of Blade.”

Get this, in another interview with Blavity’s Shadow and Act, Feige said:

“We are committed to the movie and we’re so committed to it that we’re not going to make it until it’s right. [It] has been frustrating for us and for some fans that it’s taken a while but we have a writer working on it now. I’ve read half of his new draft and it’s feeling good so far.”

Okay, we’re gonna chill out and relax but this can’t take forever. Feels like we’ve waited decades for Blade to return – oh wait, we kinda have.

Netflix Releases Trailer For Lee Daniels’ ‘The Deliverance’ Starring Mo’Nique, Andra Day, and Omar Epps

Netflix Releases Trailer For Lee Daniels' 'The Deliverance' Starring Mo'Nique, Andra Day, and Omar Epps

Netflix unveiled the gripping trailer for Lee Daniels‘ latest film, The Deliverance. This genre-defying thriller promises to keep audiences on the edge of their seats. Starring an impressive ensemble cast including Mo’Nique, Andra Day, and Omar Epps, the film delves into a family’s chilling and tumultuous journey fighting for their survival against unseen forces.

Inspired by a true story, The Deliverance follows Ebony Jackson, portrayed by Andra Day, a struggling single mother who is desperately seeking a fresh start. Moving her family into a new home, Ebony hopes to leave behind her personal demons and offer her children a better life. However, the seemingly peaceful new beginning quickly turns into a nightmare as strange and unexplainable occurrences begin to unfold within the house.

These eerie happenings catch the attention of Child Protective Services, threatening to tear Ebony’s family apart. As the pressure mounts and the stakes grow higher, Ebony finds herself in a harrowing battle for her life and the souls of her children. The film explores themes of darkness, possession, and the power of faith in overcoming unimaginable adversity.

Daniels, known for his masterful storytelling and critically acclaimed works, brings a unique and chilling perspective to this supernatural thriller. The Oscar-award-winning director seamlessly blends elements of horror, drama, and the supernatural, creating a narrative that is as thought-provoking as it is terrifying.

Mo’Nique’s return to the screen is highly anticipated, with her reunion with Daniels already generating buzz. Daniels ended their 13-year feud in April 2022 by delivering a heartfelt apology to Mo’nique during her comedy show at the St. George Theatre in Staten Island, New York. Their relationship strained for a number of reasons including financial disputes for her compensation in the Academy Award winning film, accusations of blackballing and mislabeling her as difficult.  But now The Parkers star is joining the cast of Daniels’ upcoming Netflix film alongside Glenn Close and the talented Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor. Each actor brings depth and nuance to their roles, contributing to the film’s intense and haunting atmosphere.

The Deliverance is not just a tale of supernatural terror; it is a story of resilience, the power of a mother’s love, and the strength found in confronting one’s deepest fears. As Ebony navigates the malevolent forces threatening her family, she discovers an inner strength and a higher power that guides her through the darkness.

The film’s trailer hints at the spine-chilling and emotionally charged journey that awaits viewers. With its haunting visuals, powerful performances, and Lee Daniels’ visionary direction, The Deliverance is set to be a standout film in Netflix’s lineup.

Prepare to be captivated by The Deliverance when it premieres on Netflix. This haunting tale of survival, faith, and the supernatural is one you won’t want to miss.

Speculation points to Blake Lively, Reynolds’ wife and former co-star from the 2011 “Green Lantern” movie. Even Taylor Swift rumors are entering the chat. That may be a big stretch.

Your guess is as good as ours.

On Friday (July 12), Marvel Studios unveiled the hot new teaser for “Captain America: Brave New World.” This franchise restarter or sequel, depending how you look at it marks lead Anthony Mackie’s debut as Sam Wilson in his first standalone film as the iconic hero.

If you’re a Harrison Ford fan, the Star Wars icon, makes his entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, a role previously held by the late William Hurt. Ross, known for his relentless pursuit of the Hulk, has now ascended to the Presidency of the United States. Sounds fun for Ford. Excited he’s in the MCU.

Onto the teaser … Ross proposes to Sam, “You and I haven’t always agreed in the past. But I wanna make another run at making Captain America an official military position.” Sam queries the potential conflicts, asking, “And if we disagree on how to manage a situation, then what happens?” Ross sidesteps the question, urging, “Work with me, Sam.” He later hints at a darker agenda, saying, “We’ll show the world a better way forward.”

Isaiah Bradley (portrayed by Carl Lumbly), last seen in “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” as a Black soldier transformed into a super soldier decades ago, makes a dramatic return, attempting to assassinate Ross. Additionally, Giancarlo Esposito’s character, a gun-wielding antagonist, features pretty prevalently in the teaser.

If you recall, Tim Blake Nelson from the franchise, he reprises his role as Samuel Sterns from 2008’s “The Incredible Hulk,” cautioning, “Global power is shifting. You’re just a pawn.”

The action gets intense in the teased scenes, including Sam battling heavily armed foes and partial destruction of the White House, Ross confronts Sam, declaring, “You may be Captain America, but you’re not Steve Rogers.” Sam affirms, “You’re right, I’m not.”

The mini trailer hits its climax, with some cool aerial combat, featuring Sam alongside Joaquin Torres (Danny Ramirez), who has taken up the Falcon mantle. The final shot teases the emergence of Red Hulk, Ross’ formidable alter-ego, as he hurls Cap’s shield into the ground.

Jamie Foxx Recounts Mystery Illness That Began with a ‘Bad Headache’

image

Finally, Jamie Foxx has revealed more about the mysterious illness that hospitalized him last April. The 56-year-old actor shared his experience in a video posted on X (formerly Twitter) by The Art of the Dialogue.

“Look, April 11th last year,” Foxx said to a group gathered around him at an outdoor café in Phoenix, “Bad headache. I asked my boy for an Advil.” He snapped his fingers, indicating how quickly things escalated.

“I was gone for 20 days,” Foxx continued. “I don’t remember anything.”

Here’s Foxx describing the early response to his health crisis, “So they told me — I’m in Atlanta — so they told me my sister and my daughter took me to the first doctor,” referring to his sister Deidra Dixon and daughter Corinne Foxx. “They gave me a cortisone shot,” he said to a woman next to him. (According to the Mayo Clinic, a cortisone injection can “relieve pain, swelling, and irritation.”)

Something many can appreciate, Foxx, then mentioned the next step in his medical journey: “The next doctor said something’s going on up there,” he said, pointing to his head, though he refrained from specifying further on camera. “I won’t say it on camera,” Foxx added, drawing laughs from the crowd. “But it was…” he trailed off, shrugging, as the video ended.

In a heartfelt note to this harrowing journey, Foxx previously credited his sister Deidra with saving his life during this crisis, posting on Instagram, “without you I would not be here … had you not made the decisions that you made I would’ve lost my life.”

On the lighter side, thankfully Foxx returned to the FOX competition show Beat Shazam after missing season 6 due to his illness. He has also hinted at a return to stand-up comedy, where he plans to address his health scare. In February, Foxx hinted at his comeback, saying, “Going to get on somebody’s stage somewhere near you. I got some jokes, and a story to tell….”
