Chinx Murder Suspect Finally Pleads Guilty to 2015 Drive-By Shooting of Beloved Rapper

image

Some sense of closure may be on the way in the 2015 murder of beloved rapper Chinx. Now, one of the suspects has pleaded guilty.

Quincy Homere, 32, is one of two defendants in the drive-by shooting case and could face up to 23 years in prison.

Sources close to the investigation suggest that Homere, also known as “Q” or “Qwality,” was envious of Chinx, born Lionel Pickens Jr. SMH.

In an emotional statement, Chinx’s widow, Janelli Caceres, spoke to Lisa Evers in an exclusive interview, sharing her emotional experience in court:

“It was pretty emotional. I literally cried the whole time sitting there, actually staring at him, because there’s so many different thoughts and words running through your head, and you know you have to keep your composure,” Caceres said.

Get this, Caceres, a mother of three, has been collaborating with NYPD detectives for years to bring the suspects to justice. She expressed her gratitude to the NYPD, the Queens District Attorney, and Chinx’s friends and fans for keeping his memory alive.

“A lot of sadness, a lot of hurt, a lot of anger. The DA sat with me most of the time until it was time for him to present, but I was there by myself, so it was a lot,” she added.

If you recall, nearly 10 years ago, Lionel Pickens Jr. was murdered in May 2015 while sitting in his luxury car in Queens after performing at a Brooklyn nightclub. He was signed to French Montana’s record label, and had a hit song on hip hop radio station HOT 97.

Outside of the flashy persona, Chinx was also a devoted family man, raising two daughters and a son with his wife, Janelli. At the time of his death, the couple was looking to buy a house for their growing family. Unbelievable sadness then from the heinous act and still holds true today.

Looking back on the legal proceedings, Caceres said, “We definitely believe it should have been at least a murder 2 charge, but unfortunately with the odds that were against us, and the laws of the state of New York, it made it very hard to pursue that.” In 2017, the Queens District Attorney identified Homere and Jamar Hill, 26, of Valley Stream, as suspects in the case.

Queens DA Melinda Katz issued a statement expressing hope that the sentence would provide some comfort to the Pickens family. “My office never gives up in our pursuit of justice. Lionel Pickens, an accomplished recording artist, was senselessly gunned down by Quincy Homere… We hope that this sentence will provide the Pickens family with some measure of comfort as they continue to mourn his loss.”

Caceres also expressed relief at the resolution of the case. “It’s closure for us so now I know there are no more court appearances after this, someone is being held accountable for what happened, so it’s a start,” she said. She also noted the importance of avoiding a prolonged trial. “A tough situation to put me and my children through, as well as certain family members and friends, because unfortunately we would have had to be part of the case and it would have dragged on for years.”

WATCH: Big Sean Take Aim at (Maybe) Kanye in New Freestyle; DJ Akademiks Weighs in

image

Big Sean is not holding back how he feels, about someone. On Tuesday (July 16) The “I Don’t F With You” rapper released a freestyle for On the Radar, and somebody, although unnamed caught some strays.

Get this, the Detroit emcee was rapping over an iconic old school track from Timbaland via Aaliyah’s “If Your Girl Only Knew.” Interesting choice.

Sean is out here saying somebody is kinda of itching for beef and supposedly has matching tattoos with another man but all for “clout” chasing.

Here’s some of the bars… And aren’t ya’ll glad RAP is back?

“I had to switch the home team ’cause they committed treason,” he rapped. “Ni**as looking for engagement like they got their knee bent/ I got better things to do than to find someone to beef with.”

Watch Big Sean rap, rap below:

“Man, this industry is terrible, I can’t even vouch/ I’ve seen grown men get matching tattoos for the clout,” he later added.

So how do we know or think this is directed at Kanye West?

Hear us out … Ye was ‘Drink Champs’ in 2021. That’s where he dissed Big Sean. The erratic mogul said signing Sean to his G.O.O.D. Music label was the “worst thing he ever did.” Always so dramatic.

But about those tatts. Ye, Steve Lacy, and Lil Uzi Vert got matching tats, The ink says, “We here forever technically.”

But instead of zeroing in on Ye, many tried to say Sean was coming for Kendrick. Even DJ Akademiks tried to make the link. Not so fast.

Sean addressed the rumors on socials.

“N f**k these bi**h a** ni**az, every one of them,” he typed. “Yall goin wit so many narratives, im talking to da haters who just keep finding something to point out they dont like bout me. Its not even worth explaining tho im a just focus on the music.”

Sean did not miss Akademiks’ post and responded:

“Ak you know I f**k wit you,” he wrote in the comment section. “But I’m laughing cause you know that tweet n the video don’t got nothing to do with each other lol.”

DJ Hed backed his up and said “I talked to Sean. The bar was ‘I got better things to do than find someone to beef with,’ And it was not for Dot. Bar was directed at a different Gemini.”

FTR, Kanye is a Gemini. Hilarious.

Soulja Boy Clearly ‘Disappointed’ by Drake After Epic Rap Beef Claiming Nobody Had His Back

image

We’re not going to call this a diss but it’s clear Soulja has strong feelings about the Drake, Kendrick thing and how as Drizzy puts it 20v1.

The “Turn My Swag On” emcee tweeted at the “Hotline Bling” rapper, saying, “You disappointed me.”

He added how no one showed up for the 6 God:

“Doing all them weak ass songs with them niggaz look where It got u none of them niggaz you collab with or took on tour had yo back,” he posted.

Screen Shot 2024 07 17 at 10.40.56 AM

Not entirely accurate but we get his point. As for who’s ready to slide for Drake, we reported earlier that Lil Wayne seemed to show solidarity for Drizzy while performing in Vegas. When Drake’s song “The Motto” was spinning, Wayne made some noticeable changes to the bars. Weezy rapped, “They don’t like us” while holding up his OVO pendant. Tuh.

If you recall or maybe you don’t care, either way, Kendrick dropped Wayne’s name in “Not Like Us.” He dropped the bar “F—d on Wayne girl while he was in jail, that’s connivin’/ Then get his face tatted like a b—h apologizin’.” So, how much did that annoy or amuse Wayne? We’ll never know but one thing we do get is Weezy was repping OVO. Period.

To Soulja’s point, a gang of Drake’s previous collaborators turned antagonizes kicked start the whole beef. Taking sneak dissing to another level until Kendrick went in. Future, Metro Boomin, ASAP, and even the Weeknd, threw their hat into the ring. And the rest is history.

So does Soulja Boy have a point? One thing is for sure, Drake for now, appears unbothered.

50 Cent Trolls His Own Fans With Maple Leafs Cap While Performing at Boston Concert Home of Rival Bruins

Screen Shot 2024 07 16 at 5.14.10 PM

You have to be a top tier troll to be on the level of 50 Cent’s pettiness.

On Saturday night, 50 Cent performed in Boston. No big deal, right? Here’s what caught his fans attention. The Queens rapper took the stage wearing a Toronto Maple Leafs hat. What’s the big deal? Well, he’s in Boston, home of the Bruins and it’s safe to say they do not like the Maple Leafs.

How does 50 even have the motivation to make such a move. At his own concert at that. Who knew Curtis even liked hockey!

image0

The rivalry between the Leafs and Bruins goes way back, so his choice in hats is nothing short of blasphemy in sports rivalry culture.

After his trolling spread across socials, Leafs fans found the stunt amusing, as expected. Call it turning the tables since their infamous Game 7 collapse in the 2013 playoffs at TD Garden, the Maple Leafs have been eliminated by the Bruins in the first round in 2013, 2018, 2019, and 2024.

Now get this, 50 Cent has an upcoming show in Toronto on July 20 at Cabana Pool Bar, Fans are already buzzing wondering if h will rock a Bruins hat? If he does, that’s neutral trolling for the sake of being a troll. One thing is for certain, you have to respect his dedication to his craft.

Salt-N-Pepa’s Pepa Kicked off Southwest Flight

Salt N Pepa's Pepa Kicked off Southwest Flight

Another busy summer travel day has brought another airline-related controversy, this time involving hip-hop superstar Pepa (of the group Salt-N-Pepa) who was removed from a Southwest flight after a dispute over whether or not she was entitled to both of the two seats that she had purchased for a flight

Pepa (whose real name is Sandra Denton) had reportedly purchased two seats for a flight from Las Vegas to Nashville due to a recent knee surgery that required her to have more space. (She was wearing a knee brace at the time.) Initially, Southwest staff told her that she would be able to have both of the seats that she had purchased, but then a man boarded and said that he was entitled to one of the seats because he had to go to a funeral.

A video posted on TMZ shows Denton showing her two tickets after she was kicked off the plane and discussing the incident with staff, who appear to be trying to explain the policy that says she wasn’t entitled to the two seats until she put her knee brace on (she apparently did not have it on when she initially boarded the plane despite using a wheelchair assistance service to get to the gate). The Southwest employee then alleges that she was filming on the plane, to which she responds that she was simply on the phone with her assistant.

Southwest reportedly offered to move her to a seat in an emergency exit row, but since her ticked noted that she had a disability due to her knee surgery that she was ineligible to sit in an exit row since she might not be able to adequately assist in the event of an emergency.

Southwest reportedly rescheduled her flight and reimbursed her at least some of the funds, but Denton has said that she is exploring her legal options with regard to the situation.

Missy Elliott’s Late Pet Inspired Her Return to Touring

Missy Elliot

Hip-hop icon Missy Elliott, 52, recently started her highly anticipated tour, Out of This World – The Missy Elliott Experience. This decision came after postponing previous tours, most recently to care for her beloved dog, Hoodie, who passed away in November.

“I stayed home a lot because I didn’t want to go out on the road, and something happened,” Elliott shared exclusively with PEOPLE. “He was 17 and lived a long, happy life.” The senior dog, described by Elliott as “so pretty,” lived a fulfilling life, bringing joy to the artist for many years.

The loss of Hoodie was profound, but it also marked a turning point for Elliott. Encouragement from her close friend Ciara played a crucial role in her decision to hit the road again. “So I said, ‘Okay, now I can leave the house without having to worry about anything,’” Elliott recalled. “So Ciara and my dog played a big influence in me making the decision to go out.”

Elliott will not be touring alone. Her six-year-old dog, Miss Fendi Dior, will accompany her on the road. “She’s got her clothes ready to go out on the road with us. [It’ll] be fun, fun,” said the Grammy-winning artist. Known for her love of dressing up, Miss Fendi Dior is “excited” to wear matching outfits with Elliott during the tour.

“I know people sometimes be like, ‘Why y’all dressing those dogs?’… But she likes clothes. She really [does] like clothes. She [sees] me pulling out the outfit [and] she’s running. She knows what that means,” Elliott explained. This penchant for style has been a hallmark for Elliott’s pets, with Hoodie previously showcased in sleek outfits like a winter fur coat on social media.

Miss Fendi Dior will continue this trend as she joins Elliott on tour, along with the artist’s close friends and longtime collaborators, Ciara and Busta Rhymes.

Elliott is in full rehearsal mode, preparing for the tour’s start. “It’s full days, then I go home, and the work continues. But I feel good. I’m super excited,” she said. The tour promises to be a unique and exhilarating experience, celebrating Elliott’s indomitable spirit and dedication to her fans.
