Remy Ma Makes History With Successful Launch of Female Battle Rap League, Chrome 23

40 Barrs QB

Yesterday (Feb. 27), history was made in the battle rap world. Remy Ma officially launched her all-female battle rap league, Chrome 23, with the inaugural “Queens Get The Money” inaugurated in New York City. In collaboration with Hot 97, the event was live-streamed on the veteran platform’s website and YouTube and hosted a voting system for each battle. It is the first time in battle rap history where the mysterious world of battle rap and mainstream hip-hop media join forces, ultimately toting battle rap culture to new heights.

The “Queens Get The Money” battle card match-ups included Yoshi G versus Pristavia, Casey Jay versus O’fficial, 40 B.A.R.R.S. versus QB Black Diamond, and Ms. Hustle versus Couture. Each battle was curated by Remy Ma, with careful consideration of her well-acquainted stance on modern battle rap culture.

Yoshi G, a California native, while she has been active in battle rap for the least of the last five years, she is new to the ranks of popular female battle rappers who sparred with Pristavia, a Brooklyn representative who is fresh to the performance of battle rap; reaching popularity after just a year of impressive battles. Pristavia won against Yoshi G at 72% according to the voting system and Yoshi at 28%.

Remy Ma tested the waters of curiosity as the match-up between Casey Jay and O’fficial was deemed tricky, as the two battle rappers are members of the same crew, The Bardashians, where they share a sisterhood with fellow battle rapper, Jaz the Rapper. Also, both are springing from a losing streak, despite Casey Jay standing as a present face for female battle rap. Many battle rap enthusiasts predicted the two close friends would not tackle the battle with their signature vigor. However, such was proven wrong. While facing an injury, Casey Jay still took to the stage, even though their performance ability was limited, which is a signature for Jay. O’fficial showcased several moments of nostalgia to her most prime moments. The New Orleans native ultimately won against her Bardashian sister at a mighty 83% and Texas belle Casey Jay at 17%.

QB Black Diamond, a Connecticut native a veteran in the world of battle rap, made their return to the scene after a two-year hiatus to take on female battle rap icon, 40 B.A.R.R.S. of Boston. Arguably one of the most anticipated battles of the card, the two have an extensive history that was bombarded with turmoil. It was evident in their face-off, where the two took verbal and mental blows to one another, ultimately taking on the role for the tensest match-up out of the entire card. 40 B.A.R.R.S. delivered a signature performance with elite haymakers and metaphors, validating her prediction on QB’s adapted angles. As battle rapper, Ms. Fit, who commentated alongside fellow battle rap veteran E-Hart and battle rap analyst Reda, expressed, QB came and showcased what she does best, top bars of disrespect. 40 B.A.R.R.S. won the battle at a whopping 88%, and QB at 12%.

Ms. Hustle, a Harlem native who is respectively a legend in battle rap as the first female to battle on the stage of the Ultimate Rap League and breed popularity to pioneering female battle rap league Queen of the Ring, took on one of the culture’s most treasured acts, Couture. A Rhode Island representative by way of Liberia, Couture’s presence on the Queens Get The Money card is a reappearance back to the main stage after a two-year hiatus (aside from catching an easy body against Vic Wallace last summer on Takeova Battle League). Both Ms. Hustle and Couture are regarded as top-tier battle rappers, with Hustle’s pertinent showmanship and Couture’s clever wordplay, which were two factors of judgment for last night’s performance. Overall, Couture came out as the victor of the battle at a reasonable 65%, while Ms. Hustle came in at 35%, which some battle rap enthusiasts might say is debatable. However, it is essential to note there is a difference in perception between the voters who watched the live stream and those present in the building.

The event also featured voting categories such as “Battle of the Night,” awarded to Ms. Hustle versus Couture; “Body of the Night,” awarded to 40 B.A.R.R.S; and “Best 3 Rounds of The Night,” also awarded to 40 B.A.R.R.S.
Several hip-hop stars embraced the event, including Fat Joe, Maino, Dave East, and Lil Mama. According to the commentators, hip-hop legend Rah Digga was reportedly in attendance, alongside Lady Luck, whose classic 2004 rap battle set the precedence for contemporary female battle rap. Fellow battle rappers Shooney Da Rapper, Murda Mook, Chayna Ashley, Loaded Lux, Tsu Surf, Tori Doe, Chess, Bill Collector, and URL personality Nunu Nellz were also in attendance, apace with fellow league owners Babs Bunny and Debo of Queen of the Ring.

Ahmaud Arbery’s Mother: “Thank You To Everyone Who Supported Us”

ahmaud arbery mom wanda cooper

Ahmaud Arbery’s mother, Wanda Cooper-Jones is thankful the Department of Justice brought federal hate crimes against the three white men who were convicted of killing her son.

Arbery’s mother, father and lawyers came out of the courtroom with their hands raised in victory after the guilty verdicts were read.  Mrs. Cooper-Jones said the DOJ was forced to convict the killers of her son because the family and supporters put pressure on them to do so.

She said she knew Ahmaud’s race was involved in the case from the beginning and knew the courts would side with them because of that.

“I now want to address the members of the DOJ. I’m very thankful that you guys brought these charges… but back on January 31, you guys accepted a plea deal with these three murderers” Cooper-Jones said.

She continued that she had “begged” the DOJ not to take the deal, and asserted that the verdict today would not have happened without her family’s continued activism.

Travis and Greg McMichael along with William Bryan were found guilty in the federal hate crimes trial. For the fatal shooting of 25-year-old Ahmaud Arbery nearly two years ago.

Another set dripping with a clear pink structure of swirls and rings that looked more like a work of art than a simple nail design complimented her purple hair.  Each nail the structure was added on different parts of the nail. The mini swirly structures were clearly created just for our visual enjoyment as we can not stop looking at them.

Benzino Issues Apology to Coi Leray After Blasting Nicki Minaj Collab

benzino coi

Benzino issued a public apology to Coi Leray after blasting potential Nicki Minaj collab.

24-year-old Coi Leray gained her prominence in the music industry after the release of her viral single, “No More Parties” in 2021, and later adding Chicago’s very own, Lil Durk, onto the single and releasing the music video. The song reached over 76 million views on Youtube, making people want to know more about the trendy superstar.

Since then, Coi has continued to release music with hits such as TWINNEM, At the Top, BIG PURR featuring Pooh Shiesty and more. While Coi Leray is on a consistent run in her music career, the New Jersey native is gearing up to release her highly anticipated debut album.

While the album is still in the works, fans are trying to figure out which artist will be making a guest appearance on the new album. Following a series of events yesterday, fans may now have an idea after Benzino, father of Coi, may have spilled the beans.

“She got the song with Nicki Minaj that’s gonna be coming out that’s gonna be crazy,” Benzino stated in a room on clubhouse. When the media got wind of the collab so many were excited for the singer before Nicki Minaj addressed the rumor stating that she doesn’t have an upcoming collab with anyone. “I don’t have a collab coming with anyone. Onika mode. Love you,” Nicki penned on her Instagram story.

Clearly frustrated with her dad’s actions, Coi Leray took to social media to address his claims, stating that she advises that her father takes the backseat in her career and let her steer the wheel.  “When people was yappin’ they mouth on the Clubhouse he felt like he had to defend himself but I had to tell my dad, he’s an OG and he was super-super big back in the day and everybody knows my dad’s an OG. He gotta play the back, gracefully,” she began. “It’s my turn now. It’s my turn, daddy. I’ma need you to sit the f**k down, grab some popcorn, enjoy the show, and clap for me when it’s time to clap for me. Alright, daddy?”

Although the singer is airing out her frustration, it’s a good thing to see the two on good terms following their online feud at the start of the singer’s career. “He’s going to go hard for me every single time. He not going to let nobody talk crazy about me or nothing,” she added.  “I guess it was a situation where people was yapping their mouth on the Clubhouse and he felt like he had to defend himself.”

Could Nicki Minaj and Coi Leray really have a collab on the way?

Vlogger Tasha K Responds To Wendy Williams Replacement Suggestions

Wendy Williams

Vlogger Tasha K responds to Wendy Williams replacement suggestions.

After 14 successful seasons, it seems that the Wendy Williams show is officially coming to an end. The 57-year-old media mogul’s show is set to be cancelled in June and said to be replaced with The Sherri Shepard show this coming Fall.

Sources close to production claimed that “The producers informed everyone that the [Wendy Show] was being canceled at the end of June. Then in the next breath they hired everyone to work on the new Sherri show.”

When the news released that The Wendy Show would be replaced, many jumped to social media to suggest who they thought would be a suitable fit for daytime television including names such as Nene Leakes, Tamar Braxton, and Tasha K.

Vlogger Tasha K, who has her own podcast, “UnWine With TashaK” on Youtube has recently been in the headlines after being ordered to pay Cardi B over 3.8 million dollars in a defamation lawsuit.

After the youtube professional caught wind of her name being brought up to replace Wendy Williams, she surprisingly stated she would rather continue with her own platform.

“Listen I’m flattered with all the Wendy compliments but I have my own show. We are legends in the making Winos! just look at Everyone dranking wine now and trying to gossip. We are #TheCulture! #Revolitionaries,” the penned with the toasted glass emojis.

While Tasha seems to want to pass the opportunity down, some fans in the comments thought that the opportunity may be good for her career at this point in time, as she stated she doesn’t have the money to pay Cardi B in a recent interview. “I ain’t got it,” the show host said when asked about her 4million dollar debt.

“Who trying to pay 4 million dollars, you got it? Let me borrow it,” Tasha stated before the interviewer suggested that her money from youtube could cover the amount “It’s good but I got two children,” Tasha responded.

How would you have felt about Tasha K taking over daytime television? We see it! Check out the full video below.

100’s of Protesters Gather at Judge’s Home After Kim Potter Sentencing

kim potter protest daunte wright

About 100 people protested the sentencing of Kim Potter at Judge Regina Chu’s home over the weekend.

On Friday, Chu sentenced Kim Potter to 16 months in prison and eight months of supervised release for killing Daunte Wright during a traffic stop last year. Following the sentencing Judge Chu said to her courtroom that “this was a very tragic case because a life was lost and a good police officer made a bad mistake.” Chu said you couldn’t “compare this case to ones like that of George Floyd because the outcome was purely accidental.”

That didn’t stop people from being upset or pubic outrage from those in the community. The Daily Mail reports a crowd of about 100 protesters were outside of what is believed to be Judge Regina Chu’s Minneapolis condo building on Friday night.

READ MORE: Wright’s family and attorneys angrily condemned Chu for going well below prosecutors’ recommendations.

Chu also called Potter’s case “highly unusual” and added she believes Potter “made a tragic mistake,” but did not have animosity toward Wright.

Potter maintained she mistakenly pulled her gun instead of her taser.

Protesters say that the Brooklyn Center cop, 49, who killed 20-year-old Wright on April 11,2021 got off easy.
