Teyana Taylor has been showing her acting skills and she’s not slowing down any time soon. The actor/director just revealed that she landed the role to play legendary soul singer Dionne Warwick in an upcoming biopic.
During a recent interview with The Tamron Hall Show, the Harlem songstress spoke about Warwick handpicking her for the role.
“We’re already working on it,” Teyana Taylor confirmed. “We’re in the building process right now. I’ve always wanted to make sure like, I could lock in with any person that I would be playing, you know? How Angela and Tina [Turner] was, how Jamie Foxx and Ray Charles, you know what I’m saying? Like, to really get to know them and I miss when movies was like that, when you get to know them and tap in and just bond.”
She continued: “We talk almost everyday. That’s my girl. Me, her, and her son. I mean, I’ve always been a firm believer in just always standing on safety. She’s had a wonderful career, you know, and I think right now it’s about making her feel as safe as possible so she can tell her story. A lot of these stories get misconstrued or extremely dramatized to an extent and that’s not where we want to go.”
Rapper Flo Rida’s baby mother, Alexis Adams says the rapper is not paying his 6-year-old son’s medical bills after the tragic fall from a five-story building.
Their son, Zohar Dillard, sustained some pretty serious injuries after falling out of the New Jersey apartment complex building earlier this month. According to a lawsuit filed by Adams, the minor suffered a shattered pelvis, left metatarsal fractures, Grade 3 liver laceration, internal bleeding and collapsed lungs’ after falling from the 5-story height into the concrete ground. Adama allegedes the building management company, Goldberg Management, as well as Pitch Perfect 74, LLC, and unnamed construction companies for negligence, claiming that they were at fault for the fall “by installing windows that posed a hazardous condition and/or by installing incorrect sized guards on said windows,” and ignoring her repeated requests for the proper window guards.
He was taken to the ICU where he underwent medical treatment.
“As a single mom to a special-needs child, this feels like a nightmare. My heart is broken into a million pieces,” Adams said in a statement to Insider.
She continued: “I am devastated, angry and struggling to come to terms with the fact that my only child has suffered severe injuries due to wilful negligence of our landlord and others involved in failing to take necessary safety measures.”
The suit claims that Zohar ‘has been in great pain and suffering, to his great loss and damage and in the future will suffer great physical and mental pain and suffering’.
Adams is claiming that Flo Rida, real name Tramar Dillard, has not financially helped with health insurance costs which were mandated by a court-ordered child support agreement back in 2018. Adams says this has gone on for years.
Back in January of this year, Adams stated to Insider that Flo Rida had not adequately fulfilled his court-ordered support payments surrounding his son’s education and health insurance.
The rapper was consequently ordered by a Bronx County Family Court to pay Adams $9,000 every month for child support, alongside the total cost of Zohar’s education and health insurance, court filings report.
In response to the tragic fall, the rapper posted a story on Instagram on Wednesday revealing to his 900,000 followers that his son is ‘getting the best medical care and miraculously survived a tragic fall’.
“I ask for your continued prayers as he undergoes rehabilitation,” the father added, before asking his fans to ‘appreciate that this remains [sic] a private matter.’
“I am just so grateful that my son is alive, fighting, and is still here with me. He’s a real-life superhero,” Adams concluded.

A 30-year-old woman passed away at a clinic after she reportedly gave herself anesthesia and performed liposuction on herself. The victim, who was identified only as Carina, was a nurse at a south-central facility in Mexico called Clinica Amper.

The nurse never had permission to undergo surgery and did so when her employer was not present. Dr. Rolando Samper Mendoza, who owns the clinic, said the woman performed the operation “without my authorization or permission.” He continued, “One of my nurses named Carina… decided on her own to perform abdominal liposuction with local anesthetic… The result of this incomprehensible action was that she died as a result of the massive absorption of anesthetic that she administered herself.”
After being found unconscious by a fellow employee, Carina’s official cause of death was listed as cardiorespiratory arrest — when a person suddenly stops breathing and their heart fails. She’d been trying to perform liposuction on her stomach when the situation went awry. Paramedics were called to the scene and did all they could to revive the nurse; however, they were unsuccessful in their attempts. The outlet noted that the woman was not professionally trained to deal with administering anesthesia.

The topic recently made headlines when four Americans were violently kidnapped by Mexican cartel members earlier this month as one member of the group was reportedly being escorted by friends to a cosmetic procedure appointment. Unfortunately, two of the four were killed during the trip.
Typically medical issues from liposuction are minor, with the rate for complications at just 5%, according to a 2017 study published in the National Library of Medicine.

For weeks Xscape singer LaTocha Scott has been swamped on social media by allegations that she stole money from her sister, Tamika Scott. Tamika tearfully revealed during an episode of their reality TV show ‘SWV & Xscape : Queens of R&B’ In a new interview LaTocha claims Tamika never mentioned any missing money before she said it on the show and that she stopped speaking to LaTocha after the cameras stopped rolling. Latocha says she’s called, reached out and sent text messages and never heard about these allegations from 10 years ago.
LaTocha spoke with Cocktails with Queens and shared that the alleged incident happened over ten years ago and she knew nothing about it. She also insisted that she absolutely did not take Tamika’s money, but would gladly give $30k to have her sister back.
Charlamagne Tha God has come to the defense of a news presenter who hasn’t been seen on air after quoting a Snoop Dogg lyric during a live broadcast.
The presenter, Barbie Bassett of Mississippi-based NBC affiliate WLBT, has been at the TV station for decades, but was taken off the air almost immediately after using the phrase ‘fo’ shizzle my nizzle’ while they were having a discussion about the D-O-G-G.
The word ‘nizzle’ of that particular phrase set people off charging it was a racial slang but it’s unclear whether Bassett knew that.
While it hasn’t been confirmed if Bassett has been fired from her job, she hasn’t been on air or spoken out since the incident which has lead many to speculate the worst.
On his show ‘The Breakfast Club’, Charlamagne expressed his shock that something so seemingly insignificant – saying that phrase, obviously not racism or the N-word – would have led to her getting fired.
“She can’t say, ‘Fo shizzle, my nizzle?’ Oh, I guess cause nizzle is a derivative of n*****-.
“I’m saying that in context. I didn’t mean to say… I’m not using that word.”
Charlamagne seemed to argue that Bassett should have been given the benefit of the doubt, anyway.
He continued: “That’s the thing with hip hop, man. Hip-hop is so big and so mainstream, and it’s just like, who can consume it and who can’t?”
He asked, “That’s why?” to which his co-presenter DJ Envy said: “I don’t know if that’s fireable. You know what I mean? Who can repeat slang and who can’t? Who can repeat slang and who can’t? How old is that woman, yo?
“She might be old. She probably has no idea nizzle is a derivative of the N-word,” he added.
Bassett had been working for the station for 20+ years.
“She might not have any idea, she just thinks she sounded cool repeating Snoop Dogg.
“‘Fo’ shizzle my nizzle.’ That’s not a fireable offense. I hope she sues.”
DJ Envy also made comment on the fact that Bassett had been at the station for more than 20 years, but now has no job.
In the aftermath of Bassett’s absence, the station’s vice president and general manager Ted Fortenberry released a statement in which he said: “As I am sure you can understand, WLBT is unable to comment on personnel matters.”
777 Radio, a limited radio series that will only be broadcast on Apple Music’s international live-streaming radio station Apple Music 1, was just announced by Latto.

Swizz Beatz crowned his queen, Alicia Keys, by presenting her with a new Mercedes-Maybach designed by the late Virgil Abloh.
On Sunday (March 26), the avid car enthusiast posted a picture on Instagram of his Grammy Award-winning wife sitting in the backseat of her belated birthday gift. “Keys open doors [gold key emoji] long live @virgilabloh [palms up emoji] gifts from the Kids to the Queen always,” Swizz wrote in the post.
The new car, which was unveiled at a car show last December, is a Mercedes-Maybach S-Class S680 model and was designed by Abloh before his November 2021 death in partnership with Gorden Wagener, Mercedes-Benz’s chief design officer.
Per Dezeen, there will only be 152 units of the car available when they hit the market in April, and will be designed similarly to a Maybach in that it’s “a two-tone solar-powered car with a transparent hood that was also designed together with Abloh.”
“As Project Maybach was a show car, we had complete creative freedom, allowing us to collaboratively concept what the future of electric travel could look like,” Wagener told Dezeen. “Due to production requirements, we had to take a different approach to the design of the Mercedes-Maybach limited-edition S-Class.”
He continued: “Virgil was a creative that all of us here at Mercedes-Benz hugely admired. Between the innovations possible within the Mercedes-Benz teams and Virgil’s unique capacity as a cultural visionary, the opportunity was really to redefine what a fashion and automotive collaboration could look like.
Alicia Keys — who turned 42 in January — posted the full footage of the gift unveiling on her own IG page. The couple’s two sons, Egypt Daoud Dean (12), and Genesis Ali Dean (8), pulled back a black tarp to show the luxury vehicle.
Everyone was taken aback once they saw the neutral-toned car, including Keys, who was smiling from ear to ear in shock.

Three years ago. R. Kelly lost a $4 million civil suit filed by a woman claiming that he lured her to his Chicago recording studio with promises of a job, if she had sex with him, when she was 16-years-old.
The plaintiff, Heather Williams, says she met Kelly on a Chicago street in 1998 when she was just 16 and started a sexual relationship with him after being lured to his music studio with promises of an appearance in one of the singer’s videos.
A court has just given the accuser priority access to Kellz royalties.

The Illinois Supreme Court ruled that the victim in the R. Kelly harassment case would be given first dibs at the singer’s royalties to help pay off the massive $4 million judgement against him.
Heather Williams filed a civil lawsuit against Kelly in 2019 alleging that when she was just 16 years old the platinum selling artist lured her into his studio and promised her a job if she had sex with him.
She ultimately won the case against the singer and was awarded $4 million, a payment Kelly has yet to pay up.
After assessing the singer’s assets, the court decided on March 23 that Williams would be allowed to tap into the royalties Kelly earned through his music distributed at Sony Studios.
The artist’s account was valued at around $1.5 million in 2020, before the Honey Love singer lost another $3.5 million in a ruling favoring his property manager in a case over unpaid rent for a Chicago studio.
Thursday’s decision upheld a lower court’s earlier ruling that Williams would be given “priority access” to the royalties because she was the first to properly demand the money from the music label.
