Brandy Eyes Tour or Vegas Residency with Monica After Ariana Grande Remix

Brandy and Monica's Verzuz Celebration Draws Over 6 Million Viewers, Raises $250K for Voting Initiative

Last month, pop sensation Ariana Grande brought together R&B icons Brandy and Monica for a remix of her new single, “The Boy is Mine.” This collaboration rekindled the magic of their 1998 hit, “The Boy Is Mine,” and now Brandy is eager to take their reunion to the next level.

Brandy, who recently reprised her role as Cinderella in Disney’s “Descendants: The Rise of Red,” shared her excitement about working with Monica again during an interview with “Extra” at the L.A. premiere. She expressed her gratitude for Ariana Grande’s gesture, highlighting the respect and homage paid to their original track.

“It was so magical. The energy between me and Monica was so beautiful,” Brandy gushed. “I loved working with her this time. It was so great for [Ariana] to call us up to be a part of it. She didn’t have to do that… even though her song is called ‘The Boy Is Mine,’ she didn’t take anything from the original. She created a whole new song, so to call us up and for her to pay homage that way was just such a blessing. I had a great time with Monica and I just want to do more with her in the future.”

The synergy between Brandy and Monica has ignited Brandy’s desire to collaborate further. She revealed that she has been in constant communication with Monica, discussing potential future projects, including a tour or a Las Vegas residency.

“I hit [Monica] up so much talking about all the things that we could do together — tour, residency, everything,” Brandy continued. “I really want that, Monica!”

Fans of the R&B legends are now eagerly anticipating the possibility of seeing Brandy and Monica share the stage once more. Whether it’s a nationwide tour or a spectacular Vegas residency, the duo’s reunion promises to be an unforgettable experience for music lovers everywhere.

2024 ESPYS Host Serena Williams Calls Out Chiefs Kicker Harrison Butker “We Don’t Need You”

image

ICYMI, the 2024 ESPYS took flight Thursday night and stunning host Serena Williams took playful jabs at several celebs and maybe fired a few shots from the big stage under the shining lights of the Dolby Theatre. But it was her remarks fired at Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker that raised eyebrows.

So it all went down while Williams, her sister Venus, and actress Quinta Brunson were discussing the importance of women’s sports. Full stop. That’s important and we’re glad they had a platform to say what needed to be said.

Venus emphasized, “So, go ahead and enjoy women’s sports like you would any other sports, because they are sports.”

Serena then stepped in like one of her powerful forehands, with a quip, “Except you, Harrison Butker. We don’t need you.”

Oh boy, Butker, who attended the ESPY Awards and walked the red carpet, became the subject of Serena’s comment due to his controversial statements made during a commencement speech at Benedictine College earlier this year.

If you need a reminder of how to be tasteless, while addressing the graduates, Butker said, “For the ladies present today, congratulations on an amazing accomplishment. You should be proud of all that you have achieved to this point in your young lives. I want to speak directly to you briefly because I think it is you, the women, who have had the most diabolical lies told to you. How many of you are sitting here now about to cross this stage and are thinking about all the promotions and titles you are going to get in your career? Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world.”

Rightfully, Butker’s speech sparked widespread backlash after excerpts went viral, leading to Serena’s pointed remark during the ESPYS.

Good for you, Serena. Boss moves.

Serena Williams Reveals She Attempted to Deposit First Million Dollar Paycheck at ATM Drive-Thru

image

Back in the day for Serena Williams, she was so focused on being the best that she often forgot to collect her prize money. Must have been nice, ha!

Williams, now aging gracefully at 42, has amassed nearly $100 million in prize earnings, meaning winnings from tennis matches before eventually retiring in 2022. She revealed something interesting on First We Feast’s YouTube show “Hot Ones” last week:

“Is it true that you rarely collected your winnings your first year on tour and then once tried unsuccessfully to cash your first million-dollar check in a drive-thru ATM?” host Sean Evans asked.

“Those are all true,” Williams responded. Throughout her 27-year career, during which she won 23 Grand Slam singles titles and 73 career singles titles, she said, “I never played for money. I played because I loved the sport … I wanted to win.”

Way back in the 90s, Williams made her professional debut at the 1995 Bell Challenge in Quebec City, Canada. She took home a not so impressive $240 check after falling in a qualifying match. But she was young, just 14, and wasn’t eager to spend it. Smart young lady. But get this, she kept that same energy after snagging her first million-dollar payday.

“I never really spent a lot of money,” Williams said. “I just went through the drive-thru and the guy was like, ‘Uh, I think you need to come inside for this.’” Hilarious.

As time went on, her “tax guy” often reminded her to scoop up her prize money.

“He would be like, ‘You didn’t get your money?’ And I’m like, ‘Oh, I didn’t get that one in Zurich. I forgot that one in Moscow,’” she recalled. “I was playing to win, and if I didn’t win, I wasn’t thinking. I was just so angry that I wanted to just figure out a way to get better and win the next time.”

These interesting experiences that coupled Williams success, contributed to her financial literacy education. Full stop. This is so important for all young people to focus on. Not just a super star athlete who was earning big numbers. It’s all relative and financial literacy is invaluable. They say teaching children about personal finance is crucial. As early as ages 5 to 8 prepares kids to understand how to save, spend, and invest by ages 8 to 12.

She went on to say “I remember having to figure that out and having to learn how to manage from a very early age and not get crazy with it, and so he empowered us to do that,”

Williams added that when negotiating sponsorship deals, she was active in the process.

“I’m 16, my dad is negotiating, they’re going back and forth, and he wants me there for the whole time to make sure I know what to do in the future,” she said. “I learned early on that your paycheck from tennis — maybe that’s why I forgot them — should be your smallest earning.”

Looks like Serena Williams figured it out and hopefully made really smart decisions with her bread. Hopefully we can all learn more about financial literacy and pass on that knowledge to generations to come.

The “New Lives” campaign features new print advertisements showcasing inspirational stories from diverse individuals who have benefited from Goodwill’s services. These stories are paired with real donations from Goodwill stores across the country that made such transformations possible. “We want our customers to understand that the Goodwill down the street from them is not just a convenient place to donate things they no longer use,” said Onney Crawley, chief marketing officer of Goodwill Industries International. “Rather, donations that are sold at Goodwill stores help fund life-changing career training and placement programs for people who have faced unthinkable hardships and just want a fair shot.”

Last year alone, Goodwill helped more than 1.7 million people through various services, including career navigation, digital and trade skills, reentry programs, adult education, and on-the-job training. Goodwill launched the “New Lives” campaign to a positive reception. Beyoncé’s ‘Cowboy Carter’ Skyrockets in Sales 3,500% Reclaiming Number 1 Spot

Screen Shot 2024 07 11 at 1.28.36 PM

Numbers don’t lie. Same goes for Beyoncé’s country album, “Cowboy Carter,” which has experienced a huge uptick on the Billboard charts since its release in late March.

Now we all know, initially, the album debuted at No. 1 across various rankings but then began to slip and slide, and let’s be real – that happens.

Forbes reports that just this week, “Cowboy Carter” has shot up like nobody’s business, on the American charts, regaining significant popularity.

Get this, according to Billboard, the album sold (combined all streaming and comparable metrics) an additional 24,000 copies in the past tracking week, with an eye popping 23,000 of those being vinyl sales. So if you’re not good at math, this represents a 3,550% increase in vinyl sales from the previous week. Diving into the album’s sales across all formats, including CDs and digital downloads, it grew by 1,673%.

Why? Well, perhaps the surge in sales is attributed to the release of the deluxe edition on vinyl, which spurred a wave of purchases. A ha, that’s all you have to do, huh? Take note up and coming artists with massive marketing machines. Once these records shipped, they were counted towards the Billboard totals, showing a strong interest in the extended version of the album. And boom, there you have it.

So this all resulted in “Cowboy Carter” take back control of the No. 1 spot on the Vinyl Albums chart, marking its seventh week at the top and its second non-consecutive turn in that position.

Guess country is winning, well at least when Beyoncé does it her way like the Queen she is.
