R&B Sensation SiR Drops Emotionally Charged Album "Heavy" and New Single "You"

Grammy-nominated artist SiR unveils his fourth studio album, Heavy, alongside a captivating new single and video for “You,” released via TDE. Heavy is a profound exploration of SiR’s journey, delving into themes of recovery, mental health, and physical transformation.

The album features soul-stirring tracks like “Six Whole Days” and “Ricky’s Song,” where SiR bares his soul with anthemic melodies and raw lyricism—collaborations with Ty Dolla $ign, Isaiah Rashad, Ab-Soul, Anderson .Paak, and Scribz Riley enrich the album’s emotional depth.

“My life was in shambles, and the music was coming out phenomenal,” SiR says. “I was surprised. But then, once I got to the other side [of my problems], it started to get even better. That’s where the album’s coming from. It’s coming from a place where you’re going to see both sides.”

With Heavy, SiR showcases his fearless honesty and musical prowess, cementing his status as a leading figure in contemporary R&B.

SiR Says He Hopes Fans Understand How Personal His Album Is: ‘I Hope It Translates’

SiR is a new man. Joining Nadeksa Alexis on Apple Music’s R&B Now Radio, The TDE Crooner spoke about his new album, Heavy, and what he hopes fans will take away from the release.

“I hope it translates,” SiR said. “That’s all I can ask for is that people hear it and they understand that as personal as it is, I wrote it because I want them to feel, you know what I mean? And I want them to feel what I was going through. And if they’re going through something, I want them to feel that. You know what I mean?

“I want them to embrace that pain so that they can move through it. Because I bottled a lot of this stuff up. Thank God I got it off on this album.”

Inglewood singer Sir Daryl Farris — better known mononymously as SiR — has been rolling out his fourth studio album Heavy for the last few weeks, releasing the single “Karma” and even appearing in the NBA’s Celebrity Game for All-Star Weekend. Today, he revealed the cover art and tracklist, which features both his fellow TDE labelmates (Ab-Soul, Isaiah Rashad) and other LA soul veterans (Anderson .Paak, Ty Dolla Sign).

Like labelmate Schoolboy Q, who just dropped his album Blue Lips after a five-year hiatus, SiR is also releasing after a five-year break. His last album, Chasing Summer, came out in 2019 and reached No. 64 on the Billboard 200 chart. It featured appearances from then-labelmate Kendrick Lamar, Lil Wayne, Sabrina Claudio, and Smino, among others, and spawned two singles “Hair Down” and fan favorite “John Redcorn.” The five-year album cycle seems to be a trend for Top Dawg Entertainment, with Ab-Soul and Isaiah Rashad both also putting half a decade between their most recent releases.

Heavy is due on March 22 via TDE and RCA.

SiR Celebrates A Special Woman In His New Song And Video, ‘Nothing Even Matters’

Inglewood singer and rapper SiR is gearing up for the release of his hotly anticipated third major-label album, Heavy. Ahead of the album, he has shared a new song, “Nothing Even Matters,” an ode to a special woman in his life.

The song samples “Nothing Even Matters” by Lauryn Hill and D’Angelo and interpolates “Mad Issues” by Angie Stone, while maintaining original, fresh production.

“I can’t get enough / Hard to believe I even found your love / Diamond in the rough / Light up the dark like the fire I’m sparkin’ up / Baby, when we touch / Nothin’ even matters, no one loves me better / I want this forever,” he sings on the song’s chorus.

The song’s accompanying video contains all the elements of iconic R&B music videos of the late ’90s and early 2000s, including elaborate choreography, dancing in empty warehouses, and performing in the desert.

SiR detailed his upcoming album in an interview with Okayplayer. He noted that he took an even more raw and personal approach to his songwriting this time around.

“I always come from a very transparent, vulnerable place,” he said. “I definitely was just trying to be as honest as possible. I was writing songs that I needed to write. It was my therapy, almost, because I had nothing else to do. All I had was music and my home life.”

Lil Uzi Vert And Nigo Flex Their Collection Of Luxury Items On ‘Heavy’

Next week, DJ and fashion designer Nigo will release his first album in nearly two decades with I Know Nigo. The album is one that’s a bit of an anticipated effort thanks to its list of guest features, many of which have been revealed through the project’s singles. So far, we’ve received three records from the album: “Ayra” with ASAP Rocky, “Want It Bad” with Kid Cudi, and “Hear Me Clearly” with Pusha T. With just a week left until I Know Nigo arrives, Nigo delivers one last single for fans to enjoy.

For his latest release, Nigo calls on Lil Uzi Vert for their new single, “Heavy.” The track is an ode to the luxury bulky items that they own, whether it be cars, jewelry, or bag. Lil Uzi Vert glides with ease over the song’s drill production. In addition to the features from Rocky, Cudi, Pusha T, and Uzi, I Know Nigo is also set to carry additional appearances from Tyler The Creator, the Teriyaki Boyz, and more. The project will also be handled by Steven Victor who is Pusha T and the late Pop Smoke’s manager.
