Rick Ross Donates $30K, Keeps Georgia Health Clinic Running

On Monday, which was coincidentally Juneteenth, rapper Rick Ross broke out the big guns and gifted a Georgia health clinic $30,000.00 to make sure their lights stayed on. The Fayette C.A.R.E. Clinic almost ran out of funds. However, with this influx of cash, they can keep things running. Seeing as Ross’s father didn’t have access to health care when he was alive, the rapper was intrinsically motivated to help out a southern health facility.

Fayette C.A.R.E. had a donation goal of $50k and was at roughly $19k before Ross stepped in. His additional $30k covered the difference and now people in Fayetteville, GA, ages 18 and over can access free care at the clinic without the staff worrying about the future. Rick Ross has done something like this in the past; back in 2020, he and Habitat for Humanity built a home for a Fayette, GA, veteran. He considers the communities of rural Georgia to be family and friends.

The 47-year-old rapper is busier than ever. Despite previous medical emergencies, drive-by shootings, and legal issues, Rick Ross is looking to the future with a political eye. He plans to run in 2024 for mayor of Fayetteville, GA, where he has a home and resides for most of the year. He also owns several Wingstop locations, considering his zest for lemon pepper chicken wings. And in April of this year, he offered Don Lemon a job after he got canned from CNN. Ross told Lemon, “For some reason, I believe you know what you doing with the lemon pepper wings. So man, just send over your résumé.”

As for music, Ross is in his featuring days. He’ll provide the odd verse or two to his best pals, like Drake, but is otherwise content with letting his track record speak for itself. He recently had a guest appearance on the FX show Dave with fellow rapper Lil Dicky, and he’s doing fun events like his Rick Ross Car Show and the upcoming Rick Ross Pool Party on July 2nd. The head honcho of Maybach Music is having fun and making a difference, all at the same time.

Brian McKnight & Ex Clashed Over Daughter’s Birth Control Payments: Report

Brian McKnight’s family drama has been quite the hot topic for the past month due to a few different public scandals. Moreover, court documents reportedly obtained by Radar Online on Thursday (May 25) show that he and his ex Patricia Driver had quite the contentious court affair. Not only that, but it also brought up the various medial services that the singer refused to pay for their daughter. Furthermore, their court struggles specifically revolved around the young one’s healthcare plan, her therapy sessions, and birth control pills. What’s more is that the judge took different stances on each side of the aisle.

For those unaware, Briana McKnight is Brian’s daughter with Patricia Driver, and was born while her father was still married to Julie McKnight. The first issue that came up in their legal battle was Briana’s health insurance, despite the fact that she turned 18 and was responsible for her own affairs. Reportedly, Patricia argued that Brian McKnight agree to pay her insurance costs in full during his divorce settlement and had apparently neglected the payments. Then, the judge ordered him to reimburse her for nearly $1,800 for healthcare expenses.

Readers may remember that this is the same daughter that sued Brian McKnight back in 2020 for incest slander. In fact, that story is what got a lot of public interest in his family affairs circulating like wildfire, in addition to his appreciation of his new family over his old one. Another element in the court proceedings was Briana’s therapy sessions. Apparently, the 53-year-old “did not know why it was necessary,” although he eventually changed his mind after a few months of meetings. Still, it shows a clear disconnect between both sides of the family.

Meanwhile, the Buffalo-born artist also allegedly did not want to pay for Briana’s birth control medication. Despite Patricia explaining that it was for a medical situation, he claimed that he refused to cough up the cash because he wasn’t notified in time. The judge took his side when it came to that caveat. While he continues to defend himself against accusations of abandonment, he did so by maintaining that he shares much more love for his current family. Fat Joe, French Montana, Rick Ross, and Busta Rhymes Perform and Advocate for Healthcare Transparency

French Montana Performs at Power to the Patients Event

Insane concert ticket prices have been the talk of the entertainment industry in recent months, but many Americans are more concerned with healthcare prices. Last week, hip-hop artists Fat Joe, French Montana, Rick Ross, and Busta Rhymes teamed up to perform at a “Power to the Patients” advocacy event in Washington DC, bringing awareness to significant issues in the American healthcare system.

The event was sponsored by “Power to the Patients,” a non-profit organization fighting for a more affordable and equitable healthcare system price transparency.

At the event, which was attended by cele French Montana stated that he was involved in the event because he didn’t think that people should be “blindsided” anymore by astronomical healthcare bills, saying that patients “needed prices up front” and that he hoped the event could help the American healthcare system “move forward.”

Rick Ross got on stage and said that people should know if they “gotta sell your house to save your parents” with regard to inconsistent hospital bills.

On the organization’s website, alongside a YouTube video about the subject, Fat Joe explained why he was passionate about the cause, writing:

“We have to change the healthcare system and hold hospitals and insurers accountable to provide more transparency on the price of care. They are charging way too much money and the bills are not even consistent. Somebody could get an MRI for $300 and someone right behind them could be paying thousands for the same MRI. Right now, millions across the country are being dragged into debt because they’re blindsided by the cost of these medical bills. Families are falling apart. People are losing their homes. People are getting bankrupted because of hospital bills and healthcare. Knowing prices is the only way we will be able to lower our costs in healthcare. So, we have to fight for the people. We all have to talk to our politicians and talk to everybody. It’s in the law that hospitals and insurers need to post prices and we all need to know this. I teamed up with Power to the Patients to educate our communities on their rights and help put an end to this injustice.”

Fat Joe Wants To Fix Healthcare Prices

Fat Joe is normally one to let folks know to pay what it cost. As he infamously said in a viral Instagram video, “Yesterday’s price is not today’s price!” However, he has a different perspective when it comes to healthcare. Earlier this week the Terror Squad ring leader tapped a few of his rap contemporaries to do something about unfair hospital pricing. Joe’s linking up with Busta Rhymes, French Montana, and Rick Ross to perform in Washington D.C. to raise awareness for more transparency in hospital billing.

Additionally, Fat Joe is partnering with Power to the Patients to put the event together. Joe’s worked with the organization that targets and helps with hidden healthcare fees, before and even starred in a public service announcement they released last year. Not only that, the Don Cartagena spoke about the need for healthcare reform and his decision to work with Power to the Patients in a statement from The Hills In The Know. He told the outlet, “Our healthcare systems need comprehensive reform and I remain committed to using my platform to work alongside Power to the Patients and give a voice to the voiceless.” Moreover, Fat Joe spoke on the need for more transparency from healthcare providers so patients can get a transparent understanding of the cost of their medical bills.

Fat Joe Is A Man Of The People

Recently, TMZ caught up with the “Lean Back” rapper as he made his way to Capitol Hill. The gossip blog documented Fat Joe’s speech as he addressed the congregation as a proud Bronx native. The rapper gave credit to his borough and his community saying it protected him. Along with that, he also made note that the people within his community both Black and Brown oftentimes don’t have their voices heard. He compared their cries to a “dog howling at the moon.” Later he mentions that it’s the Black and Brown people that are affected the most when it comes to unfair healthcare pricing.

Fat Joe is stepping up and wants his community to know that they have someone in their corner to fight for their rights, their health, and their families. How can you not love this guy? Lastly, during the tail end of his speech, Joe shed light on the difference between a compliant hospital and a non-compliant hospital. He said, “When a read the bill for a compliant hospital, you see what you get.” Joe continued, “A non-compliant hospital will give you the bill and the math is all mumbo jumbo.” It’s dope to see celebrities taking a stand for the little guy. What do you think about current healthcare prices? Let us know below!
