Snoop Dogg And Lil Wayne Responded To Kendrick Lamar’s ‘GNX’ Name-Drops With Starkly Different Statements

Following his surprise GNX album release, Kendrick Lamar has jokingly been dubbed the true Wicked Witch of the West (sorry Cynthia Erivo) by users online.

Just as the project featured and sampled acts shared public reactions to their musical placements, a few mentioned entertainers issued a response to the body of work. Both Snoop Dogg and Lil Wayne had something to say to Kendrick Lamar after being name-drop on GNX with starkly different statements.

On GNX’s opening track “Wacced Out Murals,” Kendrick Lamar addressed Snoop Dogg and Lil Wayne’s actions during his song-for-song battle with Drake.

For Snoop, it was him reposting Drake’s “Taylor Made Freestyle,” which featured AI-generated verses of Snoop and the late Tupac. Snoop laughed off Kendrick’s bar by showing his allegiance to his West Coast roots, writing (on X): “It was the edibles. West West king.”

Kendrick also seemed to claim that Snoop Dogg didn’t offer him any words of support once he was announced the headliner for the 2025 Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show.

As for Lil Wayne, Kendrick doesn’t appreciate his recent public rants about not being selected for the 2025 Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show slot. During Lil Weezyana Fest 2024, he professed that the opportunity was “ripped away” from him in favor of Kendrick.

Well, Lil Wayne wasn’t too happy with being mentioned at all. On his X page, he seemed to show that he’s ready for a lyrical fight of his own. “Man wtf I do,” he wrote. “I just be chillin & dey still kome 4 my head. Let’s not take kindness for weakness. Let this giant sleep. I beg u all. No one really wants destruction. Not even me, but I shall destroy if disturbed.”

Read Kendrick Lamar’s pointed bars below.

Miss my uncle Lil’ Mane, he said that he would kill me if I didn’t make it / Now I’m possessed by a spirit and they can’t take it / Used to bump Tha Carter III, I held my Rollie chain proud / Irony, I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down / Whatever, though, call me crazy, everybody questionable / Turn me to an eskimo, I drew the line and decimals / Snoop posted “Taylor Made,” I prayed it was the edibles / I couldn’t believe it, it was only right for me to let it go / Won the Super Bowl and Nas the only one congratulate me / All these n****s agitated, I’m just glad they showin’ they faces

Kendrick Lamar’s “GNX” Producer Reveals He Only Gave Him The Title Track Beat Days Ago

Kendrick Lamar apparently only received the beat for the title track from his new album, GNX, days before its release. Rascal, who is credited as one of the producers on the song, shared a text exchange of himself and Lamar on his Instagram in which he requested “some ignorant west sh*t.” In doing so, Rascal noted that the back and forth was only “two days ago.”

“I want it some ignorant west sh*t… I’m bout to hit the studio now,” Lamar wrote in his full text message. When NFR Podcast reshared the post on X (formerly Twitter), fans expressed how impressed they were by the new effort. “Kendrick always chooses quality over quantity. It doesn’t matter how long it takes, he can record a whole album in a day. Goat for a reason,” one fan replied. Others theorized that Lamar has another project on the way. “The stuff he talks about on the album, it’s clear he made this in about 2 months. I suspect another album is dropping very soon…” one user wrote.

Drake Looks Unbothered In New Selfie Despite Kendrick Lamar Fans’ Relentless Clowning

It goes without saying that it’s been a rough year for Drake. The Toronto rapper went head-to-head with Kendrick Lamar in an explosive lyrical battle, and in general, the consensus is that he lost. This, of course, has resulted in a great deal of ridicule from internet trolls. Unfortunately, this was only compounded yesterday, when Kendrick Lamar shocked the world.

With zero warning, Kendrick dropped an entire album, GNX. In no time, it was trending all over social media, as listeners identified their favorite tracks and pointed out any interesting references. Unsurprisingly, countless fans have also been dragging Drake since the release, sharing memes and making jokes about the project adding to Kendrick’s impressive run. Drake has yet to respond to any of this clowning, but luckily, it looks like he may be tuning it all out. Early this morning, he took to his Instagram Story to share a new mirror selfie.

Drake Seems Unfazed

In the selfie, the 28-year-old looks relatively unbothered. He sports a leather jacket, which he paired with some eye-catching black shoes and his signature duck face. He even complemented his new short haircut, which he debuted on his Instagram Story last week, with a Nike headband. As expected, his selfie has earned mixed reactions from social media users. While some are praising him for seemingly remaining unfazed, others continue to clown him. Either way, Drizzy has his own career to worry about and has some big things coming up himself.

He’s currently working on a collaborative album with PartyNextDoor, for example, which doesn’t have an official release date. Fans expect to hear it sooner rather than later, however, as PartyNextDoor announced that it’d be getting finished once he was done with a tour that ended earlier this month. Drake is also scheduled to join xQc for a livestream tomorrow (November 24), where he’ll be giving away $500K.

Andrew Schulz Allegedly Labels Kendrick Lamar “Too Woke” After His “GNX” Diss

Andrew Schulz allegedly described Kendrick Lamar as “too woke” to DJ Akademiks after hearing his new album, GNX, on which he seemingly disses the comedian. While going over the lyrics from the album’s intro track, “wacced out murals,” Akademiks brought up the bar: “Don’t let no white comedian talk about no Black women—that’s law.” He said that when he reached out to Schulz about the line, The Brilliant Idiots co-host remarked: “Is this guy too woke to understand a joke?”

As for the joke in question, Schulz came under fire over the summer for an episode of his Flagrant podcast in which he joked about a “Black girlfriend effect,” in which a non-Black man dates a Black woman and gets a new look. “They grow their beard because they need a cushion when they get slapped,” he remarked at the time. “I think the ‘Black girlfriend effect,’ it might be a protective instinct.” Schulz’s guests on the episode, James Duncan and Fuhad Dawodu, later apologized for laughing, but Schulz refused to follow suit.

As a clip of Akademiks sharing Schulz’s reaction to the lyrics circulated online, fans took Lamar’s side in the situation. “Do people think just cause you say something is a joke that immediately clears you of any wrongdoing you said?” one user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote on Saturday. O’Shea Jackson Jr added: “That ain’t what yall call ‘woke’ or even the original and true meaning of ‘woke.’ That’s just a black man speaking to other black men.”

Andrew Schulz Reportedly Responds To Kendrick Lamar

Schulz isn’t the only person Lamar dissed on “wacced out murals.” He’s already made headlines for mentioning Lil Wayne and their feud over the Super Bowl Halftime Show. Check out Akademiks relaying Andrew Schulz’s response to Kendrick Lamar below.

Lil Wayne Warns He Will “Destroy If Disturbed” After Kendrick Lamar’s “GNX” Lyric

Lil Wayne seemingly responded to Kendrick Lamar mentioning him on his new album, GNX, by asking for peace but warning, “I shall destroy if disturbed.” Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Wayne wrote without mentioning Lamar by name: “Man wtf I do?! I just be chillin & dey still kome 4 my head. Let’s not take kindness for weakness. Let this giant sleep. I beg u all. No one really wants destruction, not even me but I shall destroy if disturbed. On me. Love.”

As for Lamar’s mention of Wayne, he rapped on the track, “wacced out murals”: “I used to bump ‘Tha Carter 3’, I held my Rollie chain proud. Irony, I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down… Got the Super Bowl and Nas the only one congratulate me, all these n****s agitated I’m just glad it’s on they faces.” The lyrics come after the NFL chose Lamar as the headliner to the upcoming Super Bowl Halftime Show over Lil Wayne.

Wayne felt that with his hometown of New Orleans hosting the game, the league should’ve selected him as the performer. Reflecting on their decision at his recent Lil Weezyana Festival, he told his fans: “I said to myself, ‘I want to be onstage for the Super Bowl one day, in front of my mom.’ And I worked my a** off to get that f**kin’ position. It was ripped away from me. But this moment right here — they can’t take that away from me.”

Kendrick Lamar Wants To Change A Woman’s Life For The Better On SZA-Assisted “Luther”

The wild return of Kendrick Lamar is reuniting him with SZA and twice we may add. If you haven’t been keeping count, it’s been a stunning six years since their last collaboration. That of course was their mainstream pop rap/R&B crossover “All The Stars” off the Black Panther soundtrack. Whatever it is, these two former label mates always get into their more sensual bags. The same is the case on “luther,” the first joint effort between Kendrick Lamar and SZA on GNX. The former kicks the track off this love story by giving us some context as to who he has eyes on.

It sounds like it’s a stripper, possible sex worker, or just a promiscuous woman who’s misunderstood. “Hey, Roman numeral seven, bae, drop it like it’s hot / If this world was mine, I’d take your dreams and make ’em multiply / If this world was mine, I’d take your enemies in front of God,” he raps in his more monotone and stuffy delivery. SZA then pops in on the chorus and portrays this woman going forward as she’s hopeful that better days are coming for her thanks to this man (Kendrick). They harmonize pretty well, with SZA’s vocals soaring and taking the spotlight at those points. See where this Kendrick and SZA collab ranks for you by checking it out with the link below.

Much has been said about Kendrick Lamar getting the Super Bowl spot in New Orleans instead of Lil Wayne. Now it’s time for Lamar to speak on it. On “wacced out murals” from his GNX album, Lamar addressed the controversy.

Miss my uncle Lil’ Mane, he said that he would kill me if I didn’t make it
Now I’m possessed by a spirit and they can’t take it
Used to bump Tha Carter III, I held my Rollie chain proud
Irony, I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down
Whatever, though, call me crazy, everybody questionable
Turn me to an eskimo, I drew the line and decimals

Won the Super Bowl and Nas the only one congratulate me
All these niggas agitated, I’m just glad they showin’ they faces
Quite frankly, plenty artists, but they outdated
Old-ass flows, tryna convince me that you they favorite

Ralfy The Plug Shows Respect To Kendrick Lamar For “GNX” Following Host Of Drakeo The Ruler Comparisons

GNX has taken over the rap world this afternoon thanks to one of the most out of nowhere releases in recent memory. Kendrick Lamar is sitting on the throne once again in 2024, even though he never really left it to begin with. It boasts 12 all-new tracks, unless you don’t count “squabble up” as one of those. So far, his fans are not surprisingly anointing it as the best record of the year. It is really early, but on our first few listens, it sounds like there will be a lot to uncover. There are tracks that are already hitting for us and for others, which is a great sign. But you know a new album is great when even an artist’s staunchest haters are appreciating it.

DJ Akademiks is one of those people, and his review was a shocking one. He was defending it against some of his livestream viewers that were tearing it down. You could maybe throw in Ralfy the Plug too, who’s past thoughts would suggest just that. In an interview right after the Pop Out, Ralfy alluded that Kendrick Lamar may not have a lot of respect for the former’s late brother, Drakeo the Ruler. “There was probably a lot of people on that stage that probably don’t like Drakeo,” he said. Overall, the latter has been widely credited as one of the most influential voices and trendsetters in the West Coast.

Ralfy The Plug Salutes Kendrick Lamar For GNX

https://twitter.com/ralfythep/status/1860030063133245557?s=12&t=6N2L99mKx7LzXYhb_3_zwQ

But still, despite the late and very great Nipsey Hussle was deservedly given a tribute at Kendrick’s unifying show, he felt Drakeo should have as well. On top of this, Ralfy the Plug also believed that Lamar bit off of his sibling’s flows for “Not Like Us,” which also stirred up some controversy. However, he seems to have moved past any potential issues because he’s also giving high marks for Lamar’s record.

He tweeted out, “I ain’t gone lie this new tape is kdot not Kendrick or Kenny he came kdot on that tape🔥and he got some 🏆s on there🫡” He may be coming around to the fact that Lamar does in fact have a lot of respect for Drakeo because many fans on Twitter are seeing the shout outs. “Every beat.. every beat bruh a knocker.. rip drakeo the ruler man. Stamp he would’ve f***ed round been one these jaunts,” one user writes. “Kendrick been showing Drakeo a lot of love man. I love that s***. I know there’s a lot of LA politics involved with Drakeo and his death, but Kenny been helping to Keep The Truth Alive. Long Live Drakeo the Ruler,” another adds. Overall, it’s good to see MCs from the same region showing love to their contemporary, and everyone seems to be all smiles with the release of GNX today.

DJ Akademiks Gives His Highly-Anticipated Review Of Kendrick Lamar’s “GNX”

Kendrick Lamar is shutting up any doubters as to how great he’s been in 2024. Just several hours ago, Kung Fu Kenny put out GNX moments after dropping a one-minute teaser trailer of sorts on YouTube. Many were expecting this to just be the start of the album’s rollout. However, he fooled everyone by giving the hip-hop world 12 new cuts to dissect and salivate over. There are many who are just plain floored right now, and others who are already dubbing it the best of the year. However, you know there are bound to be a few party poopers, like one DJ Akademiks. If you have been following the controversial media pundit, you know he’s team Drizzy through and through.

He made that especially known in case some weren’t aware during Drake and Lamar’s highly public beef. However, Ak has recently come forward with a fairly positive review of GNX. He even did the unthinkable by defending the project after a group of folks tuning into his livestream claimed it was a “3/12” listen. He did say that it showed similarities to Lamar’s most accessible tape, DAMN., which has received some criticisms for being too safe.

DJ Akademiks Surmises That Kendrick Lamar Has Something Else Up His Sleeve

But DJ Akademiks came clean and said that “we have to be fair… it’s a dope tape.” He thinks Lamar also made a smart move dropping at a time where many were clamoring for a new LP. However, he surmises that this isn’t the album that’s been hinted at for months. Despite the fact that every publication has called it his sixth studio album, Akademiks believes that Lamar is up to something.

“We don’t know what his next album is gonna be. Now I get it. It’s on Spotify and you’re gonna be like ‘no this is his next album,’ this ain’t his next album, right. This is a tape.” It’s an interesting take for sure, however, Kendrick is not one to drop multiple times a year. Overall, it’s rare that we get a single every 12 months from the Compton creative. Then again, K. Dot hoodwinked everyone today, so who really knows if this is just another type of untitled unmastered. situation.
