An Eminem Fan Used His New ‘Fortnite’ Skins To Recreate The Famous ‘8 Mile’ Rap Battle In The Game

Fortnite players recently had a field day, after someone turned Eminem’s rap battle from 8 Mile into an actual in-game experience. Recently, the rapper collaborated with the video game to offer users the chance to play as him with new skins being added — and they sure got creative.

In the clip, Eminem faces off against Marvel’s The Falcon, played by Anthony Mackie, who was the same actor he rapped against in the actual movie. So, it’s close enough.

Eminem’s manager, Paul Rosenberg, even gave his approval after replying to a Twitter post. “I mean… wow!” he wrote.

It’s also worth noting that the turnaround to do this was incredibly fast, as the Eminem skins only went live on Fortnite yesterday (November 29). This offered three choices of outfits for players, including one of him as Slim Shady, “a Rap Boy costume, and a Marshall Never More” one, according to HipHopDX.

“B just like me,” Eminem captioned with a preview of the Shady look on Instagram.

As a partner with the company, he will also be appearing at Fortnite‘s Big Bang event, where fans can catch a virtual concert — putting him among previous ones like Travis Scott and more.

Eminem “Fortnite” Skin Used To Recreate Iconic Rap Battle From “8 Mile”: Watch

An enterprising Fortnite player has utilized several in-game assets, including the recently released Eminem skin, to recreate the final rap battle from 8 Mile. In a video posted to social media, the player incorporates audio from the film over in-game footage of Eminem’s skin squaring off with Falcon from the MCU. Falcon is portrayed by Anthony Mackie, who also played Slim Shady’s opponent at the end of 8 Mile. The clip utilizes various emotes to add to the experience, and ends with Eminem killing Falcon with a shotgun.

The original TikTok has over 1.4 million views. Furthermore, the video on X, reuploaded by an Eminem fan account, has an additional 2.1 million views. While the video has been very well-received, it also garnered praise from a very high place. “I mean… wow!” wrote Paul Rosenburg in a quote tweet. Rosenburg is Eminem’s long-time real-life manager. The Slim Shady skin was released earlier this week and marks one of the final releases before the game transitions to its next update, “Chapter Five”. As part of the pre-transition “Big Bang” event, Eminem will be performing a virtual concert inside the game.

Eminem Soundtracks Call Of Duty Trailer

However, Fortnite is not the first video game that Eminem has been involved with this year. Back in October, Slim Shady’s iconic vocals could be heard in a trailer for the multiplayer mode of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. The Detroit rapper’s 2002 hit “Till I Collapse” scored a cinematic trailer showcasing the ultra-cinematic violence of the game’s multiplayer mode. Furthermore, the trailer also confirmed the news that a host of iconic maps from the original Modern Warfare trilogy will be returning for this new Modern Warfare 3. However, it’s not the rapper’s first Call Of Duty collab. Back in 2013, he released the track “Survival” for Call Of Duty: Ghosts.

While old maps and fan-favorite modes are returning, Activision is trying a few new things with Modern Warfare III. One of the biggest additions will be Cutthroat, a 3v3v3 mode that is briefly featured and highlighted in the trailer. The new features will likely be highlighted in more detail at the October 5 multiplayer preview event. Meanwhile, the game will be released on November 10. Activision has previously confirmed that cosmetics and other purchases from Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0 will carry over to the new game. The game released to mediocre reviews on November 10.

Eminem Confirmed He Will Be ‘Playing Fortnite With Your Grandma’ In A Teaser For The Upcoming Final Event

It’s been a minute since Eminem has put out new music — but the Detroit rapper has had quite an eventful past few weeks. Earlier this month, he made his Mom’s Spaghetti sauce available for purchase from online retailers, just two years after the namesake storefront opened in his hometown. Today (November 21), the “Lose Yourself” hitmaker announced he would be stepping into the video game realm.

In a teaser shared to Em’s Instagram account, the rapper teased involvement with the upcoming Fortnite finale event. The video clip shows an old-style television screen with the Fortnite logo flashing, then flashing Eminem’s signature backwards “E” logo.

The post’s caption reads “calling all grandmas 12.2.” alluding to a lyric from “Tone Deaf,” a song from his 2020 album, Music To Be Murdered By.

A snippet of the song plays in the video clip, specifically a line in which Em raps “I can make ‘orange’ rhyme with ‘banana’ /
Ornana / Eating pork rinds, sword fightin’ in pajamas / At the crib, playin’ Fortnite with your grandma.”

Though neither Fortnite nor Eminem have revealed the capacity to which the rapper is involved with the December 2 finale events, some leaks (per Forbes) have shown that Eminem skins will be available for players of the game.

You can see the teaser above.

For now, it doesn’t seem as though he is working on a new album. That said, you never know with the artist. He has been known to drop surprise albums in the past.

In fact, it seems like Em’s latest move is one that will actually surprise a lot of fans. If you follow the video game sphere, you know that Fortnite just brought back the OG map. For a lot of gamers, this is a very significant development. Fortnite is massive and there is a lot of nostalgia for that 2018 map. Well, the map is going to be going away on December 2nd and the game is hosting a live event to change the map over.
