Cam Jordan Intends To Retire With Saints Following New Extension

Cam Jordan has announced his intention to retire as a member of the New Orleans Saints after signing a two-year extension with the team. The eight-time Pro Bowler, who turned 34 last month, was drafted by the Saints in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft. In the last decade-plus, he has become one of the league’s most dependable defensive ends, racking up over 600 tackles and 100 sacks. Alongside his eight Pro Bowl appearances, he was also named First Team All-Pro in 2017.

According to Jordan’s representatives, he has now signed a two-year, $27.5 million extension with the Saints which will keep him in New Orleans through 2025. “I want to finish my career here,” Jordan said. “I want my storyline to be here.” He continued, I would love that my story has been drafted here, kept here, been here, never played a season without guaranteed money here. Aaron Rodgers has made his move to New Jersey official. While the veteran quarterback was traded to the New York Jets in late April, Rodgers has only recently put down roots in the area. According to the Daily Mail, Rodgers recently closed on a $9.5 million mansion in Montclair. Described as an “ultra-private architectural masterpiece,” Rodgers’ new home encompasses 4000 square feet and sits on two acres of private land. Furthermore, it reportedly has eight bedrooms, ten bathrooms, and a three-car garage. Built in 2022, the house sits about 10 miles from MetLife Stadium.

According to property records, the house was sold at the end of June. However, it is unclear if Rodgers has moved into the home. For most of his tenure with the Packers, Rodgers lived in a 4012-square-foot mansion in Suamico, Wisconsin. He also maintained properties in San Diego and Malibu. Despite his living status being unclear, Rodgers has been impressing his new team during training camp. Rodgers’ decision to drop nearly $10 million on a home in New Jersey further shows his intention to not simply be a “one and done” rental quarterback for the Jets. He recently restructured his contract with the team, taking a $35 million pay cut in order to help with cap space. LSU Announce New Policy To Combat Sports Betting

Sports betting is a major issue in 2023. As more states legalize the practice, the adverse effects are becoming more and more clear. Earlier this week, seven current and former players at Iowa and Iowa State were criminally charged in relation to sports betting violations. This includes Hunter Drekkers, Iowa State’s projected QB1 for the 2023 season. The Iowa Racing and Gambling Commission has stated that they do not believe any match-fixing occurred. However, the scope of the investigation is huge. The seven athletes are believed to have placed more than 5000 wagers totaling more than $100,000 between January 2021 and May 2023.

The effects of this massive scandal are being felt 800 miles in Louisiana. While no players from LSU have been implicated in the scandal, football coach Brian Kelly is worried about the impact of sports betting. “I’m not saying that happened. I’m not saying that would happen,” Kelly said. “I think it’s better to be proactive in those situations and take away even the temptation to even have that in this building and not be that next school that goes down that path.” Kelly’s announcement concerned a hypothetical situation where sports bettors harassed team staff for inside information. Furthermore, Kelly is implementing a new protocol to keep his team safe.

To minimize the information available to sports bettors, LSU is introducing a new injury reporting protocol in 2023. Team injuries will be reported twice a week in a system that is more similar to that of the NFL. “I thought it was important given the nature of what’s going on today out there relative to reporting and gaming,” Kelly said. “We wanted to make sure that we were transparent with injuries. Not putting any pressure on anybody here to guess who’s in, who’s out” for a given game. When we get to Saturday, if somebody is doubtful, we’ll give you ‘available,’ or ‘unavailable,’” Kelly said.

This new policy also comes alongside new team rules. LSU will mandate that no staff or players have gambling apps installed on their phones. “There shouldn’t be any of those (apps) on any of our players’ phones or anyone in this building,” Kelly said. Furthermore, Kelly dismissed the idea that he was sacrificing a tactical advantage by being more open about his team’s injuries. “I can’t tell you how many times we didn’t know a particular quarterback was playing. You’ve got to adjust on the fly,” Kelly said. “I don’t want it to be a situation where it causes something to the point where somebody loses their job or somebody loses eligibility,” Kelly added. “I mean, that’s a bigger issue than, well, we got a tactical advantage today because we found out he was playing.”

Video From Marquise Brown’s 2022 Speeding Arrest Released

Marquise “Hollywood” Brown received a less-than-ideal welcome to Arizona after being traded to the Cardinals last year. In August, the wide receiver was arrested for speeding. Reportedly, Brown was going 126 MPH in a 65 MPH zone. After being detained on Arizona State Route 101, Brown was booked into Maricopa County Jail for a Class 3 misdemeanor. The punishment for Brown’s arrest was not made public. Furthermore, Brown was not punished by the NFL for the incident. “We are aware of the situation regarding Hollywood Brown and have reported it to the NFL office as required,” the Cardinals said in a statement. “We will comment further as appropriate.”

Brown was traded on Draft Day 2022, moving from Baltimore to Arizona along with a third-round pick in exchange for a first-round pick. While the move reunited Brown with his college quarterback Kyler Murray, he had a down season in the desert. He was unable to replicate his 1000-yard season from 2021 and finished the year with 709 yards and three touchdowns. However, 2023 should be a bounce-back year following the departure of the previous WR1, DeAndre Hopkins. Despite this, people are once again talking about Brown’s arrest after TMZ obtained and released the arresting officer’s bodycam footage.

The officer appears calmer once back in his cruiser with Brown, referring to him as “bro” and explaining how to identify the carpool lanes, which Brown was also reportedly driving in. It’s not an especially exciting arrest video, as Brown is very compliant and eager not to anger the officer. That’s a major contrast to the recently released arrest video of DJ Hernandez. In that arrest video, the former college QB is seen asking officers to “shoot me” before being tased as he tried to approach them.

He quickly turned into one of the best D1 passers, throwing for 4537 yards and 42 touchdowns. However, the season was marred by a blowout loss in the Pac-12 Championship and then an embarrassing and improbable loss to Tulane in the Cotton Bowl.

Short of a historic collapse, Williams should be a first-overall candidate while USC stacks as a National Championship contender. Arrest Video Shows Aaron Hernandez’s Brother Asking Police To Shoot Him

DJ Hernandez, the older brother of Aaron Hernandez, was arrested on July 18. Hernandez had been accused of planning a mass shooting, with a woman who lived with Hernandez claiming that he had spent time scouting the campuses of UConn and Brown. Hernandez played for UConn between 2005 and 2007 and for Brown in 2010 and 2011. Furthermore, prior to his arrest, Hernandez had been posting increasingly concerning comments on social media. “Will I kill? Absolutely,” one post read in part. Hernandez had previously been arrested in March after throwing a bag of bricks onto the ESPN campus in Bristol, Connecticut, where Hernandez also lived.

Following the reports from a woman who lived with Hernandez about his planning mass shooting, police moved to apprehend Hernandez. According to the Bristol PD, Hernandez emerged from his home and repeatedly asked the police to shoot him. Additionally, he later had been incapacitated using a stun gun after threatening to kill the on-scene officers. While being transported to a hospital, Hernandez reportedly told officers he planned to kill anyone who had “profited” from his brother. Aaron Hernandez, who took his own life in 2017, played for the University of Florida before joining the New England Patriots.

Hernandez Arrest Video Confirms Suicide By Cop Plea

TMZ has since released the bodycam footage taken during Hernandez’s arrest. Hernandez is seen approaching officers with hands raised and can be heard repeatedly saying “shoot me.” Hernandez is then shot with a taser as he continues to walk towards the arresting officer. As he is being restrained, Hernandez says “It’s not fair, no one listens. I don’t do this shit. Dude, I need your help.” It’s unclear what Hernandez is referring to in that moment.

UConn said in a statement that it determined at the time that there was “no known imminent threat” while Brown issued a statement saying they had no record of Hernandez returning to the campus in recent weeks. As for the next steps, Hernandez will appear in court on August 1. He is facing charges including threatening, breach of peace and failure to appear in court. The latter of those charges stems from a July court date Hernandez skipped in relation to the ESPN incident. Currently, Hernandez is being held in lieu of a $250,000 bond.

Jordan Addison Cited For Going 140mph In A 55mph Zone

According to law enforcement officials, Addison was stopped on I-94 outside Minneapolis at 3:07AM on July 20. A state trooper had caught Addison’s Lamborghini Urus traveling at 140mph in a 55mph zone. The rookie was cited for speeding and reckless driving. “This remains an open investigation,” MSP officials said.

Of course, there has been a lot of focus on football players and dangerous driving in the last few months. An investigation found that, despite tragic deaths in January, a culture of reckless driving appears to have emerged at the University of Georgia. Furthermore, former Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs is looking at 3-10 years in prison after he killed a woman in a 2021 car crash. It is believed that Ruggs was going 120mph when he struck the vehicle driven by Tina Tintor. Tintor and her dog burned to death in the resulting crash.
