Von Miller Denies Assault On Pregnant Girlfriend

Von Miller has made his first public statement after being accused of assaulting his girlfriend in suburban Dallas. “Obviously, there are things that I can’t talk about but everything that was out is completely wrong and blown out of proportion. Me and my girlfriend, we have problems just like any other couple does. But there has never been any of those things that was alleged against me. Hopefully over time, all of this stuff will get cleared up. Sometimes life just … be life-ing. You’ve just got to keep pushing and keep moving. The people who know me and the people who have been around me know my character, they know who I am,” Miller told reporters.

Furthermore, he said all reported details of the incident were wrong. “All of it is incorrect. The only thing that is true is we do have a third son on the way. Everything else is untrue. Me and my relationship with my girlfriend is the same. We’ve got three kids, and everything is normal in that respect. And everything was blown out of proportion that day. It was just a crazy day, whatever happened, I hate it happened, I hate my name is attached to anything like that and it’s just a matter of time until I can clear it up,” Miller continued.

Miller surrendered to police in late November after a warrant for his arrest was issued. Per TMZ, Miller was booked and released on bond soon after. According to ESPN, Miller’s bond was set at $5000. He had been wanted by police in Texas since late morning Wednesday. The warrat came after they responded to a “major disturbance call” concerning Miller and his pregnant partner. According to an affidavit, an argument about Miller’s partner’s travel plans had allegedly turned violent. Miller allegedly shoved her, pulled her hair, and placed his hands around her neck on two separate occasions.

Miller was previously investigated on similar accusations in Colorado in 2021. However, that inquiry did not lead to any sort of formal police intervention. However, the report of his assault by his alleged victim paints a disturbing picture. According to the alleged victim, Miller had demanded that she leave their shared apartment as a result of their argument. However, she claims that as she tried to collect her things, Miller repeatedly assaulted her and smashed her laptop. Miller, who signed a six-year deal with the Buffalo in 2022, continues to play limited snap counts as he rehabs from an ACL tear.

Joe Flacco, who has become a playoff push hero for the Browns, is preparing to face his former team the Jets on Thursday Night Football. Flacco was waived in favor of Zach Wilson reclaiming the starting role after Aaron Rodgers went down with injury. However, as a result, Jets fans have begun to lament all the times that their franchise has seemingly gone out of its way to miss out on a franchise-altering quarterback.

This trend started in 1983 when the Jets passed on Dan Marino. Decision makers later said that they skipped Marino due to the Steelers passing on Marino. Marino was a hometown hero in Pittsburgh. However, Marino would then become a divisional nightmare after being picked by the Dolphins. Less than a decade later, a last-minute trade fell through, preventing the Jets from picking Brett Favre. Later in the 90s, the Jets, holding the No. 1 pick in the draft, didn’t do enough to convince Peyton Manning to forgo his senior year at Tennessee. Even as recently as 2018, the Jets passed on Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson to take Sam Darnold.

Aaron Rodgers Addresses Criticism For Coming Off IR

Meanwhile, Aaron Rodgers, who is expected to be QB1 for the Jets next season, has spoken out after being activated from injured reserve. “I assumed I was going to go on IR. I asked to be put on IR, but then there was a conversation. ‘Do you want to practice?’ I said not at the expense of somebody getting cut. I know how this works – I didn’t feel like I needed to practice to continue my rehab. I could do on-the-field stuff on the side, but, obviously, I got overruled there. It is what it is. This was an interesting situation,” Rodgers told The Pat McAfee Show this week.

Rodgers was activated on December 20, when his 21-day practice window closed. If he had been kept on IR, he would not have been able to practice with the team for the rest of the season. Despite having been eliminated from playoff contention and with no plans to feature Rodgers in a game, the Jets moved him to the active roster. This led fullback Nick Bawden to be waived and later signed to the practice squad.

Florida State Considering Raising Banner If Undefeated Season Continues

Florida State could further defy the institution of college football if they end their season undefeated. Players have admitted to serious discussions about raising a national championship banner if they end the season as the only undefeated Power 5 champion. “It’s only right. Nothing else needs to be said if we’re the only undefeated team,” linebacker Kalen DeLoach told ESPN. There are just two other undefeated Power 5 champions, with Michigan and Washington both playing in the College Football Playoff.

However, the team also stressed that they were strictly focused on their upcoming Orange Bowl matchup with Georgia. “The Orange Bowl is an awesome bowl, one of the best in the country, and we have a great opportunity in front of us playing Georgia. It’s still a big game for us, and we’re taking it serious. We’re focused on the guys we have here to help us win the game,” quarterback Brock Glenn said.

Florida State Short-Handed Against Georgia

Finishing 14-0 would be a great testament to Florida State’s tenacity given the short-handedness they have been burdened with heading into the Georgia matchup. A quarterback is the aforementioned Glenn. Glenn began the year as the third-string quarterback but will make his second career start following the ACC championship game. QB1 Jordan Travis remains sidelined with a broken leg. Meanwhile, second-stringer Tate Rodemaker announced he would be skipping the game to enter the transfer portal. Several other players have announced that they will skip the game, either to focus on the NFL Draft or enter the portal. Overall, nearly 20 players will be unavailable for the Seminoles.

Meanwhile, Georgia will be looking to bounce back from the loss that ended their title defense and arguably led to Florida State’s snub. Furthermore, despite nearly 20 Bulldogs either transferring or draft declaring, head coach Kirby Smart has said the team will largely be a full strength besides injuries. “Right now we’ve got our guys that are healthy playing. Guys that are completely healthy and cleared to play, they’ve all said they’re going to play. They’ve been practicing, doing everything. We do have guys dinged up and injured that have been trying to fight their way back. We’ll see if they can go or not in the game,” Smart said.

Russell Wilson Reportedly Expects To Be Cut In The Offseason

Russell Wilson reportedly expects to be a free agent in the 2024 offseason following his benching by the Broncos. According to reports from Bleacher Report and ESPN, Wilson fully expects to be cut because he refused to defer his injury guarantee to 2025. Wilson’s weighty contract includes an injury protection clause if he is unable to pass a physical in March 2024. However, Wilson was reportedly asked to defer that guarantee to 2025 and refused. According to Dianna Russini of ESPN, the threat of benching was leveled at Wilson earlier in the season because of this. At the time of writing, Jarrett Stidham will start the last two games of the Broncos’ season.

However, head coach Sean Payton denied that financial flexibility was playing any part in Wilson’s benching. “I understand all the speculation and everything that surrounds a move like that. I can tell you — look, we’re desperately trying to win. Sure, in our game today there are economics and all those other things. Broncos Face A Financial Headache With Russell Wilson

Russell Wilson is expecting to be cut by the Denver Broncos in March, per league sources. For almost two months, the quarterback has been starting knowing the organization was most likely going to move on him from after this season.

In short, the Broncos owe Wilson a lot of money, and benching him potentially saves them having to pay out even more money. However, the team can’t simply just cut the veteran. There is a lot of guaranteed money baked into Wilson’s contract that the Broncos will owe him either way. If they do cut Wilson, they will also be hit with $85M in dead money. That would greatly impact the options that would be available to Payton and the team in replacing Wilson.

However, it’s clear that Wilson isn’t the answer that the Broncos were hoping he would be. While his play has declined somewhat, he is not a terrible quarterback by any means. Despite this, the bigger problem is that the Broncos have not been able to put together a team with consistent chemistry. The answer might be to reset completely and use their projected 13th-overall pick to draft the best available quarterback. That is currently projected to be Michigan’s JJ McCarthy or Washington’s Michael Penix Jr. Meanwhile, Wilson will likely be able to find a team like Atlanta, New York (Giants), or New England looking for a veteran QB. However, this is a story that is likely going to play out for the coming months.

With two games left in the NFL season, the Denver Broncos have benched Russell Wilson. “I understand all the speculation and everything that surrounds a move like that. I can tell you — look, we’re desperately trying to win. Sure, in our game today there are economics and all those other things. But the No. 1 push behind this — and it’s a decision I’m making — is to get a spark offensively,” head coach Sean Payton said.

Wilson’s benching comes after the team lost to the Patriots last weekend. It was their third loss in four games, a trend that derailed boosted playoff hopes thanks to a five-game winning streak earlier in the season. However, as Payton alluded to, there is speculation about an ulterior motive for the benching. Wilson gets an extra $37M in guaranteed money if he can’t pass a physical next March. Benching him increases the odds that the Broncos will be able to save some money on the QB’s hefty contract.

Taking Wilson’s place under center is Jarret Stidham. Stidham signed a two-year, $10 million contract with Denver in the offseason but will be making his first start of the season this week. “Obviously it’s difficult and all of us feel like, ‘Man, we didn’t do well enough’. But one of the things we saw when we signed Stidham in the offseason is not only film from preseason games, but regular-season games. He’s a guy that I’m anxious to see play,” Payton said.

After stints at Baylor and Auburn, Stidham was a fourth-round draft pick in 2019 by New England. After appearing in eight games over three seasons, he was traded to Las Vegas in 2022. There he made his first two career starts, replacing Derek Carr for the final two games of the regular season. Despite going 0-2, Stidham impressed the league, especially as he helped take the 49ers to overtime in his first start. His first start in Denver comes against the Chargers.

The 2023 Duke’s Mayo Bowl matchup sees two 8-4 teams in North Carolina and West Virginia facing off in Charlotte. The Tar Heels will be without starting quarterback Drake Maye, who opted out of the game to prepare for the NFL Draft. However, the Tar Heels has an excellent run game with Omarion Hampton, who finished the season with 1442 on the ground, best for fifth in the nation.

Meanwhile, West Virginia rode a tough Big 12 schedule to their own 8-4 record. Junior Garrett Greene will lead the Mountaineers in their first bowl game since 2021. Greene had a little under 3000 passing yards this season as the Mountaineers displayed a fairly balanced offense. However, they will need to their defense, ranked 69th in the country, to step up to put pressure on North Carolina’s inexperienced signal caller. With Maye sitting out, the Mountaineers are favored by five coming into the game.

Jaire Alexander Suspended For Coin Toss Blunder

Jaire Alexander has been suspended for one game by the Green Bay Packers for his actions during the coin toss against the Panthers last weekend. Alexander joined the team captains for the toss and won with a call of tails. However, Alexander then declared that the Packers “wanted to defend”. It served as proof that Kelce’s relationship with Taylor Swift is still going strong.

Meanwhile, Scott and Andrea Swift, Swift’s parents, were spotted mingling with Ed Kelce, Kelce’s dad, at the Chiefs’ game against Las Vegas over Christmas. The meeting was captured by a Chiefs fan who had their camera turned towards the Kelce family box at Arrowhead Stadium. However, Kelce’s mother Donna was not present as she was in Philadelphia to watch Jason Kelce. As mentioned, the Jets are now officially eliminated from playoff contention, which had been Rodgers’ primary condition for returning. However, with six wins, the Jets are not in contention for the first-overall pick. Richard Sherman and Keyshawn Johnson are two of the newest faces on Undisputed. Overall, they were brought in to replace Shannon Sharpe. Unfortunately, Sharpe is a personality who is impossible to replace. Furthermore, as many fans have pointed out, Skip Bayless just doesn’t have the same chemistry with these two. Regardless, the show persists and typically, the biggest arguments are between Sherman and Johnson. Sometimes, these conversations can get pretty heated and it leads to some good TV.

For instance, on Tuesday morning, these two had it out over the NFL MVP conversation. In the eyes of Johnson, it is very obvious right now that Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens, deserves the MVP award. He has been phenomenal so far this season and has led his team to a league best 12-3 record. However, Sherman believes the MVP award could actually go to a QB who may not even make the playoffs. The quarterback in question is none other than Josh Allen for the Buffalo Bills.

Based on the statistics, Allen is responsible for more touchdowns than any quarterback in the league. Therefore, Sherman believes this makes him the MVP compared to Jackson. Johnson was flabbergasted by this take and immediately let his displeasure be known. He ultimately walked off of the set, and left Skip right there by himself. It was pretty hilarious, and we can imagine a lot of fans were left in agreement with what Johnson did in that situation. After all, making Allen the MVP would be laughable knowing what we know right now.
