Charlamagne Tha God Argues The Clock Is Ticking For Kendrick Lamar After Drake’s “Push Ups”

Charlamagne Tha God says that the clock is ticking for Kendrick Lamar to respond to Drake and that “Push Ups” was an impressive counter to Lamar’s “Like That” verse. Speaking about the beef on The Breakfast Club on Monday, Charlamagne argued that Drake did something Kendrick never had with his song.

“First of all, I was highly, highly impressed by ‘Push Ups.’ Drake delivered a top-tier response to everything that was going on and this is coming from an OG veteran Drake hater,” Charlamagne admitted. “I love the record. He delivered. He did what he was supposed to do and he went further than Kendrick has ever gone. Because Kendrick has been throwing shots at Drake for years with very blatant subliminals, but Drake aimed right at Kendrick and said, ‘Okay, if this is what you want, then you got it.’”

Charlamagne concluded: “So right now, Kendrick’s on the clock. Kendrick is all the way on the clock. Drake gave Kendrick his ‘Takeover’ and now Kendrick has to deliver his ‘Ether’ if he got it.” Drake waited several weeks to respond to Lamar’s verse; however, numerous other artists came forward to shade him throughout that time. He addressed The Weeknd, Rick Ross, Metro Boomin, and more on “Push Ups” as well.

Rick Ross Implies Drake Didn’t Write His “Sicko Mode” Verse Amid Feud

Rick Ross implied that Drake didn’t write his verse on Travis Scott’s hit song, “Sicko Mode,” while listening to the track on his Instagram Story, Sunday night. The accusation comes as the two have been feuding in recent days. “Who wrote this? Guess who wrote this, you would never guess who wrote this,” he said while the song played. It’s unclear exactly whether Ross was implying that he wrote the verse or he simply knows that someone else did.

Regardless, many fans came to Drake’s defense when Hollywood Unlocked shared the clip on Instagram. One user wrote: “Doesn’t matter who wrote it … ghost writing is an actual JOB … who made the beat?? Who played the drums? Who did the keyboards? Who was the engineer? Who did the edits? Who mastered the track? It’s all a PROCESS.” Another commented: “It don’t matter who wrote it. Who got rich off of it? Easy on Drake!” Others accused Drake’s fans of not being real hip-hop fans.

DJ Akademiks Talks To Joe Budden To Figure Out His Issue With Drake

DJ Akademiks sat down with Joe Budden on his eponymous podcast, Monday, to get to the bottom of his issues with Drake. The two reflected on Budden’s back and forth with the Toronto rapper following the release of For All The Dogs, last year. At the time, Budden accused Drake of “rapping for the kids” with the project.

After explaining that his own criticism of the project came from the place of an “entitled fan,” Akademiks explained: “I think your criticism was a little bit different. I remember asking him, because me and him had a conversation. I was like, ‘I’ve supported your music, reviewed it, and whatever for over a decade now. You kinda seem sensitive for the very first time about criticism.’ And he was like, ‘Nah, Joe’s criticism wasn’t just regular criticism. This n***a, he knows me.’” In response, Budden labeled that unfair and explained that he doesn’t actually know him like that.

As for the comments that set Drake off, Budden argued at the time: “He rappin’ for the children. Yo dog, I had to look up how old this n***a was when I finished listening to the album. You are 36. Your birthday is in 20 days. I Googled that, too. You’re going to be 37 years old. Get the f*ck away from some of these younger n****s. And stop f*cking these 25-year-olds. I want to hear adult Drake rapping for adult people. … He’s rapping for the kids, the streams, the accolades. He ain’t trying to rap for me. I accept that.”

Styles P Weighs In On How Kendrick Lamar & Drake’s Feud Could Influence Hip-Hop

Styles P thinks Kendrick Lamar and Drake’s ongoing feud, which has now brought in the likes of Rick Ross, The Weeknd, and more, could inspire a return of competitiveness in hip-hop that the genre hasn’t seen in years. He shared his opinion on the situation in a lengthy post on Instagram, on Saturday. It arrived after Rick Ross fired back at Drake with “Champagne Moments.”

“Not that anyone asked me. But it’s pretty simple whoever can be the pettiest and most disrespectful and not worry about crossing boundaries while being witty and applying pressure will win,” Styles began. “Let the games begin im in the audience with the popcorn. Hoping this brings back competitive emceeing when it’s all said and done. I would bet a fingernail no one is gonna get hurt So this is verbal warfare which I like to see ..don’t judge me.”
