In a very unexpected, lopsided defeat, the Los Angeles Dodgers jumped all over the New York Mets in their opening outing in the National League Championship Series by keeping the Mets scoreless, beating them 9-0.
The Dodgers have now gone 33 consecutive innings in the postseason without giving up a single run, tying the MLB record for scoreless innings only with the 1966 Baltimore Orioles in the World Series.
L.A. managed to pitch a perfect 27 innings against New York, only allowing a walk by Mets MVP Francisco Lindor in the top of the fourth inning. Jack Flaherty gave up two hits in seven innings, keeping the Mets from scoring and didn’t allow a hit until Jesse Winker’s single in the fifth inning.
Mets starter Kodai Senga folded in the most important start of his career, walking three consecutive batters in the first inning and permitted six of the 10 batters he faced to reach base. Senga was pulled from the mound after throwing just 30 pitches, only nine of them were strikes, departing with the Dodgers up 3-0.
The New York bats were less than Amazin’ as well, managing only three hits the entire game. The top of the order, Lindor, Mark Vientos, Brandon Nimmo and Pete Alonso went hitless, striking out four times.
If their pitching and hitting wasn’t bad enough, there was first baseman Pete Alonso’s throwing error and Winker’s terrible baserunning mishap. Winker led off the fifth inning with a single to right field and Jose Iglesias followed with a single to center, setting up a first-and-third situation with no outs. in a potential rally. Winker, who could’ve easily made it to third, looked at center fielder Enrique Hernandez, who faked as if he was going to throw to third base. Winker stopped running and Hernandez threw the ball to second base. Winker got caught in an unnecessary rundown and was tagged out at third base.
The Mets never reached base again until after Flaherty left the mound.
Lindor and the Mets get a chance to redeem themselves this afternoon in Game 2 of the NLCS.
On Monday (Oct. 14), Vice President Kamala Harris revealed a list of policies focused on Black men,, according to The Huff Post.
Harris’ “Opportunity Agenda for Black Men” includes many proposals to boost economic and social opportunities. Among the key initiatives are providing one million loans to Black entrepreneurs and investing in Black male mentorship. Other initiatives include protecting cryptocurrency assets and legalizing recreational marijuana to ensure Black men’s participation in the growing industry.
In addition, Harris announced a health equity initiative targeting diseases that disproportionately affect Black men, such as diabetes and prostate cancer.
These policies stem from her ongoing nationwide economic opportunity tour, including visits to cities like Atlanta, Charlotte, and Detroit. During these stops, Harris discussed their economic and health challenges with Black men.
With Election Day just weeks away, former President Barack Obama has hit the campaign trail to support Vice President Kamala Harris. On Thursday (Oct. 10), Obama traveled to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a crucial battleground state where polls between the candidates remain close.
Recalling his famous campaign slogan “Yes, We Can,” Obama introduced a new version in support of Harris: “Yes, She Can.” He praised the vice president as “a leader who has spent her life fighting on behalf of people who need a voice and a chance.”
In his speech, Obama addressed the challenges Americans have faced in recent years, from the pandemic to rising inflation. He expressed empathy for the difficulties many are enduring, while also emphasizing the importance of leadership in such times.
Obama didn’t shy away from criticizing former President Donald Trump, describing him as “out-of-touch” and mocking Trump’s often lengthy and unfocused rally speeches, which he referred to as “word salad.” He also called out Trump for spreading misinformation, particularly concerning recent claims about FEMA’s response to Hurricane Helene. Trump has accused the administration of neglecting storm victims and redirecting FEMA funds to Democratic-leaning areas and migrants—allegations the administration has strongly denied.
“Everybody knew it wasn’t true, even local Republicans said it wasn’t true,” Obama said. He expressed dismay over Trump’s behavior, asking, “The idea of intentionally trying to deceive people in their most vulnerable moments—when did that become okay?”

Not even Nasir Jones himself knew the magnitude of what his career would be when the “Halftime” single dropped on October 13, 1992. Appearing on Nas’ monumental Illmatic album as well as the under the radar silver screen flick Zebrahead, Halftime was the smash single that put Nasty Nas in the position to be considered the “Second Coming” of lyrical pioneer Rakim by none other than The Source Magazine, who gave Nasty the coveted Five Mic rating for the landmark album.
Produced by Large Professor, who found his way onto Nas’ album by way of the LP’s other incomparable single, “It Ain’t Hard To Tell,” this song was the catalyst that launched the Illmatic project and Nas’ illustrious career.
In a new development that intertwines two of hip hop’s most infamous names, federal prosecutors investigating Sean “Diddy” Combs are reportedly collaborating with the Clark County District Attorney’s office in Las Vegas, which is overseeing the murder case of rapper Tupac Shakur. This latest revelation comes months after a bombshell was dropped in July, when Los Angeles gang kingpin Keith “Keefe D” Davis, a key figure in Tupac’s 1996 murder, was revealed to be an FBI informant who had linked Diddy to the crime.
According to The Sun, federal investigators have been in discussions with the Las Vegas DA’s office regarding potential connections between Diddy and the murder of Tupac. Keefe D, the only person charged in the assassination, has previously alleged that Diddy offered him $1 million to carry out the hit on Tupac during the height of the East Coast-West Coast rap feud. This explosive claim, which Keefe D has made in police interviews and media appearances, has never been fully corroborated by other gang members or supported by solid evidence. Diddy has long denied any involvement and has never been charged in connection to the murder.
The ongoing federal investigation into Diddy is reportedly linked to broader gangland activities, and the same investigative teams probing Diddy’s federal case are now coordinating with Las Vegas law enforcement. This collaboration aims to explore not only Keefe D’s allegations but also the larger network of criminal activities that may have surrounded Tupac’s murder.

Another day, another lawsuit in the entertainment world. There needs to be a show dedicated to this just to keep up. Anyways, Dr. Dre is facing a $10 million lawsuit from his former psychotherapist, Dr. Charles Sophy, who claims the music producer subjected him to harassment, threats, and homophobic rhetoric.
We previously reported the lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, alleges Dre, whose real name is Andre Young, engaged in a “systematic and malicious” campaign against Dr. Sophy, marked by a series of threatening texts and actions that began in February 2023. Dr. Sophy alleges that Dre’s harassment stems from unresolved frustrations related to mediation Sophy oversaw during Dre’s divorce from Nicole Young in 2021.
Now according to the complaint, Dre sent Sophy several “overtly threatening” messages, accusing him of an undisclosed offense and demanding he “pay for” the perceived wrongdoing. Dre also allegedly pressured Sophy to disclose confidential information from a separate therapy session with another client, which Sophy refused. As the harassment escalated, Dr. Sophy claims Dre even deployed men impersonating FBI agents to his home, leaving him in a state of constant fear.
“Dr. Sophy lives in constant fear. He wears a bulletproof vest anytime he steps foot outside, is afraid to leave his home and is constantly looking over his shoulder,” the lawsuit reads. “Nobody should have to live in constant fear. But Dr. Sophy does — ironically for no other reason than he tried to help Young to resolve his own family’s conflict.”
Furthermore, Dre’s legal team, however, denies these allegations and counters with their own. Howard King, Dre’s attorney, claims that Dre filed a “confidential complaint” against Sophy with the Osteopathic Medical Board of California for “dereliction of duties and incredible incompetence.” King alleges that Sophy attempted to coerce Dre’s children into turning against him during the divorce and encouraged one child to make false accusations to the press to secure a financial settlement.
Get this, King stated, “That complaint seeks revocation of Dr. Sophy’s license to provide mental health counseling… He was terminated when it was revealed that he was encouraging one of their children to take sides against Mr. Young.” King added that Sophy has refused to cooperate with the Medical Board’s investigation into these claims.
Dr. Sophy, in his lawsuit, denies Dre’s accusations and insists he tried to avoid legal action in hopes of resolving the matter. “There is no truth behind these baseless and far-fetched accusations,” the lawsuit asserts. “Dr. Sophy tried to let the threats go… Young, however, would not let go.”
