After successful showcases at SXSW and Seoul’s UrbanBreak, this exhibition is making its permanent home in Wynwood, perfectly timed to coincide with the 50th Anniversary of Hip Hop. The programming extends beyond the Art Basel week, exploring all four pillars of Hip Hop: MC’ing, Breakdancing, Graffiti, and DJ’ing.

In collaboration with StockX, the world’s leading marketplace for current culture, “The Art of Hip Hop” will kick off a grand opening weekend filled with programming and celebrations from December 5th to December 10th. This groundbreaking exhibition, titled “From the Bronx to the Beach,” offers visitors an opportunity to witness rare ephemera, showcasing the journey of Hip Hop from its roots in the Bronx with DJ Kool Herc to Miami’s very own pioneer, Uncle Luke.

“Since its inception, hip-hop has revolutionized sneaker culture. Most of our favorite pairs have been defined, in some way, by hip-hop’s legacy. Over the course of its 50-year history, the genre has been influencing brands and giving them cultural resonance. It is our privilege to work with The Museum of Graffiti to bring its exhibit to life, and to not only celebrate ‘The Art of Hip Hop’, but to honor the community that has shaped it.” says Deena Bahri, CMO of StockX.

Beyond the immersive experience, “The Art of Hip Hop” will house a world-class specialty gift shop and art gallery. Here, you can explore and purchase original paintings on canvas and sculptures spanning the last five decades.

Alan Ket, Curator and Co-Founder of The Art of Hip Hop shares his sentiment. “I fell in love with Hip Hop culture 40 years ago in the streets of New York. This historical exhibition belongs in Miami which has historically been a city with innovation and creativity in all the elements of Hip Hop. The public is going to love this.”

Jeezy Celebrates New Album at LIV Miami, Rick Ross Also in Attendance

Jeezy Celebrates New Album at LIV Miami, Rick Ross Also in Attendance

On Sunday, Nov.5th, Jeezy, the renowned “Put On” rapper, took the stage at LIV Miami to promote his recently released album, I Might Forgive…But I Don’t Forget, which dropped on Nov. 3rd. Donned in a Prada ensemble, the artist performed his hit tracks, including “Trap or Die,” “Bang,” and “All There,” to the delight of the audience.

Jeezy, who recently made headlines due to his divorce from Jeannie Mai, addressed the situation in his latest song, “Don’t Cheat.” The lyrics touch upon the importance of faithfulness, dispelling rumors of infidelity linked to Jeannie Mai’s close working relationship with Mario Lopez.

The night at LIV Miami also featured another rap heavyweight, Rick Ross, celebrating his lavish $35 million waterfront mansion on Miami’s Star Island, donning a Boston Celtics outfit. The “Hustlin’” rapper is gearing up for the release of his much-anticipated album collaboration, Too Good to Be True, alongside Meek Mill, set to drop this Friday, Nov. 10th.

Rap icon Jeezy makes a profound statement with his first independent release, a compelling double album titled I Might Forgive…But I Don’t Forget. This marks a significant moment in Jeezy’s career as it’s launched under his independent label, CTE New World.

The double album features I Might Forgive… produced by ATL Jacob, Ricky Polo, Cubeatz, Hendrix, and more, while But I Don’t Forget is entirely produced by The J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League. Through these albums, Jeezy delves into the people and experiences that have shaped his life, offering a glimpse into the personal and professional forces that have defined him.

After releasing his New York Times bestselling memoir, Adversity for Sale, Jeezy turned to therapy as a means of understanding his trauma and charting a path forward. With I Might Forgive…But I Don’t Forget, Jeezy extends his message of resilience to his fans, using his own life as an example of healing and personal growth. This double album is an invitation to join Jeezy on a transformative musical journey.

Charges Against Trae Tha Truth From Alleged Z-Ro Assault Have Been Dropped

trae tha truth

Last year, Houston rapper and local philanthropist Trae Tha Truth turned himself into police following reports of an alleged physical altercation he had with famed H-Town emcee Z-Ro, but almost a year later, Tha Truth completed a diversion program that reportedly cleared his name. As a result, his charges were dropped.

It was reported that Trae, whose real name is Frazier Thompson III. had allegedly assaulted Z-Ro during 50 Cent’s H-Town celebrity basketball weekend. Trae was released shortly after turning himself into authorities

Z-Ro went public with the assault claims, stating, “I’m from the streets and jumping people ain’t no street thing unless somebody raped somebody in your family, killed one of your loved ones, or tried to kidnap your child or something…but for just outright hate, jealousy or envy? Whatever it is, I can’t tell you what the real thoughts are because I’m definitely not going to incriminate myself and I don’t want to sound like a criminal. Right now, I’m breathing and existing in my own lane.”

This news comes as the rapper and philanthropist revealed that he was going hard with donations during the holiday season, including plans on making is providing a Thanksgiving-style meal for women and men currently locked up in the Harris County Jail.

WATCH: Ms. Lauryn Hill Addresses Her Tardiness During Los Angeles Tour Stop

Ms. Lauryn Hill Extends 'Miseducation' 25th Anniversary Tour

Ms. Lauryn Hill has a message for those who speak about her tardiness to show: “y’all are lucky.” Hitting the stage in Los Angeles, where she was also a bit tardy, Hill delivered a proper statement.

“Yo, y’all lucky I make it on this blood ras stage every night,” Hill said. “I don’t do it because they let me do it. I do it because I stand here in the name of God and I do it. God is the one who allows me to do it, who surrounded me with family and community when there was no support.”

You can hear Hill’s full statement below.

Last week, Ms. Lauryn Hill postponed another tour on her 25th-anniversary tour to celebrate The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. The living legend announced she was under doctor’s orders to rest her voice and had to push back the Fort Worth, TX date.

“As you may know, I’ve been doing my best to overcome a serious case of vocal strain/injury over the past week or so,” Hill wrote in a tweet. “I fought through the last couple shows, pushing my voice, and masking the injury with medication. This isn’t safe or sustainable. I woke up this morning hoping to have enough voice to get through tonight, but I can barely talk let alone sing or rap.”

She added, “I need to heal and rest the voice in order to continue the tour. For these reasons, sadly, my doctors have advised me to postpone tonight’s show. Much love to all of you for your support, and I look forward to coming back to Texas soon.”

Last month, Ms. Lauryn Hill postponed her Philadelphia show at the recommendation of her doctors.

“It is with disappointment that I am writing this note to you. On the advice of my physicians, I have no choice but to postpone the show tomorrow,” Hill wrote. “I need to rest my voice to prevent any more serious strain or damage to my vocal cords.”

After a triumphant headline set at the Global Citizen Festival with a surprise appearance by the Fugees, 5-time Grammy winner Lauryn Hill is extending her The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill 25th Anniversary Tour due to overwhelming demand. New dates added to the tour include Vancouver, San Francisco, Detroit, St. Louis, Atlanta, Nashville, Charlotte, Tampa, Miami, and Boston. Meanwhile, the Brooklyn, Washington DC, Chicago, LA Kia Forum, Oakland, and Seattle shows are already sold out.

“I’ve almost felt compelled to carry a torch or to keep a light shining regarding the continual performance of the Miseducation album. I believe there’s been a reason for that—and the Fugees coming back together for performances too feels like unfinished business we’re destined to handle. The connections are real and uncanny, and the magic and synergy between us has not been deterred by time. I believe the messages that we and the art we made embody something moving, meaningful and important for us and for the world. We gave voice and image to possibilities that emblazoned so many musical directions after us. As we were inspired, we also inspired countless artists who have shown up to express themselves in this musical space. Both the Miseducation and the Fugees’ material challenged and expanded convention, by paying homage to the past, while richly embracing the present, and emblazoning the trail for the future. We represent not just ourselves but our influences and our peers who took art, culture and inspiration very seriously—- who reshaped the landscape for ourselves and for those who would follow after us. I’m grateful to be able to celebrate this classic material and re-present it to an audience in this time.”

– Ms. Lauryn Hill

The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill profoundly impacted music, fashion, and culture. It was inducted into the Library of Congress in 2015, marking several historical milestones. The album was the first hip-hop album to receive a Grammy Award for Album of the Year, Lauryn Hill became the first woman to be nominated for 10 Grammy awards in a year, and she was the first woman to win 5 Grammys in a single night. This tour continues to celebrate the enduring influence of the album and the Fugees on the world’s biggest artists.
