Today in Hip-Hop History: The L.O.X.’s Debut Album ‘Money, Power & Respect’ Turns 25 Years Old!

On this date in 1998, Sheek Louch, Styles P., and Jadakiss, who are better known as the rap trio The L.O.X. (Living Off Experience), dropped their debut album on then-Puff Daddy’s steadily growing Bad Boy label. Following in the footsteps of artists like Craig Mack and Notorious B.I.G., the Yonkers collective had to go the extra length to prove themselves worthy to carry the Bad Boy legacy and that they have done and continue to do.

With production on this project from the likes of Swizz Beatz, D. Dot, Dame Grease, and Mr. Combs himself, there was very little chance that this project flop. Even with the shiny suits, the lyrical content and dexterity were on point from all three members, solidifying their slots as lyrical legends in their own rights coming into the new millennium. Tracks like “If You Think I’m Jiggy” and the album’s epic title track were both perfect fusions of street anthems with crossover appeal, which allowed the LOX a fanbase on both sides of the mainstream “boundary”.

Thanks to Diddy, D-Block, and the entire Bad Boy staff who helped to put together this timeless classic!

Adult Film Company Offers Bill Belichick $10 Million to be Adult Webcam Model

Adult Film Company Offers Bill Belichick $10 Million to be Adult Webcam Model

After the mutual decision of Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots to part ways, an unexpected offer has come to the Super Bowl-winning coach. Adult webcam site CamSoda has extended a jaw-dropping 5-year, $10 million contract to sign with the site and perform as an adult webcam model.

CamSoda recalled Belichick leaving his home shirtless and being caught on a Ring Camera, leading to the lucrative offer.

CamSoda’s Vice President, Daryn Parker, penned a letter to Belichick:

Dear Bill Belichick,

Congratulations on your coaching career. Your name resonates with greatness. You’re in the pantheon of great NFL coaches and you’ve etched an indelible mark on the sport of football.

We here at CamSoda – a leading adult webcam company – have been scouting you for some time. Ever since you walked out of that house shirtless on that Ring camera, we knew you had the physical makeup of a successful cam model. You have that barrel chest physique that so many women love. Not to mention the charm, the charisma, the bubbly disposition that pulls people in. Put simply, you’re a blue-chip prospect who has all the physical attributes and intangibles to make a lot of money performing on CamSoda.

So, given your newfound freedom, I’d like to formally sign you to become a CamSoda model. I would like to negotiate a 5-year, $10 million dollar contract with you that would have you performing weekly shows on the site. Clothing optional, of course. And to top it off, if and when you accept the offer, CamSoda will change its logo to a goat (out of respect, obviously) to let people know the greatest of all time is performing on the greatest adult webcam site of all time.

Take some time to consider my offer. When you’re ready to negotiate, please get in touch with me. I look forward to speaking.

– Daryn Parker

Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots have agreed to part ways, ending a 24-season run with six Super Bowl wins.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter confirmed the news following a series of meetings between Belichick and Patriots owner Robert Kraft. Shefter said the meetings had no conflicts or disagreements, resulting in a mutual decision.

Belichick’s exit follows a changing of coaching guard across all football, including the retirement of his friend Nick Caban and the transition of former Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll.

During Belichick’s run in New England, he amassed 333 career victories, 17 division titles, nine conference championships, and 12 Super Bowl appearances, and he has one of four undefeated seasons in NFL history.

Flavor Flav Says He is ‘King Swiftie’ After Discovering Taylor Swift’s Music

Who knew Flavor Flav was a huge Taylor Swift fan. Flav hit the The Grove in Los Angeles for the premiere of the Eras tour film. During his time at the event, Falv mingled with Swift's family and exchanged the frendship bracelets that have become a practice at Swiftie events.

Flavor Flav is standing ten toes down in his Taylor Swift love. Speaking on Hot 97’s Ebro in the Morning, Flav dubbed himself “King Swiftie.”

“It started because I got a girl that lives in Detroit and her kids wanted to go to the Eras Tour concert. So my manager got in contact with Taylor Swift’s people and they hooked me up some tickets and passes,” Flav said. “When we walked over to the tent where I was supposed to be at, a lot of these fans were coming up to me. These young kids, man, I’m surprised they even knew who I was!

“They start giving me these friendship bracelets. Next thing you know, I have friendship bracelets all up and down my arm. We were trading bracelets and everything! Her fanbase embraced me, and I embraced them back.”

Flav said after the show he began to take a deep dive into Swift’s music and made a comparison to Mary J. Blige.

“Mary writes about her experiences that she goes through, then when she gets out there on that stage and she sings those songs, mostly every single woman in that audience relates to Mary because all of the women go through similar things. Same thing as Taylor.”

You can hear the full story and more from Flavor Flav below.

In Cotber, Flav hit The Grove in Los Angeles for the premiere of the Eras tour film. During his time at the event, Flav mingled with Swift’s family and exchanged friendship bracelets that have become a practice at Swiftie events.

The Eras premiere also saw the two biggest stars on the planet, Beyoncé and Taylor Swift, hanging out. Making for a cute moment, the two sat in the first row at a movie theater and posed for a picture. Beyoncé would playfully toss popcorn to the camera.

“I’m so glad I’ll never know what my life would’ve been like without Beyoncé’s influence,” Swfit wrote on Instagram. “The way she’s taught me and every artist out here to break rules and defy industry norms. Her generosity of spirit. Her resilience and versatility. She’s been a guiding light throughout my career and the fact that she showed up tonight was like an actual fairytale.

Fat Joe, Jelly Roll, and Wyclef Jean Unite for Healthcare Transparency Advocacy Event

Jelly Roll, Joe, Wyclef

In a powerful display of unity, hip-hop icons Fat Joe, Jelly Roll, and Wyclef Jean joined forces with Power To The Patients to host an intimate event at Hamilton Live on Wednesday evening (Jan. 10). Attended by approximately 500 Congressional leaders and government officials, the event aimed to champion a more affordable and equitable healthcare system through enhanced price transparency.

Fat Joe admired Jelly Roll’s musical prowess during the gathering, commending his unique blend of rap and country. Backstage, he shared that he repeated Jelly’s hit song “Need A Favor” in 2023. The collaboration was part of their effort to advocate for healthcare transparency and affordability.

Wyclef Jean took to the stage, rallying members of Congress to chant “Power To The Patients” and urging them to press President Joe Biden to prioritize healthcare transparency.

The event shed light on the injustices created by hospitals and insurers concealing prices, hindering competition, and enabling the industry to avoid accountability for overcharges and price gouging.

Fat Joe and Power to the Patients have been pivotal in raising awareness on Capitol Hill regarding the pressing need for comprehensive healthcare price transparency legislation. In April 2023, Fat Joe met with Congressional leaders and the White House to advocate for enforcing price transparency rules neglected by many hospitals nationwide.

In September 2023, Fat Joe and Rick Ross, Busta Rhymes, French Montana, Method Man, and Chuck D unveiled a compelling public service announcement (PSA) with Power To The Patients. The PSA called for elected officials to commit to price transparency, promoting honesty, affordability, and equity in healthcare.

Their collective efforts extended to New York City, where, in June 2023, Mayor Eric Adams signed the Healthcare Accountability and Consumer Protection Act, establishing the nation’s first Office of Health Care Accountability. The act allows New Yorkers to compare hospital costs for the same services, marking a significant step towards healthcare transparency.

Wiz Khalifa Reveals He’s High At His Son’s Parent-Teacher Conferences: ‘They Expect It’

Wiz Khalifa

Rapper Wiz Khalifa revealed he’s usually high when he goes to his 10-year-old son Sebastian’s parent-teacher conferences. The father of one share he’d rather his son’s teachers connect with the real him. Wiz, 36, shares Sebastian with Hollywood influencer Amber Rose, 40.

“Hell yeah. I’m pulling up stoned. They expect it,” Khalifa said on a recent episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast.

“They know what’s up. It’s not like back in the day [where] you’re considered a bad parent if you smoke weed. I’m pretty sure my son smells like weed. I don’t know because I can’t smell it but I’m pretty sure he smells like pot.”

Wiz continued: “I’m pulling up high because I want them to connect with the real me. They’re not going to get a fake version of me or this made-up parent that society makes you think that you’re supposed to be. I am who I am, and it’s not because I’m a celebrity or anything.”

Wiz shares that he spends $10,000 on good quality weed that he lights up daily.

He said pot motivates him to work out in the gym every day.

“It’s because it’s really what I believe in and why not get the real me?” he says. “Why would I have to change who I am or act like I’m not that just for these places that I’m going to go? That’s not how I’m going to be living my life ever. Hell no.”

Wiz shared his experiences as a single dad in his 2019 docu-series, Wiz Khalifa: Behind the Cam.

He admitted “Bash” helped him to mature into a man.

“Bash is a huge part of that transition — and not being with his mother, too, because it forced me to be more responsible and do the things I wouldn’t normally do,” he said. “The older that he gets, the more influence I have on him. So it’s not as much as just makin’ sure he’s good; it’s actually being there.”
