Lil Uzi Vert Seemingly Confirmed A Fan Theory That ‘Eternal Atake 2’ Was Released To Get Out Of Their Label Deal

Lil Uzi Vert’s latest studio album Eternal Atake 2 wasn’t quite the project fans were expecting (justice for Luv Is Rage 3). But supporters were grateful nonetheless.

However, now that some time as past since Eternal Atake 2 hit streaming platforms, Uzi diehards have begun to overanalyze why the body of work’s arrival. According to a viral fan theory (viewable here), Lil Uzi Vert only dropped Eternal Atake 2 to fulfill their contractual obligations to Atlantic Records. Today (November 11), Lil Uzi Vert seemingly confirmed that online speculations with the help of Frank Ocean.

In their Instagram stories (viewable here courtesy of NFR Podcast), Uzi wrote “CFO” on top of a photograph of Frank Ocean performing at 2017 Parklife Festival in Manchester, UK. The upload wasn’t by happenstance.

Back in 2016, Ocean shook the industry with a groundbreaking Apple Music deal, which allowed him to exit his Def Jam contract and retain creative freedom while becoming eight figures richer (hence the “Chief Financial Office” or “CFO” caption).

Now, Lil Uzi Vert has been known to troll from time to time. So users online have taken their post with a grain of salt. However, Uzi’s previous remarks about their dissatisfaction with their label in the past has made this fan theory hard to ignore.

Eternal Atake 2 is out now via Generation Now/Atlantic Records. Find more information here.

Lil Uzi Vert Scores Top 10 Chart Debut With “Eternal Atake 2” Despite Fans’ Disappointment

Fans didn’t think that Lil Uzi Vert would do too well commercially with Eternal Atake 2, but even a disappointing performance compared to the triple-digit numbers of Pink Tape and the first Eternal Atake took them a long way. The new album, which many fans disliked per online discussions, debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 album chart with 59K units sold in its first week. This is the Philly superstar’s fifth top ten debut and falls behind Sabrina Carpenter’s Short N’ Sweet at number two and Tyler, The Creator’s CHROMAKOPIA at number one, its second consecutive week atop the chart.

Furthermore, this caused a lot of fans to debate the weight and significance of Lil Uzi Vert’s Eternal Atake 2, something that they already debated from a critical reception standpoint upon its release. While this is not as impressive as other commercial performances from them, they still remain a massive and resonant enough cultural force to chart higher than any brand-new hip-hop album this week. Plus, when you compare the rollouts and single pushes with other LPs, it’s easy to see how this did not have the highest performance ceiling, either.

Lil Uzi Vert’s Eternal Atake 2 Lands No. 3 Spot On Billboard 200

All in all, we doubt that Lil Uzi Vert minds this and is instead grateful for all the love and support for Eternal Atake 2, as their mission remains committed to their fanbase above all else. Also, this release pushed more extracurricular avenues for them that continue to speak to their cultural grip on many rap fans and music consumers. For example, Nike launched a new Eternal Atake 2 Air Force 1 Low, which is only available for friends and family at press time. Maybe it sees a wider release down the pipeline, which many fans would love to see.

Elsewhere, Lil Uzi Vert feels energized by Eternal Atake 2‘s release no matter if it sold ten copies or ten billion. They teased more new music coming soon, remarking that they remain hard at work in the studio with fresh material. Maybe the frequency of these drops will push Uzi further up the charts or more focused on what their core fans love.

Lil Uzi Vert Receives Poor First Week Sales Projections For “Eternal Atake 2”

In a pretty stacked week for album’s last week, Lil Uzi Vert was right up there with the rest of them with Eternal Atake 2. Outside of Tyler, The Creator’s CHROMAKOPIA, they may have had the most hyped release. That was thanks to the Philadelphia rapper and singer teasing the record strongly for a couple of months. Additionally, having zero lead singles may have helped with that too, as fans were ready for a fully fresh listening experience. However, not too long after its arrival, most of the hip-hop community had an adverse reaction to it.

Some have been labeling it as their worst body of work and others are convinced that the fall off is now real. Uzi albums of recent memory, especially Pink Tape, are no stranger to harsh criticism right off the bat. However, some were noticing a decline with that previously mentioned project, and they feel it’s been fully realized with Eternal Atake 2. With that in mind, it’s no surprise that the current first week sales projections for it are extremely disappointing.

According to HITS DAILY DOUBLE (via HipHopNMore), Uzi is staring at around 60,000 equivalent units in the face. Also shocking is that just 2,500 of that figure are pure sales. Just to put this in perspective, Pink Tape, while still a mediocre record in the eyes of many, still went number one and moved 167,000 just last year. Prior to that, the first Eternal Atake moved a staggering 288,000 copies. So overall, the predictions for this latest album are nowhere near up to snuff. Uzi is still most likely going to land at number three on the Hot 200 chart, but it’s still a steep decline nevertheless. Tyler, The Creator is projected to go number one in back-to-back weeks with around 150,000 units.

What are your thoughts on Lil Uzi Vert’s Eternal Atake 2 sales projections? Is the Philadelphia rapper falling off, why or why not? Did you enjoy the record? If so, where does it rank amongst the rest of their catalog? We would like to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments. Lil Uzi Vert Was Supposedly Denied A Complete Big Time Rush Collaboration On ‘Eternal Atake 2’ Due To Conflicting ‘Values’

Lil Uzi Vert has gone to get length to secure guest verse from huge acts like Nicki Minaj. But not everyone sees the “Chill Bae” rapper’s unique charm.

With Lil Uzi Vert’s latest project, Eternal Atake 2, on streaming platforms listeners noticed something off about its guest appearances. On Lil Uzi Vert’s track “The Rush,” singer Carlos PenaVega isn’t present despite being labeled as a Big Time Rush feature.

On November 1, Carlos PenaVega’s wife and fellow entertainer, Alexa PenaVega explained his notable absence in a post on X (formerly Twitter). “Today a song was released that featured the BTR boys minus Carlos because it did not align with his values,” she wrote. “While thankful for the opportunity Carlos kindly passed. Unfortunately it was not credited properly and is currently being represented as a BTR feature. Not a Kendall, Logan and James feature.”

Just what “values” Alexa is referring is unclear. But that hasn’t stopped her vague statement from causing an uproar online. Many are in support of Carlos’ alleged reasoning. While others slammed the singer for what and who he’s seemingly supported in the past.

Read Alexa PenaVega’s full statement below.

Hey friends. Wanted to hop on here to address something. We work super hard to protect our values and the things we believe in especially when it comes to creating content that is mostly family-friendly or what one would consider “safe”.

Today a song was released that featured the BTR boys minus Carlos because it did not align with his values. While thankful for the opportunity Carlos kindly passed. Unfortunately it was not credited properly and is currently being represented as a BTR feature. Not a Kendall, Logan and James feature.

As a wife who has watched Carlos navigate his values alone in an industry not set up for “family” I have been at times both incredibly proud and totally heartbroken for him. This is not putting anyone down. We just respectfully would like to make the people who follow us aware of the mishap and address that this was something he was not a part of.

God Bless

Big Time Rush Member’s Wife Explains Why He “Kindly Passed” On Lil Uzi Vert Song

Last week, Lil Uzi Vert finally dropped off their eagerly anticipated new album, Eternal Atake 2. The boy band Big Time Rush is featured on the project, but unfortunately, not all of the band’s members wanted to be involved. On Friday, Carlos PenaVega’s wife Alexa took to X to explain why he opted not to appear on the album. According to her, it all has to do with his values.

“Hey friends,” she began her post. “Wanted to hop on here to address something. We work super hard to protect our values and the things we believe in especially when it comes to creating content that is mostly family friendly or what one would consider ‘safe.’ Today a song was released that featured the BTR boys minus Carlos because it did not align with his values. Lil Uzi Vert Teases Dropping Music More Frequently

Lil Uzi Vert says that they have more new music on the way, following the release of their latest album, Eternal Atake 2, on Friday. Speaking about the project with Rolling Stone, Uzi confirmed that they’re “on go” with plans for more frequent releases. “Yeah. I’m on go. I’m not even lying,” Uzi told the outlet. “They thought I was lying a few minutes ago. Now the tape is coming, everybody’s like, ‘You weren’t lying.’ They swore I was lying. They were cursing me out.”

When Rolling Stone countered with the long wait fans had to endure for 2020’s Eternal Atake, Uzi explained: “That was different. That was different. I didn’t have a point to prove. Eternal Atake One, it makes so much sense, bro. It’s so crazy how it followed along. Eternal Atake One was the introduction of me going to a new realm. I went to a new realm, and everything was amazing. It was crazy. It was nice. Then I realized, ‘Wait, it’s too nice.’ And I had to make myself uncomfortable real quick to realize what I used to realize before I was rich. And when I realized it, I was like, ‘Okay, back to square one musically.’ Not bank account, but musically. So, back to square one musically with what you’ve got going on. Sounds like some sh*t.”

Uzi dropped Eternal Atake 2 on Friday and has been receiving mixed responses from fans. The project contains only one guest appearance with Big Time Rush collaborating on “The Rush” and encompasses 16 total songs. “Just listened to Eternal Atake 2 just to find out Lil Uzi Vert is washed,” one viral post on X (formerly Twitter) read on Friday. Another user wrote: “Uzi deadass forgot how to make music im crying.”

For fans of the record, Uzi also confirmed during the Rolling Stone interview that they plan on touring in support of the album. “This time, before I even know any official dates, I’m already locked in to start rehearsing,” they said. Lil Uzi Vert Clarifies Their Stance On Ebro Darden Amid Rumored Feud

Lil Uzi Vert has clarified that they don’t have any problems with Ebro Darden, after the radio host downplayed the legitimacy of them having achieved rockstar status. Rumors of a feud between the two initially began when Uzi teased a tracklist to their new album, Eternal Atake 2, featuring a song titled, “Chill Ebro.” The song didn’t end up being released officially when the project dropped on Friday, but Uzi discussed their feelings about Ebro during an interview with Complex.

“Ebro is a good guy, that’s my mans,” Uzi said. “I got a different respect for people that’s in hip-hop and anybody who’s my elder. So he has the right, and is entitled to his opinion because he’s definitely a staple in music no matter what…When I say rockstar, he’s looking at the fireworks, he looking at all that stuff. Not the lifestyle, and I understand that. And I wasn’t, especially me being younger, I wasn’t able to explain exactly what I meant.”

As for what exactly Ebro said about Uzi, he discussed the iconic rapper during a panel in 2022 that resurfaced ahead of Eternal Atake 2. “I love Uzi Vert,” he said. “I feel like he still hasn’t become the rockstar he said he would become, though. I’m still waiting. Maybe I took it literal, but the rockstars that I know, they were selling out MetLife Stadium. They could sell out Madison Square Garden eight, 10 times. They got hits on the radio, everywhere. Songs is everywhere.”

JT Congratulates Lil Uzi Vert For “Eternal Atake 2” Despite Negative Fan Reactions

JT and Lil Uzi Vert always support each other through thick and thin, so it’s nice when the latter circumstance comes up more often than the former. Moreover, she recently took to Instagram to congratulate them on their brand new album Eternal Atake 2, penning a message on how proud she is of her boo. “So proud of you always!” the former City Girl wrote. “My top 3 is light year, pears to mars & Mr.chow honorable mention chill bae! Really the whole thing but that’s being bias because you do no wrong in my eyes! Forever your #1 fan! Paint the world white my baby, congratulations on EA2.”

However, a lot of Lil Uzi Vert fans don’t share this same sentiment, at least when it comes to the top three songs debate and the quality of Eternal Atake 2 as a whole. Many of them expressed disappointment in this LP, throwing “washed” allegations left and right while speaking on how much more they prefer their older catalog. Of course, fan reception isn’t everything, especially when the Philly rapper has someone like JT there to share some love. Maybe this initially negative reception ages like milk or this project doesn’t stand out in the wider Uzi catalog in retrospect.

JT’s Message For Lil Uzi Vert

In addition, this follows some more backlash concerning Lil Uzi Vert, but for completely different reasons concerning JT. Some fans felt that she disrespected them when she didn’t post anything for National Boyfriend Day on October 3, as irrelevant as this aspect was for others online. Regardless of this omission, the couple’s pride for each other and in each other is usually no secret online. As such, maybe a specific post wasn’t necessary to show this, although it certainly couldn’t have hurt.

Meanwhile, as fans bicker and throw their hot takes around JT and Lil Uzi Vert’s music and relationship, they are just having a good time wherever they go. They’ve never been the type to get caught up in backlash, even though they’ve previously opened up about insecurities and celebrity pressures. Even if you weren’t a fan of Eternal Atake 2, you can be just as happy for the couple’s steady sailing.

Lil Uzi Vert Barraged With Fans’ Disappointment As “Eternal Atake 2” Reactions Roll In

Lil Uzi Vert finally dropped Eternal Atake 2 after months of teasing a follow-up to 2023’s Pink Tape, and fans were very excited to dive in. However, as you might have seen already on social media, a lot of die-hards and casual listeners alike weren’t feeling their style and approach this time around, leading to many disappointed reactions on the Internet. Of course, this is nothing new for the Philly rap star, as plenty of their projects in the past did not garner the warmest reception on impact. Perhaps this was just a bad day for fans after Halloween celebrations, but either way, it’s a divisive reception to say the least.

Plenty of fans still enjoyed Eternal Atake 2, but sometimes the most controversial opinion is the loudest. We’ll let you make your own assessment of this reception. Nevertheless, this album saw Lil Uzi Vert address some other controversies of theirs as of late, including fan concern over their alleged use of nitrous gas. “They said I was lost, they thought I was a dead guy, I was on the NOS,” they rap on the opening track “We Good.”

Lil Uzi Vert’s Eternal Atake 2: Stream

In addition, the release of Eternal Atake 2 brought about a controversy with the surviving members of the religious group Heaven’s Gate. They claim that Lil Uzi Vert’s album art is very similar to their logo, and threatened legal action in a new Complex interview. “Stay away from our Intellectual Property,” they stated in that conversation. “Give the Group some respect. Don’t try to offer to buy us off, like last time. We do not want your money, no matter how much it is.”

Fans React

Meanwhile, other Lil Uzi Vert naysayers were skeptical from the jump, including some comments from Ebro that let to a bit of a social media tussle. Regardless of your thoughts on Eternal Atake 2, we will see whether or not they address this reception in any way or if they just brush it off completely. In addition, we’re on the lookout for how other 2024 albums land with listeners. Check out more reactions to this new album down below.
