Stephen A. Smith Trashes Ben Simmons For Sixers Diss

Stephen A. Smith is a person who shows absolutely no mercy when he talks about certain athletes. In fact, his new podcast is quite literally called Know Mercy. Overall, Smith can be offensive with his commentary because he is so blunt. Although some athletes do take offense, he does not care. He gets paid to “tell the truth,” and he will continue to do so. His way of doing things has ultimately made him the success he is today. Additionally, without him, ESPN would be in a very bad place.

Over the weekend, Stephen A. found himself watching the NBA Playoffs. Of course, on Sunday, the Boston Celtics played the Philadelphia 76ers in a Game 7. Ultimately, the Sixers were pitiful and consequently, the Celtics won in a blowout. Former Sixers star and current no-show Ben Simmons had fun with this and made fun of them on his Instagram story. Well, Stephen A. did not like this one bit, and on his show today, he absolutely roasted the Nets player. Below, you can see just how scathing this rant was.

Stephen A. Goes In

“The only thing worse than James Harden was that sorry trifling a– Ben Simmons,” Stephen A. began. “How the hell are you talking about a basketball player when you treat putting on a basketball uniform and dribbling, when you treat that as if somebody asked you to get on the front lines in Ukraine to fight Russia? That’s how scared he is to play basketball.” Smith’s comparison in which he claims Simmons treats playing basketball like going to war, is hilariously brutal. However, that really is how it feels sometimes. Ultimately, it is not a great look for Ben.

Moving forward, no one even knows what is going to happen to Ben Simmons. He is not a very good basketball player right now. Moreover, he won’t even play any games. Needless to say, he is not particularly useful, and that could mean a trade is on the horizon. That said, let us know what you think of Smith’s comments, down below. Lil Dicky Came Up With A Fantastic Idea For A Stephen A. Smith ‘Dave’ Episode Off The Top Of His Head On ‘First Take’

The Boston Celtics and the Philadelphia 76ers are nearing the end of their NBA Playoffs battle at the moment, with Game 6 of the series coming up tonight (May 11). Before that, though, Pennsylvania native Lil Dicky (aka Dave Burd) hopped on ESPN’s First Take today and showed just how quickly his brain can work.

During the chat, Molly Qerim asked Dicky what a Dave scene involving co-host Stephen A. Smith might look like. The rapper/actor didn’t need much time to think about it before replying:

“Off the top of my head, I don’t know… I’m thinking about the Sixers and the Celtics, I’m just imagining: What if I got into a little bit of a gambling situation with the wrong bookie, and I need the Sixers to win or my life could end? And I find myself knocking on Stephen A.’s door at like 3 a.m. and telling him that tomorrow on First Take, he’s gotta do something that really eviscerates Jayson Tatum, to the point where it’s a distraction for the team. Something like… kind of a modern day Celtic Pride.”

Smith then came up with his own idea involving Dicky kidnapping a red-hot Tatum before Smith comes to the rescue.

Elsewhere, Dicky gave a pep talk to the Sixers ahead of tonight’s game, so check out the segment above.

Stephen A. Smith Responds To Anthony Davis Backlash

Stephen A. Smith is someone who has certainly angered people with his commentary. Overall, he is paid millions of dollars to be a provocateur of sorts. However, not everyone appreciates when he criticizes a player or clowns them for their performance. Although, there are instances when the fans at home watching have legitimate gripes with what he is saying. Today, we saw that as he took to First Take and began joking with Jay Williams about Anthony Davis’ potential concussion.

For those who don’t know, Davis was elbowed by Kevon Looney. The hit was so hard that Davis left the game. Subsequently, he was taken off in a wheelchair. Overall, it was a scary incident that had many fearing for AD’s health. Although he is likely to play in Game 6, it was still pretty bad. However, many felt that Smith’s commentary was distasteful. There was plenty of backlash online, and now, Smith is responding. Instead of getting defensive, Stephen A. apologized and noted that what he did was wrong.

Stephen A. Responds

“Blow back is Blow back. Comes with the territory, peeps,” Stephen A. said. “I was in no way minimizing the seriousness of a concussion. I was questioning whether Anthony Davis really had one, considering the play I saw & other hits I’ve seen him absorb. But, bottom line, it was wrong for me to do. Period! My bad.” Most of the time, the First Take host is completely unapologetic about this stuff. However, this instance seemed to be of a greater magnitude, and he understood that. As for Jay Williams, he has yet to respond to what took place. Whether or not he will remains to be seen.

His Original Comments

As for the whole Lakers Vs. Warriors series, the Lakers currently have a 3-2 lead. However, as the Corgi predicted, this series could very well end up going the distance. The Warriors seem hungry, and the Lakers are going to need to want it if they hope to make the Conference Finals. Having AD will certainly help the Lakers in that effort. Let us know what you thought of the Smith and Williams comments, down below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for more news from the sports world.

ESPN Fires Reporter For Insult Caught On Camera

ESPN recently fired reporter Marly Rivera after her actions were directed toward another journalist. The incident occurred earlier this month at Yankee Stadium. Rivera supposedly had a scheduled interview with Yankees star Aaron Judge. However, reporter Ivon Gaete had shown up at the same time, hoping to speak with the Yankees star. According to sources, Rivera grew tired of Gaete looking to speak with Judge. However, that’s when Rivera lashed out, insulting Gaete.

The moment was caught on camera, showing Rivera directing her comments at Gaete. In the video, you can see Judge awkwardly in the middle of the heated exchange with Rivera and Gaete. However, the network reportedly fired Rviera after reviewing the footage of the incident. If Rivera has any defense for her actions, the footage being released doesn’t put her in a great light. To see the video in question, check out the link to TMZ Sports below.

ESPN Fires Marly Rivera

The night of the incident was expected to be a big moment for baseball in New York. Shohei Ohtani and the Los Angeles Angels were in town to face the Yankees. Any chance to see Ohtani and Judge in the same ballpark is a can’t miss for baseball fans. So, everyone wanted a chance to speak with Judge before the big game. However, for Rivera and Gaete, the night quickly turned into a sour moment. In the video, Rivera visibly shows her frustrations in trying to get a few moments with Judge. A bizarre moment that I’m sure Judge would have loved to have been anywhere else.

The Yankees star can be seen at the beginning of the video signing autographs for fans. However, an all-out brawl was ready to break out behind him. While sports journalism can sometimes feel like a cutthroat business. As reporters attempt to be the first source in telling a story. However, now Rivera’s actions have cost her a job and maybe her career. Did ESPN do the right thing in letting Rivera go? Let us know your thoughts on the interaction in our comment section. Victor Wembanyama Declares For NBA Draft

Victor Wembanyama has been destined to be the number one overall pick in the NBA Draft for nearly a year. On Friday, the French phenom finally made it official. At 19 years old, Wembanyama is already facing a mountain of expectations before he even enters the NBA. Webanyama stands at 7’2 and can do anything on the basketball court. While many could be skeptical of his talents since he isn’t a well-known name. However, scouts have long been drooling over the intention of adding Wembanyama to their roster.

With the thought of Wembanyama joining the league, the term tanking has been popular. Tanking has long been an issue the league has tried to encourage teams to stop. However, it can be almost nearly impossible to know for certain that a team is tanking. Unless you’re the Dallas Mavericks. The Mavericks were fined for tanking after benching Luka Doncic in their last two regular season games for rest. However, the Mavericks waited too long to tank. The team will not be in the Wembanyama sweepstakes.

Where Will Victor Wembanyama Land?

There are a few candidates that are hoping their ping pong ball goes first in the draft lottery. The teams with the best chance would be the Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs, and Detroit Pistons. The Spurs have had a few down years, but the franchise has been known as one of the best of the last 25 years. Gregg Popovich getting the chance to coach Wembanyama would strike fear into the entire NBA. The Pistons would love to add the big man to their loaded young roster. A roster that includes a former number one overall pick already in Cade Cunningham.

However, we will not know who the winner of the Webanyama sweepstakes is until the Draft Lottery. Stranger things have happened, but it seems like the three teams mentioned above will have the best chance at landing Webanyama. Will Victor Wembanyama be ready for the challenge of being the face of a franchise? Is there any chance that someone is chosen before him? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section. Isiah Thomas Hangs Up On ESPN: Watch

Isiah Thomas is a believer in the old saying that a picture is worth a thousand words. The NBA Hall-of-Famer had an interesting interview with an ESPN Radio show on Wednesday morning. Thomas seemed to be slightly perturbed about a photo used of him during his phone interview with Keyshawn, JWill, & Max. He was actually so annoyed by the photo that Thomas hung up. The photo in question seemed to show a very serious moment, with Thomas not sharing a smile.

Thomas felt slighted by the serious photo. Because he felt the guests before him had photos of showing them in a happy setting. Whereas Thomas’ photo showed the former Pistons star in a more serious moment. Thomas teased show co-host Keyshawn Johnson about not looking out for him at the moment. Max Kellerman and Johnson both didn’t seem to take the issue too seriously. But after Thomas hung up over the matter, the feelings of Thomas seemed to start setting in. Check out the video of the moment below.

Isiah Thomas Not Happy With ESPN

Thomas has been no stranger to holding on to anger. Recently, the NBA analyst discussed his rivalry with Michael Jordan. In those discussions, Thomas stated that Jordan owes him an apology for the way he was portrayed in “The Last Dance.” However, Jordan has yet to make a public statement on Thomas’ desire for him to apologize. One would think that we also will never hear Jordan speak on the matter. Thomas and Jordan have long been rivals, and that isn’t changing any time soon.

Isiah Thomas’ moment on ESPN this morning was strange. Many are still of the belief that he was messing around with Johnson and Kellerman. However, it does feel like Thomas had real anger toward the photo used. Do you believe this is a non-issue that Thomas shouldn’t be worried about? Or is this issue just a small part of a more significant issue that Thomas and others may deal with? Leave us your thoughts on the situation in the comment section. Multiple Teams Pursuing Trade With Cardinals

The NFL Draft is rapidly approaching. On April 27, the NFL will descend on Kansas City as teams attempt to find their next stars. The 2023 draft is especially exciting due to its deep talent pool across multiple positions and the plethora of veteran stars who retired, opening roster spots for young talent.

There has already been plenty of movement at the top of the draft. Most notably, the Chicago Bears traded the first overall pick to the Carolina Panthers. It was the first time since 2016 that the first overall pick changed hands. With the move, a quarterback will almost certainly be the first player off the board. However, who is picked, and other trades could be coming, is a complete mystery.

“At Least Six” Teams Want Third Overall Pick

The Arizona Cardinals are looking to reload around franchise quarterback Kyler Murray. They currently hold the third overall pick, as well as seven other picks in the draft. Newly appointed head coach Jonathan Gannon will want to hit the ground running. While most mock drafts have the Cardinals drafting one of the generational defensive talents available, sources have told ESPN that at least six teams have inquired about trading with Arizona. With the draft as it is, the Cardinals could afford to drop back and still grab a defensive stud, along with added draft capital.

However, the question remains – who are these mystery teams? It’s likely that most, if not all, six teams are in need of a quarterback. Four highly touted quarterback prospects are expected to be drafted in the first round, if not the top ten picks. That would point to teams like the Raiders, Lions, and Titans. However, it could also be a defensive trade from a team like the Colts. The Colts currently hold the fourth overall pick and despite the Cardinals unlikely to go quarterback, the Colts could lose out on their preferred QB if a team leapfrogs them. However, fans shouldn’t expect a decision anytime soon. The Cardinals could take the decision all the way until they’re on the clock before pulling the trigger on a trade.

Kendrick Perkins Responds To Viral Video Of His Heavy Breathing

Kendrick Perkins became the butt of a joke recently after a viral video hit social media. The video appears to show Perkins heavily breathing during his appearance on First Take. However, Perkins says there’s a good reason behind the breathing in the video. In a reply to a fan on Twitter, Perkins claimed he is battling the flu. But the former NBA star took it even a step further. Emphatically stating that when some may take time off, that thought isn’t in his DNA.

The response seems like it was meant to be all in good fun. Dealing with something like the flu is never fun. However, Perkins powered through and delivered his segment. While it might not be like Jordan’s flu game, Perkins still delivered when asked. That;’s all you can ask from someone. Although his time on the show this morning wasn’t all centered around his battle with the flu. Perkins discussed the topic of the Dallas Mavericks sitting their stars with Stephen A. Smith. A topic that has garnered a lot of conversations.

Kendrick Perkins Doesn’t Allow The Flu To Slow Him Down

A lot has been discussed about the Mavericks decision this past Friday. The organization decided to sit star Luka Doncic while the team still had a chance at a playoff spot. However, the Mavericks didn’t hold their own destiny in regard to their playoff chances. In the end, the Mavericks wouldn’t have made the playoffs anyway. But sitting Doncic on Friday sent a strong message that the team didn’t have much faith, to begin with.

Kendrick Perkins became the target of a viral video Monday. But the moment doesn’t look like it has phased the ESPN star. Media personalities are under a microscope every time they are on the screen. It is great to see that Perkins was able to squash this situation before it got even bigger. Was it necessary to call out Perkins’ breathing on air? Should Perkins have even had to answer questions about his health? Sound off in the comment section with your opinions. For the latest NBA news, stay right here at HNHH.

Paul Pierce Reveals Reason He Was Fired From ESPN

Paul Pierce built his legacy on the court. The former Boston Celtics star became “The Truth” when it was winning time. The Celtics legend even helped bring a championship back to Boston. After his playing days, Pierce became a fixture on NBA on ESPN. However, the NBA legend lost it all after an Instagram story resulted in his firing. Now Pierce is speaking about the incident publicly. However, Pierce isn’t sure the firing was justifiable.

On Monday’s episode of the I AM ATHLETE podcast, Pierce spoke about the incident. “I got fired for having some entertainment… It’s girls dancing and we blowing some tree, what did I do wrong?” Pierce seemed to insinuate that what happened in his personal life shouldn’t have caused his firing. However, ESPN is a public company. Situations like the one involving Pierce are considered a bad look for such a popular company. Also, the parent company being, Disney, should give Pierce all the information he needs on the situation.

Paul Pierce Doesn’t Believe His Instagram Post Should’ve Resulted In His Firing

Pierce isn’t oblivious to the situation. He understands the public embarrassment that comes in a situation like this. The Celtics legend talked about apologizing to his daughter for his actions. Pierce felt the only apology he should do was to his family for displaying the moment to the world. Upon his reflection, Pierce stands strong in his beliefs on the situation. NBA fans have seen recently how public posts can hurt a reputation and even potentially ruin a career. Grizzlies star Ja Morant has seen his career take a massive turn with his recent Instagram troubles.

Paul Pierce will always be known as a legend for the Boston Celtics. However, the social media controversy will always be a part of his legacy. But the controversy doesn’t seem to affect who Pierce is today. In addition, it does feel as if Pierce feels he shouldn’t have been fired for his actions. Where do you stand on the situation involving Pierce’s firing? Do you feel he deserves a second chance in another media role? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section. For the latest NBA news, keep it right here at HNHH.
