NYC Mayor Eric Adams Shades Kyrie Irving: ‘One Player Can Bring Down the Synergy’

NYC Mayor Eric Adams

New York City mayor Eric Adams has jokes. Before Kyrie Irving was moved to the Dallas Mavericks, Spectrum News NY1’s Pat Kiernan asked the mayor what he would do about the Brooklyn Nets’ situation. Mayor Adams’s plan was to sabotage another team with his presence.

“I will find the team that beats us the most and send him to that team, because then we’ll start beating that team,” Adams said. “It’s about synergy in energy. No matter how much talent you have, your ability to interact with your colleagues is more important.”

He added, “One player can bring down the synergy of the team. And so I would send him to the team that beats us the most so we can start winning better.”

Days after requesting a trade from the Brooklyn Nets, Kyrie Irving officially became a member of the Dallas Mavericks.

After unsuccessfully negotiating a contract extension, Irving informed the franchise he would like to be moved by the Feb. 9 deadline or risk him leaving for nothing in free agency.

According to The Athletic, Irving was offered a contract extension with stipulations, but that was declined. “Principle differences” emerged after Irving declined the deal.

In return for Irving, the Nets will receive Spencer Dinwiddie, Dorian Finney-Smith, a first-round and multiple second-round picks.

Kyrie Irving Roasted By NYC Mayor Eric Adams

Kyrie Irving will no longer be a member of the Brooklyn Nets moving forward. On Sunday, Irving was traded to the Dallas Mavericks in a blockbuster move that will shake up the league. Overall, this move is something the Nets were forced into as Kyrie decided to request a trade. Of course, the team had little to no interest in fighting him, so they just made a deal as quickly as possible. Subsequently, they could be at risk of losing Kevin Durant, who won’t put with mediocrity for long.

As for Kyrie, he certainly built up his fair share of enemies while in Brooklyn. Although Kyrie didn’t pay much attention to this, there is no doubt that his foes were watching intently. One of these enemies was none other than New York City Mayor Eric Adams. Adams is the one who implemented the vaccine mandates, which subsequently led to Kyrie sitting out for home games last season. Interestingly enough, now that Kyrie is off of the team, Adams is still going after the point guard.

Kyrie Irving Called Out

During a recent interview on Spectrum News in New York, Adams got very honest about his thoughts toward Kyrie. Simply put, he believes the NBA superstar was not good for the Nets locker room. Consequently, he thinks that the trade was good for the team, moving forward. “I will find the team that beats us the most and send him to that team, because then we’ll start beating that team,” Adams said Monday. “It’s about synergy in energy. No matter how much talent you have, your ability to interact with your colleagues is more important. One player can bring down the synergy of the team. And so I would send him to the team that beats us the most so we can start winning better.”

Overall, these are some pretty harsh comments. However, it is clear that many New Yorkers feel this way right now. Moving forward, Kyrie will have to make it work with Luka Doncic, and there is no guarantee that will happen. Hopefully, he is able to change the various narratives surrounding his name. Let us know what you think of Mayor Adams’ remarks, in the comments down below.

Jordan Coleman, Son Of Eric Adams, Discusses Rap Career Ahead Of New Single

Jordan Coleman, son of New York Mayor Eric Adams, will be releasing a new single, later this month under his rap moniker, “Jayoo.” Coleman discussed his music career and the song, titled “Go Get It,” with the New York Post.

“I want to be a rapper, I want to be an international filmmaker, I want to be an artist. I’m trying to figure a way to merge them together in a creative and smart way,’ he told the outlet.

Coleman also addressed his parents’ views on rap music. Adams has previously criticized the drill scene in New York, calling for a ban on the genre from social media. At the time, Coleman publicly disagreed with his father.

“Of course, parents look at rap a little differently than how a kid would look at it,” Coleman admitted. “Music and hip-hop has always been a part of what I wanted to do. But when I went off to school, my parents were like, ‘We’re not sending you to school to be a rapper, we’re sending you to school to be a filmmaker.’”

Eric Adams spoke about his son’s aspirations in a statement to The Post.

“When he was a child, my job as his father was to give him instructions, educate him, and prepare him for the future,” Adams said. “He is now a man and being that man means not speaking in my voice but finding his own. Jordan is drawing on the lessons he’s learned and is making the best decisions for himself. I’m extremely proud of the person he’s grown up to be.”

Coleman previously worked under Jay-Z at Roc Nation. He also traveled to Albania for a competition similar to American Idol in November.

NYC Mayor Expands Police Power to Arrest and Commit “Undesirable” Mentally Ill New Yorkers, Now Faces Lawsuit

NYC Mayor Eric Adams

A legal challenge has been filed against New York City Mayor Eric Adams’ plan to increase NYC’s power to take New Yorkers with mental illness into custody and have them psychiatrically examined and possibly committed.

The challenge has been brought as part of an existing class action lawsuit in Manhattan federal court. The plaintiffs seek to halt Adams’ directive, claiming that it unlawfully broadens the definition of who can be taken into custody and committed by the police and violates various laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act.

On November 29, Adams announced that he had ordered several city agencies, including the NYPD and MTA Police, to update their policies and begin training to start “removing” people who appear mentally ill and are unable to meet basic needs, even if they do not appear dangerous.

The plan centers in large part around Adams’ interpretation of New York’s mental hygiene law, which allows police to take someone into custody for a psychiatric evaluation if they “appear” mentally ill and are acting in a manner likely to result in harm to themselves or others.

Adams’ current initiative would allow the police to arrest individuals and force them into a psychiatric evaluation merely because they show an “inability to meet basic needs.” This interpretation of the law assumes that a person’s inability to meet their basic needs will likely result in “serious harm” to themselves. For example, a failure to dress appropriately for the weather could fall under the Mayor’s interpretation, which could easily result from extreme poverty and lack of access to resources rather than an indicator of mental illness.

Adams claims it is a “persistent myth” that the law requires an imminent risk of harm to take a person into custody. However, the law requires “threats of self harm” and other conduct demonstrating that the person is dangerous to himself or others. It does not define irresponsibility or lack of access as conditions that allow the arrest and possible committal.

Adams’ directive has been criticized because it is intended to make a politically opportunistic show of force in ridding the streets and subways of “undesirables.” It is very likely to meet with additional legal challenges. Still, it will do little to improve situations for mentally ill New Yorkers and is expected to be abused and carried out ineffectively and unfairly. Adams has not done anything to address this criticism, instead insisting that his directive be carried out immediately without putting proper training and procedures in place.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams saluted Brooklyn icon The Notorious B.I.G. at City Hall this past Thursday ahead of what would have been Biggie’s 50th birthday.

“Biggie Smalls is truly an icon. All of the elected officials, from the top executive in New York City, the public advocate and our attorney general, all grew up on Biggie Smalls,” Adams said.

According to NY1, Adams also highlighted the way Biggie navigated to stardom with the assistance of his mother, Voletta Wallace.

“He was raised by a single mom,” Adams said. “That’s why so many of us could relate to it. Just the love his mother showed. But what he did, that I believe was so much more significant, is that he was able to turn pain into purpose. He used his music to define what was happening in everyday life.”

Yesterday, the Empire State Building held a ceremony with Bad Boy Records, Atlantic, and Rhino Records to light the building red and blue with a crown spinning on top.
