The West Coast hip-hop sound has remained a high-demand sound within the genre since its debut. This week, a billboard released a fresh named “100 Greatest West Coast Hip Hop Songs.” Critically, the list has received mixed reviews including from Bay Area Pioneer, E-40. On Wednesday, he took to Twitter to express his disappointment in his song “Tell Me When To Go” missed the massive list. “Hey Rolling Stone, appreciate you guys for including ‘Captain Save a Hoe’ at No. 18 of your 100 Greatest West Coast Hip-Hop Songs of All Time,” he said. “But there’s no excuse for ‘Tell Me When To Go’ being completely left off the list #Timeless,” he added.

E-40’s “Tell Me When to Go” was a single from his 2006 album My Ghetto Report Card. The song’s success brought it to Number 35 on the Billboard Hot 100. It is also certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America. Additionally, his 1993 single “Captain Save A Ho” became his breakout single. This song only reached Number 93 on the Billboard Hot 100. With the higher success of “Tell Me When To Go,” he was within the “greatest” conversation in Hip Hop. In January, Billboard listed him as number 43 on their “Top 50 Greatest Rappers Of All Time list.” “Still feel underrated nationally but nobody can deny my longevity, independent hustle, my unorthodox style, and creative slang in this rap game!!,” he said.

Moreover, E-40’s everyday festivities were interrupted while attending a basketball game. In April, the rapper was ejected from a Golden State Warriors game versus the Sacramento Kings. E-40, a multi-platinum artist, debuted “Front Row 40,” a new song and a music video to accompany it. The song arrived just ahead of E-40 sitting courtside for Game 3 of the Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings series.

In the recently released song, E-40 refers to himself as “Floor Seats Earl” as a tribute to his birth name Earl Stevens and brags about having front-row seats at games for the San Francisco 49ers, San Francisco Giants, and Golden State Warriors. He raps about his well-chosen attire and compares himself to ardent New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers supporters Jack Nicholson and Spike Lee.

E-40 and his wife take over the Chase Center, the Golden State Warriors’ home arena, in the Jae Synth-directed video as they sit courtside. A montage of clips showing E-40 conversing with JAY-Z, Diddy, Snoop Dogg, Steph Curry, Draymond Green, Too $hort, 2Chainz, and others at various Warriors games throughout the years is also incorporated into the video.

E-40 Dropped A New Song And Video About Sitting In The ‘Front Row’ After Getting Ejected From The Warriors And Kings Game

The Sacramento Kings are up 2-0 on the Golden State Warriors in the first round of the 2023 NBA Playoffs, but the Kings took an L when E-40 was controversially ejected from Game 1 at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento on Saturday, April 15.

The following day, E-40 released a statement explaining that he felt he “was subjected to disrespectful heckling” and was met with “racial bias” when Golden 1 Center security “assumed that I instigated the encounter and proceeded to kick me out of the arena” (as reported by Shams Charania):

E-40 issued another statement, this time alongside the Kings, on Wednesday, April 19, and it was determined “that there was a miscommunication regarding the circumstances” and clarified that E-40 “did not stand excessively from his ticketed courtside seat.” Here it is in full:

But today, April 20, E-40 had the final word. He dropped “Front Row 40” along with a video directed by Jae Synth. The visual finds E-40 reclaiming his rightful place courtside. “Front Row 40, four-seat Earl / Feet on the wood, me and my girl,” the Bay Area icon raps as footage cycles through of E-40’s past front-row adventures.

E-40 boasts about people saying “they watch the games just to see what I’m gonna wear” and “text me and say they see me on the Jumbotron.” Of course, the video wouldn’t be complete without a clip of Steph Curry dapping up E-40.

It’s likely that E-40 will be in attendance to root on his Dubs in Game 3 at Chase Center in San Francisco, California, but it sounds like 50 Cent might be a game-time decision. The Warriors will need all the juice they can get from their home crowd; they’ll be without Draymond Green, who was suspended for tonight’s Game 3 after stomping on Domantas Sabonis in Game 2. E-40, who is a prominent Warriors fan, claims that his ejection was due to “racial bias”. According to E-40, he was subjected to consistent heckling from a white fan but security only intervened when he responded. He claimed that the security at the Golden 1 Center viewed him as the instigator. The incident occurred partway through the fourth quarter.

E-40’s account was met with a wave of support, including a vocal call for an apology by Jalen Rose. E-40’s claims of racial bias stemmed from the fact that his white friend was not ejected with him. The Kings responded by opening an investigation into the incident. Now, it appears as though things have been resolved as the two parties released a joint statement.

E-40’s addressing of the heckling behind him had been characterized as “excessive standing” but these claims were addressed as the statement continued. “Contrary to speculation, Mr. Earl “E-40″ Stevens did not stand excessively from his ticketed courtside seat; the outcome resulted from an unfortunate misunderstanding between two parties.” This claim was undercut by ESPN sources claiming E-40 was not warned about his conduct prior to being removed.

The statement concluded by reaffirming the King’s commitment to the league’s “Fan Code of Conduct” and stating the team is “looking forward to welcoming him back to our arena in the future.” E-40 is a staple of Bay Area basketball, well-known for having seats close to the Warriors bench. E-40 did not attend Game 2 in Sacramento, which was another Kings win. However, his spokesperson informed ESPN that he would be in attendance at the Chase Center-hosted Game 3. Throughout the first two games of the NBA Playoffs series between the Sacramento Kings and Golden State Warriors, the Kings’ beverage partner 50 Cent has been a fixture at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento.

However, it sounds like he might be rethinking making the trip 370 miles northwest to the Warriors’ Chase Center for the next few games after one of his rap peers, E-40, was given the boot from Game 1 after a contentious exchange with another fan in the expensive seats. 50 joked about the Warriors exacting vengeance for their unofficial rap mascot on Instagram.

“I was thinking about jumping on this jet to the Bay Area for game 3 but the KINGS kicked E40 out,” he wrote. “They might want to kick 50 out the Chase center. LOL.”

The Dubs have reason to be a little salty after the first two games of the series, which Sacramento now leads 2-0 after defeating the Warriors 114-106 on Monday night. To add insult to injury, the cornerstone of Golden State’s defense, Draymond Green, was suspended one game after stepping on the chest of Kings forward Domantas Sabonis — an incident 50 had thoughts about as well.

In Game 1, Warriors superfan and legendary rapper E-40 was kicked out of the arena by Kings security. This then led to accusations of racial bias against the Sacramento organization. Consequently, there has been a lot of talk about the security practices at these games Now, 50 Cent is taking notice, and is taking it all in consideration.

LOL,” 50 Cent said. However, it should be noted that the Chase Center seems to be a lot more tolerant of opposing fans. Regardless, it is easy to see why Fif feels this way.

Besides, this series might be over already. Draymond Green was recently suspended for his stomp on Domantas Sabonis. E-40 traveled alongside his beloved Golden State Warriors to their round one, game one, matchup with the Sacramento Kings on Saturday night. During the game, he was tossed after a confrontation with a female fan. E-40 now says the moment was a result of “racial bias.”

In a statement to Billboard, E-40 says he was disrespected during some heckling.

“On Saturday night, I was subjected to disrespectful heckling over the course of the Warriors-Kings game in Sacramento,” E-40 wrote. “During the fourth quarter, I finally turned around and addressed one heckler in an assertive but polite manner. “Unfortunately, it was yet another reminder that — despite my success and accolades as a musician and entrepreneur — racial bias remains prevalent. Security saw a disagreement between a Black man and a white woman and immediately assumed that I was at fault.”

40 added, “I’m truly grateful for my fans and supporters who have reached out to express their concern and disappointment regarding these disheartening circumstances and I hope those involved are held accountable for their behavior.”

It was a raucous atmosphere, as expected, with Kings fans packing the arena well before tipoff, celebrating their first playoff trip in nearly two decades. It was a hostile environment for the Warriors, which they’re accustomed to in the postseason, but also for some of their high-profile fans. E-40 was among those who made the trip up the road to Sacramento for the game to cheer on the Warriors, but after an altercation with a fan, he was kicked out of his courtside seat.

On Sunday morning, E-40 issued a statement insisting he was not in the wrong and calling out “racial bias” from the security at the Kings arena for deciding that he was in the wrong in the incident with a white woman.
