Lil Durk Addresses The ‘Opportunist’ In His Circle, With The Help Of His Late Brother, On A New ‘Deep Thoughts’ Single

Lil Durk fans waiting for the Love Songs 4 The Streets 3 project are going to have to wait a while long: The “Monitoring Me” rapper is releasing a whole new album, Deep Thoughts, instead.

To celebrate Deep Thoughts‘ upcoming release, today (October 18), Lil Durk shared a new strikingly personal single, “Opportunist.”

On the DJ Bandz- and Magic-produced record, Durk addresses a supposed opportunist in his inner circle with the help of his late brother DThang. Within the record, Durk incorporates an audio file of DThang discussing his generosity and how others have attempted to exploit it.

“Check this out, I want everybody on this planet right here,” he said. “For real, for real, if you get somethin’ from me, if you get motherf*cker. Listen, I’ll send the guys money ’cause I want to. I motherf*ckin’ give the guys money ’cause I want to. So if you ask me to do somethin’ for you and I do it. Please don’t think it’s a finesse, don’t think you finessin’ DThang, please don’t.”

Later in the song, Durk briefly touched on his very public beefs that eventually took the life of longtime friend and fellow rapper King Von. “When they die, you try to claim ’em to get a name, that sh*t be hot / The last time this war was this big was B.I.G. and Pac / Flowin’ all these drugs through my system, I missed ’em / Postin’ all his lo’s on his finsta, I missed ’em / I don’t take back nothin’ when I say it, when I dissed him / Even though he dead, I read our thread ’cause I miss him,” he rapped.

BX Drill Rapper DThang Pays Homage To 50 Cent On “Many Opps”

Untitled

With his tireless intensity and ominous bars, the Bronx’s DThang continues to leave a lasting impression in his city’s prolific drill rap scene. Never leaving room for dead air on a track and in his rising profile, DThang shares “Many Opps.”

“Many Opps” finds DThang rapping across a haunting piano-led instrumental with ease. His voice is delicate, but his take-no-prisoners bars pack a punch as audibly trolling his opps for not being able to keep up with him and his crew: “I don’t know why these n****s be playing with us/I think all my opps smoking angel dust (Like, like what?)/I ain’t going nowhere without gang and em.” As he taunts his haters with the same energy as one of 50 Cent’s petty Instagram posts, DThang pays his respects to the Queens OG, as he and his crew are always working to “get rich or die trying.”

The new single continues DThang’s string of loose singles, following the March re-release of “Lose It (Freestyle)” and “Drill Cappers.” Following his exoneration earlier this year, DThang has yet to let up when it comes to dropping new music. In fact, the rapper kept his stride even while incarcerated, releasing the enthralling, Annie-inspired “Hard Day’s Night / Last Day In” freestyle, garnering over 4.2 million YouTube views to date. Upon his release from jail, French Montana took him under his wing as a mentee, gifting him some new ice and a shopping spree. On Valentine’s Day, DThang dropped “Smoochie Valentine,” a Nelly-inspired cut for the baddies. Featuring a cameo by Nelly, “Smoochie Valentine” reached the Top 20 on YouTube’s Trending Chart for Music.

With more new music on the way, DThang is positioning himself to become one of the notable stars to emerge from the ever-growing drill scene.

Dthang Gz Flips “Annie” Musical On New Single “Last Day In”

New York drill music remains to be a key player in the state that saw the birth of hip-hop. There are a lot of new faces in the mix. One of those newbies is Dthang. He also goes by Dthang Gz and this is just his second time on the HNHH website. The last time we spoke about him was when French Montana grabbed him and T DOT for “I Got A Feeling.”

That song sampled and flipped the Black Eyed Peas’ biggest hit of the same name. Interestingly, Dthang is doing the same thing on his latest single. “Last Day In” does not share the name of another popular song. In this case, it comes down to the familiar vocals weaving in and out of the track.

Listen To “Last Day In” By Dthang Gz

Yes, your ears do not deceive you. Those are the little girls singing “Hard Knock Life” from the musical classic Annie. Dthang uses those background vocals to help describe his life at the moment. The 21-year-old rapper was supposed to serve three to five years after a massive indictment against the River Park Towers gang for numerous shootings that took place. Dthang, along with a host of other rappers were hit with charges of conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder, attempted assault, animal cruelty, and criminal possession of a weapon, according to HipHopDX. Dthang’s arrest was in 2022, so he was fortunate and looks to improve based on the lyrics of “Last Day In.”

Bronx Rapper DThang Gz Among 33 Arrested On Attempted Murder Charges

The police have arrested upcoming drill rapper DThang Gz over a 60-plus indictment that includes attempts to kill and criminal possession of a weapon. DThang was incarcerated shortly after a turf war in which he allegedly shot at rival gang members.

DThang Taken Into Custody

Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark, alongside NYPD Commissioner Keechant Sewell, announced that DThang, the co-founder of the hip-hop collective Bronx Drill, was incarcerated on May 24. This comes just 6 days after the New York Senate passed the “Rap Lyrics on Trial Bill”. The bill, also called Senate Bill S7527, prohibits the use of song lyrics as evidence in criminal trials.

According to an ABC 7 report, Clark stated DThang, real name Daniel Collins, and the River Park Towers (RPT) gang “allegedly fired wildly on the streets without regard for the lives of anyone else. They allegedly possessed a gun used in shootings that they posed with on social media and rapped about the violence.”

One indictment alleged that seven members fired over 10 gunshots inside a building vestibule in August 2020. In April 2021, RPT members attempted to assault a member of the Crips gang on Rikers Island.

Drilling Pigeon For Clout

One of the indictments is animal cruelty, a reference to an Instagram Live where RPT members brutally murder a pigeon. A member can be heard saying “we going down for animal cruelty” as others struck the bird with a cane. Its lifeless body is then filmed in gory detail with DThang behind the camera.

Future Of Bronx Drill

Meanwhile, in the wake of the indictments and incarceration, many stans have taken to the comments section of their music videos and social media to post “Free Dthang” and “Free RPT”. But the future of the suspects is not optimistic as the charges carry heavy jail sentences if proven.

Lil Durk’s Brother DThang Was Reportedly Shot And Killed Outside A Illinois Club

Lil Durk has dealt with the loss of close friends at several instances in his career and unfortunately, the rapper will now have to deal with the death of another one. According to Chicago’s WGCI, Durk’s brother, DThang, was reportedly shot and killed on Saturday night. The reports say that DThang, born Dontay Banks Jr., was shot in the head outside of Club O, a strip club in Harvey, Illinois, a city south of his hometown of Chicago. HipHopDX adds that witnesses at the scene said DThang suffered a gunshot wound to the head which killed him instantly upon impact.

The passing of DThang comes eight months after King Von, who Durk affectionately referred to as “twin,” was shot and killed outside a nightclub in Atlanta. Von’s death shocked the hip-hop world as the fellow Chicago rapper was quickly rising to become one of the game’s brightest young stars. Durk would honor the late rapper in a number of ways. One example came on the album cover for his late 2020 album The Voice which featured a picture of him and Von together.

DThang’s death occurred during what was supposed to be a celebratory weekend for Durk. The rapper and Lil Baby are just days removed from sharing their highly-anticipated joint album, Voice Of The Heroes, which presented features from Travis Scott, Young Thug, Meek Mill, and Rod Wave.
