N.O.R.E Claims Chris Rock Wants To Do His First Post-Slap Interview With Him

It’s been a long, long time since we got anything quite as dominant and conversation-striking in pop culture as the Oscars slap. If you lived under a rock for it, Will Smith slapped host Chris Rock onstage after the latter made a joke about the former’s wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith. It inspired a lot of debate over whether it was justified that continues to this day, despite it being over a year old. Moreover, you might’ve expected both to talk about it at length, and while they have through other means, Rock’s never done an interview about it. Now, though, it seems like he’s already thinking about it, according to rapper and Drink Champs co-host N.O.R.E.

“Chris Rock gave me one of the greatest compliments at Nas’ birthday party!” N.O.R.E. tweeted early Thursday (September 21). “He said ‘I’m not ready to talk; but when I am; I’m not going to Oprah, I’m coming to see you N****. @DrinkChamps [handshake emoji] [goat emoji].” Of course, having the comedian on Drink Champs would make for a huge moment. What we’ll have to see is when he’ll be ready for a full conversation about it.

Chris Rock & N.O.R.E. Might Have A Drink Champs Cooking

However, that’s not to say that Chris Rock needs to fully address the situation if he doesn’t want to. After all, via his stand-up special, brief statements, and a whole lot of hearsay from other parties, we already know more or less how he feels about it. Still, N.O.R.E.’s more laidback and conversational style will probably make for a fitting look back on this incident and how it’s affected him since then. Sure, Drink Champs has had its hiccups with guests, but they’re very few and far between when compared to a lot of other media.

Meanwhile, this is not the only recent podcast appearance that the MC has in mind when it comes to his guest plans. Noreaga also responded to Kid Cudi’s request that he wants to join the show one day soon to talk about upcoming music, his career, his plans, and more. No matter who he and DJ EFN pull on, we’re sure it’ll make for quite the romp, and in this slap case, a pretty comprehensive reflection. On that note, check back in with HNHH for the latest news and updates on N.O.R.E. and Chris Rock.

I ain’t gon’ say no names, but all the bosses. All of them said, you know Bleek are you buggin’, you gotta hit Jay.” Bleek is famously one of Jay-Z’s protégés, so if anybody was going to be able to get tickets out of him it’s probably Bleek. “So I’m like alright, I tried not to, but now I gotta hit you. I tried to go around but now this message gotta go to you.” Eventually, he did get his hands on some tickets and shared a picture of him and Jay together at the show to Twitter. Big Daddy Kane Dubs J. Cole His “Favorite Emcee Of This Era”

Big Daddy Kane shared his profound appreciation for J. Cole, dubbing him as his “favorite emcee of this era.” The iconic rapper sat down for an interview with Drink Champs. He dove into a discussion about the current state of rap. During the conversation, he mentioned how there’s an ongoing discourse about the fact that lyricism is lacking in contemporary hip-hop. Big Daddy Kane firmly disagreed with this notion. He asserted that there’s plenty of lyrical artists in today’s age of rap. “There are a lot of lyrical emcees; you just have to find them,’ he said. “But at this point in time what’s more important really is a catchy tune.”

Kane elaborated his viewpoint by highlighting that many of today’s lyrical artists shy away from “commercial production.” “That’s not what’s really selling or what’s playing on the radio,” he continued. “But you do have lyrical emcees that rhyme over that modern style production. Like J Cole.” In a heartfelt statement, Big Daddy Kane hailed Cole as his “favorite emcee of this era,” championing the distinctiveness of Cole’s music.

Why Big Daddy Kane Thinks J. Cole Stands Out

Although Kane gave a nod to Griselda’s talented rappers, Conway the Machine and Benny The Butcher, he stood on the fact that Cole possesses a unique quality that sets him apart. One thing’s for certain; Kane has never concealed his admiration for Cole. In fact, he’s often hailed him as his modern-day “hero” among the current crop of lyricists. However, Kane’s admiration for Cole transcends mere album cuts and chart-topping singles; he also said that he closely follows his freestyles.

When the conversation turned to acknowledge Kendrick Lamar as being a top lyricist as well, Big Daddy Kane couldn’t help but quote a memorable bar from Cole’s 2021 freestyle on Power 106’s L.A. Leakers Radio. “I love Kendrick, but you got to understand, Cole said: ‘No Cosby s**t but if they sleepin’ on me, f**k ’em.’” This dialogue not only underscores Big Daddy Kane’s profound respect for J. Cole, but also highlights his belief in lyricism in the ever-evolving landscape of hip-hop.

Big Daddy Kane Talks Hip Hop 50, Going Commercial, And More On “Drink Champs”

Big Daddy Kane recently appeared on the Drink Champs podcast, where he discussed Hip Hip 50, the importance of celebrating pioneers of the genre, going commercial, and more. The performer also shared his take on the origin of hip hop, claiming that it doesn’t have just one.

“Me as a student of hip hop, one thing I’ve always understood is that hip hop music has no origin,” he explains. “Grandmaster Caz said it best,” he continues, “hip hop didn’t invent anything, it reinvented everything.” Big Daddy Kane then went on to describe how hip hop is a conglomeration of various genres, pulling elements from jazz, rock, soul, and more. “That’s all I was doing, was incorporating elements that already been a part of hip hop,” he explains.

Big Daddy Kane On “Drink Champs”

Big Daddy Kane then went on to discuss taking an experimental route to his beats early on, sharing why he chose to go a more commercial route with his sound. “I wanted to explore different things and try to open the mind frame of my fanbase, you know, to see a bigger picture,” he explained. “That’s what I was really trying to do. I just was a little too early with it.” He also adds that if he had waited a few years and done it through Bad Boy Records, he would have been a “bad motherf*cker.”

“I honestly don’t see what the problem is,” he says of going the commercial route. “I don’t have a problem with Hammer music, I didn’t have a problem with Fresh Prince music, because it was hip hop from a commercial standpoint. Everything don’t need to be thugged out.” Big Daddy Kane also describes feeling like there’s room for everyone to take whichever route they choose, regardless of backlash. He says that as long as artists are being themselves and speaking their own truth, nobody can hate on them. Leave your thoughts in the comments section, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates on Big Daddy Kane.

Memphis Bleek Reveals Jay-Z Warned Him About The Downfall Of Roc-A-Fella

During an upcoming episode of the Drink Champs podcast, Memphis Bleek opened up about the downfall of Roc-A-Fella Records. In a clip from the forthcoming interview, the rapper reveals that Jay-Z had warned him that the label wouldn’t be around for much longer. When he tried to let others know, however, he claims nobody would listen to him.

“I told n***as, ‘Listen, y’all bugging! This sh*t ’bout to be over!” he explains. “Y’all wanna separate it? Okay! I’m tryna keep this sh*t together, baby! Like, the big homie over here telling me, ‘The scissors, they coming.’ It’s like, nobody wanted to listen.” He continued, explaining how now that it’s too late, people have started to listen. “Now, it’s over and everybody listening, get the f*ck outta here!”

Memphis Bleek Says “Nobody Wanted To Listen”

Though Roc-A-Fella is no more, Memphis Bleek recently discussed the potential of an upcoming collaborative album with the founder. During an interview with TMZ, he revealed that he’s tried to get Jay-Z onboard with the idea in the past. When asked about it, he told the outlet, “I’m on that boat too. I wish!” As for whether or not he thinks it could actually happen, he unfortunately said, “I don’t think so.

Hov too far gone, man!” he continued. “I was supposed to try this when he had $100 million, not a billion. When you got a billion, it’s hard to get you in the booth. Only his wife can do it.” The rapper hasn’t lost all hope for a potential collab, however. “Hold it ’cause I’m trying,” he said. “I still send him joints, I get shot down like a clay pigeon,” he explained. “But something gon’ stick one day, ya know? But if we could drop an EP together, that would be — c’mon, that would close off the whole trilogy of the ‘Coming of Age’ story. [Fans] need something classic.” Keep an eye on HNHH for more updates on Memphis Bleek and Jay-Z.

Warren G Claims He Helped Snoop Dogg Avoid 2Pac Shooting

Warren G recently got candid during his new interview with Drink Champs. The rapper discussed a plethora of things, including how he saved Snoop Dogg. Warren G claims that Snoop had plans to join 2Pac in Vegas right before his fatal shooting in 1996. However, thanks to him, he was able to avoid it. “The cold sh*t about it is, I had called Snoop,” he began. “At that time, I was single … I had a house to myself. I was like, ‘Shi*t, I’m a bachelor. What’s up, Snoop? Come over! I’m here watching the fight, I’ma invite a gang of people over, we gonna barbecue.’”

The rapper continued: “He was like, ‘Fuck that sh*t, I’m going to Vegas with 2Pac and them for the fight.’ So I was like, ‘Damn, n*gga! You don’t never kick it with me, sh*t.’” He added, “So a couple of hours went by, I’m in the house, getting everything ready. I heard a horn honking in front of my house.” Warren G said the two had a great time riding around in Snoop’s whip.

“He Pulled Up [And] He Surprised Me,” Warren G Says

However, their fun moment wouldn’t last. After news broke about the shooting, the two immediately rushed to Vegas to check on their Death Row labelmate. “We could hear the sh*t, and then he started getting calls and they was telling him that 2Pac got shot. So I kicked everybody out and [Snoop] took off — that’s when he went to Vegas to go see what was going on and go to the hospital,” he said. He continued: “If I wouldn’t have talked to him and got him to come over to my house, he probably would’ve been right there in the car with them and got shot as well.”

Last May, Snoop Dogg also opened up about the aftermath of 2Pac’s death and its impact on him. The West Coast OG claims he nearly fainted when he saw him in the hospital. “He got tubes in him and it’s like, when I walked in, I could just feel like he wasn’t even there, and I fainted,” he shared. “Then, his [mother Afeni Shakur] got me up and walked me in the bathroom and had a conversation with me about being strong,” he told Jake Paul on his Impaulsive podcast.

Warren G Recalls Running From Suge Knight On “Drink Champs”

Warren G recently appeared on an episode of the Drink Champs podcast, sharing some notable stories from throughout his career. He talked saving Def Jam, working alongside Snoop and Nate Dogg, and more. The West Coast legend even opened up about an incident with Suge Knight, telling a tale about how a studio session once nearly ended in gunfire.

The artist begins his story by noting how he had previously thought Knight was “a cool n***a.” He describes going into the studio one day, “thinking the sh*t is all good.” From there, he says that people kept telling him that Knight had to talk to him, which he was brushing off to catch up with his friends. Eventually, Suge himself came out to let him know that the situation couldn’t wait. He recalls being pulled into a room with him, and things quickly took a left turn. Unfortunately, someone he had thought he was on good terms with wanted to confront him about some rumors he had heard.

Warren G’s Conversation On Drink Champs

He says he was confused about the confrontation, since he had been friends with the guy for a while. Warren G then recalls his chain being “snatched” from his neck, and notes that he had a gun on him at the time. “I could have pulled that motherf*cker out and started bussin,’” he explains. Ultimately, he decided not to. He says he knew there was “no winning situation,” if he had, as there were countless people on his escape route that would have shot him, too. Warren G then says a friend of his walked in at that point, and he took the opportunity to “ease out that motherf*cker.”

Warren G then claims that as he made his way away from the room, Suge Knight came after him. “Get that n***a!” he recalls him shouting to those around. He says after he heard that, he “took off” running. Luckily, he was able to get away in time and drive off in his truck. He claims that Snoop Dogg had told him to come and get his chain back eventually, but he refused. Keep an eye on HNHH for more updates on Warren G.

Warren G On His Missed Opportunity To Deescalate 2Pac And Biggie’s Feud

During his upcoming appearance on the Drink Champs podcast, Warren G discussed the famous beef between 2Pac and Biggie Smalls. According to him, he may have also had an opportunity to diffuse the tension. He claims that if had been able to talk about the situation with 2Pac, it’s possible things wouldn’t have escalated the way they did.

“I pulled up, Biggie was right there we was chopping it up about everything,” he began. “Music — with him and 2Pac, them having beef and sh*t. He was just like, ‘He tripping on me.’ He was telling me everything. The artist continued, explaining how he offered to talk to 2Pac for him.

Warren G “Couldn’t Get To” 2Pac

“So I said, ‘How about this, this what I’ll do,’” he then explains. “When I get at ‘Pac, I’ll say I talked to this n***a Biggie, and this what he said. You n***as get this sh*t together and stop that sh*t.’” Unfortunately, however, Warren G never got the chance to. The late performer was surrounded by his crew all the time, making it impossible for him to intervene. “I couldn’t get to [2Pac] because it was all the other muthaf*ckas that was around,” Warren G says. “To really talk to him about what [Biggie] said. I was tryna get the message to him.

At the very least, he says the feud could have been taken down a notch if he had spoken to 2Pac. “It probably wouldn’t have been as bad,” he says. “Well, I would’ve pulled [2Pac] to the side and really talked to him. Like, ‘Look, this what this n***a told me.’” Obviously, it’s too late now to know whether or not his intervention could have made any real difference. With that being said, many commenters disagree with his take, claiming that there’s nothing that he could have done. Keep an eye on HNHH for more updates on Warren G, Biggie, and 2Pac.

Irv Gotti says that he once scared Nas by suggesting they ride through a hood in Baltimore and flaunt their wealth. He recalled the moment during his recent appearance on Drink Champs.

“When Nas was in the Crack House [the studio] — and this was when I’m high as fuck [on ecstasy], grinding my teeth — I’m telling Nas, ‘We gon’ get three tour buses. We gon’ grab you, Ja, Ashanti. We gon’ hitch a Rolls-Royce, a Ferrari, a Bentley to the back of the tour bus,’” Gotti remembered. “This is when he was like, ‘Okay, I’m not fucking with these n****s.’”
