Kanye West & Ty Dolla Sign Are Reportedly Looking At Distributors For Their Forthcoming Collaborative Album

Ye, formally known as Kanye West, has returned to X (formerly Twitter), but that’s not all he’s doing. According to Billboard, West has teamed up with “By Yourself” singer Ty Dolla Sign for a collaborative full-length project. The only thing standing in the album’s way is a problem with distribution.

Billboard reports West and Ty are looking for a new distributor deal for the forthcoming release. Billboard alleges that the musicians are fielding upwards of five offers from companies at the present moment and are leaning towards one favorable option. Initially, the entertainers’ goal was to share the collaboration with the public this past Friday, October 13. However, a deal wasn’t reached. So, they’ve moved the release date. They hope to drop the album before the year ends.

West and Ty have come together on numerous occasions in the past, including on the 2021 song “Junya Pt 2,” 2019’s “Everything We Need,” 2016’s “Real Friends” and 2014’s “Only One.” Before that, they worked together on Ty Dolla $ ign’s “Ego Death” (2020) and on West’s “Everything We Need” (2019), “Real Friends.”

West’s last full-length project, Donda 2, was exclusively released on his Donda Stem Player, developed in partnership with Kano Computing.

Ty Dolla Sign is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Jack Harlow Delivers Shocking NSFW Lil Nas X Bars In New Kanye West Leak

Jack Harlow is someone who has gone through the full range of support when it comes to fans on social media. One day, fans are saying Harlow might be one of the best in the game. However, the next day, some are saying he “fell off” and that he is “on the clock.” Overall, Harlow has done a good job of avoiding these criticisms. He doesn’t engage with any of it, and he does his own thing. Whether that be acting in movies or just taking a break from social media, Harlow knows how to deal with fame and its pitfalls.

Now, however, Harlow is going to have to work overtime to avoid the latest trending topic involving his name. Recently, an extended version of a Donda 2 track called “Louie Bags” ended up leaking online. Of course, Donda 2 is an album that has been quite elusive. There are some people who own the album through the Stem player. That said, it is well-known that the album is very much, unfinished. There are better versions of each song on a hard drive somewhere, and some of these versions are making their way onto the internet.

Jack Harlow With Some Peculiar Lyrics

As reported by DJ Akademiks, the song features an extended verse from Harlow in which he delivers NSFW bars about one of his best friends in rap. That man would be Lil Nas X. Harlow was on the artist’s song “Industry Baby” which ironically enough, featured some production from Kanye West. On this “Louie Bags” verse, Harlow raps “I bet Lil Nas X will f*ck me if I let him.” These lyrics are now going extra viral, and it is very easy to see why that would be the case. In the comments to the post above, many were confused as to why Harlow would even say this.

In between album rollouts, Lil Nas X usually just stays off of social media. Having said that, it should come as no surprise that he has yet to respond to these lyrics. Whether or not he will, still remains to be seen. Let us know what you think of these lyrics, in the comments section below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for more news and updates from around the music world. We will always keep you informed.

Kanye West & Future’s “Maintenance” From “Donda 2” Leaks Online

It’s been over a year since Kanye West’s Donda 2 arrived on the STEM Player. Still, we haven’t seen any indications that it’ll make its way to streaming platforms. The project remains Ye’s most inaccessible body of work. Although, much of the project can be found on platforms like YouTube and Soundcloud. Moreover, there have been a number of leaks from the Donda 2 sessions that have surfaced online in different forms. Some of these records were completed while others weren’t.

A song titled “Maintenance” arrived in various forms in the last few months. However, this morning, a new version of the record featuring Future surfaced on reddit. Leakers have dubbed this a “finished version” of the song, which finds Ye and Future offering to fund a young lady’s expensive lifestyle. A previous version of the song leaked in February, although that was a 10-second snippet. It remains unclear if this song will see the light of day officially.

At this stage, it seems unclear if Kanye West will unload a new project any time soon. The past few months of his career have largely been clouded by controversy. This led companies like Adidas, Gap, and Kano Technology, the company behind the Stem Player, to sever ties. However, there have been promising signs that he might have a few records coming out soon. Fivio Foreign previewed a new song with his “City Of Gods” collaborator in April. So, hopefully, that sees the light of day sometime soon.

Otherwise, Kanye appears to be moving forward with the Yeezy brand, with or without a major corporation backing him. Earlier this month, Ye hosted Yeezy Season 10 in L.A.. However, this, too, became a source of controversy. Coming a year after the debut of his “White Lives Matter” t-shirts, Kano Technology called out Ye for allegedly using Nazi imagery for his latest clothing collection. Ye hasn’t responded nor will he likely do so. Still, it seems as though he hasn’t necessarily changed his ways since his anti-Semitic tirade in late 2022. Unfortunately, we can’t share the leak for “Maintenance” here but it’s surfacing on social media right now.

Kanye Previews Updated Version Of “Security”

As we’ve seen in the past with Kanye West projects, they’re never actually done. Projects like Yeezus and The Life Of Pablo have undergone significant changes since their release. It’s a practice that he extended to all of his projects, including Donda 2. The sequel to his 2021 album was solely released via StemPlayer without any indication of an official release. Still, Ye continues to quietly tweak the effort. Most recently, fans discovered a new update to one of the highlights of the album, “Security.”

On Monday night, Ye hosted the YZY FREE event on Melrose with an open invite to the public. Fans flocked to the location to get in on the action when they were treated to a snippet of “Security” with mild updates to the production and mixes. It appears this is the first time it was officially debuted. Many pointed out that a similar version emerged shortly after the album dropped. Mike Dean slid into the comment section of @ourgenerationmusic’s post, writing, “Nothing [new].”

Kanye West Debuts New Version Of “Security”

At this point, it’s unclear what to expect of Kanye West next. 2022 proved to be an incredibly tumultuous year for him following a string of interviews focusing on everything from his beef with Pete Davidson to his praise of Hitler. Ultimately, these incidents led to the end of his partnership with brands like GAP and Adidas. Around the same time, Def Jam quietly confirmed that G.O.O.D. Music was no longer part of their roster. As a result, Kanye West’s net worth dropped significantly from his billionaire status as his partnerships and sponsors distanced themselves from him.

Ultimately, Kanye is still moving forward with Yeezy, despite Adidas decision to back out. Last week, he held auditions for the Yeezy Fashion show (presumably YZY FREE) so it looks like we could expect a new collection soon. However, Adidas continues to face backlash after cutting ties with the artists. Reports emerged claiming that investors filed a lawsuit against the German sportswear brand after they initially refused to end their partnership with Ye, even while allegedly knowing of his anti-Semitic beliefs. We’ll keep you posted on anymore updates regarding Ye.

Ye Says He Never Profited Off Of “Donda 2” Stem Player

Ye currently has a few lawsuits that he’s dealing with, one of them surrounding the exclusive Donda 2 album. If you recall, the project never landed on streaming services. Instead, Ye chose to exclusively make the album available on his Stem player, which launched alongside 2021’s Donda. Though it wasn’t widely accessible, he’s facing a lawsuit surrounding a sample on Donda 2. “Flowers” uses Marshall Jefferson’s “Move Your Body.” However, the publisher, Ultra International Music Publishing (UIMP), said Ye never received permission to use it in the first place.

UIMP claimed Ye acknowledged the unauthorized use of the sample. They said he “continue[d] to willfully infringe in blatant disregard of UIMP’s rights of ownership.” As a result, UIMP believes Ye made significant profits from the use of the sample. However, the project wasn’t available on streaming services. This could be based on a since-deleted post where Ye said he made millions off of the device. “To earn the $2.2 million we made on the first day on the stem player the album would have had to stream 500 million times,” he wrote. “We did more revenue on stem player, without the album even being out, than we would have done with the album being out on streaming.”

Ye Says No Money Was Made From Stem Player

Per All Hip Hop, Ye denied the allegations while his attorney said the Stem Players didn’t make any profits. “[Kanye] specifically denies that he has received any profits from the sale of Stem Players,” his attorney wrote. “Ye admits that there were sales of Stem Players after February 19, 2022, some of which came with Donda 2 preloaded on them. [He] denies that he received any revenue from those sales.”

His attorney also addressed the allegations that he verbally acknowledged the use of “Move Your Body.” “Ye denies that he personally acknowledged in discussions with representatives for Mr. Jefferson and UIMP that ‘Move Your Body’ was sampled in Flowers’ without authorization or payment,” Ye’s lawyer wrote. “Ye further denies that he personally has not ceased distribution of ‘Flowers.’” We’ll see how this pans out for Ye as UIMP seeks $150K in damages for each infringement listed in their lawsuit. We’ll keep you posted.

Denzel Curry Is Disappointed In Drake And Kanye West For Making ‘Subpar Work With The Resources They Have’

Back in mid-May, Denzel Curry stirred the pot by expressing his disappointment in Drake’s Certified Lover Boy and Kanye West’s Donda, tweeting, “Donda and CLB could’ve been better yall n****s rich and got the greatest musicians at your disposal.” Not only is Curry not backing down on that take, but in a new Spin interview, he actually doubled down by going into more detail about what he meant.

Citing Take Care and If You’re Reading This, It’s Too Late as example of the sort of Drake level of quality he hopes for with a new album, Curry said:

“I was looking forward to Drake’s album, ’cause Drake always got something. But then, when you get them albums, you’re like, ‘What the f*ck are you doing?’ […] We don’t even really need to talk about Kanye West, it’s Kanye West. But for them to go out and go against each other and make that subpar work with the resources they have. These are the same producers it’s hard for me to reach out to because they don’t see the return. You’ve got all these resources and y’all made subpar albums. I had limited resources and I made a great one. That shouldn’t happen.”

Kanye West sued over sample on Donda 2 Soundtrack

Kanye West

Kanye West‘s Donda 2 might have set records on its exclusive Stem player release back in February, reportedly netting over $2.2 million in revenue within the first day following its release. However, it may appear that Ye may have to share some of that money with another artist who is accusing him of sampling a track without permission.

Marshall Jefferson, a Chicago-based house artist, is accusing Ye of sampling his 1986 dance hit “Move Your Body” at least 22 times on the track “Flowers” on Donda 2.

On Wednesday, Jefferson’s publisher Ultra International Music Publishing filed a formal complaint in New York’s US District Court. The lawsuit asks for profits and damages to be determined at a trial or maximum statutory damages of $150,000 per infringement.

Jefferson, who had just performed in England over the past weekend, explained to the BBC that his issue was not with Ye’s sampling of the track, but with the fact that Ye did not ask permission or request a license (which would have allowed Jefferson to collect royalties, saying: “I’ve been sampled thousands of times. There is a right way and a wrong way to go about it. Getting done by another artist, a black artist, a fellow Chicagoan without acknowledgment is disappointing.”

“Move Your Body”, which was released by Trax Records in 1986, peaked at No. 34 on Billboard’s Dance Singles Sales chart that same year.

According to the lawsuit, Jefferson’s representatives allege that Ye and his team had discussions where they admitted to sampling “Move Your Body” on the “Flowers” track.

As of Thursday morning, neither Ye nor his team at Universal Music Group, which is also named in the suit, had publicly responded to the lawsuit.

This is not Ye’s first dust-up with copyright infringement law. He was also sued in May by David Paul Moten, a Texas pastor, who alleges that Ye sampled parts of one of his spoken sermons without permission.

Lawsuits regarding samples used on Yeezus tracks “New Slaves” and “Bound 2” were both privately settled out of court.

Kanye West Was Sued Over A Sample Used On ‘Flowers’ From ‘Donda 2’

Back in February, Kanye West released his eleventh album Donda 2 just six months after he dropped Donda which topped the albums chart to be his tenth No. 1 release. Donda 2 was a unique project as Kanye opted to drop it exclusively on his Stem Player website, making it only available to those who purchase the Stem Player device. It was uploaded with 16 songs and features from Future, Migos, Jack Harlow, the late XXTENTACION, Vory, Alicia Keys, Fivio Foreign, Soulja Boy, Sean Leon, Baby Keem, Travis Scott, and Don Toliver. Now, four months later, one of the album’s songs has earned Kanye West a lawsuit.

According to Billboard, a complaint was filed in U.S. District Court in New York on Wednesday that accused Kanye of wrongfully sampling Marshall Jefferson’s 1986 house track “Move Your Body,” aka “The House Music Anthem,” on “Flowers” from Donda 2 without permission or providing compensation. The filing says the sample was used “at least 22 times throughout” the song.

The complaint was filed by attorneys Christine Lepera and Bradley J. Mullins of the firm Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp and brought forth by Jefferson’s publisher Ultra International Music Publishing (UMP). “Defendants’ conduct is willful and deliberate,” the complaint reads. “Defendants know and have been informed that they do not possess a license to utilize the Composition in the Unauthorized Work, and yet continue to willfully infringe in blatant disregard of UIMP’s rights of ownership.”

As a result, UMP is requesting a “preliminary and permanent injunction enjoining and restraining Defendants” and their associates from using the “Move Your Body” sample as well profits and damages in an amount to be determined at trial. Alternatively, they will seek statutory damages of $150,000 per infringement, attorneys’ fees and the full cost of the lawsuit, and prejudgement interest.

Alex Klein, who co-created the Stem Player, was also named in the complaint as was Klein’s company Kano Computing Limited.

Kanye West And XXXTentacion Look To Untangle The Complicated Web Of Romance On ‘True Love’

The past twelve months have been an active period for music with Kanye West. Back in February, the rapper released his eleventh album Donda 2 exclusively on his Stem Player site. The 16-track release, which was later extended to 17, arrived just six months after Kanye shared his chart-topping and Grammy-nominated tenth album Donda. Donda 2 featured appearances from Future, Migos, Jack Harlow, the late XXXTENTACION, Vory, Alicia Keys, Fivio Foreign, Soulja Boy, Sean Leon, Baby Keem, Travis Scott, and Don Toliver. The record with XXXTentacion, “True Love,” which served as the intro track for Donda 2, is now available for streaming thanks to an official release from the respective artists.

“True Love” strikes as quite the personal record as both rappers look to untangle the complicated web of love. “True love shouldn’t be this complicated,” XXXTENTACION sings to open the song. “I thought I’d die in your arms.” Through his verses on the song, Kanye sings about the conclusion of his marriage with Kim Kardashian and how it’s affected his relationship with him and Kim’s four children: North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm.

According to Variety, which sets a press release that announced the song, “True Love” will also appear on XXXTENTACION’s upcoming posthumous album Look At Me: The Album. The song’s official release arrives with the release of XXXTENTACION’s Hulu documentary Look at Me: XXXTentacion which begins streaming tonight on the platform. The film grants a new look into XXXTENTACION’s career including his rise to fame and accusations of assault against him, like that of his then-pregnant girlfriend Geneva Ayala who appears in the film as well as XXXTENTACION’s other ex-girlfriends.

You can listen to “True Love” in the video above.

Kanye West’s Video For ‘Life Of The Party’ Will Premiere In An Ad For Yeezy Gap Engineered By Balenciaga

As 2022 got underway, it appeared that Kanye West would shift his attention to his eleventh album Donda 2. The project eventually arrived in February, but not in the traditional way that we might have expected. He decided that the album would be housed exclusively on his Stem Player website, and to this day, he’s yet to upload the project to streaming services. However, since releasing Donda last summer, Kanye has continued to share content from the album. He dropped a visual for “Hurricane,” the Grammy-winning standout from the album and now he’s announced that a visual for “Life Of The Party” is on the way.

The track, which features Andre 3000 and finds both rappers speaking about their mothers, will have a matching visual for it released later today. With today being Mother’s Day, it’s a perfect day to share the video for the song. The visual will be available to view on all streaming platforms starting at 9:45pm EST later tonight.

A press release for the video’s announcement also revealed that the visual will appear in the first TV commercial for Yeezy Gap Engineered By Balenciaga. New pieces from the collaboration, which has been described as a “creative exploration,” will debut in the commercial. The items will be available for release on May 25 at 9am EST/6pm PST on Yeezy Gap’s website as well as sites for Balenciaga’s online partners: Farfetch, Mytheresa, and Luisa Via Roma.
