Shannon Sharpe has never been one to keep his opinions close to the chest. Shapre’s firey personality has always been of a media personality that wears his heart on his sleeve. One topic that is always going to incite a strong opinion from Sharpe would be LeBron James. Sharpe has long been a supporter of the Los Angeles Lakers star. Including being involved in a dust-up earlier this season with the team, the Lakers are currently playing in the playoffs. The Memphis Grizzlies have been out to prove their successful 2022-23 season isn’t just a one-hit-wonder.

LeBron James Discusses Dillon Brooks Beef: “It’s Literally Easy”

LeBron James discussed his ongoing beef with Dillon Brooks after the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Memphis Grizzlies in Game 3 on Saturday night. In doing so, he remarked that opponents trying to rattle him during a playoff series is nothing new. The remarks come ahead of Game 4 of the series which is scheduled for Sunday night.

Addressing reporters, James commented on a pregame conversation that he had with Brooks. “It wasn’t private because everybody caught it,” James said. “Everybody saw it. There wasn’t anything private about it. It was very, very public. I like it that way. [The Grizzlies] know what they have to do. I know what I have to do. This is not my first rodeo. I had this throughout my career with certain individuals. It’s easy. It’s literally easy.” From there, he checked himself before going further saying, “I don’t want to start this.”

“My resume and what I’ve done for this league speaks for itself,” James continued. “I don’t really get caught up with any comments like that. At the end of the day, my focus is to my teammates and us trying to figure out how to beat the Memphis Grizzlies.” As for what James said specifically, Brooks remarked, “He just told me his birthday.”

During Game 3, Brooks was ejected early in the third quarter for striking James in the groin. Refs handed him a flagrant 2 for the move. He exited the game with seven points on 3-of-13 shooting in 19 minutes. On the other hand, James dropped 15 points on 7-of-12 shooting before Brooks’ ejection. The Lakers now lead 2-1 in the series. Dillon Brooks Won’t Miss Lakers-Grizzlies Game 4

Dillon Brooks continued his beef with LeBron James on Saturday night. The Grizzlies’ forward had previously called LeBron “old” among other remarks after the Grizzlies’ game 2 win. Brooks also said he didn’t respect to LeBron because the Laker hadn’t dropped 40 points on the Grizzlies.

However, the in-game beef only lasted 19 minutes. Just 17 seconds into the second half, Brooks was called for a flagrant 2 on LeBron and ejected. Brooks appeared to hit LeBron in the groin, similar to a foul that saw James Harden ejected from a Sixers game days prior. The Grizzlies eventually lost 111-101. It’s the latest in a line of recent flagrant fouls around the NBA playoffs. Harden’s teammate Joel Embiid was called for a flagrant 1 in the same game. Meanwhile, Draymond Green was called for a flagrant 2 for stomping on Domantas Sabonis.

Brooks Dodges Suspension

According to league officials who spoke to ESPN‘s Adrian Wojnarowski, Brooks will not face suspension following his flagrant 2 ejection. No further reasoning was given for why Brooks was not given further punishment. Brooks has been ejected three times this season, tied for most in the league. He was also ejected for a flagrant 2 during the 2022 NBA Playoffs. Brooks has also missed three games due to suspension this season. Two of those were automatic suspensions triggered by technical foul accumulations. He led the league in technical fouls this season with a total of 18. Brooks earned suspensions after his 16th and 18th technical. However, he was also suspended one game for hitting Donovan Mitchell in the groin. Safe to say, Brooks is not exactly a “clean” player.

The decision has once again raised questions about the NBA’s decision-making, especially in regard to these playoffs. Draymond Green received a one-game suspension for his flagrant 2. While Green stomping on Sabonis was a more impactful incident, the NBA handed down a suspension due to Green’s “dirty player” reputation. Some have asked why the same isn’t being applied to Brooks’ past too. However, the Grizzlies will likely be glad to have the defensive stalwart on the court as they attempt to even the series. The Grizzlies and Lakers will face off next on Monday.

Dillon Brooks Ejected For Hitting LeBron James

Dillon Brooks has been ejected from the Memphis Grizzlies Game 3 matchup with the Los Angeles Lakers for striking LeBron James below the belt. The refs handed him the flagrant 2 call at the start of the third quarter as the Lakers led 53-37.

Brooks finished the game with seven points on 3-of-13 shooting in 19 minutes. Going against him, James dropped 15 points on 7-of-12 shooting before Brooks’ ejection. The incident comes after the two exchanged plenty of trash talk throughout the series. When asked about Brooks’ behavior in the first two games on Friday, James told reporters “I’m not here for the bullshit. I’m ready to play and that’s it.”

Brooks admitted that he wanted to poke the bear during an interview after the Grizzlies’ Game 2 win. “I don’t care– he’s old. You know what I mean?” Brooks said. “I was waiting for that. I was expecting him to do that Game 4, Game 5. He wanted to say something when I got my fourth foul. He should have been saying that earlier on. But I poke bears. I don’t respect no one until they come and give me 40.”

Lakers forward Rui Hachimura, whose been had a key role for the Lakers thus far in the series, also responded to Brooks’ behavior on Friday. “I heard about it,” Hachimura said. “I’m not really into social media, but I heard about it. Honestly, that’s all they can do. They’re a young team. They just want to talk. We just don’t really care. We’re going to play our game and we’re trying to win the games.”

If the Lakers can pull out the win on Saturday night, they’ll advance to 2-1 in the series with Game 4 scheduled for Sunday in Los Angeles. If successful then, their earliest chance to close out round one would be Game 5 on Wednesday in Memphis.

Kendrick Perkins is the latest media personality to weigh in on Dillon Brooks’ recent comments about LeBron James. After Wednesday night’s victory over the Lakers, Brooks had some strong words for James. The Grizzlies forward claims that he isn’t worried about LeBron during the team’s playoff series. The Memphis Grizzlies got the best of the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday night, winning 103-93. Throughout the game, Grizzlies forward Dillon Brooks would troll Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James. In the postgame, Brooks would call James “old” and continue the diss toward the league’s top star.

“I was waiting for that. I was expecting him to do that Game 4, Game 5. He wanted to say something when I got my fourth foul. He should have been saying that earlier on. But I poke bears. I don’t respect no one until they come and give me 40.”

Bron didn’t give Brooks 40, but he did drop 28 points and 12 rebounds. That doesn’t stop Brooks from talking.

Dillon Brooks Brushes Off LeBron Confrontation

Dillon Brooks has a long history of starting beef with his NBA opponents. He’s got into with multiple Warriors, namely Draymond Green and Klay Thompson. Elsewhere, he’s squared off with the likes of Patrick Beverley and James Harden. However, his most consistent beef is with LeBron James. Their rivalry dates back to 2021 when LeBron made a “too small” gesture at Brooks during a regular-season matchup. Things lay dormant until January of this year when Brooks hailed his defensive ability as he forced LeBron out of plays because the Lakers star “doesn’t want to go left.”

It’s important to remember that Brooks, a 2017 second-round pick out of Oregon, has always been able to back up his fiery personality. Brooks is an elite wing defender and a central pillar of the Grizzlies’ backcourt. He is a big reason that Memphis had the third-best defensive rating in the league this year. Furthermore, that was all on display in the Grizzlies’ Game 2 win over the Lakers on Wednesday night.

Brooks Calls LeBron “Old”

LeBron may have put up 28 points in the Lakers defeat, but that also came with the star shooting just 1-for-8 from three. Brooks defended LeBron relentlessly all night and things boiled over in the third quarter. As the Grizzlies called a timeout, Brooks claims LeBron called him “dumb” for picking up his fourth personal foul a minute earlier. Brooks proceeded to bark back at LeBron in response. In the fourth, Brooks drilled a three with 7 minutes remaining and stared down LeBron the entire time.

However, the extent of Brooks’ comments came in the post-game media availability. Brooks was dismissive when a reporter commented about some people think he shouldn’t trash-talk one of the league’s brightest stars. “I don’t care, he’s old.” Brooks began, eliciting laughter from the media, “I was waiting for that.
