The Golden State Warriors are heading back to the NBA Finals. The Warriors finished off the Dallas Mavericks in game 5 120-110 to win the series 4-1. Steph Curry was named the inaugural winner of the Magic Johnson Western Conference finals MVP trophy.

The league introduced new trophies for the MVP of both the Eastern and Western Conference finals; the East’s trophy is named after Larry Bird.

“The new trophy is pretty cool,” said Curry, a unanimous selection of nine media members. “Especially with who it’s named after, the standard that Magic set in terms of being a champion and playing the point guard position, whatever other position he played. Just the excellence that he demonstrated throughout his entire career.”

Curry averaged  23.8 points, 7.4 assists, 6.6 rebounds, and 43.9% shooting from 3-point range in the series. In eight years, this will be Curry and the Warriors’ sixth trip to the NBA Finals. Since the Chicago Bulls, no team has had that kind of run at the Finals, the 90s Chicago Bulls. Curry will head into the Finals to secure his first-ever NBA Finals MVP award.

SOURCE SPORTS: Steve Kerr Says “Enough” After Another Unfortunate Mass School Shooting

Steve Kerr Wants a Warriors Home Game on Christmas Day

Before game 4 of the Western Conference Finals, Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr didn’t want to talk basketball. Kerr wanted to talk about another mass school shooting, and what exactly will our elected officials do about it?

“Since we left shootaround, 14 children were killed, 400 miles from here. And a teacher,” Kerr said, referring to the mass shooting that occurred at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, earlier Tuesday.

According to a spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety, the death toll has since risen to at least 19 children and two adults. The 18-year-old suspect, a student at Uvalde High School who entered the elementary school with a handgun and possibly a rifle, is also dead, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said.

It was not immediately clear how many people were wounded, but the school district’s police chief, Pete Arredondo, said there were “several injuries.”

“When are we going to do something?” Kerr yelled, slamming his fists on the table. “I’m tired. I am so tired of getting up here and offering condolences to the devastated families that are out there. I am so tired of the excuse, I am sorry, I am tired of the moments of silence. Enough!”

Kerr has been a long-time advocate of this country to have better gun laws. Kerr’s father was assassinated in a terrorist attack in Beirut back in 1984. For most of Kerr’s adult life, he has championed this country to do much better for their citizens when it comes to gun reform.

SOURCE SPORTS: Dwayne Haskins Was Reportedly Drunk When He Was Fatally Struck On The Florida Highway

Dwayne Haskins

It appears Dwayne Haskins was out drinking “heavily” a few hours before he was struck and killed on a Florida highway earlier this year, according to a toxicology report, The Miami Herald reported on Monday.

The Broward County Medical Examiner’s Office said Haskins’ blood alcohol content was 0.20 when he was fatally struck on Interstate 595 near Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport just before dawn on April 9. That’s 2.5 times the 0.08 legal limit for driving in the state.

Following the release of the autopsy report, Haskins’ widow, Kalabrya Haskins, released a statement through her attorney asking for privacy and patience.

“On behalf of Dwayne’s wife, his family, and his memory, and on behalf of the truth, we respectfully request and pray for privacy, for patience, and for the public to withhold any judgment during this period while the law enforcement authorities continue to investigate and conduct their important work,” the statement read, in part.

Haskins was a former Heisman Trophy finalist at Ohio State and was selected by the Washington Commanders with the No. 15 overall pick in the 2019 NFL draft. Haskins was set to compete for the starting quarterback job for the Pittsburgh Steelers this season before his untimely death.

As the Western Conference Finals were heating up last week, so was a beef between Lil Wayne and Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban.

Lil Wayne was rooting for Phoenix Suns in their second-round matchup with the Dallas Mavericks. The Suns would lose but earlier in the series, Weezy let off his feelings about Mavs superstar Luka Doncic, calling him a “ho.”

Once the Suns were blown out and bounced out of the playoffs, Mavs owner Mark Cuban found that tweet and offered one of his own, using lyrics from Wayne’s “Uproar.”

Wayne saw it and fired back: “Mark Cuban don’t make me et u smacked boy U playin w me?? I will piss in ya fkn mouth ho”

He also dropped this one that hasn’t been deleted:

Wayne’s manager Mack Maine arranged for the brief war of words to stop and now the two met courtside in San Francisco.

Wayne’s friend Skip Bayless provided some additional details.

SOURCE SPORTS: Stephanie McMahon Takes a Leave Of Absence From WWE

Stephanie McMahon 1

The billion-dollar princess of the WWE is stepping away for an extended amount of time. WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon is taking an indefinite leave of absence to focus squarely on her family.

“As of tomorrow, I am taking a leave of absence from the majority of my responsibilities at WWE,” McMahon tweeted. “WWE is a lifelong legacy for me and I look forward to returning to the company that I love after taking this time to focus on my family.”

This most likely refers to the fact that her husband, WWE legend Triple H, suffered a cardiac event last summer that resulted in a near-death experience. Currently, Triple H is back with WWE behind the scenes on a limited basis right now.

Stephanie and her father, Chairman and CEO Vince, are the only McMahons currently still with WWE. She has largely been the one in the family always in from of the press and public appearances for the WWE. She began her time with the company back in 2000 working on the writing team and worked her way up to Executive Vice President of Creative before transitioning to her current role in 2013.

WWE President Nick Khan will assume most of Stephanie’s duties in her absence, according to Wrestlenomics’ Brandon Thurston.

According to PWInsider’s Mike Johnson, “no one but the most inner circle” of the company knew Stephanie’s announcement was coming.

Johnson added that most people in WWE he spoke to were “completely shocked” and “taken aback” by McMahon’s decision.

SOURCE SPORTS: Deion Sanders Wants No Parts Of a “Private” Conversation With Nick Saban

Deion Sanders Drops Surprise Gems To Keep A Woman Happy

Jackson State University head coach Deion Sanders has no interest in taking a call from Alabama head coach Nick Saban anytime soon. Recently, Saban alleged Wednesday at a conference in Birmingham that Jackson State paid top recruit Travis Hunter $1 million to go to the HBCU and flip his commitment. He also accused Texas A&M of essentially buying players using NIL deals.

After his initial comments, Saban wanted to clear the air with Sanders, but he didn’t want any parts of it privately. Sanders is open to talking about everything public instead.

“I haven’t talked to Coach Saban. I’m sure he’s tried to call. We need to talk publicly — not privately. What you said was public. That doesn’t require a conversation. Let’s talk publicly and let everybody hear the conversation,” Sanders told Andscape on Thursday.

“You can’t do that publicly and call privately. No, no, no. I still love him. I admire him. I respect him. He’s the magna cum laude of college football and that’s what it’s going to be because he’s earned that.”

After Saban’s initial claim, Sanders first responded via Twitter with a clean and professional response.

Sanders said Hunter didn’t come to Jackson State, a Football Championship Subdivision school, to chase a dollar.

“I don’t make a million. Travis ain’t built like that. Travis ain’t chasing a dollar. Travis is chasing greatness. Travis and his family don’t get down like that. They never came to us in search of the bag. They’re not built like that. This kid wants to be great.”

Saban is looking crazy right now with his claims without proof. Alabama has been a dominant program, always attracting top recruits. NILs have leveled the playing field, and Saban has to adjust and not sound so bitter about it.

SOURCE SPORTS: Knicks Add Former Rival Tim Hardaway As a Talent Scout

653591.jpg.0

It appears the New York Knicks have locked in an old rival from the 90s to help mold the franchise’s future.

On Thursday, Marc Berman of the New York Post reported that the Knicks had hired Tim Hardaway Sr. as their newest scout. The franchise didn’t publicly announce their acquisition of the former star point man this season.

Hardaway served as an assistant coach to former Detroit Pistons’ head coach Stan Van Gundy from 2014-to 2018.

Hardaway was the heart and soul of the 90’s Miami Heat, who had lengthy playoff battles with the Knicks throughout the decade. Before that, he was a member of the RunTMC Golden State Warriors and Mitch Richmond and Chris Mullin. In their time, the trio was an offensive nightmare for their opponents.

After almost 20 years of waiting from retirement, his name is set to be immortalized in the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 2022 on September 10th. If Hardaway can bring anything to a dormant Knicks franchise, scouting-wise, it would be a needed welcome to the organization.

SOURCE SPORTS: Danny Green Bashes Patrick Beverley For Chris Paul Comments

Patrick Beverley has been on a media frenzy tour lately, and it seems he is on an all-out blitz on Chris Paul. While Beverley is talking about his piece, some current NBA players call him out on his nonsense.

On this week’s episode of his “Inside the Green Room” podcast, Philadelphia 76ers veteran Danny Green went in on Beverley for the way and lengths he has gone on to clown Paul.

“People target you too, Pat Bev,” responded Green, per NBC Sports Philly. “You ain’t playing no f–king defense out there. You ain’t stopping Luka. It’s time and time again I see Luka call your a– ‘little man’ and ‘he’s too f–king small’ and go right at you every chance he gets. When you play Luka you’re a cone, too. How would you like that?

“When you’re talking about a Hall of Famer you can critique, but the disrespect I think was taken a little far,” Green added. “I think [Beverley] just used that platform because he has an issue with Chris, and he used it as a personal vendetta to take out a lot of his anger on the set at that moment. I thought it was unfair to Chris, and I’m sure a lot of people felt the same, a lot of guys in the league. I don’t mind certain guys critiquing players, but you’re a role player. To disrespect a Hall of Famer is too far. Calling somebody a cone is disrespectful, bruh. I don’t care.”

Green is usually a quiet individual that goes in and plays his game. For him to make these comments and come to the defense of Paul only suggest how out of bounds, Beverley was to attack Paul.
