Pastor Troy Says Deion Sanders Inspired His Rap Career

Rapper Pastor Troy is the latest person to come forward with a glowing testimonial about Colorado head coach Deion Sanders. Speaking on September 4, Troy shared an image of a Colorado football helmet and a signed copy of Sanders’ The Encore Remix. As well as his dual NFL and MLB careers, Sanders dropped two albums. 1994’s Prime Time peaked at #70 on the US Hip Hop chart and at #14 on the US Heatseekers chart. The Encore Remix, released in 2005, did not chart.

“I Did My Friday Report in the 4th Grade on the #1 pick for the Atlanta Falcons in 1989,” Troy began. “He was walking through the airport with them ropes on. He looked like what I wanted to look like, A Rapper! Now, He’s the Head Coach of @cubuffsfootball and we family. We been down since before JSU, @nuface doesn’t have this autographed!” Troy wrote in his Instagram caption.

Deion Sanders Has Buffs Rolling

Colorado opened the 2023 season with a tough road game at last season’s National Championship runners-up, TCU. However, the Buffs were able to silence the crowd in Fort Worth with a 45-42 upset victory. It marked the program’s first road win since 2021 and showed the country what PrimeTime Colorado was all about. Sanders’ son Shedeur set a new single-game passing record for the school as he threw for 510 yards and 4 touchdowns. Meanwhile, two-way star Travis Hunter put up 119 receiving yards and an interception. Sanders kept his postgame remarks simple while discussing his team’s victory – “We comin’.” In the subsequent AP Poll, the Buffs, jumped to #22. It’s the first time they’ve been ranked since the Week 14 poll of the 2020 season.

Next up for Colorado is their home opener against long-time rivals Nebraska. “We don’t like Nebraska. Simple. But that’s not going to change the preparation or anything like that, because we prepare like nobody likes us, because we know we’re going to get everybody’s best game,” Shedeur Sanders told reporters. Dubbed the worst team in the FBS by some pundits, Colorado opened the season with a tough road game at last season’s National Championship runners-up, TCU. How Far Can Sanders Take Colorado In Year 1?

2023 is a very weird season for Colorado. They were projected to finish 11th in the Pac-12, a conference that won’t exist next year. They moved to the Big 12 next year, where the now-defeated TCU will become a regular opponent. In short, this is a year for Deion Sanders to show everyone that he can build an FBS program. Come Monday, there will be hundreds of op-eds projecting Colorado to be a National Championship contender. However, there were plenty of things that could stymie Colorado on display in their win over TCU.

Firstly, TCU is not the same team that made it to the National Championship. They were gutted by the NFL Draft, losing most of the players that made the run possible. Colorado shouldn’t expect the same treatment from a more consistent year-to-year roster (like USC). Secondly, Colorado had no ground game. Sure, Sanders threw for 510 yards. But he also lost 32 yards on five rushing plays and the team as a whole secured less than 100 rushing yards. Colorado could struggle with teams that get to the QB more consistently. As for what’s next – Colorado welcomes Nebraska to Folsom Field next week. The Huskers lost their opening game 13-10 to Minnesota.

After three years leading Jackson State, Sanders left to revamp a Colorado program that had won just nine games over the past three seasons. Over 70 players have left the program, with nearly 40 joining via the transfer portal. This has led to some criticism of Sanders’ behavior from other members of the NCAA coaching world. However, the hype has never been higher for the Colorado program. Perhaps as a result of this, discussions as to whether Colorado is going to leave the ever-ailing Pac-12 have begun to circulate.

However, the program is still yet to play a game under Sanders. It’s a moment that everyone is eagerly anticipating. Despite the hype, the run-up to their season opener against TCU has been tough for Sanders. Sanders has been dealing with circulation issues in his left foot for a number of years. During an August 15 training session at Folsom Field, tensions briefly flared. Safety Jaden Milliner-Jones threw running back Anthony Hankerson to the ground after a short-yardage touchdown run. This led to tackle Gerad Christian-Litchenhan squaring off with Milliner-Jones and soon an all-out brawl was in full swing. The ruckus was eventually broken up by assistant coaches. However, Coach Sanders had a surprising take on the whole situation.

“I seen two of you walking off, over there, and you’ve got a key teammate fighting,” Sanders said. “Where they do that at? Where they do that at? If one fights, we all fight,” Sanders continued. “You understand that? I don’t want to see you all walking off when somebody’s fighting. Never again!” It’s a bold take from the coach. Coaches usually instruct their players to avoid fighting. However, for Coach Prime, it’s an all-or-nothing deal when it comes to team unity. As mentioned, Colorado kick off their first season under the Hall of Famer with a September 2 visit to TCU.

Tracey Edmonds Gives Update On Deion Sanders’ Condition Following Surgery

Deion Sanders’ longtime girlfriend Tracey Edmonds gave an update on his condition after he underwent surgery to remove blood clots in his leg.

Deion underwent surgery on his left leg on Friday, June 23. He was expected to be released from the hospital on Sunday, June 25.

Tracey thanked Deion’s fans for their prayers in a post on her Instagram page on Friday.

“We declare.. God has #CoachPrime @deionsanders covered today! Thank you so much Fam for all your prayers!!”

In a video shared on Instagram on Saturday, Deion said he had successful surgery to remove blood clots in his left thigh and below his left knee. He said he also has a blood clot in the right leg that doctors were “going to get soon.”

His doctor feared he would lose his left foot due to poor circulation caused by blood clots in his leg. But Deion dismissed talks of amputation on Thursday.

“There is no talk of amputation. There’s no talk of any of that whatsoever,” he said.

He said the surgery on Friday was to “try to get those clots so I can have proper blood flow to the leg so they can fix the toes. That’s what’s going on.”

Deion Sanders’ rebuild of the Colorado Buffaloes football team had to be put on hold for a few days so that the NFL legend could get surgery. Sanders has been dealing with circulation issues in his left foot for a number of years. After having two toes amputated in 2021, surgeons could worry that the persisting problem could cost him the whole foot.

However, it wasn’t his foot that prompted emergency surgery on June 22. Instead, as first reported by Pat McAfee, Sanders had been admitted to the hospital to remove a clot in his groin. The severity of the clot was not made public. However, it appeared bad enough that it required an unscheduled surgery to correct.

Sanders In Good Spirits Post-Surgery

However, to the relief of many, it appears that surgery went well. Deion Sanders Jr. posted a video to his father’s Instagram account showing Coach Prime face-timing with his family. The video was captioned “There’s something wrong with @shilosanders … family conversation @shedeursanders @deionsandersjr @shilosanders @deiondrasanders #CoachPrime (posted by @deionsandersjr)”. Sanders is expected to leave hospital in the coming days. Given his work ethic, we could be back on the turf at Folsom Field this week.

In the video, Sanders, lying in a hospital bed, is face timing his children. After confirming that he had two clots in his left leg removed, and another in his right leg yet to be removed, he began joking around his children. “I told ’em – Shilo ain’t no good, Shilo ain’t no good.” Shilo, who plays defensive back and recently transferred to play under his dad at Colorado, couldn’t help but joke around. “I told ’em you were getting a BBL,” Shilo quipped. McAfee seemed quite somber about the whole thing, although he and his castmates were quick to offer their best regards to the NFL legend. Overall, this is pretty scary stuff. Deion Sanders Facing Potential Foot Amputation Due To Blood Flow Problems

Deion Sanders may have to get his left foot amputated as he continues to suffer from blood flow problems in the area, according to doctors with the Colorado football team.

“You just have to understand what the risks are,” vascular surgeon Donald Jacobs told Sanders on “Thee Pregame Things can cascade.” Jacobs also told Colorado athletic trainer Lauren Askevold that “he could lose the foot.” Sanders, the new coach of the Colorado Buffaloes football team, has been dealing with issues with this foot for some time, including having to have his big toe and the toe next to it amputated due to blood clots running down his leg from the top of his calf.

Max Wohlauer, another vascular surgeon, told Sanders that the blood pressure measured near the left foot had been the same as the blood pressure in his arm a year ago, but is now at around 66% compared to the arm.

“So those arteries have shut down,” Wohlauer said.

During Sanders’ time coaching at Jackson State, he routinely dealt with pain, including on game days. It starts hurting after a few hours, and I have to keep the blood circulating to get movement out of it,” Sanders told Shannon Sharpe on his “Club Shay Shay” podcast.

“Like, I can make it through like three-quarters of a game, then after that, I’m on meds and everything. I’m limping, I’ve got a little stroll at the beginning of the game, and right at the third quarter I’m limping like crazy.”

The 55-year-old missed three games during the 2021 season with Jackson State due to complications with the foot.

Long-time fans and boosters are reportedly struggling to get season and box tickets amid a rush of new support for the team.

Colorado’s first season under Sanders begins with a trip to TCU, the team that finished runners-up in the National Championship last season. Furthermore, Sanders missed three games in 2021 due to complications from a previous foot surgery. However, the current issues appear to be much more severe.

Colorado To Transfer To Big 12 After Pac-12 TV Deal

The Pac-12 is currently at the tail-end of negotiations on a new television deal. This comes at a monumental time for the Pac-12, as USC and UCLA prepare to leave for the Big 10 next year. Furthermore, the status of the deal is uncertain, as talks recently broke down with ESPN. However, it appears that the deal is going to lead to more exits from the embattled conference. “BREAKING: Nothing becomes official until the #Pac12 gets their TV deal finalized, but now multiple sources tell us tonight that the #Buffs and #BearDown will move to the #Big12. No word on the #Utes and #SunDevils, but Yormark may just take two and save some spots for #ACC teams,” NCAA insider Greg Swaim tweeted on June 4.

If Swaim’s information is correct, that means both Colorado and Arizona will be leaving the Pac-12 for the Big 12. Latest reports suggest that the Pac-12 will be adding San Diego State and potentially SMU to mitigate the loss of the two LA schools. However, the loss of Colorado and Arizona is a major blow to the conference. Despite this, it could be the death knell of the Pac-12. Oregon and Washington have both reportedly spoken with the Big 10. Meanwhile, Utah and Arizona State could both look to both away as well in the near future. Deion Sanders, aka Coach Prime, has been making waves ever since he arrived at Folsom Field to lead the hapless Colorado Buffaloes NCAA football program. Despite the team not playing a competitive snap yet, everyone wants in on Prime’s vision. Furthermore, the Buffaloes’ Spring Game sold out for the first time in history, and attendance outnumbered the last nine games combined. It’s a new era in Colorado.

However, not everyone has been a fan. Sanders raised eyebrows with his liberal use of the transfer portal. According to OurLads, nine of Colorado’s 11 projected starters on defense are transfers. Meanwhile, 46 of Colorado’s 83 scholarship players have left the program. Sanders has completely rebuilt the program but their success in a loaded Pac-12 remains to be seen. Colorado’s last winning season was in 2016, when they went 10-4. They have won a combined nine games across the last three seasons.

Coach Prime’s Newest Transfer

However, Coach Prime has proudly unveiled his latest addition to the Buffaloes – a customized F-650. The base model of the heavy-duty truck retails for $150,000. Sanders’ version includes multiple customizations, including a large “PRIME” logo on the front grille. Showing off the truck, Sanders joked “You gotta jump like Ja Morant to get in my car.” Safe to say that Sanders was very excited, “My baby’s here,” Sanders said. “They just told me my baby’s here. Lord I thank you!” Six years ago, Shaq bought a similarly kitted out F-650 for $125,000.

Colorado’s season begins on September 2 by traveling to National Champion runners-up TCU. They will also face Nebraska and Colorado State in the non-conference slate before beginning Pac-12 play at Oregon.
