Angus Cloud celebrated the release of MacArthur Maze’s Blvck Saturday album on Friday night, just days prior to his tragic death. In photos from the release party, the Euphoria star wore a black hoodie with a baseball hat and appeared to be in good spirits. According to the US Sun, he stayed “for a few hours and did not show any sign of a personal struggle.”

Cloud’s family announced his passing in a statement on Monday. They wrote: “It is with the heaviest heart that we had to say goodbye to an incredible human today. As an artist, a friend, a brother and a son, Angus was special to all of us in so many ways. Last week he buried his father and intensely struggled with this loss. The only comfort we have is knowing Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his best friend. Angus was open about his battle with mental health and we hope that his passing can be a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not fight this on their own in silence.”

The family added that they “hope the world remembers him for his humor, laughter and love for everyone. We ask for privacy at this time as we are still processing this devastating loss.”

An HBO spokesperson added in a statement to CNN: “We are incredibly saddened to learn of the passing of Angus Cloud. He was immensely talented and a beloved part of the HBO and Euphoria family. We extend our deepest condolences to his friends and family during this difficult time.” Check out pictures from Cloud’s night at MacArthur Maze’s release party here.

Unearthed Footage Shows 2Pac In The Streets Of Vegas Just Before His Murder

Some previously unseen footage of 2Pac has hit the internet. In the clip, the late artist is seen chatting with friends and fans just before being shot in a drive-by on September 7, 1996. The clip is a chilling watch with the knowledge that just moments later, he would be murdered. The eerie footage was unearthed amid 2Pac’s newly reignited murder investigation.

Earlier this month, Las Vegas police raided a home owned by Paula Clemons, the wife of Duane “Keefe D” Davis. Footage later surfaced of the raid, and police were heard calling out orders to two individuals in the home on a megaphone. The quiet Henderson, NV neighborhood was lit up with police lights as two residents were removed from the residence. It’s unconfirmed whether or not the man and woman receiving orders in the footage were Keefe D and his wife.

2Pac Chats With Fans Before His Murder

Keefe D’s nephew, Orlando Anderson, is allegedly responsible for 2Pac’s murder. Anderson and the late icon reportedly got into an altercation at a hotel the night of his shooting. Anderson died in 1998, without ever being charged with the 2Pac’s murder. It was recently reported that officers recovered various bullets from Keefe D’s home, with sources claiming they will undergo a forensic analysis. Officials will attempt to “determine if they have any link to the bullets found in 2Pac’s body or on the scene of the homicide,” according to Daily Mirror. “There is no information yet on the history of the bullets, how old they are, or their significance. And it will take some time to assess how the bullets play a role in this case,” they also added.

“It is a long shot that the bullets will be the ones from 1996,” the source continued. Despite the slim chance that the bullets are linked to 2Pac’s murder, officials are holding out hope that the investigation “could lead to an arrest or indictment.”

Leeds Hospital Apologizes For Care Of MF Doom

One of the most beloved underground rappers of all time, MF DOOM, passed away three years ago. Fans weren’t made immediately aware of his passing. Later that year the rapper’s widow informed the public through an Instagram post. In fact, very little about his late life and ultimate death was public knowledge until recently. A few days ago DOOM’s widow Jasmine made some of the details public knowledge when she pleaded for answers surrounding his death.

Now, the hospital in Leeds where MF DOOM was being cared for has issued an apology for the rapper dying in their care. According to The Guardian, an investigation into his death revealed “missed opportunities” for treating his angioedema. The rapper’s throat, tongue, and lips were reportedly swollen after he was prescribed medication to control his blood pressure. After receiving new medication he suffered breathing problems on October 23rd, 2023. Though his condition seemed to improve in the following days with treatment it suddenly and rapidly worsened. He was put on a ventilator and ultimately died on October 31st, 2023.

Details Of MF DOOM’s Death Emerge

MF DOOM, whose real name is Daniel Dumile, faced less than optimal hospital arrangements. This was due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic which prevented his wife Jasmine from seeing him during much of his stay. Once the public learned of the rap legend’s passing dozens and dozens of fellow artists poured out love for him.

MF DOOM is still seen as a highly influential figure in hip-hop. Earlier this year The Weeknd was photographed sporting a mask that was clearly inspired by the one often worn by DOOM. Earlier this year Madlib teased fans with the long awaited follow-up to his and DOOM’s collaborative album Madvillainy. The original album came out over 20 years ago and the sequel has been a long time coming. What do you think of the hospital apologizing for MF DOOM’s tragic passing? Let us know in the comment section below.

Casino Jizzle Shot & Killed; Hip-Hop Artist Dead At 27

When it comes to the Tennessee rap game, there was one new up-and-comer that was primed to make waves. Sadly, the artist known as Casino Jizzle will never get his chance to make it big. The hip-hop singer, born Robert Tunstall, was shot and killed in northeast Memphis on the Fourth of July. Casino Jizzle was pronounced dead at the scene and was 27 years old. His manager confirmed this on Tuesday. This occurred just days before Jizzle’s July 7th album drop. DUH is his debut album, and he was getting ready to become a big deal in hip-hop.

Casino Jizzle had the numbers to gain some serious traction. With 10 million Apple Music streams and 46 million YouTube views, the man was ready to make a splash in the rap game. Unfortunately, he passed away at the same deadly age as other famous musical artists. (Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Kurt Cobain, and Amy Winehouse are a few members of the “27 Club.”)

The Aftermath of Casino Jizzle’s Shooting

The mother of Casino Jizzle’s child, Brianna Hollins, took to Facebook to showcase her grief. “I’m LOSTED WITHOUT U SWEAR TO GOD,” she writes, clearly devastated to lose a man she loved way too soon. She shared pictures of them hanging out in Nevada on what looks like a vacation from 2022. Jizzle had dealt with gun violence in the past. Back in 2019, he was in critical condition following a shooting in front of a Tennessee Chuck E. Cheese.

As for who pulled the trigger in this fatal incident, Memphis police are not yet sure of an official identity. However, there is a warrant out for 27-year-old Michael Clayton for murder in the first degree (according to WREG, the local CBS affiliate). Casino Jizzle’s most popular song on Spotify, “Message,” has almost 330k listens. So far as we know, his debut album DUH is still releasing tomorrow, albeit to somber circumstances. The HotNewHipHop family offers condolences to the family and friends left behind. Rest In Peace, Casino Jizzle.

Ice-T Gets Choked Up Discussing 2Pac On “Drink Champs”

Ice-T got emotional while discussing his relationship with 2Pac during his latest appearance on the Drink Champs podcast. The rapper was explaining that Death Row Records was “training him to be a killer” before his death. The conversation began with N.O.R.E. asking about the differences between ‘Pac’s early career as a backup dancer and MC for Digital Underground and the superstardom that followed.

“Absolutely,” Ice-T answered. “When I first met ‘Pac and Money-B and all them, it was Digital Underground, so you got Shock G who’s a hundred percent different. I didn’t even recognize ‘Pac as militant or nothing like that, just as a dancer, friend, cool.

Ice-T At The Grammys

He continued: “And when he came out, I was like, ‘Yo, that’s the same dude!’ But I couldn’t disrespect him because his lyrics were deep, and I got to work on [Strictly 4 My N.*.*.*.A.Z…] — me, him and Cube on ‘Last Wordz.’ So what people don’t understand is, I love ‘Pac. But he’s an artist to me, he was just another artist. People are like, ‘Pac is a God!’ But ‘Pac is an artist. We were friends.”

From there, he recalled a time Shock G came to his house to ask for help regarding 2Pac. “I had a story where Shock G came to my house,” he said. “I lived in the Hollywood Hills, Shock came to my door. I said, ‘Why the fuck you knocking on my door?’ He said, ‘I was up in the Hills, I asked does any Black people live up here.’ They said, ‘Ice lives right over there.’ So Shock knocked on my door. We sat down and he was like, ‘Ice, talk to ‘Pac, man. They feeding ‘Pac gunpowder. ‘Pac is not listening to me.’” It’s at this point in the interview that Ice-T begins to get choked up.

Ice-T Reflects On 2Pac Friendship

Ice-T eventually regained his composure and continued: “See the thing is, when you working with a rapper, you have to get a rapper in a state of mind. Death Row was training ‘Pac to be a killer, which you heard in the music. But I did a thing for Mike Tyson which is like, you train a man to be a pitbull then you get mad when he eats the furniture. You see what I mean? So that energy bled into the streets, to his demise.”

Robert De Niro’s Grandson Has Passed Away At 19

Leandro De Niro Rodriguez, grandson of the great Robert De Niro, has died, according to a TMZ report. He was 19 years old. His mother, Drena De Niro, confirmed his passing on her Instagram on Sunday night. “My beautiful sweet angel,” she said in her post, “I don’t know how to live without you, but I’ll try to go on and spread the love and light that you so made me feel in getting to be your mama. You were so deeply loved and appreciated, and I wish that love alone could have saved you.”

Law enforcement told TMZ reporters Rodriguez was in his NYC apartment Sunday afternoon. He was sitting in a chair, not responding. A friend found him after a few days of zero contact from Rodriguez. The most recent update from law enforcement is that they are investigating this as a possible drug overdose. They discovered drugs and drug paraphernalia alongside the body.

“I’m deeply distressed by the passing of my beloved grandson Leo,” De Niro said on Monday. “We’re greatly appreciative of the condolences from everyone. We ask that we please be given privacy to grieve our loss of Leo.” The 79-year-old actor was most recently filming in January of this year for The Wise Guys. However, he is at the moment not filming anything, giving him proper time and space to grieve this tragic situation. De Niro also let slip in May that he’d welcomed his seventh child into the world, which, at 79, makes for an interesting challenge.

As for Leandro De Niro Rodriguez, his acting career was just beginning at the time of his passing. He starred in A Star Is Born and Cabaret Maxime, both in 2018. He played the son of Bradley Cooper’s character’s best friend in A Star Is Born. Dave Chappelle played his father in the movie. At just 19 years old, Rodriguez’s death is devastating for the De Niro family.

Erykah Badu Reflects On J. Dilla’s Greatness

Erykah Badu is currently on her “Unfollow Me” tour with rapper Yasiin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def). During her stop in San Diego, CA, she opened up about her musical relationship with the late J Dilla. Via Detroit rapper Frank Nitt’s Insta feed, she talked about the rap producer at length. “He didn’t really talk a lot,” Erykah said when a fan asked about what it was like to work with him. “He was very quiet… [Communicated] through the music, mostly.”

She also called J Dilla “super organized.” She referenced a detail that all of J Dilla’s Coca-Cola cans in his fridge were aligned so the logo was facing out. Dilla was an engineer through and through, and it showed. Erykah continues by saying he was generous and merciful. He taught people in the music industry, but Erykah Badu also says he would let others get away with stuff. “Like, he let a lot of people get away with, like, biting his sh*t,” Badu says. J Dilla died in 2006 from lupus complications. But his resolve impressed Erykah: “This is the most important thing; he was sick, but nobody knew. That speaks volumes.”

J Dilla was a tremendous hip-hop producer. His career, which started in the ’90s, included collaborating with A Tribe Called Quest and Common. He became a part of the Soulquarians collective, with Erykah Badu also being a member. Mama’s Gun, Badu’s second album from 2000, features the track “Didn’t Cha Know.” Dilla produced that track for his collective teammate, creating a solid friendship built around music. Recently, Logic claimed he had an entire album full of J Dilla beats that he eventually scrapped.

Erykah Badu’s “Unfollow Me” Tour is speaking to the current rampant cancel culture. Breaking down the meaning with VIBE a few weeks back, the Neo Soul artist lets her fans know if they don’t agree with what she says, then they should simply unsubscribe. “Whenever someone says something in the comments, they don’t agree; I don’t care, unfollow me, doesn’t matter.” She says she’s on a journey and that her audience is on their own journey, and that that’s all okay. The tour will conclude in late July in San Antonio, TX.
