Chris Paul Claims Daryl Morey Lied To Him About OKC Trade

Chris Paul has claimed that Daryl Morey promised not to trade him to OKC in 2019. “Daryl call me. He said ‘I was just calling you to make sure you didn’t wanna go to OKC.’ I was like, ‘No, why I don’ moved 15 people to Houston.’ And he was like, ‘Okay I was just making sure. I would never trade you to somewhere you didn’t want to go.’ I’m at the house chilling and next thing you know [the alert] said that I was getting traded [to OKC]. And then my phone started ringing and it was Daryl. Daryl was like, ‘Hey man, it just moves so fast.’ I said, ‘It’s all good I just want you to tell me one thing. You said you wasn’t going to trade me, right?’ He said, ‘Yeah I said that but–’ I said, ‘That’s all I needed to know.’”

Paul was sent to the Thunder along with picks in exchange for picks and Russell Westbrook. 18 months later, in November 2020, Paul was on the move again. This time he was the core piece in a massive player trade that sent him to Phoenix. Of course, Paul now finds himself in the Bay Area after Phoenix traded him to Washington, who then traded him to Golden State.

North West’s Basketball Skills Have Fans Revisiting Kanye’s Chris Paul Claims

James Harden Reiterates Relationship With Sixers Can’t Be Fixed

James Harden has once again stated that he has no relationship with the Sixers front office and that his dispute with the team can only be resolved via trade. “This is not even about this situation — this is in life. When you lose trust in someone, it’s like a marriage … you lose trust in someone, you know what I mean? It’s pretty simple,” Harden said at his first media appearance since the start of Sixers training camp. “When I got traded here, my whole thing is I wanted to retire a Sixer. I wanted to be here and retire a Sixer. And the front office didn’t have that in their future plans,” Harden added while pointedly refuse to explicitly name President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey.

Harden does, however, like new head coach Nick Nurse. “Nick is very versatile. He’s a players’ coach. He understands it. I’ve known him a little bit; he was the G League coach in Houston. He’s obviously won a championship. He just sees the game different and I’m a fan of him,” Harden said. On the topic of basketball, Harden said he would be playing this year, ruling out the possibility of a holdout. However, it’s clear to everyone that Harden will not be happy if he’s playing in Philly and not LA.

Clippers Still Chasing Harden

Harden has been well-behaved in training camp so far, despite many expecting him to be a disruptive force. However, this may be due to rumors that the Clippers are still actively working to acquire Harden. “League sources say Harden also is taking part because he remains hopeful that a trade to the Clippers is still in the works and believes, for now, that it would be wise to not be a distraction. And the Clippers, league sources say, are going to great lengths to make it happen. League sources say the Clippers have been talking to several teams about ways to move pick swaps for additional draft capital with the intention of bolstering their offer and getting a deal done,” Sam Amick and Shams Charania reported for The Athletic.

Furthermore, the report shed some light on what sort of compensation the Sixers are looking for from the Clippers. The Sixers reportedly rejected an unprotected first, a pick swap, and salary compensation for Harden. Instead, the current counter-offer appears to be Terance Mann and multiple firsts. This would explain why the Clippers were looking to involve a third team. Mann had 8.8 points and 3.4 rebounds per game last season. However, the Harden saga remains an unfolding story.

SOURCE SPORTS: James Harden Tells 76ers to Build Team and Give Him "Whatever is Left" in New Contract

The Los Angeles Clippers have ended their pursuit of disgruntled Philadephia 76ers guard James Harden. According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, the Clippers called off the deal during negotiations.

“[The Clippers] tried to trade for James Harden, and that deal didn’t happen,” Windhorst said. “And from what I understand, it was the Clippers who said, ‘Okay, there’s no deal here. We’re gonna move on.’ And while I assume that they could certainly make a deal midseason, I assume that this is what they’re gonna go with.”

This now sets to bring a reluctact Harden into Sixers training camp, making for an unsettling group experience.

James Harden does not like the stories that were released about him over the past couple of days. Hitting Instagram, Harden released an Instagram story blasting the main report from ESPN.

“Y’all gotta chill wit these reports,” Harden wrote. “Imma start reporting shit.”

Harden has openly expressed his desire to be traded from the Sixers, claiming the Los Angeles Clippers are his preferred landing spot.

In a new story on ESPN, Senior Writer Ramona Shelburne details a rocky season in the city of Brotherly Love, where some of his behavior put off then-coach Doc Rivers and Harden’s teammates.

In mid-December, Rivers lit into Harden for taking the final three shots in regulation of a double-overtime loss to the young and lottery-bound-again Rockets, sources said. It wasn’t that Rivers didn’t trust Harden to take the final three shots — he had allowed him to run the offense and call his own number on the final play of regulation by not calling a timeout following a defensive rebound. It’s that the Rockets had no answer for Embiid (39 points) all night and Harden wasn’t shooting well (4-for-19).

When questioned in the film session, Harden demurred, saying he just couldn’t get the ball to Embiid, sources said. These flare-ups between Harden and Rivers continued throughout the season.

After dropping back-to-back games to East contenders, Harden took an early flight to Miami, separate from the team, to enjoy nightlife. The move was stated to be a common practice for Harden but did not sit well with his teammates. A team meeting followed, leading to a win against the HEAT but a run that would include another second-round playoff ousting and Rivers being fired. The main reason Rivers is tossed is believed to be because Harden didn’t want to play for him in the future.

The NBA has fined James Harden $100,000 for August 14 and 17 comments against Daryl Morey and calling for a trade. The NBA’s note states Harden’s comments lead to believe he would not perform under his contract unless he plays for a team different than the Philadelphia 76ers.

The NBA revealed they investigated Harden, including an interview, before arriving at their final decision.

Last month, the Philadelphia 76ers called off all trade talks involving James Harden and stated they would expect Harden to be at training camp. Early Monday morning, NBA Insider Shams Charania shared a video from Harden’s China tour for Adidas in which he blasts 76ers president Daryl Morey. Morey and Harden have a relationship dating back to the Houston Rockets.

“Daryl Morey is a liar and I will never be a part of an organization that he’s a part of,” Harden told those gathered. “Let me say that again: Daryl Morey is a liar and I will never be a part of an organization that he’s a part of.”

On Saturday, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski ended trade talks for Harden, who has a preferred destination of the Los Angeles Clippers. Harden picked up his $35.6 million player option but the Sixers’ request for Harden was too high for most bidders.

Much to his chagrin, James Harden is still a member of the Philadelphia 76ers. Harden has openly expressed his desire to be traded from the Sixers, claiming the Los Angeles Clippers are his preferred landing spot.

James Harden Fined Large Sum After Calling Daryl Morey A “Liar”

James Harden is someone who has never been shy about demanding a trade. Overall, this has proven to be very bad for the Houston Rockets and Brooklyn Nets. However, it is now a bad thing for the Philadelphia 76ers. Harden has made it clear that he no longer wants to play for the team anymore. Although, as it stands, the Sixers don’t have plans to trade him. Even if they did want to trade him, it would be almost impossible as there is no market for him. James Harden Shockingly Rips Daryl Morey For Being A “Liar”

James Harden is someone who is known for wanting to be traded from teams when the going gets tough. He was traded from Houston and the same thing happened in Brooklyn. Overall, there is a very obvious pattern at play as it pertains to Harden and his trade desires. Typically, he will begin by getting a bit overweight and out of shape. Furthermore, he starts holding out from practices, which makes his team that much more frustrated. Finally, the team gives in and trades Harden as they don’t want to deal with the mess.

Currently, the Philadelphia 76ers are dealing with that situation. Harden has made it clear that he no longer wants to play for the team. However, it is not going to be that easy for him. Reports have indicated that there isn’t much of a market for Harden right now. Consequently, the Sixers have stopped engaging in trade talks. As you can imagine, Harden is not happy about this, at all. In fact, it was reported last night that Harden told a group in China that he thinks Morey is a “liar.” In the clip below, Harden makes it clear he will never play under Morey, again.

The NBA world is in shock over the whole ordeal, and we cannot wait to see how this all turns out. If you’re the Sixers, you have to trade him now.

Sixers Players Will Not Influence Coaching Search

The Philadelphia 76ers parted ways with head coach Doc Rivers on May 16. Rivers had been in charge at the Wells Fargo Center for three seasons and was well-liked by many players. However, he also failed to get the Sixers past the second round of the playoffs every season, despite improving in wins year after year. After the blowout loss to Boston that ended the Sixers’ season, Rivers fell to 16-33 in Game 7 scenarios.

The departure came as a shock to many members of the Sixers organization, especially MVP Joel Embiid. Embiid had an incredibly close relationship with Rivers and was not aware that the coach would not be returning next season. However, it appears that is the exact culture GM Daryl Morey is attempting to build in Philly.

Morey Says Coaching Search Will Be “Careful”

Conducting his exit interview before the offseason, Morey spoke at length about the search for a new head coach. The Sixers are expected to speak with Mike Budenholzer, Nick Nurse, and Frank Vogel amongst a number of other candidates. Other local media has also proposed a number of other candidates. Philly Inquirer columnist Mike Jensen argued that the Sixers should speak with University of South Carolina women’s head coach, and Philly native, Dawn Staley. The Sixers join the Bucks, Pistons, Raptors, and Rockets in hunting for a new head coach.

However, Morey warned the assembled media that a decision will not come soon. “We’re taking a careful process with the coach,” Morey said Wednesday. “We do not think it will move quickly. We have to be careful with the process word but it is true.” Despite this, Morey was also very firm that the decision would be made by the front office, not the players. “It’s my job to help convince him the new coach is someone he’ll have a great relationship with, as well,” Morey said of Embiid. Furthermore, Morey was confident in his ability to lead the Sixers to that ever-elusive title. “Frankly, I feel like I’m the best guy to lead the 76ers and ownership believes that,” he said. Who do you think the Sixers should hire? Let us know in the comments.
