Ben Askren Admits He Underestimated Jake Paul

Is Jake Paul a good boxer? It’s a debate that still ranges in sports circles. Despite being 6-1 in his career, Paul’s record comes with a lot of caveats. His first two fights came against a YouTube and a retired NBA player. Then there came a pair of fights against retired MMA star Tyron Woodley. However, Woodley was making his pro boxing debut in the first of those two fights. That has been a common theme with Paul’s opponents. Even those who have experience as fighters (Woodley, Ben Askren, and Anderson Silva), none of them were seasoned boxers.

This became even more evident when Paul took on boxer Tommy Fury. It marked the first defeat of Paul’s career and showed that he had a long way to go against fighters who had made their career in the ring. However, that hasn’t stopped Paul, who is set to fight former UFC star Nate Diaz in August. Furthermore, Paul has been adamant about getting a chance to fight Conor McGregor in the future. Now, former Paul victim Ben Askren has opened up about his fight with Paul.

Ben Askren Underestimated Paul

Askren opened up about his fight with Paul on Daniel Cormier’s YouTube channel. “I didn’t think Jake Paul would beat Tyron [Woodley] or Anderson Silva. So yeah, I kind of think so. It sounded like fun [to box him] and I hoped he sucked. We didn’t know at that point! At that point, he only boxed a comedian or something and a basketball player. So we didn’t know nothing. I thought, ‘Oh, hopefully, this dude’s just a bum. He’s gonna try and hit me hard for a round, he’s gonna get tired, then I’m gonna beat him up.’ We didn’t know he was any good.”

Furthermore, Askren advocated for Paul to get the chance to fight Conor McGregor. “I think McGregor times Jake Paul makes everyone a lot of money and I think if he beats up Nate Diaz it makes a lot of sense. I don’t know what Conor’s contract is or what his relationship is with UFC where he can go get it done but I think a lot of people buy that fight. There’s a lot of casual fans who just want to see a boxing match and you know what, Jake Paul’s actually not bad at boxing, and maybe I’m just trying to make myself feel better potentially, but he did beat Tyron, he did beat Anderson Silva.”

Jake Paul Makes Bold Claim About Conor McGregor Fight

Jake Paul has not been quiet about his desire to fight Conor McGregor. Despite preparing for a bout with Nate Diaz in August, Paul has said on multiple occasions that he wants his next fight after Diaz to be McGregor. However, it was only recently that McGregor responded to Paul’s comments.

When asked how he felt about Paul’s open challenge to fight him, McGregor called Paul “windy” and a “donkey” while also picking Diaz to win the August fight. Of course, Paul wasn’t going to let the slight go unanswered.

Paul Promises McGregor KO

Speaking on IMPAULSIVE, Paul did not holding back when responding to McGregor. “Guess what, Conor? I’ll beat the f****** f*** out of you and you can’t box as good as me. I’m gonna do to Nate what you couldn’t, which is knock him the f*** out. You’re gonna be sitting there with your new beer company that’s failing, drinking it, drunk as f***, realizing that you pissed your life away drinking at the end of the bottle. You’re gonna say, ‘Damn. I really thought no one was gonna do what I did in this sport. I really thought no one was gonna be as big of a name. I really thought I was gonna be the biggest forever.’ But you can’t choose and you can’t have both lives. You can’t have the fun, party, cocaine life, and be the greatest fighter in the world and you chose the wrong path.”

Paul continued. “That money fight will always be there and when I knock Nate Diaz the f*** out and you realize I’m the biggest fight for you, call me and I’ll answer. I’m my own boss, I make my own decisions. I’m not controlled by Dana White, I don’t have a dad. So, I can make the fight happen. If Dana lets you make the fight happen, then we can run it.” McGregor is 0-1 in ring boxing after a marquee fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2017. However, he is 22-6 in an illustrious MMA career. Meanwhile, Paul is 6-1 in his professional boxing career and is coming off a loss to Tommy Fury in his most recent fight.

Conor McGregor Shaves Off His Iconic Beard

Conor McGregor is someone that fans want to hear from right now, at least when it pertains to getting into the Octagon. It has been a very long time since we’ve seen him fight. Overall, this is due to the fact that he broke his ankle in half in his last fight. However, he seems to be doing just fine right now. Additionally, he has been teasing a fight with Michael Chandler. Unfortunately for fans, this fight has not been officially announced when it comes to a date and time. That said, fans are still hopeful it will get done.

Overall, Conor McGregor is one of the biggest stars that the UFC has ever seen. Having said that, it would certainly help the promotion if he could get back out there. Regardless, Dana White likes to take his time with things, so fans should come to expect these delays. In the meantime, however, McGregor has been enjoying his time as a father. For instance, according to TMZ, he was in Los Angeles this week with his youngest son Rian. Rian turned two years old, and Conor was happy to celebrate the occasion.

Conor McGregor Reveals His New Look

Moreover, in the TMZ video above, Conor McGregor was sporting an interesting new look. Typically, you can find the UFC fighter with a beard. It has been his signature look for a very long time. Very seldom does he actually shave the thing off and go with a smooth face. Well, for his latest trip out to Los Angeles, he opted to change things up. The beard is now gone, and you can probably thank the L.A. heat for that.

Whether or not this has any bearing on his abilities in the ring, remains to be seen. However, we imagine that it will not. Now, fans just want to know when he will be fighting Chandler. It’s a question a lot of people have been asking, and even Conor himself is probably curious. Let us know if you think McGregor would win, in the comments section below. Jake Paul Already Knows Who He Wants To Fight After Nate Diaz

YouTuber and professional boxer has started to make a name for himself in the world of professional fighting. At first, his boxing career was considered something of a joke by industry experts. His first fights came against YouTubers and retired athletes making their boxing debut. Even UFC great Anderson Silva came with an asterisk. Namely because a) Silva was 48 when he fought Paul and b) had just five boxing matches to his name. But then Paul earned a split decision loss against Tommy Fury, an actual boxer. Maybe Paul could find success after all.

Well, “maybe” is the operative word there. Paul’s next fight is an August bout with former UFC fighter Nate Diaz, who is making his professional boxing debut. What makes this fight different, however, is that while Diaz may not be tied top a promotion right now, he is not a retired fighter like many of Paul’s other opponents. The thing is, Paul is already looking past Diaz and planning who he might take on next.

Jake Paul has wanted to fight UFC legend Conor McGregor for a long time. As early as the second fight of his career, a win over retired NBA player Nate Robinson, Paul said he wanted to build up to face McGregor. He reiterated that during a conversation with ESPN at a presser for his fight with Diaz. “I see a road map where I knock out Nate and then go to Conor McGregor,” Paul said. “To do what Conor couldn’t do — knock out Nate — and then that’ll be the biggest fight in combat sports that could possibly be made.”

However, this lofty goal comes with a few caveats. Firstly, Paul will need to beat Diaz. That’s easier said than done as while Diaz is not a boxer, he is a tenacious and proud fighter. Without a win over Diaz, there’s little pedigree to attract McGregor. Secondly, McGregor still has two fights left on his current UFC contract. Those would likely have to be completed before McGregor was cleared for a fight with Paul. Thirdly, there’s the pecking order. Diaz has a better claim to a fight with McGregor given the mutual decision for a rubber match between the two in the Octagon. Furthermore, McGregor will reportedly fight UFC fan-favorite Michael Chandler in the second half of 2023. However, any fight cards will be found here on HotNewHipHop.

Conor McGregor Confronts Mike Perry After Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship

Conor McGregor is prone to steal the show at any combat sports event he attends, even if he’s not the one fighting. Moreover, that’s exactly what happened Saturday night (April 29) at the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, where Mike Perry fought against Luke Rockhold. After the latter got his teeth busted up and removed himself from the fight, Perry emerged victorious, but found another opponent instead. Furthermore, McGregor joined him on stage and they had a fake face-off during which the MMA star grabbed Perry’s BKFC belt. All in all, it seemed to be just a stare-down for fun, although McGregor obviously had some words to share, as well.

Of course, Conor McGregor lightly challenged Perry to a fight of their own, remarking how all he did was walk in there and grab the belt. “Come get it, baby!” he exclaimed after their showdown. As one of the most prominent figures in the combat sports world (who is out on injury right now), his antics make for a crowd favorite. As the match went on, he drank from his whiskey and toasted the crowd to uproarious cheers and applause.

Conor McGregor & Mike Perry Face Off

Still, that broken leg from his 2021 fight with Dustin Poirier was a scary moment that left him thinking he’d never fight again. However, that lore added to his image and status as a fighting superstar, which rose exponentially in the past several years. The next move to take a peek behind Conor McGregor’s curtain is a Netflix documentary on the Irish fighter. Specifically, the documentary will reportedly highlight his return to the UFC octagon against Michael Chandler and also touch on his career as a whole.

With that, fans of Notorious should be incredibly excited for some more action and excitement from McGregor. In fact, hype around him is so big that he even recently appeared on Fox News as a guest. Time will tell how his comeback will pan out for his health and record. Regardless, it will be a massive event in the community that’s bound to bring a lot of corners of pop culture and sports together. Conor McGregor Netflix Documentary Announced

Conor McGregor once thought he would never fight again. The MMA legend suffered a horrific leg break back in 2021 during his bout with Dustin Poirier. The injury led to an immediate stoppage of the fight. While McGregor was also taken into surgery soon after his arrival at the hospital. A moment like this would be dark for any person to have to go to. However, McGregor is ready to share with the world his return from such a tough injury.

On Tuesday, McGregor and Netflix announced a documentary that will follow McGregor’s challenge of returning to the octagon. The UFC star hasn’t been seen inside the cage since that horrific injury. However, the time is swiftly coming for the return of the Irish star. McGregor has been filming the latest season of The Ultimate Fighter. The Notorious one is coaching opposite Michael Chandler for the latest season. After the airing of the season, Chandler will welcome McGregor back to the UFC.

Conor McGregor Ready For Return

No MMA star has attracted a fanbase like McGregor. The former UFC champion brings an audience every time he steps into the cage. McGregor has been a part of some of the biggest moments in UFC history. Including his swift knockout of Jose Aldo back in 2015. The victory marked the first time McGregor would hold gold inside the octagon. But it wouldn’t be the last time. McGregor’s legacy has already been written. The Irish star is a surefire Hall-of-Famer. However, the comeback isn’t necessarily all about legacy. A fighter wants to prove they still have what it takes to step into the ring and face an opponent. The documentary is set to drop on May 17th on Netflix. McGregor wasn’t finished with thoughts on the situation. Saving those children’s lives.” The situation isn’t something that any family should have to go through. While many have their answers on how to solve the issue, McGregor believes in stronger security.

Conor McGregor Continues To Show Off His New Physique

Conor McGregor is someone we have not seen in the Octagon for quite some time now. His last time in a UFC event was a complete disaster as he broke his ankle in a gruesome fashion. Overall, it was a pretty embarrassing ordeal that has had fans questioning the future of his career. However, McGregor has remained confident about returning to the UFC. In fact, he is now a coach on the latest season of The Ultimate Fighter. Subsequently, this will lead to a fight against Michael Chandler, and fans are very excited.

Interestingly, no one knows what division this fight will be held under. This is because McGregor has put on a ton of muscle throughout his recovery. Although McGregor is not used to fighting at a higher weight, there is a chance that we could see a massive weight class jump for the star. That ultimately depends on Michael Chandler, who also gets a say in all of this. Either way, fans are just interested to see what McGregor can do at this stage of his career.

Conor McGregor On The Gram

As it turns out, McGregor is certainly feeling himself right now. In his latest Instagram post, McGregor made sure to show people what his upper body looks like these days. Overall, his arms are much bigger than they used to be, and his chest area isn’t the lean McGregor we are used to. Furthermore, McGregor’s confidence is off the charts as he offered the caption “I smell so good you moan a little if I hug you.” One has to wonder what fragrance he wears for him to think he’s getting that kind of reaction out of people.

In terms of his upcoming return to the Octagon, there is no doubt that he will attract a ton of attention. McGregor knows how to promote a fight, and this is going to prove to be a whole lot of fun. Whether or not he can still win decisively, remains to be seen. Let us know what you think of McGregor’s chances, in the comments below. Conor McGregor Gets NSFW On Fox News

Conor McGregor is certainly one of the most entertaining people when it comes to the fighting world. Although his actions and words have gotten him into trouble, he still continues to be himself. Overall, fans just want to see him back in the octagon. He will be fighting Michael Chandler soon, however, the UFC is trying to get the logistics down first. It will be a huge fight for McGregor, who desperately needs to get back in the win column, and fast.

In the interim, McGregor has been working on his charitable efforts. McGregor is someone who likes to give back, and there are a whole host of charities that he is interested in. One of these charities is Tunnels to Towers. For those who don’t know, this is a charity that donates to families of emergency workers who die while performing their job. It was created by Frank Siller, whose brother Stephen passed away while trying to save people on 9/11. Last night, McGregor was presenting Siller with a $1 million donation, and he did so while on Hannity.

Conor McGregor Apologizes

Overall, it was a fun appearance that certainly had the FCC ready to issue out some fines. In the clip above, McGregor had the Fox News censors working overtime as he dropped an f-bomb while speaking to Siller. “Frank, I’m honored to support you,” McGregor began. I wanted to say, your brother Stephen is a f***ing — excuse me, is a hero. He’s a hero. You’re a hero.” McGregor subsequently apologized, although Siller and Hannity didn’t seem to care all that much. After all, Fox News doesn’t exactly care too much for censorship, especially as it pertains to their own network.

As TMZ reports, McGregor has already donated a whole lot to this organization. In fact, he has raised about $3.7 million since the start of his career. Needless to say, this is a cause that is near and dear to his heart. Moving forward, we hope to see McGregor excelling in the octagon. If he does not win this upcoming fight against Chandler, then his career may be over. Stay tuned to HNHH for more news and updates from around the sports world.

Unfortunately, McGregor’s comeback hopes could have been dashed earlier this morning. According to the UFC star on Instagram, he was hit by a car while on a bike ride. Thankfully, he was able to escape without any big injuries. However, he noted that he could have died.

“Got a bang of a car just now from behind. A sun trap, the driver couldn’t see me. Full speed straight thru me,” McGregor wrote. “Thank you God, it wasn’t my time. Thank you wrestling and judo also. Having an awareness on the landing saved my life.”

Based on the videos, it seems like the man who hit him stopped the car and offered some aid. In fact, McGregor was seen in the front seat of the car as his bike was being transported. Overall, everyone seems to be doing just fine, albeit a bit shaken up by everything that transpired.
