The Weeknd To Follow “Hurry Up Tomorrow” Release With One-Night-Only Rose Bowl Performance

It’s a big day for fans of The Weeknd, as the hitmaker recently made yet another exciting announcement. In a new post on X, he revealed that he’ll be performing at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, California on January 25, 2025. According to a press release, the one-night-only show is set to feature “never-before-seen production,” and include a stage that “will take over the entire floor of the stadium, for a must-see in-the-round experience.” Ticket sales are scheduled to begin on December 2 at 10 a.m. PT.

This is far from the only big news about The Weeknd supporters have gotten today, however. Just ahead of this announcement, he confirmed the release date for his eagerly anticipated upcoming album, Hurry Up Tomorrow. The project is slated for release on January 24, just a day before the one-night-only show.

The Weeknd To Perform Following Hurry Up Tomorrow Release

The album will be accompanied by a film of the same name, starring The Weeknd, Jenna Ortega, and Barry Keoghan. It will follow the first two installments of his latest trilogy, 2020’s After Hours and 2022’s Dawn FM. It will also follow various singles including “Dancing In The Flames,” “Timeless” featuring Playboi Carti, and “São Paulo” featuring Anitta.

Hurry Up Tomorrow could also reportedly be the last album The Weeknd releases under his stage name. During an interview with W Magazine last year, he teased the idea of ditching the moniker in favor of his real name. “It’s getting to a place and a time where I’m getting ready to close the Weeknd chapter. I’ll still make music, maybe as Abel, maybe as The Weeknd. But I still want to kill The Weeknd. And I will. Eventually. I’m definitely trying to shed that skin and be reborn,” he explained at the time. “The album I’m working on now is probably my last hurrah as The Weeknd. This is something that I have to do. As The Weeknd, I’ve said everything I can say.”

Travis Scott And Playboi Carti Tease “OOCactus” Concert With New Snippet

Travis Scott and Playboi Carti have devoted fanbases. Seriously, fans love these two artists. They are among the most revered names in the genre, mainly due to the ways in which they experiment with it. And pretty soon, fans will get a chance to witness their shared experimentation in a concert setting. On August 7, Travis Scott and Playboi Carti announced that they will be putting on concerts at the upcoming ComplexCon. Branded “OOCactus,” the concerts will take place on November 16-17, 2024.

Travis Scott and Playboi Carti have appeared on the same bill multiple times in the past. Both of them were at Rolling Loud Europe in July, and Carti joined Scott for a L.A. performance as recently as 2023. The two artists have a kinship, which is what makes their joint announcement all the more exciting. The fun didn’t stop there, though. Scott and Carti decided to tease a snippet of a brand new song minutes after the joint concerts were revealed. The snippet doesn’t have a title, but the snippet is everything fans could want. Lush synths carry the first portion of the snippet, before thundering drums kick in and Travis Scott can be heard vocally riffing.

Travis Scott And Playboi Carti Previewed A New Collab

Travis Scott and Playboi Carti have a storied track record together. The former appeared on “Love Hurts” from Carti’s breakthrough tape, Die Lit, as well as “Green and Purple” and “BACKR00MS. ” Playboi Carti has returned the favor by dropping memorable bars on Scott’s “FE!N.” The “00Cactus” concerts are also an encouraging sign for those who have spent years waiting on Carti’s third studio album. The rapper has been teasing the release of the tentatively titled MUSIC since 2021. There have been dozens of snippets and teaser singles, including the aforementioned “BACKR00MS” with Scott.

Cardo, a frequent Carti collaborator, confirmed that the album is coming soon. The producer claimed that he was putting the finishing touches on it after nearly four years of work. “Me and him have been working on this album for a good four years,” he said in July. “[I’m] gaining some kind of different kind of energy and inspiration from what he’s doing. Seeing what levels he’s going on. That’s how we’re creating all these fun records.” Hopefully fans get to hear new Carti and Travis Scott music at ComplexCon.

Megan Thee Stallion’s First 2023 Concert Taking Place In Houston This March

Some artists have already begun showing out in the first quarter of the year, dropping off singles and full-length projects to entertain audiences and show off for the competition. Megan Thee Stallion, on the other hand, has kept mostly quiet since the ending of Tory Lanez’s tumultuous trial. It ultimately concluded with the Canadian being found guilty of previously shooting her in the foot. While winning against the father of one certainly felt good, the Texas-born artist has been keeping any celebrations lowkey as defence lawyers attempt to free her assailant.

As per Uproxx, the “Hot Girl Summer” hitmaker has finally announced that she’s ready for a comeback. On Friday (March 10), it was revealed that she’ll be taking to the stage in her hometown later this month. She’ll be at the AT&T Block Party, which takes place from March 31st through April 2nd in Houston’s Discovery Green park. It’s scheduled to unfold at the same time as the Men’s Final Four weekend.

Megan’s Music Comeback

In a statement, Thee Stallion expressed her excitement over booking shows once again. “There’s no place I’d rather be for my first performance of the year than my hometown of Houston,” she gushed. “The AT&T Block Party Concert is gonna be such a vibe. I can’t wait to get back on stage in the city where it all began. I’m looking forward to seeing my Hotties and putting on an unforgettable show for them.”

Other names on the setlist include Lil Nas X, Maggie Rogers, and Mickey Guyton. Those acts are due to perform after Megan’s show, on the second and third days. It’s been noted that the 28-year-old’s last performance in her hometown dates back to 2019’s Astroworld Festival. This took place shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic shut most of the world down. The Houston hotties are surely grateful for their coach’s long-awaited return to the stage in the Lone Star state.

Future Endeavours for Thee Stallion

News of her return to the stage certainly has the internet buzzing, but it’s got nothing on the intrigue surrounding Megan Thee Stallion and Cardi B’s reported B.A.P.S remake. Director Robert Townsend confirmed earlier this month that the “WAP” collaborators are among those who have asked to be cast in the project. Of course, nothing is official just yet, but many would love to see the two rap divas further their acting skills alongside each other. Read more about that here, and make sure to check back later for more hip-hop news updates.
