Singer Pink Rank’s ‘Lady Marmalade’ Her Least Favorite Video: It Wasn’t Fun To Make, Kim Was Nice

Singer, Pink ranked her 12 favorite music videos for BuzzFeed UK and placed “Lady Marmalade” featuring Christina Aguilera, Lil’ Kim and Mýa last. When asked why, she said, “It wasn’t very fun to make. I’m all about fun and it was like, a lot of fuss, and there were some personalities…Kim and Mýa were nice.”

She added, “I guess it is iconic, but I remember I kept crying because my skin didn’t like the makeup. It was just…There was some annoying things happening that day.”

Pink has previously addressed past tensions with Christina that erupted over the recording of “Lady Marmalade.” In a 2009 VH1 Behind the Music special, Pink said, “[Record executive] Ron Fair walked in. He didn’t say hi to any of us and said, ‘What’s the high part? What’s the most singing part? Christina’s going to take that part.’”

Pink continued, “I stood up, and I said, ‘Hi. How are you? So nice of you to introduce yourself. I’m Pink. She will not be taking that part. I think that’s what the f–king meeting’s about.’ “
The two singers eventually put their differences aside and even worked together again. In 2017, Pink tweeted, “I [love] Xtina, we’ve made amends,” and also said on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen that she and Christina made up while filming The Voice the previous year.

Pink also told host Andy Cohen that their feud once turned physical, saying Christina once swung on her at a club and that it was “hilarious.” In 2019, during her own appearance on WWHL, the “What a Girl Wants” singer responded to the accusation.

“Look at her and look at me,” she told Andy. “I wouldn’t swing on her. She’s like, she’s like, you know, she can beat my ass. Are you kidding me? She could really beat my ass then.”

Christina also spoke about the origin of their feud. “I know she had some, you know, feelings or whatever about how the recording of ‘Lady Marmalade’ went down and all that,” she said, “and I know the actual video, she intimidated me, because she was a little heckling me in the audience, a little bit behind the director and I was like, ‘Oh, what’s going on?’”

Christina continued, “That’s what she did back then. But she’s like, you know, she’s a different person now—she’s a mom, she’s like, she’s cool.”

Madonna’s 2003 VMAs Kiss Should’ve Been With Jennifer Lopez & Britney Spears, Not Christina Aguilera

The MTV Video Music Awards have hosted some questionable moments on their stage over the years. Of course, many of them love on in pop culture infamy – particularly Madonna’s makeout session with Britney Spears at the 2003 ceremony.

As Daily Mail notes, the evening was full of entertainment. The Mississippi-born pop star rose from a wedding cake to sing “Like a Virgin,” the same way the original vocalist did back in 1984.

Afterward, Spears had Christina Aguilera join her so they could sing together. Before long, Madonna was beside them, launching into her track, “Hollywood.” While she was commanding the audience, the Queen of Pop took the world by surprise as she leaned over to smooch the “Womanizer” singer.

The moment still sparks conversation two decades later. What many people don’t know, though, is that another kiss happened on stage that night. When the cameras cut to broadcast Justin Timberlake’s reaction to his ex locking lips with an older woman, Madonna and Aguilera were having an intimate moment of their own.

In a 2018 interview, the “Dirrty” songstress recalled her disappointment after the big moment failed to make an impact. “I definitely saw the newspaper the next day and it was like, ‘Oh, well, I guess I got left out of that,” she said at the time.

Interestingly, it’s now been confirmed that Aguilera almost wasn’t invited on stage at all. In fact, it was Jennifer Lopez who was first asked to perform with Spears and Madonna at the VMAs.

During a recent chat with E! News, the Hustlers actress explained what caused her to miss out on the momentous occasion. “I was filming a movie in Canada and I met with Madonna and Britney,” she began.

“And I couldn’t get off the film, so they got Christina to do it. I’m a huge fan of Madonna, I always have been,” Lopez later added.

It remains unclear if we’ll ever see the moment recreated with the original trio, though the blonde bombshells did share a smooch at Spears’ wedding to Sam Asghari. Read more about that here, and check back later for more pop culture news updates.

Bad Bunny Owned The 2022 ‘Billboard’ Latin Music Awards With The Most Wins Of The Night

Bad Bunny was the big winner last night (September 29) at the Billboard Latin Music Awards. The Puerto Rican superstar won the most awards of the night followed by Farruko and Karol G.

Bad Bunny was the most-nominated artist at this year’s Billboard Latin Music Awards. He received 23 nominations across 13 categories for his chart-topping album Un Verano Sin Ti. Though he wasn’t in attendance last night, he ended up winning nine awards, including Artist Of The Year, Tour Of The Year, and Top Latin Album Of The Year.

Puerto Rican singer Farruko followed Bad Bunny with four wins. He scored a big hit last year with the guaracha-infused “Pepas.” Farruko’s wins included Hot Latin Song Of The Year and Sales Song Of The Year. Colombian superstar Karol G won three awards, including Hot Latin Songs Artist Of The Year — Female and Top Latin Albums Artist Of the Year — Female.

Among the memorable performances, Colombian singer Manuel Turizo sang his global top 10 hit “La Bachata.” Earlier this month, Coldplay invited him to sing the song at their concert in Bogotá, Colombia. Turizo serenaded the audience with a sweet performance of his heartbreak anthem.

After being honored with the Spirit Of Hope Award for her philanthropic work, Christina Aguilera sang her ranchera ballad “La Reina” for the first time. She sounded incredible as she tapped into the song’s empowering message that a king isn’t a king without his queen. The performance comes on the heels of her new EP La Luz dropping today with the song “No Es Que Te Extrañe” that might be about her estranged father.

The most unique performance of the night belonged to Puerto Rican singer Elvis Crespo. Bad Bunny pulled inspiration from Crespo’s music video for “Suavemente” for his own retro video for “Neverita.” Crespo paid homage to Bad Bunny by performing “Neverita” in a special medley with “Suavemente.”

The Hollywood Bowl’s 2021 Summer Lineup Includes Two Nights Of Christina Aguilera

It’s been a tough year for some of the nation’s most beloved venues. The onset of the pandemic and subsequent quarantine meant staying away from massive gatherings like crowds at The Forum or the Staples Center was the safe choice, with plenty of canceled tours in the wake, and seeing those musical monuments sit empty has been hard on everyone. Now, there’s light on the horizon, as one of LA’s biggest and best arenas is ready to re-open its doors.

That’s right, the Hollywood Bowl has officially announced their 2021 lineup, and it includes some surprising and unexpected names. For instance, I highly doubt most Stripped diehards had not one but two nights of Christina Aguilera headlining the bowl on their 2021 bingo card, but that’s what we’ve got coming up in July. There’s also big appearances from Kamasi Washington, Earl Sweatshirt, H.E.R., Brittany Howard, Jamila Woods, Herbie Hancock, and a whole lot more.
