Lil Reese Goes In-Depth On 2021 Chicago Shooting

Lil Reese has been through a tremendous amount of adversity throughout his career. Overall, he has gotten into numerous beefs all while being part of the Chicago drill movement’s developing stages. Although he may not get mainstream attention, he is an artist who is loved by his fans. If you are a fan of Reese, then you know some of the close brushes he has had with death. He was the victim of a shooting in 2019, and subsequently, he was in another shooting back in 2021.

During the 2021 shooting, Reese was filmed with blood leaking from his face. It was very gruesome, and many feared for his life. Reports indicated that Reese had been tracked down in a stolen Dodge Durango and a fight ensued. This subsequently led to him being shot. However, Reese was on No Jumper where he refuted some of the details of the shooting. As you will see, he claims the car was never stolen. Instead, he just had the same car as the men who shot at him. Additionally, he spoke on how a cop slammed him to the ground which made him appear bloodier than he should have been.

Lil Reese Tells All

“They was shootin’ from five lanes over,” Lil Reese Revealed. “It’s goofy shit. They was five lanes over, shootin’ at my car, thinkin’ I was somebody else. Somebody else had the same car as me, and they just did a video in the car, so they thought my car was his car, and they shot my car up.” It is a harrowing story, although Reese didn’t seem to mind the retelling of it.

Lil Reese Donates To The Homeless Amid Water-Pouring Scandal

Recently, Lil Reese got himself into some trouble with fans for a clip he posted on his Instagram Story. In the clip, he films as a friend pours his drink onto a homeless man’s head. “Get his a*s, get his a*s,” one man is heard shouting. “Put that b*tch on his head, put that b*tch on his head. F*ck him!”

Social media users were outraged by the senseless act of cruelty, and Lil Reese has since owned up to his mistake. “I would like to apologize to my fans and everybody watching for recording and laughing while they were pouring water on the homeless man in the video,” he wrote today. “I do not condone or support that type of behavior in [any way].” He then went on to reveal plans to donate to the homeless to make up for the incident. “I will be giving away money to the homeless community as well as giving away food, clothes, and water,” he explained, “twice a month going forward.”

Many social media users weren’t buying the apology, claiming that he instead owed one to the homeless man from the video. Others questioned whether or not he’d actually be donating to the homeless, calling for him to show proof. Now, Lil Reese has come through with the highly-requested proof that he’s helping his community. In a new clip, the Chicago-born performer is seen passing out money to those in need in his home city.

Unfortunately, It appears as though Lil Reese still can’t escape criticism. Various commenters suggest that he only chose to donate because of the backlash, and wouldn’t have otherwise. With that being said, he was still able to provide help to several people that appeared to appreciate it, which is what’s most important at this point. 600Breezy Roasts King Yella, Has No Interest In Squashing Beef

King Yella recently took to social media, claiming that he’d be willing to work out his differences with 600Breezy, and finally squash their beef. He explained that their reconciliation could even make a difference in their home city of Chicago. “AS A GROWN MAN IM WILLING TO SIT DOWN WIT @600breezy and settle out differences like men,” he wrote. “To make change for Chicago but more important the world and the youth.”

Unfortunately, it looks like 600Breezy doesn’t have any interest in doing so. He responded, letting the rapper know. He threw some jabs in the mix, making it clear that he doesn’t think resolving their feud could make a change in the city. “Ay Yella, I’ma tell you one more time and it’s the last time I’ma tell you,” the artist said. “Stop messin’ with me, gang, and stop mentioning, bro.”

600Breezy Calls King Yella “A Goofy”

“Why the f*ck? What is me sitting down with your big, goofy a*s gonna do for the city of Chicago? Be for real, bro. Me and your block not even into it,” he continued. “Ya’ll steady wanna push this fake-a*s, tiddy-biddy beefin’. That’s not what the f*ck is goin’ on in the streets. We beefin’ off sets, we beefin’ off blocks. You hung with the n***as that we was beefin’ with and you wanna put yourself in it with like, stop doin’ that, gang.”

His response, however, didn’t stop there. “I’m not sittin’ down with you, you big a*s f*ckin’ thunky,” he added. “You’re a goofy, you’re a f*ckin’ goofy. You keep mentioning me, bro, stop doin’ that, gang. You don’t even be in Chicago. I be here, I be in Iraq. Like they know, I post when I’m here.” So, it’s very clear that 600Breezy wants nothing to do with King Yella. Lil Durk Sells Out United Center For A Second Time: Watch

Lil Durk is easily one of the biggest artists in Chicago right now. Overall, this success is very much deserved. He has been delivering some truly incredible albums over the past few years. Moreover, he continues to increase his profile by being featured on nearly every single big hip-hop album. On top of all of this, he has been giving back to his community in some pretty unique ways. At this point, he is having his moment in the spotlight, and his fans are very excited about where he goes from here.

Over the weekend, Lil Durk hosted two concerts in Chicago at the United Center. Unfortunately, the first night was madness due to a false call about an active shooter. This subsequently led to some merch kiosks being stolen from. Some of these clips went viral on social media, and it was a bad look for an otherwise positive and amazing performance. On Sunday night, Durk had a chance to deliver a more subdued performance, and that is exactly what happened.

According to DJ Akademiks, Lil Durk was able to sell out the entire United Center for a second night in a row. In a world where a lot of artists are struggling to sell out arenas, this is a huge accomplishment. Of course, this all took place in Durk’s hometown, which just goes to show that his people are rocking with him. Also, given the turbulent nature of Saturday’s performance, it is very cool to see people still showing up on Sunday. It is yet another example of the kind of reach Durk has right now.

Lil Durk Addresses Active Shooter And Merch Theft At Chicago Concert

Earlier today (August 13), it was reported that a Lil Durk concert at United Center in Chicago ended early due to reports of an active shooter. Videos emerged of crowds evacuating the venue, as did videos of attendees looting unattended merch stands. There was already some skepticism about the claims, with police scanner accounts claiming that arena security had already confirmed that no shots had been fired.

The situation has since been clarified. Police are now investigating as to who was responsible for the false reports of an active shooter, which caused mass panic and the premature end of the concert. No injuries have been reported and no arrests have been made. While some attendees still claim to have heard shots, no evidence to corroborate that has been found. And who all stole the merchandise – tag me so I can repost y’all crazy ass .” While Durk mentioned the merchandise theft, his response did not mention the allegations of an active shooter. While “don’t believe the hype” could refer to those stories coming out of the concert, it’s more likely that line is simply a lead-in for “we bigger than big.”

However, Durk’s call for the fans who took merchandise to make themselves known has led to several fans making an interesting connection. Durk has been linked to the murder of FBG Duck through an FBI informant. Documents relating to the case were published on Instagram over the weekend, with Durk and his brother both being mentioned by a confidential informant. Police Investigate Alleged Active Shooter At Lil Durk Concert

Police in Chicago have opened an investigation into reports of an active shooter at the United Center, where Lil Durk was supposed to perform. Details about the incident are scarce but reportedly, law enforcement responded to multiple calls about a gunman at the venue. Videos posted to social media showed fans fleeing the scene. According to the sources available at the time of writing, the gunman opened fire while Durk’s concert was in progress, causing the show to be stopped. At this time, the fate of the suspect and the number of injuries has not been reported.

As mentioned, very little information about this incident is currently available. The only sources are videos reposted by the likes of No Jumper. Additionally, there are reports that the active shooter designation was false. According to one police scanner tracker account on X/Twitter, United Center security relayed “no shots fired” to the police after the initial “shots fired” dispatch call. Meanwhile, a dispatch from on-scene SWAT officers reports numerous instances of fans brawling with one another. This begs the question – was this an active shooter situation, or a rowdy crowd that got out of control? At this time, we just don’t know.

These videos, also shared by the likes of No Jumper, have been met with widespread dismay. Many people have taken to social to slam the individuals involved for taking advantage of such a horrific situation for material gain. The footage has also led to several more racist reactions. A number of people online have called for “no more rap concerts at United Center.”

To reiterate, very little information about the situation is available right now. This is a developing story that will likely become clearer throughout the day. Remembering DJ Casper, The “Cha Cha Slide” Icon

On August 7, 2023, fans mourned the loss of iconic Chicago DJ, DJ Casper, known for his infectious hit “Cha Cha Slide.” Although this iconic song became synonymous with his legacy, its impact echoed globally. It’s impossible not to enter a fitness club, gym, or aerobics class where this song doesn’t ring out.

Casper’s health challenges became public in 2016 when he revealed he had been diagnosed with kidney and neuroendocrine cancer. In the years that followed, he fiercely fought against the illness, and by 2018, he confirmed that he was in remission before stating that he had beat cancer the following year. However, in the years leading up to his untimely passing, he continued to bring new music to fans worldwide.

Early Beginnings: Chicago’s Rising Star

Born Willie Perry Jr, DJ Casper’s story begins in Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood. The nickname DJ Casper came from his attire; he would frequently appear in clubs in all-white outfits. However, his ability to command the attention of parties with incredible grooves and rhythms transformed him into a notable figure in the city’s blossoming music scene.

Crafting The Iconic “Cha Cha Slide”

The “Cha Cha Slide” might be a global anthem but it really began as a local anthem designated for a Chicago gym. As the story goes, Casper initially created the song for his nephew’s step aerobics class at Bally Total Fitness Health Club in Hyde Park. The lyrics were written solely for his nephew’s orientation class. However, the response from these classes led to a larger demand, leading to the release of “Casper Slide Pt. 1.” The original song utilized “Plastic Dreams“ by Jaydee as the instrumental. As the song began gaining steam across Chicago, DJ Casper called on a live band to create a new instrumental. This ultimately resulted in “Casper Slide Pt 2.,” which we now know as the “Cha Cha Slide.”

How The “Cha Cha Slide” Became A Global Phenomenon

The song was distributed throughout Chicago with the help of Cisco Music World owner Gardner Douglas. However, after DJ Casper teamed up with M.O.B Music Publishing, they led the campaign for Cha-Cha Slide: The Original Slide Album. From there, he began working with Universal Records, providing him with the resources to push the song internationally.

Michael Horton, Universal Senior VP of Urban Promotion, explained to Billboard in 2003 that they began pushing the single with an instructional dance video. Homecoming events at Black colleges became central forces in boosting its popularity, especially since radio wasn’t necessarily sold on the record. In fact, Horton explained that they had a “strong dislike initially to the song.” However, once it did hit radio, it was a smash hit and eventually spread across the world, becoming a staple at weddings, parties, and events.

While Horton felt like it was a “novelty that will eventually die down,” he knew it would never disappear. DJ Casper, who also went by Mr. C The Slide Man, said that he wanted to ensure that people that his songs “are more than just being about one dance.”

Sampling Legacy: From Ludacris To Masego

Although the song remains a prominent anthem at any all-ages function, its influence undoubtedly seeped into hip-hop. Ludacris’ interpolated the lyrics on “Area Codes” ft. Nate Dogg while Insane Clown Posse remixed the tune for “Chop Chop Slide.” Most recently, Masego flipped the record for “Black Anime” from his latest self-titled album.

G Herbo Cracks Awkward Grin In Latest Mugshot

It appears that G Herbo could’ve easily avoided last week’s arrest. Per TMZ, Chicago police confirmed that they pulled over the rapper over a simple traffic infraction that led to a gun charge. Chicago PD said the rapper failed to signal when turning on July 9th before they discovered a Glock 33 in his vehicle. However, the rapper didn’t spend too much time in jail, later bonding out for an undisclosed amount. Still, he’ll have to return to court later to fight the charges.

Additionally, G Herbo’s mugshot surfaced online a few days after he bonded out. The rapper’s picture seems rather confusing as he cracks a grin of sorts in the camera. It’s hard to tell what his emotions are but he’s certainly expressive. At this point, there isn’t a confirmation on when he’s supposed to return to jail. The rapper was charged with misdemeanor unlawful use of a weapon. Police reportedly discovered 300 grams of cannabis but the rapper won’t face charges for that.

Unfortunately, G Herbo’s latest run-in with the law only piles on to his legal trouble. The rapper is currently dealing with a fraud case related to his December 2020 arrest. Herbo and four others were indicted on 14 charges including wire fraud and aggravated identity theft. Authorities claimed that the four individuals used stolen identities to make luxury purchases including vacations and private jets. Police claimed that G Herbo and his co-conspirators used fraudulent identification and credit card to rent out a villa in Jamaica and purchase designer puppies.

Regardless of the trouble in Herbo’s personal life, he’s still dishing out plenty of heat these days. In April, the rapper came through with his latest project, Strictly 4 My Fans II and delivered several stand-out verses. Along with features alongside Tee Grizzley and NLE Choppa, he also appeared on King Von’s latest posthumous album, Grandson, on the song, “Real Oppy.” Hopefully, we’ll hear more from G Herbo throughout the summer. “We all talk about support, and support looks different for everyone,” Wade said to ESPN. “And so instead of tweeting out and saying ‘go support the W,’ instead of showing up at the game and supporting, I wanted to take it to that next level, and this was the next level for me.

“It’s a great opportunity to be a part of the league in its very early stages. … Growth is going to happen, and so I want to be a part of the growth of this league.”

Wade’s percentage has yet to be disclosed and is subject to the WNBA Board of Governors.

“This is meaningful for the players, and this is meaningful for the city as a whole,” Sky co-owner and operating chairman Nadia Rawlinson said. “Dwyane Wade is a son of Chicago. And the thing that differentiates us, I think, from other franchises is that we are Chicago. We are the future of Chicago. We are the culture of Chicago. We are in it and of it, and he is very much sort of a main character in that story. And we’re just pleased and thrilled at what the future can bring with both of us working together.”
