“Check” By Young Thug Turns 9: It’s Still An Essential Trap Cut

If there is a big three in terms of trap music and/or Southern hip-hop, Young Thug is more than worthy to enter those discussions. The Atlanta, Georgia native is a living legend now, but early on his career, his style was seen as avant-garde. His unconventional cadence and experimental approach to the subgenre turned a lot of people off, especially hip-hop purists. It took some time, but fans started to come around to his artistry and he grown to be one of most influential names we have going today. Part of the reason for that is because of songs from Young Thug like “Check.”

Barter 6, Thug’s debut solo mixtape under 300 Entertainment, officially turns nine years old today and we thought it would be fun to take a journey to the past. However, this song certainly does not sound like it belongs there. Due to the simplicity of the beat from London On Da Track, “Check” still feels as if the record dropped this year. Everything just clicks, especially Thugger, who has one of his more iconic intros to any song in his career.

On top of that, he flows like a hot knife through butter over the woozy, slow-mo bass and 808s, as well the chunky kick drums. This also set up a great working relationship between Thug and London. They would go on to make “Lifestyle,” “With That” (on the same project), “Digits,” “Memo,” and so many countless classics. Be sure to relisten to “Check” by Thug and its iconic music video above.

Quotable Lyrics:

I can see that bulls*** from a mile away (See it)
You can stack my money ’bout a mile away (Stack it)
I got three white b****es like it’s powder day (White)
Mink coat with the rolls like a Shar Pei
And all of my b****es sexy, call them Barbies (Sexy)
She lookin’ back like I’m flexin’, baby, no way (Uh-uh)

Nicki Minaj Loses Twitter Verification, Cardi B Doesn’t

A lot of celebrities have been going crazy over losing their blue checkmarks or ticks on Twitter, which Elon Musk is doing to get more people to pay for verification. Nicki Minaj, however, isn’t phased when it comes to losing her Twitter verification. Moreover, she actually responded to a fan teasing her about in on the social media platform. “@NICKIMINAJ get the verification badge I keep thinking you’re a troll account,” they wrote. “I am,” she clapped back with a GIF of Dr. Evil laughing maniacally. In addition, a lot of fans noticed that Cardi B didn’t lose her verification.

Furthermore, Elon Musk said that he’s personally paying for a few celebrities to keep their verification without paying. These include LeBron James, Stephen King, and William Shatner, although he didn’t mention the “WAP” star. As such, it’s unclear whether Cardi B is paying for verification or if the tech just hasn’t caught up to her account. Not only that, but TMZ reported that celebrities like The Weeknd and Taylor Swift are paying for their verification.

Nicki Minaj Responds, Doesn’t Mention Cardi B Keeping Twitter Verification

Of course, the difference between Nicki Minaj and Cardi’s Twitter accounts is notable because of their beef. Still, at least Nicki didn’t make too much of a fuss about it. For example, The Game was one of many artists to blast this new move from Musk as a blatant attempt to give the illusion of authenticity for money. “If you bought your verification and I know you personally, delete my number,” the rapper posted on his Instagram Story. “It tells me everything I need to know about you. You a broke cheater- we are not the same.”

Meanwhile, other stars gave similarly cheeky answers to Nicki Minaj’s, but still contained some shade. Doja Cat reacted with trademark sass on Twitter, which is just one example of this phenomenon. “Having a blue tick now means theres a higher chance that you’re a complete loser and that you’re desperate for validation from famous people,” she tweeted. While Cardi hasn’t said anything about keeping her verification, this is sure to send her fanbase into war with Nicki’s. Regardless, stick around on HNHH for the latest news and updates on Nicki Minaj and Cardi B.

Bandman Kevo Wants A “Big Check” For Inspiring Men To Get Lipo

Bandman Kevo is looking for more credit for inspiring other men to get liposuction surgery- and he wants that recognition written on a fat check. Moreover, the Chicago MC made headlines for undergoing lipo and flaunting his new body afterwards. Now, he claimed that he led about 1.3 million men to do the same, and took to Twitter to flex his alleged influence. Of course, these seem like tough numbers to crunch, as “Bandman Kevo” can’t be a common option to choose from when doctors ask how a client found out about them. Still, he seems confident in him being the reason for so many to get surgery.

“They laughed about me getting lipo and acted like nobody would do it,” the 32-year-old expressed. “Well where the hell did 1.3 million people come from after people knew I did it. These doctors need to come with a big check.” Not only that, but he said on Instagram Live that he wants to open his own wellness center one day. Weeks later on DJ Akademiks’ Off The Record podcast, he explained that he got lipo because he kept getting cheated on.

Bandman Kevo Wants Credit & Money For Inspiring Others To Get Lipo

“I got cheated on a lot,” Kevo remarked to the media personality. “[With] a lot of guys with better bodies. Just to be honest, I don’t even care. It didn’t make me feel bad. I understand. I don’t know what type of women you like. But when we look at the women we like, we usually like a nice set of t***ies and a nice a**, a flat stomach; we don’t want nothing weird. Women are the same way. We gotta be honest with ourselves.” Also, he said that the men that girls cheated on him with didn’t have the money he has. What’s more is that this isn’t the only check that the Bandman is demanding.

“I paid gunna last year for a feature 250k,” he wrote on Twitter. “And months later he got a caught case which put my feature and everything else got put on hold , just for him to get released and snitch. I can’t do a song with dude I need my bread back asap. And if they cap im going big lawsuit.” For more news on Bandman Kevo and his money moves and influence, come back to HNHH.
