DJ Drama Seeks Longevity With Fabolous, Benny The Butcher, Jim Jones, And Capella Grey On ‘Forever’

For the past few years, DJ Drama’s work has come through supporting another artist. Most recently, he served as a host on Tyler The Creator’s sixth album Call Me If You Get Lost which was modeled after Drama’s Gangsta Grillz mixtape series. The project went on to win Best Rap Album at the 2022 Grammy Awards, giving Drama his first Grammy. Elsewhere, Drama helped bring the careers of Jack Harlow and Lil Uzi Vert to new heights as both artists are signed to Drama’s Generation Now label which was co-founded with Don Cannon.

Prior to the aforementioned instances, there was a point when DJ Drama was releasing his own albums as the last one, Quality Street Music 2, arrived back in 2016. It appears that Drama might have a new body of work on the way as he returns with “Forever” alongside Fabolous, Benny The Butcher, Jim Jones, and Capella Grey. The records speak about establishing longevity in their careers, and this gets accomplished through verses from Fabolous, Benny, and Jim while Capella took care of the song’s hook.

The record also stands as Drama’s first single as a lead artist since 2019’s “Nasty” with Moneybagg Yo and Pnb Rock.

Originally released as an impromptu live performance on Chlöe’s social media, the video quickly garnered over 3 million views and became an viral hit with celebrities such as Tracee Ellis Ross, SZA, Fivio Foreign and more all demanding an official version be released.

The rich melodies and playful energy of “Gyalis” have made this song synonymous with the summer. “Gyalis” explores Capella’s player side and Chlöe matches that energy, offering her own risqué bars over the instrumental that samples Juvenile’s iconic “Back That Azz Up.”

Chloe Lends A Sultry Verse To A ‘Shemix’ Of Capella Grey’s ‘Gyalis’

Over the past year, New York singer Capella Grey’s 2021 single “Gyalis” has become a slow-burning, fan-favorite hit, rising to No. 38 on the Billboard Hot 100 and receiving a Gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

It doesn’t look like the song will run out of gas anytime soon; after rising star Chloe offered her own take on the song for Instagram, today, Grey officially added her verse to a sultry “shemix” of the hit single, adding a feminine perspective to Grey’s indecisive single.

Responding to the wishy-washy vibe of the song’s original verse, Chloe flips the script, noting that she too has plenty of options when it comes to romance. Rather than putting up with a reluctant, possibly unfaithful paramour, she dismisses his affections to return to the streets. “I ain’t the bitch that you can lie to,” she asserts. “I ain’t the bitch you gonna cry to.”

Chloe’s covers have been one of the main drivers behind her rise to solo stardom, as she takes on versions of songs like Kanye West’s “24,” Minnie Riperton’s “Loving You,” and more. When she’s not performing covers, she has been using her social media to preview new songs from her upcoming solo debut album, Chloe.

Capella Grey Announces His Upcoming Single ‘OT’ Featuring Ty Dolla Sign

Capella Grey seems to only know how to elevate. The Bronx artist burst onto the scene in 2021 with the track “Gyalis,” forcing his way into the conversation for song of the summer, if not the year; It bubbled outwardly from just being a New York bop to a worldwide smash. As a result, he found himself in the studio with many greats on the artist and production side. While fans have been patiently, or impatiently, awaiting his next move, he announced today on Instagram that he has a record coming called “OT” featuring Ty Dolla Sign.

A moving graphic of the two artists and a quick trailer accompanies the announcement, as Grey sits with his lady to watch a movie before Ty calls him to ask where he is. The two are on opposite coasts, but it sounds like the “Psycho” artist is trying to convince the 26-year-old to come out west. The trailer closes with Capella singing ,”Why would I take a shorty OT,” meaning “out of town,” which makes it very clear what his intentions would be on that trip.

Capella is no stranger to big collaborations, as “OT” will follow the March record “Confujawn” featuring Grammy-winning songwriter and artist Nija. In 2021, “Gyalis” was remixed by Chris Brown, Popcaan, and a slew of other artists. Most recently, Chloe Bailey tried her hand at a “Gyalis” cover.

Chloe Shows Off Her Vocals And Presents A New Point Of View In Her Cover Of Capella Grey’s ‘Gyalis’

In addition to making her solo debut with the bouncy “Have Mercy,” Chloe Bailey’s 2021 year was filled with impressive covers of songs by a wide array of artists. She took on Adele’s “Easy On Me,” Silk Sonic’s “Leave The Door Open,” Cardi B’s “Be Careful, Rihanna’s “Love On The Brain,” Nina Simone’s “Feeling Good,” and Drake’s “Marvin’s Room.” Fresh off releasing her second single as a solo artist, that being the provocative “Treat Me,” Chloe has found time to treat her fans to another cover. This time she takes on Capella Grey’s 2021 summer hit “Gyalis.”

Chloe’s rendition of “Gyalis” is a bit more than a cover and she remixes the song a bit so that it can be sung from a female’s point of view. While the original song’s lyrics read, “Fake like she asleep / Swear she tried to stay the whole week / I’m like “Oh, nah, she gotta go”, uh / Ask me her name, I swear I don’t even f*ckin’ know,” Chloe gives her side in the matter on the cover.

“He’s tryna fake like he asleep / Thought I didn’t hear him come in, please,” Chloe sings. “I’m like, ‘Oh nah, he gotta go’ / See you again? Oh no, baby that’s not what I want.”

Capella Grey showed love towards Chloe’s cover of “Gyalis” by reposting the video on his own Instagram page.

Capella Grey And Nija Want No ‘Confujawn’ Through Romance In Their Flirtatious New Video

After finding success as songwriters, Capella Grey and Nija are both shining as artists. Grey had a breakout year in 2021 with his “Gyalis” single while Nija just released her debut project Don’t Say I Didn’t Warn You. They both have yet to reach their full potential, but on their journey towards doing so, Grey and Nija bring their talents together for their new single, “Confujawn.”

The track, which is a play on the word “confusion,” is about a couple who can’t seem to get on the same page about each other. Whether it be hiding their true feelings or entertaining other people, Grey and Nija both express that things between them need to be crystal clear and exclusive for a relationship to work. The duo also released a music video to accompany their new single. In it, Grey is at a party with friends and a woman when he sees Nija appear with a man. After eyeing each other spitefully for the first half of the video, the pair puts their pride aside and reconnects in the middle of the dancefloor to resume their romantic endeavors.

The new visual arrives after Grey concluded 2021 with his “Talk Nice,” a record that proved to be a strong follow-up to “Gyalis.” As for Nija’s Don’t Say I Didn’t Warn You project, it’s a strong effort that checks in at ten songs without a guest feature.
