“Breaking Bad” Stars: Where Are They Now?

Breaking Bad, masterminded by Vince Gilligan and running for five seasons from 2008 to 2013, is arguably one of the best television series from start to finish, largely due to an all-star cast of characters like Aaron Paul and Bob Odenkirk. Ranking among the greatest TV shows of all time, Breaking Bad won 16 Emmy Awards and six Critics Choice Television Awards. It was named the most critically acclaimed show ever by Guinness World Records in 2013—the same year its devastating series finale aired. The ground-breaking AMC production chronicled Walter White’s descent from a mild-mannered high school chemistry teacher to a murderous drug kingpin after he devised a plan to cook methamphetamine following a cancer diagnosis.

The show shattered TV tropes by presenting a protagonist who significantly evolved, catching viewers off-guard as Bryan Cranston, previously known for comedic roles like the Seinfeld dentist and Malcolm in the Middle dad, delivered an Emmy-winning dramatic performance as the doomed Walter White. The show’s success spawned the 2019 movie El Camino and the spin-off series Better Call Saul (2015-2022), reuniting fans with the beloved characters in a 2023 Super Bowl commercial. With the series’ spectacular run presenting further opportunities, here’s what Cranston and the rest of the Breaking Bad stars have been up to, from maintaining friendships to winning Tony awards and running breweries.

After his iconic, Emmy-winning performance as Walter White on Breaking Bad, Bryan Cranston capitalized on newfound dramatic opportunities. He won a Tony Award for portraying President Lyndon B. Johnson in the Broadway play All the Way, which he later reprised for an HBO movie. Cranston landed major film roles, including an Oscar-nominated turn as Dalton Trumbo in Trumbo, as well as parts in Godzilla, Wakefield, and Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City. He returned to his Breaking Bad role in the 2019 film El Camino and the final season of Better Call Saul. Cranston also won a second Tony for the Network Broadway adaptation in 2018. Beyond acting, he launched a mezcal brand, Dos Hombres, with Breaking Bad co-star Aaron Paul. Most recently, Cranston has been an outspoken advocate for entertainment workers during the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike.

Paul has taken on diverse roles, voicing Todd Chavez in BoJack Horseman, starring in the Black Mirror episode “Beyond the Sea,” appearing in films like Need for Speed and Central Intelligence, and playing lead roles in series like The Path, Westworld, and Truth Be Told. Off-screen, he launched the mezcal brand Dos Hombres with Breaking Bad co-star Bryan Cranston, whom he calls a mentor and close friend. After the show’s run, Gunn has kept busy with roles across TV, film, and theater. She had recurring roles on shows like Gracepoint, Shades of Blue, Deadwood, and Physical and starred in the Roku miniseries Most Dangerous Game. Her film credits include Sully, Equity, and The Apology. Gunn also starred in the 2022 audio play Numbered Days and previously took to the stage for the David Schwimmer-directed Sex With Strangers. While the Breaking Bad star’s character proved divisive, Gunn’s talents have been showcased through an array of diverse post-Breaking Bad projects.

Beyond acting, Mitte has modeled for Gap, walked at Milan Fashion Week, and serves as an advocate for disability representation. He has expressed gratitude for the pivotal opportunity Breaking Bad provided, telling the Independent, “None of my projects would exist without that show.” Mitte continues using his platform to inspire others with disabilities through his performances and activism.

She reprised the character on Better Call Saul and has remained active in television, having starred in the sitcoms Life in Pieces for four seasons and The Michael J. Fox Show, as well as recurring roles on shows like Parenthood, Masters of Sex, Pearson, The Unicorn, and Love, Victor. Brandt has also appeared in films like Magic Mike and the recent Hulu mystery series Saint X, where she played Mia Thomas. Her memorable turn as the quirky, kleptomaniac Marie provided a launchpad for continued success across comedy and drama projects in the years since Breaking Bad’s conclusion.

Best known as the sleazy lawyer Saul Goodman on Breaking Bad, Bob Odenkirk transitioned that beloved character into his own critically acclaimed spin-off series Better Call Saul, earning multiple Emmy nominations over its six-season run. While reprising his famous role, Odenkirk has also expanded his acting prowess with roles in films like Nebraska, Fargo, The Post, Little Women, and Nobody—a 2021 action flick. He has lent his voice to animated hits like The Incredibles 2, as well. Despite suffering a near-fatal heart attack in 2022 while filming Better Call Saul, Odenkirk recovered and returned to wrap the series’ final season. He has continued acting with recent guest spots on shows like The Bear and Lucky Hank in 2023. The former comedian has transformed into a revered dramatic actor thanks to Breaking Bad’s Saul.

Giancarlo Esposito

Beyond the Breaking Bad universe, Esposito has remained in high demand with roles in films like Maze Runner sequels, The Jungle Book, The Money Monster, and Alex Cross. On television, he has appeared in shows such as Revolution, Allegiance, The Boys, and Dear Black People, which he narrated. Esposito even joined the Star Wars franchise as the villainous Moff Gideon on The Mandalorian. His voice acting talents have been showcased as Lex Luthor in Harley Quinn. Though he has played many memorable characters, Esposito’s nuanced performance as the understated Gus Fring remains his most defining role.

Jesse Plemons

After his thrilling turn as the cold-blooded Todd Alquist on Breaking Bad’s final season and reprising the role in El Camino, Jesse Plemons’ career skyrocketed. He earned critical acclaim for films like The Master, Bridge of Spies, Game Night, The Irishman, Judas and the Black Messiah, and The Power of the Dog—the latter two earning him Oscar nominations. The Breaking Bad star featured in the second season of Fargo, where he met and later married co-star Kirsten Dunst, with whom he now has two children. Other notable projects include the films Vice and the recent Killers of the Flower Moon, as well as the TV miniseries Love & Death. Though his cold-blooded Todd was an integral part of Breaking Bad lore, Plemons has deftly transitioned to an array of complex, acclaimed roles across film and television.

Jonathan Banks

Originally meant for just a guest stint in Season 2, Jonathan Banks made such an impact as the stoic fixer Mike Ehrmantraut that he became a main cast member. He reprised this role in El Camino and Better Call Saul, earning Emmy nominations for the latter. Beyond Breaking Bad, Banks has an extensive acting resume spanning films like Airplane!, Beverly Hills Cop, Mudbound, and voice roles in Incredibles 2 and Tangled: The Series. He’s had memorable TV roles on shows like Wiseguy, Community as Buzz Hickey, The Comey Rule as James Clapper, and The Expanse. With his gruff demeanor landing him many cop and criminal roles, as Banks himself said on NPR’s Fresh Air, “If you’re not beautiful, you better be able to act.” His talent and versatility made Mike a beloved character that fans welcomed seeing more of post-Breaking Bad.

One of the most celebrated and hated rappers turned 37 yesterday. That is Canadian hitmaker, Drake. He has plenty to be proud of this year. His It’s All A Blur tour was easily one of the most successful of 2023. It certainly competed with Beyonce’s and Taylor Swift’s and it brought us tons of funny moments. Drake also brought out tons of special guests. From NBA players and his rap pals, he certainly knew how to add to the excitement of each show. Additionally, he also had one of the most talked about guest verses of the year on Travis Scott’s “MELTDOWN” record.

However, Drake’s most crowning achievement was finally dropping his highly-awaited eighth album, For All The Dogs. While it is certainly split music fans, which Drake album does not do that, let’s be real. The rapper got to relish in all of these big moments not too long ago at his 37th birthday bash. He went all out for the party, hiring Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston to bartend for him. Producer BNYX was the one to post a video that the two Breaking Bad stars were hard at work.

Part of the reason they were there was most likely to sample off their Dos Hombres mezcal. However, it was still an awesome and unexpected moment. Drake took the time to shout out the two acting icons in an Instagram post. “Pinkman, Walter White, and Walter Light…RIP to Mike but when it comes to records we breaking bad for sure…I’ll be back with more f****ry and responses to all your love. ‘Breaking Bad’ Stars Bryan Cranston And Aaron Paul Made Drinks And Danced At Drake’s Birthday Party

For one night, Breaking Bad turned into Drake-ing Bad (sorry).

Rapper Drake, who released his eighth studio album For All the Dogs earlier this month, turned 37 years old on Tuesday. To celebrate, he held a birthday party at Casadonna in Miami, Florida, with two celebrity bartenders: Breaking Bad actors Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul. According to TMZ, “the two stars showed up floral shirts and all to Drake’s Miami bash… which likely served as an easy promotion for Bryan and Aaron’s Dos Hombres mezcal brand.”

In a video shared on Instagram by Drake’s producer BNYX, Paul can be overheard telling someone that a “Negroni is the easiest drink to make.” What about a Vodka Red Bull? Actually, never mind. I’m not going to argue with Jesse Pinkman. He’s been through enough.

“It’s important for Bryan and I, as founders of this company, that [our business partners] know that we are doing the work. We don’t want to just slap our names on something and let other people do the work,” Paul told MSNBC about Dos Hombres. “This is our baby, and we’re incredibly proud of our baby.” He added, “It’s brutal, but we have a good time doing it.”

Please enjoy Bryan Cranston getting loose on the dance floor. You deserve it.

Drake Had Aaron Paul & Bryan Cranston Serving Drinks At His Birthday Bash: Watch

Drake is one of the richest artists in the entire world. Overall, that is pretty well documented by now. He has had numerous number-one songs and albums. Furthermore, he has endeavors outside of music that are bringing in a ton of cash. Simply put, he remains one of the wealthiest people in music. Well, as it turns out, he is so rich that he has the ability to hire other celebrities to work for him. We found that out last night as Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston were bartending at his birthday party.

The revelation was made by producer BNYX, who posted a clip of them on social media. Of course, it is important to note that Paul and Cranston have their very own alcohol brand. Consequently, it makes sense that they would come out to a place like Drake’s party, where they could show off their product on a larger scale. However, for many, it was still pretty jarring to see two massive celebrities serving as workers at the artist’s party.

Drake Is Rich Rich

Paul and Cranston have seen quite a bit of success with Dos Hombres. Needless to say, it only makes sense that they would try to continue to momentum with such an appearance. However, it is interesting that Drake didn’t employ LeBron James instead. After all, LeBron is one of his best friends, and he too, has his own Tequila brand. Only time will tell whether or not the NBA superstar takes this personally.

Regardless, this was a very cool way for Drizzy to ring in his 37th year of life. We wonder how he will be able to top this, next year. Be sure to let us know what you think of Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston’s cameo at the party, in the comments section below. Bryan Cranston Clarifies Retirement Comments

Bryan Cranston says that he won’t be retiring from acting, after a recent GQ interview in which he strongly suggested his career was coming to an end. When news of his retirement began to spread, he took to Instagram to clarify that he still has more to do.

“Hey everyone, I hope this little message finds you well. Some news came out that wasn’t entirely clear…even to me. So I wanted to set the record straight. I am not retiring,” Cranston began in his post. “What I am going to do is hit the pause button for a year after I reach my 70th birthday in 2026. Holy crap – 70! I’m not even sure what ‘pausing’ means entirely, but at this moment, I think it means that by taking a year off it will provide several things.”

From there, Cranston listed out what he hopes to gain from taking a break from his acting career. Firstly, he explained that he hopes to be able to spend more time with his wife, Robin, in a way that he hasn’t been able to before as a celebrity.

He continued: “Secondly, it gives me a sort of ‘reset’ in my career. I’ve had such an unbelievable ride for over two decades – with playing characters on TV, films, and on stage that I could only have dreamt about…until it actually happened. I could not be more grateful and thankful for such opportunities. That said, I feel as though I’m beginning to run out of fresh ideas in how to play characters that I’m being offered.” Cranston further added that he’ll be getting off social media as well as reading more classic novels.

Bryan Cranston Clarifies His Future Plans

Cranston has played numerous iconic roles during the course of his career including Walter White in Breaking Bad and Hal in Malcolm in the Middle. He turned 67 years old, back in March.

Bryan Cranston Suggests “MAGA” Is A “Racist Remark”

Prepare to rehash MAGA madness as the U.S. approaches another presidential election next year. Donald Trump coined the phrase during his tenure, and it spread like wildfire among his supporters. Yet, it wasn’t just in America that MAGA mania took over. Red hats surfaced worldwide, and the “Make America Great Again” slogan was forever cemented in infamy. Some have refuted the phrase, questioning when the U.S. has been “great” to and for all of its citizens. Others associate MAGA with Trump’s often incendiary remarks disparaging People of Color or marginalized groups.

Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston has been on the interview circuit, and he’s sharing thoughts about all things politics. He went toe-to-toe with Bill Maher as the pair debated Critical Race Theory, and more recently, he addressed MAGA enthusiasts. Cranston visited Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace on CNN and explained why Trump’s slogan could be considered racist.

“When I see ‘Make America Great Again,’ my comment is, ‘Do you accept that that could possibly be construed as a racist remark?’” said Cranston. “A lot of people go, ‘How could that be racist, to make America great again?’ I said, ‘So just ask yourself from an African-American experience: When was it ever great in America for the African-American? So if you’re making it great again, it’s not including them.’”

“It’s to teach us, in the ‘woke’ world, to open up and accept the possibilities that our privilege has created blind spots for us. Maybe I haven’t seen what’s really happening, in all my years.” The reactions to the actor’s comments have been pouring from one social media platform to the next. He has been vilified by avid Trump and MAGA supporters but praised by their opponents.

Bryan Cranston & Bill Maher Clash

During his conversation with Maher earlier this month, the crux of the discussion was about the likes of CRT and The 1619 Project shining a light on the ongoing impact the institution of slavery has had on American history. Maher doesn’t believe in 1619‘s mission of dissecting the Transatlantic Slave Trade’s influence, but Cranston thinks it’s essential. “In Florida, they want to do away with critical race theory, and a lot of other states,” said the actor. “I mean, teaching how the race trade and racism is systemic in everything we’ve done in government, in social activities.”

Bryan Cranston Would Do A “Malcolm In The Middle” Movie

Fans famously know Bryan Cranston for his iconic role as Walter White in Breaking Bad. He even just reprised the role for a Super Bowl LVII commercial for PopCorners along with Aaron Paul, who reprised his role as Jesse Pinkman. However, before the hit AMC series, he was known as the hilarious father on Malcolm in the Middle. His character, Hal, worshipped his wife and was a laid-back father who was awful at disciplining his children. Fans loved him on the series and relished in his ability to be simultaneously the best and the worst (at times).

The sitcom could possibly be getting a new film. Cranston said he would only be interested in partaking “if it was a great idea.” Cranston told The Independent that “it’s a possibility.” He admitted that he had recently spoken with Malcolm in the Middle’s creator, Linwood Boomer. “He said he would think about it, and he got his writers together. If they can come up with a great idea, a legitimate idea, then he’ll pursue it. But if not, then nah. I don’t need a job. I’ve got plenty of jobs. I don’t need it, but I’d want it if it was a great idea.”

Cranston spent seven seasons on Malcolm in the Middle playing Hal. He acted opposite Frankie Muniz, who played Malcolm. He was also famously paired with Jane Kaczmarek, who played his wife, Lois. Cranston described his time on Malcolm in the Middle as “seven years of glory.” He continued, elaborating that “Going to work every day and making yourself and others laugh. That was my job.” He looks back on his time on the show fondly, explaining that reminiscing about the seven seasons is like getting to kiss that really pretty girl all those years ago.

This is not the first time that Cranston has discussed the possibility of a Malcolm in the Middle reboot film. In January, Cranston spoke to E! News about the possibility of returning to the character, Hal. He said, “There was some talk about the possibility of doing, like, a reunion movie of Malcolm in the Middle. We had such a great family on that, and I certainly would be open to that if there was a good idea that came up — like, ‘Oh, that would be fantastic to explore what happened to this family 20 years later.’ I can’t believe it’s already that, but that would be fun to do.”
