Mikal Bridges Reveals He Eats Chipotle Every Day, Speaks On Nets’ Load Management

Brooklyn Nets star Mikal Bridges has revealed that he has eaten at Chipotle every day for the last decade. “[It’s] too fire to not have it every single time. It don’t disappoint,” Bridges told GQ. A decade of Chiptole takes Bridges back to his junior year of high school, which is some serious dedication. Bridges would have to travel 3.5 miles from his high school for Chipotle and about 2.4 miles from his college, Villanova.

Furthermore, Bridges revealed that he does try to keep his order healthy. The Nets star has a go-to order of a white rice, double chicken, salsa, corn, and lettuce bowl. However, Bridges also revealed that he has had to sacrifice the spice of the year because his taste buds can’t handle the heat anymore. “Rest in peace to the sauce,” he lamented.

Mikal Bridges Slams Nets’ Load Management

However, something that Bridges doesn’t have a fondness for is the Nets’ load management. “Didn’t like the choice and whatever that was. But it’s whatever. Definitely was not a fan,” Bridges told the Post after he rested following the first period of the Nets’ recent game against the Bucks. The Nets rested several starters for large portions of the game. The Bucks won by 22 points, stomping the Nets 144-122. The Bucks scored 44 points in the fourth quarter alone as they ran away with an originally close game.

However, Bridges also insisted that his frustration had nothing to do with his ongoing iron man streak of consecutive starts. “I guess for their purposes is why. But I’m healthy, so I [don’t] see why I wouldn’t play. The streak is, I guess, for everyone else to talk about,” Bridges told the Post. “But I don’t just get in there for the streak. I get in there to play the game and because I want to go out there and win. I don’t go in there to just sub in, get the streak and whatever. I just want to play,” Bridges said.

Travis Scott’s Drink Explodes After Being Hit By Loose Ball At Knicks-Nets: Watch

For the second time this week, things are hitting Travis Scott. While courtside at Knicks-Nets, a loose ball collided with Scott, causing his seltzer to go everywhere. As stadium workers rushed up to clean up the spillage, play-by-play announcer Ian Eagle called Scott’s drink explosion a “geyser”. However, Scott took the whole thing in stride and calmly cracked open a new can while bemusedly watching the replay on the jumbotron.

However, as mentioned, it’s the second time this week something like this has happened. Scott was hit in the back of the head by one of his stage props while performing at a concert this week. Luckily, he was able to regain his balance and simply move to another part of the stage, as opposed to being knocked off the stage entirely. Hopefully, Scott can get through Christmas without any more disasters.

Travis Scott Rolling Loud Sneakers Up For Auction

Meanwhile, a pair of custom Cactus Jack Air Jordans that Scott gave to a fan at Rolling Loud Germany has been put up for auction. Scott gifted the Egyptian fan the shoes after bringing the man up on stage. It was one of several impromptu clothing giveaways Scott did in his pre-Utopia festival circuit. The shoes are being sold through Goldin’s and are expected to go for around $10,000. “In an iconic moment in pop culture history, we’re excited to see these sneakers hit the auction block. As a sneakerhead myself, it’s great to offer a rare opportunity for other collectors to own a custom pair of Air Jordans” auction owner Ken Goldin told TMZ.

As mentioned, it wasn’t the first time that Scott gave away his shoes over the summer. Earlier in July, at Longitude Festival in Dublin, Scott got up close and personal with the throbbing mass of fans at the barricade. Picking out one fan in particular, Scott began to rap back and forth with the fan, who eagerly responded. The back-and-forth continued, with Scott getting more and more hyped up about the interaction. When the verse ended, Scott pulled off his shirt, an unreleased Utopia merch item, as well as his Air Jordans. Fighting back the sea of grabbing hands, Scott handed the items to the fan he had rapped with.

Ben Simmons Not Rushing His Return, According To Nets GM

Summertime is when NBA players are looking to get their bodies completely right for the start of the season in October. However, for Ben Simmons, it’s been multiple years of mental and physical health problems, which makes every injury update pivotal. The most recent news is “Simmons isn’t yet playing 5-on-5, not going to rush his return,” according to Stefan Bondy on Twitter. Adding onto this report, Brooklyn Nets GM Sean Marks let Bondy and New York Post reporter Brian Lewis that”He’s not doing 3-on-3 or 5-on-5 yet. I was down there two weeks ago [with] him [and] training staff and saw the progress.”

Back in early June, Ben Simmons announced he was back on the court, working on individual drills. However, the progress is slow as he returns from a nerve impingement in his lower back. Of course, there are also the mental health issues surrounding the pressure he’d felt back when he was with the Philadelphia 76ers. Some reporters and pundits have questioned his commitment to basketball, but Sean Marks has a note on that as well: “Happy to report he’s in great physical shape [and] also mentally. He’s rearing and champing at the bit to get out there.”

Ben Simmons Is Reportedly A Trade Chip

Sean Marks could be blowing smoke into the air with this Ben Simmons non-update. While Simmons isn’t playing with any true competition, it’s important for the Nets to continue to showcase him as a valuable asset with plenty of potential. As HotNewHipHop reported last week, he could be available for trade as part of a package to land Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard. Even though he has not played since February 15th, his hefty contract and youth could be exactly what Portland is looking for in return for their franchise superstar, along with a ton of draft picks.

In the meantime, Ben Simmons will continue his snail-pace rehab. Back impingements are serious pain issues that can only be remedied with rest and other gentle treatments like applying heat to the area. Hopefully, he can get back to competitive gameplay for the start of the NBA season. He was acquired by the Nets two seasons ago, in early 2022, in exchange for James Harden to go to the 76ers. Brooklyn also received Seth Curry, Andre Drummond, and two future unprotected first-round picks. (The 76ers also got Paul Millsap in the trade.)

Brooklyn Nets Join Bradley Beal Trade Talk

On June 14, Shams Charania revealed that the Washington Wizards were working with franchise cornerstone Bradley Beal to find a trade the veteran would agree to. Beal has played his entire career in Washington after being drafted in 2012. However, despite Beal’s caliber, the Wizards had always let him down in terms of a supporting cast. After a handful of Conference Semifinal appearances in the late-2010s, Washington has just one playoff appearance in the last five years.

A variety of teams were immediately floated as good theoretical fits for Beal. However, Beal’s incredibly weighty contract ($207.7 million over the next four seasons) is a major part of the negotiations. Furthermore, Beal will be going from being the top player on the Wizards to like the second or third player on another team. A figure like $207.7 million is a lot of money for a guy who isn’t your best player. Despite this, the Miami Heat and Milwaukee Bucks have both emerged as early suitors for the veteran’s services. They were subsequently joined by the Sacramento Kings. However, another Eastern Conference team has been linked with Beal.

Brooklyn Nets Join Beal Rumors

After a season spent collecting draft capital, the Brooklyn Nets have been vocal about their intention to build a contender around Mikal Bridges. They have a wealth of draft picks over the rest of the decade and the ability to build the team that best fits their vision. Beal would make an excellent, and reliable, veteran presence for what is likely to be a younger Nets team.

These latest rumors come courtesy of TNT’s Chris Haynes, who shared them on the #thisleague UNCUT podcast. While it’s unclear how serious or far along in their thinking the Nets are, they should be considered a potential suitor. This news is not the only Beal news of the day. In addition with the Nets joining the fray, the Wizards have reportedly granted Beal permission to speak with other teams. This is a major step forwards in the trade discussions. Furthermore, it indicates that the Wizards may be looking to get a deal completed before the NBA Draft. Follow all the latest sports news here at HotNewHipHop.

Ben Simmons Confident About Bounce Back Next Season

Ben Simmons crashed out of the 2022/23 NBA season on March 28. The Australian guard had struggled with nerve inflammation for most of the month, as well as dealing with a number of other injuries over the course of the season. The Nets, cautious about injuring Simmons further, opted to shut him down for the season as opposed to rushing him back for the playoffs.

The season, Simmons’ first with the Nets, saw him play in just 42 games. He averaged just 6.9 points per game and saw other dropoffs across the board. It was far from the start of his post-Sixers career that Simmons was likely hoping for. However, Simmons is remaining optimistic, and recent comments have outlined where his mentality is at regarding next season. Simmons is owed $78.2 million over the next two seasons, according to his current contract.

“Ben has been cleared to progress to his next stage of his rehab and is progressing really well,” Simmons’ agent Bernie Lee told The New York Post‘s Brian Lewis Wednesday. “And we remain very excited about his ability to return to form next year.” That next step appeared to be open-court practice, as Simmons posted to his Instagram story from a gym in Miami. Furthermore, the news indicates that unlike the Nets had feared, Simmons will not have to undergo further surgery, be it for his knee or back.

Additionally, Simmons is looking to get back to the court before the start of the next NBA season. In particular, the guard is eyeing the chance to represent Australia at the FIBA World Cup. This year’s World Cup, the second to feature 32 teams, is set to be co-hosted by Indonesia, Japan, and the Philippines. Starting on August 25, the training camp for the Australian National Team begins on August 1. Simmons made his national debut in 2013 but has withdrawn from all subsequent national team call-ups. Australia face Germany, Finland, and Japan in the group stage. How do you feel about the Ben Simmons situation? Let us know in the comments.
