Boosie Badazz Apologies To LSU Player After Racially-Charged Comments

Boosie Badazz likes to speak his mind. The rapper will give his opinion no matter the topic or how much flack he will get for it online. His unapologetic nature is part of what makes him such an entertaining hip-hop presence, but it’s also what makes the few times he actually does apologize feel sincere. One such apology came on April 4, when Boosie took to Instagram to address the racially charged comments he made towards white LSU athlete Hailey Van Lith.

Firstly, context. Boosie criticized Van Lith in a since-deleted X post following an LSU loss. The rapper accused Van Lith of being scared to compete against Iowa superstar Caitlin Clark. “Our white girl was scared to death of Clark,” he wrote. “Why was she guarding her in the first place? We gotta do some serious recruiting next year.” Boosie would have caught heat for singling Van Lith out regardless, but it was the racial component that bothered fans. Blaming one player for a team loss is a tough look, and Boosie relented.

The rapper posted an Instagram video from inside his car, where he directly addressed Van Lith. He blamed his comments on the passion he felt for the game, and acknowledged that he was out of line in making them. “Hey, I want to apologize to Hailey Van Lith,” Boosie stated. “That’s my bad. I got in my feelings. I really wanted y’all to win, man.” Furthermore, he extended the apology to LSU, and clarified that it came from a place of support. “I apologize to you and to LSU,” he added. “I mean, that’s all I can say, I got in my feelings. Really wanted y’all to beat Iowa.”

Boosie’s LSU fandom is infamous among his fans. When the LSU women’s basketball team won their first ever NCAA tournament championship in 2023, the rapper celebrated by cutting the nets to the baskets in his backyard. “Congratulations from all of us,” he wrote in the caption to his Instagram post. Boosie’s antics went semi-viral, with many clowning the rapper for acting like a member of the team. Boosie Badazz is a man with many opinions, and he’s certainly not shy about sharing them. If you follow the 41-year-old on social media, you may have heard his controversial thoughts on The Color Purple – an Oprah Winfrey-produced product featuring acting performances from Halle Bailey, H.E.R., and Ciara, just to name a few. Though Boosie was impressed by some of what he saw on-screen, the “Mind of a Maniac” hitmaker is once again putting his foot down about the “narrative” being pushed on the public by the LGBTQ+ community.

“I HAD TO WALK OUT THIS ‘COLOR PURPLE‘ MOVIE (N TWO OTHER OLDER COUPLES WALKED OUT ALSO),’ he wrote on Twitter earlier this week. “BECAUSE I HAD MY LITTLE GIRLS WITH ME [AND] IT SEEMED LIKE A LOVE STORY” Boosie added before confirming he wouldn’t let his daughter watch the new movie as a result. As backlash to his post comes pouring in, the multi-talent is now ranting about his right to his opinion.

Boosie Badazz Quietly Drops Off “Goin Thru Some Thangs”

Boosie Badazz has just dropped off his latest album, Goin Thru Some Thangs. It contains only one feature out of 14 tracks. It’s surprising that Boosie didn’t promote this album much. However, he might not need it with his cult-like fan base. It doesn’t matter what he creates, they’ll consume it. It’s truly a testament to the power among his fans, who have followed him since his early mixtapes.

The album title should be recognizable to Boosie fans. It’s named after a track on his third studio album, Bad Azz, released in 2006. It features guest appearances from Webbie, Big Head, Foxx, Pimp C, and Yung Joc. The album debuted at number 18 on the US Billboard 200, selling 41,000 copies in the first week.

This Marks His Third Release This Year

Despite numerous legal troubles, Boosie has been quite active in the studio. In addition to his latest project, he has also released two albums this year. First Day Back was released in June, and Best Album Of 2023 was released in March. YFN Lucci Still Making Romantic Gestures From Prison

YFN Lucci is making men everywhere look bad. Despite being imprisoned on racketeering charges, he’s still treating his lady on the outside. In a new clip, she shows off an ornate flower arrangement and some designer pieces she’s been spoiled with. The clip also features a message Lucci sent her from prison. Fans in the comments were impressed that he was treating her better than many guys who aren’t even behind bars. “Them n*ggas in jail be spoiling their girls better than the ones out! Howwww!???” the top comment on the post reads. “he a good pen pal I want a jail Nigga like this,” reads another comment.

YFN Lucci is in jail dealing with some pretty substantial charges. He was indicted as part of a massive RICO operation in May of 2021. Shortly after that he was denied bond and has remained incarcerated ever since. Back in June, Lucci was offered a plea deal by the Fulton County District Attorney. That deal would have required him to plead guilty to a number of charges, felony murder included among them. The deal would have resulted in Lucci spending 17 years in prison. Ultimately, he turned it down and decided to fight the RICO charges in a trial.

In the wake of the news that YFN Lucci turned down his plea deal, many others reacted. One of which was Boosie Badazz who explained how mis-judged Lucci is in the situation. He says Lucci “goes home every night to his family,” and is “doing none of that sh*t. It’s a bad RICO, dog.”

YFN Lucci hasn’t released a new project since 2020’s Wish Me Well 3. Despite his imprisonment though, new Lucci verses do occasionally pop up on other artist’s songs.
