Larry June and Cardo recently revealed their collaborative project, The Night Shift, and now they’ve dropped a soulful R&B track – “Without You (Blxst Interlude),” featuring Blxst. Following previous releases, “Chops On The Blade” and “The Good Kind,” this stirring addition to the album is already gaining attention.
The Night Shift will be Larry June’s first project since his celebrated collaboration with The Alchemist on The Great Escape, and fans eagerly anticipate its release. With Larry June’s unique style and Cardo’s production, this upcoming project is set to be a standout in their respective discographies.
Los Angeles natives and now frequent collaborators Blxst and Bino Rideaux are back once again with more new music. Consistently over the past four years, the duo has released a new Sixtape every other year. The same remains true with Sixtape 3 now available on all streaming platforms. Both ultra-talented singers and rappers, Blxst and Bino have formed a pretty formidable duo in the West Coast scene. While they might not be the names you immediately mention, you cannot deny they are bringing a unique flavor.
The Sixtape series is known for its earworm hooks and effortless flows over trap and R&B beats. That trend continues here in the third installment. Blxst and Bino Rideaux make it look easy, especially on songs like “Doin Yo Stuff.” It is the ultimate love-making song with bouncy West Coast influence in its production and auto-tune-laced vocals. The melody that Blxst and Bino provide here is so smooth and effortless.
The R&B hits continue on the following track “Get Away.” It is another love cut but this one possesses more emotional weight that shows both artists missing their partners. Their love for them is so strong that it is hard to function when they are not around. Blxst sings in the chorus, “Ain’t no question, you should send that my way (My way) / I’m so reckless, I’ve been pressin’ all day (All day) / What do it take for us to get away? (Get away).” Overall, it should please their fanbases with the familiar vibes Sixtape 3 displays. Both artists continue to impress with their seamless connection on every track they hop on.
What are your initial thoughts on this brand new EP from Blxst and Bino Rideaux, Sixtape 3? Is this the best installment in the Sixtape series? Which artist performs the best on this project? LA tag team Blxst and Bino Rideaux dropped their new mixtape, Sixtape 3, today, and with it, the video for one of its standout tracks, “Doin Yo Stuff.” In the video, Bino and Blxst are a pair of thirsty personal trainers at an all-women gym. While the members lift, stretch, and (of course) twerk it out in the exercise room, the two rappers croon-rap some encouragement, telling the girls’ their “ass got fatter” — which is a good thing, in rap parlance.
Fans of the duo’s first and second Sixtapes won’t be disappointed here. Their chemistry remains intact and their beat choices remain excellent as they sling seductive come-ons over laid-back funk instrumentals. The fittingly titled six-track tape is a smooth ride from beginning to end, depicting the highs and lows of life in South Central LA, slotting right in alongside the first two installments (an 18-song vinyl release wouldn’t go amiss, fellas, I’m just saying).
Sixtape 3 is Blxst’s second project of the year after the NBA 2K23 soundtrack he curated, and he’s got one more in the works after this, so he’s having a pretty good year. Bino, who’s considerably accessible online, has put all his efforts behind promoting this one, but he’s only about a year or so removed from Sorry 4 Tha Wait II, so expect to hear from him soon. They’ve also got a sold-out mini-tour coming to four West Coast cities this month, likely preceding a longer tour later on.

Back in May, Blxst told Uproxx that he and Bino Rideaux were working on the third installment of their popular Sixtape series. Today, we now know when exactly they plan to release it. Blxst shared the project’s artwork and release date on Twitter — never calling it “X,” sorry, Elon — and prompting a fan furor over the hotly anticipated project. The third Sixtape is due September 1, a little over two years since Sixtape 2 and a little over a year since each rapper released their most recent solo projects (Before You Go, by Blxst, dropped last April, while Bino’s Sorry 4 Tha Wait II followed in July).

While Bino has been pretty low key since releasing Sorry 4 Tha Wait II, Blxst has been in high demand as rap’s current go-to hook master. As he says in the lyrics to his fan-favorite No Love Lost single “Pressure,” “He the new Nate Dogg / He the West back bone.” He proved as much by providing catchy choruses to tracks from Tyga and YG (“West Coast Weekend“) and Roddy Ricch (“Passionate“), as well as a posthumous release from Nipsey Hussle featuring DJ Drama and Jeezy (“Raised Different“).
Sixtape III is out 9/1 via EVGLE / Out The Blue/Def Jam and Red Bull Records.
Last month, hyperarticulate San Pedro rapper Remble made his return to the spotlight with the help of Blxst on the spiritual single, “Child Of God.” Today, the duo shares the affirmative video for the song, which takes place in two major frames reflecting the song’s duality. We see a sunny day in LA, with children play fighting in the street, a group of women cruising around in a convertible, and Blxst performing in the hills flanked by a small choir.
But then, when the beat switches up for Remble’s verse, things get dark — literally, as his segment takes place at night under a fireworks display. We also see the other side of some of the brighter scenes. The kids playing “Duck, Duck, Goose” are running around a chalk outline, while one of the women from the convertible scene shows off her other skills, suggesting that there’s a price to be paid for some blessings.
“Child Of God” is just the latest song making Blxst one of the West Coast’s most ubiquitous voices lately. Earlier this year, he curated the soundtrack to NBA 2K23‘s latest season and appeared on tracks from Compton rappers Tyga & YG (“West Coast Weekend“) and Roddy Ricch (“Passionate“). As he told Uproxx in May, he’s not only working on his third album but also another joint Sixtape with Bino Rideaux.
Remble returns after over a year away from the spotlight to deliver more of his hyper-enunciated bars on Blxst‘s new single “Child Of God.” After Blxst sing-raps his way through a gospel-tinged inspirational, the beat switches up and Remble raises some hell, contemplating the darker side of life in Southern California. Where Blxst gives thanks for his growing list of blessings, Remble prays for protection — but still makes sure to let any potential enemies know he’s got a backup plan on him at all times.
The San Pedro rapper seemingly disappeared from the public eye in 2022 after having an impressive breakout year in 2021. After dropping his debut album, It’s Remble, in July and caught a wave in September with “Rocc Climbing” featuring Lil Yachty, though, he was devastated by the death of his greatest benefactor, Drakeo The Ruler, who’d signed him to his Stinc Team label. It seems he’s making his recovery now, making his first foray back into the spotlight with the help of Blxst, who has been as visible lately as Remble has been low-key.
Blxst is fresh off of curating the soundtrack to NBA 2K23‘s Season 7 and contributing his signature smooth choruses to tracks from Tyga & YG and Roddy Ricch. Check out “Child Of God” above.
Remble is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.
Blxst has impressed us already with his work in 2023 so far, from his appearance on Labo4oe’s “Tada” to his Just For Clarity 2 EP. The latter previously gave R&B lovers four new songs to revel in, including “Passionate” featuring Roddy Ricch, “Keep Calling” with Larry June, and the Mustard-produced “Ghetto Cinderella” alongside Terrace Martin. His most recent work came in the form of “West Coast Weekend” with YG and Tyga last month, but Blxst knows that’s not enough to keep his fans satisfied all through the summer.
On Tuesday (July 11), the vocalist surprised us with a new single called “child of GOD,” which finally finds him connecting with West Coast artist Remble. Blxst begins the song with a catchy chorus followed by a reflective verse. “Yeah, and I done seen it all above / The hate, the love, the fake handshakes, the genuine hugs / It is what it is, yeah, was what it was / I done really lost friends, that’s what success does,” he contemplates.
Blxst is Feeling Like a “child of GOD” on New Remble Collab
For his part, Remble brings his signature flow to the beat, praising the Lord and reminding listeners that things come easier when you surrender to the divine plan. While speaking with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, Blxst explained how their genre-bending single came to be. “Remble, for example, the dichotomy between him and me, it’s just like good and evil. People love to see those things meshed together. And even on ‘child of GOD,’ that was the constant theme in the song, seeing the good, no matter what evil you’re surrounded by,” he told the host.

Lost in my fate, hard to relate Forgive me for my sins, all the hearts that I break Wished I was on, now I’m gettin’ off with the greats I guess you gotta win, all them losses you take
It’s (finally) sunny in LA again, and the latest collab between Compton rappers Tyga and YG is perfect for the festivities to come. It’s a fitting time to drop the video for “West Coast Weekend” featuring Blxst as the sort of lavish pool parties depicted in the clip is coming around the corner for the rest of us. And although the sun wasn’t quite shining yet when they filmed this in the Hollywood Hills, that doesn’t stop their bikini-clad guests from having a ball, lounging on Lambos, taking a dip in the pool, and playing Twister on the lawn.
“West Coast Weekend,” which shares the same unforgettable Cameo sample as Tupac’s “All About U,” Beyoncé’s “Before I Let Go” cover, and Mariah Carey’s “Loverboy,” is just latest single from YG and Tyga’s upcoming collaborative album, which they announced during Tyga’s set at Rolling Loud in Los Angeles earlier this year. The two Hub City natives previously built chemistry on tracks like Tyga’s “Go Loko” and YG’s “Run,” and kept it going with another joint single, “Platinum.”
Both are experienced with collaborative album rollouts; in 2015, Tyga worked with Chris Brown on the album Fan Of A Fan, while YG recently dropped their joint album Kommunity Service — which, funnily enough, also featured a single with Blxst.
