Chief Keef “Almighty So 2” First Week Sales Numbers Revealed

Chief Keef’s Almighty So 2 is one of those rare cases in which a mythical album actually lives up to the hype set by an artist’s die-hards. However, while fans definitely hold him in high regard, the charts are not as forgiving, and thus many were curious as to how the project would perform. As it turns out, Almighty So 2 cracked the Billboard 200’s top 30, and debuted with almost 23,000 units sold in its first week of release. Sure, it’s not a show-stopping performance, but it’s still amazing to see records like that and Knocked Loose’s new album appear alongside chart dominators like Drake’s For All The Dogs and Travis Scott’s UTOPIA.

Furthermore, a lot of Chief Keef fans took to the comments section of the Instagram post below to sing their praises for Almighty So 2. With songs like “Runner,” “Believe,” “Neph Nem,” and “Grape Trees,” there’s plenty of quality to go around and enough moments of levity to break up the relentless bangers. There hasn’t really been one particular hit off of the album, but most of the tracklist is getting its due flowers. Even if it doesn’t go up commercially from here, we’re sure that it will stay in listeners’ rotation for 2024.

Kendrick Lamar Albums Continue To Ascend Billboard Charts Following Drake Battle

Kendrick Lamar is one of the biggest hip-hop artists of all time. However, the same could be said of Drake. In fact, when it comes to pure numbers, Drizzy remains at the top. Overall, Drake’s reign at the top has been put in serious jeopardy thanks to his recent battle with Lamar. In the eyes of fans, Drake was thoroughly outclassed by his opponent. Furthermore, Kendrick has been winning the numbers battle as “Not Like Us” became the number-one song on the Billboard charts. It’s been wild to watch unfold, and throughout this entire journey, Kendrick has remained out of the public eye.

As it turns out, this success in the battle has led to a whole lot of success as it pertains to the album charts. When it comes to the Billboard Hot 200, Kendrick’s albums have been seeing huge increases in their chart position. For instance, DAMN is currently 18th on the chart. However, it was down at 41 just last week. Additionally, To Pimp A Butterly has gone from not being on the list, all the way up to 109. Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers as well as good kid, m.A.A.d city have also seen lots of success. The former went from 192 to 55. While the latter went from 51 to 23.

Kendrick Lamar Continues To Dominate

This is in stark contrast to Drake, who has seen all of his albums lose positions on the charts. It shows that listeners are currently siding with Kendrick, and they want to hear if he may have dissed Drake elsewhere in his discography. If Lamar were to drop an album this year, there is no denying it would do some incredible numbers in its first week.

J Cole’s  “Might Delete Later” Sales Projection Forecasts Huge Debut

J. Cole’s new mixtape, Might Delete Later, is expected to debut on the charts as the biggest release of the week, with HitsDailyDouble reporting it will move between 140k and 160k copies in its first week of availability. The project features collaborations with Young Dro, Gucci Mane, Ari Lennox, Cam’ron, Central Cee, Bas, Daylyt, and Ab-Soul. It also concludes with a noteworthy diss track aimed at Kendrick Lamar.

Lamar previously dissed both J. Cole and Drake on Metro Boomin and Future’s album, We Don’t Trust You, for his verse on the song, “Like That.” Lamar took issue with being lumped in with Drake and J. Cole as hip-hop’s “Big 3” on the song, “First Person Shooter.” “Yeah get up with me, f*ck sneak dissing / ‘First Person Shooter,’ I hope they came with three switches,” he rapped. “Motherf*ck the big three, n***a, it’s just big me.”

On the closer to Might Delete Later, titled, “7 Minute Drill,” Cole raps, “Your first sh*t was classic, your last sh*t was tragic/ Your second sh*t put n****s to sleep, but they gassed it/ Your third sh*t was massive and that was your prime/ I was trailin’ right behind and I just now hit mine.” He also threatens to go even harder if Lamar doesn’t back down.

J Cole Headed For #1 Debut

Despite Cole’s response, Drake has still remained silent on the musical front. He’s seemingly referenced the beef in various Instagram captions, but that’s it for now. He wrapped up his It’s All A Blur – Big As The What? Tour, earlier this week, so perhaps an official response will arrive shortly. Be on the lookout for further updates on J. Cole on HotNewHipHop.

Cole and Drake with his lyrics. “F*ck sneak dissin’, first person shooter, I hope they came with three switches… Think I won’t drop the location? I still got PTSD/ Motherf*ck the big three, n***a, it’s just big me/ N***a, bum, what? I’m really like that/ And your best work is a light pack,” he raps at one point. French Montana’s “Mac & Cheese 5” Set For Top 10 Debut

Last week, French Montana released his new album Mac & Cheese 5. The project sports an impressive feature list. It netted appearances from Kanye West, Rick Ross, Lil Baby, Lil Wayne, JID, Lil Durk, Meek Mill, and many more. The project followed his Coke Boys 6 mixtape with DJ Drama which dropped last year and his most recent studio album They Got Amnesia which dropped in 2021. Now the first week sales projections for the album are in. Fans are extra interested in how the project performs because Montana went to extreme lengths in an attempt to get the sales as high as possible.

In addition to the original version of his album, French Montana also dropped numerous other versions of Mac & Cheese 5. Digital streaming platforms got an acapella version, an instrumental version, a slowed-down version, and a sped-up version in addition to the regular album. There’s also a “Versions” edition of the album which brings all of the versions together. It presents an astounding 126-song tracklist featuring numerous different versions of the same songs in a row. The album also got a deluxe edition released on the exact same day as the original which added just one additional track. See what they did to his sales numbers below.

French Montana Hits The Billboard 200 Top 10

One of the reasons his sales numbers look so impressive is the 44k pure sales. That part doesn’t come from streaming but rather purchases of the album itself. But fans think they’ve figured out why it’s so high. Earlier this year, Montana surprised fans by selling pre-ordered vinyl copies of the album for just $5.

The stunt seems like it’s paid off as he generated more in pure sales for Mac & Cheese 5 than most rap albums, even by major artists have done in the past few years. What do you think of French Montana selling over 50k in his first week and potentially debuting as high as #3? Let us know in the comment section below.

Yeat’s “2093” Expected To Have Chart-Topping Debut, “Vultures 1” Barely Misses Out On Second Week At The Top

2093, the latest album from breakout star Yeat, is expected to debut atop the Billboard Album 200. According to Hits Daily Double, 2093 is projected to sell around 72,600 units in its first week, which should be enough to deny Vultures 1 a second week at the top of the chart. However, it is not going to be a runaway debut for Yeat. Vultures 1 is projected to sell a little over 72,400 units in its second week. 2093 is light on features but does have tracks with Future, Lil Wayne, and Drake.

However, Yeat also hinted that he might be stepping away from music after 2024. “Imma give yall a year of music then Imma tuck away and work on something life changing, ok,” he wrote on Instagram. 2093‘s release came after months of teasing and hype from the Portland rapper.

Yeat Used Young Thug Lyrics As His Yearbook Quote

Yeat
LONDON, ENGLAND – JULY 07: (EDITORIAL USE ONLY) Yeat performs during day one of Wireless Festival 2023 at Finsbury Park on July 07, 2023 in London, England. (Photo by Joseph Okpako/WireImage)

Meanwhile, last year, Yeat went viral for his alleged yearbook quote. According to images shared online, his yearbook quote is lyrics attributed to “Thugga”. Except the quote is wrong. Or at the very least, it’s not one continuous lyric. According to the image, Yeat submitted “I got hundreds on top of hunnids. That blue cheese, NOT ranch.” But this appears to a mashup of two lyrics. The first part of the quote is from “Problem“. Meanwhile, the second half of the quote is from “Homie”. The two lyrics in full are “I got hundreds sittin’ on hundreds, that blue cheese, I’m not ranchin’” and “I got blue cheese on me, all hundreds/Blue cheese no ranch.”

However, that’s not the only thing people were reacting to in the image. While most people have a very standardized yearbook photo. Meanwhile, he is draped in tartan and wearing ski goggles, which is certainly a look. However, the combination of the irregular photo and the weird lyric has led many people to declare that the image is faked. Furthermore, the image has been circulating since late May, around when Yeat and Young Thug collaborated on “My Wrist”. Do you think it’s real?

Nicki Minaj Passes Jay-Z In Combined Billboard Charting Weeks

In addition to the numerous weekly charts Billboard tracks in order to display the most popular songs all around the world, they also have a ton of data on some of the biggest artists around. One of the stats they keep track of is combined weeks between the Hot 100 and Billboard 200. The stat does a good job of showing which artists dominate the charts with both their albums and singles. Among rappers, there was just a shake-up in the top 10 of all-time combined weeks on the two biggest charts.

The top 5 features the kinds of superstars you’d expect. Future clocks in at just over 2000 combined weeks with Kanye West and Lil Wayne also landing in the 2000s. Eminem comes in at second place with just over 3000 weeks. But at number one with an astonishing 6142 weeks, more than double anybody else, is Drake. But looking to join both the 2000 club and the top 5 soon is Nicki Minaj. Her recent chart success has officially propelled her past Jay-Z for 6th all-time among rappers. She currently sits at 1945 combined weeks between the Hot 100 and Billboard 200.

Nicki Minaj Newest Chart Achievement

Nicki Minaj has added quite a bit to her total combined weeks in the past few months. That started with her new album Pink Friday 2 which dropped back in December. It was her first new album since 2018 and ended up causing increased streaming numbers for a lot of her older albums. The record also dropped numerous songs into the Hot 100.

Fan favorites like “Everybody” with Lil Uzi Vert and “FTCU” are still on the Hot 100 two months after the album dropped. She also got a single extra week of charting from her heavily-maligned Megan Thee Stallion diss track “Big Foot.” What do you think of Nicki Minaj moving to 6th all time among rappers in combined Billboard 200 and Hot 100 weeks? Does anybody on the top 10 list surprise you? Let us know in the comment section below.

Kanye West & Ty Dolla Sign React Meekly To “Vultures” Going Number One

Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign’s collaborative album Vultures just went number one on the Billboard charts despite a lot of release issues plaguing its rollout, plus all the antisemitic bigotry associated with it. All that aside, it seems like the album really connected with fans, and both artists seemingly reacted to this news. Of course, they’ve both boasted about it going number one in a lot fo countries before this Billboard confirmation. “It’s a beautiful time,” Ye stated to Complex, whereas Ty posted a video of himself saying, “Huh? Hm? S**t…” to the haters while holding up one index finger.

Vultures sold around 148,000 units in its first week, and this marks Ty Dolla Sign’s first-ever number one album. On the other hand, this is Kanye West’s eleventh number one album, and he technically hasn’t broken this consecutive streak of chart-toppers if you don’t count his G.O.O.D. Music compilation from 2012 or KIDS SEE GHOSTS with Kid Cudi. Even though they’re both huge artists, they should be grateful for having all this work out in their favor, as they are extremely lucky. Still, when you have as much money and infamy as they do, sample clearance issues become much easier to handle.

Kanye West & Ty Dolla Sign’s Vultures 1 Goes No. 1: The Latter Reacts

Another big problem with Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign’s first collab’s release was its distribution method, as original distributor FUGA took it off streaming services temporarily. “On Friday, February 9, 2024, a long-standing FUGA client delivered the album Vultures 1 through the platform’s automated processes, violating our service agreement,” a statement from the company read. “Therefore, FUGA is actively working with its DSP partners and the client to remove Vultures 1 from our systems.” This resolved itself promptly, though.

Meanwhile, the duo is now looking forward to some European listening events, kicking off in Italy and (at press time) wrapping up in Paris. Perhaps this will be the opportunity they have to celebrate this number one and to celebrate getting a new distributor for it. What do you think about Vultures 1 and how the next installments will shape up? Let us know in the comments and come back to HNHH for the latest on Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign.
