Big Freedia And Ciara Are Expensive On New Single “$100 Bill”

Big Freedia is back and ready to make you dance. Fresh off of an exciting 2022, the artist returns with a new dance single just in time for summer. Last year, Big Freedia worked with Beyonce on her hit track “Break My Soul.” It wasn’t the first time she worked with Queen Bey, but it was the first time she had been fully featured. Previously, the pop superstar had sampled Freedia on her 2016 single, “Formation.” When asked about featuring on the dance track with Beyonce, Big Freedia expressed her excitement. “The speakers were like jumping at me,” she said. “The bass was coming out of the speakers so heavy. I was in there just like shaking and like excited and overwhelmed.”

Now, Big Freedia is here with a dance track of her own. This time, she’s calling in pop star Ciara for a feature. “The first time I heard this song I thought the melodies were infectious. But also, even before that, Freedia and I have had such an amazing chemistry since we met, we both talked about working together,” Ciara said about working on the track. “The record is melodic, it’s a song for everyone from little kids to the grandmas, it just makes you feel joy.”

Big Freedia Feels Fresh And Clean

On her new single, Big Freedia displays an extremely infectious confidence. “’$100 Bill’ is about feelin’ like new money hot off the press! Big money! Feelin fresh and extra fabulous, but mostly about feeling good in your own skin,” she said to Source of the track. “Owning your walk, your talk, your scent, your ride, anything that makes you feel like your best self.” The New Orleans artist said that she and Ciara have been contemplating working together for quite some time.

The song really is infectious. It opens with Ciara’s melodic vocals over a chill rhythm guitar part, calling to mind the spirit of summer nights out with friends. Of course, given Freedia’s reputation as a bounce artist, you know there are plenty of parts in the song that will make you want to get up and shake it. Air horns are used to the absolute max as Big Freedia repeats, “Lookin’ like a, lookin’ like a, lookin’ like a hundred dollar bill.” It’s a fun dance track that you can really imagine just about anyone being able to move to.

Quotable Lyrics:

Walkin, lookin like a hundred dollar bill
New money, that’s how I feel
Yeah, I’m bop-bop-boppin’ for real
And I look like a hundred dollar bill

Big Freedia And Ciara Crave The Finer Things In Life On Their Energetic New Single, ‘$100 Bill’

Big Freedia is back with a new anthem for all the hotties. Titled “100 Dollar Bill” with Ciara as a feature, it proves to be an incredibly fun dance track that pays off with a hypnotic beat.

Freedia completes it with the equally-energetic lyricism on repeat, “So fresh, so clean! Lookin expensive!,” while Ciara also kicks off the song with, “Walkin’, lookin’ like a 100-dollar bill, new money that’s how I feel.”

“’$100 Bill’ is about feelin like new money hot off the press! Big money! Feelin fresh and extra fabulous, but mostly about feeling good in your own skin. Owning your walk, your talk, your scent, your ride, anything that makes you feel like your best self,” Big Freedia told The Source. “Ciara and I have been talking about working together for a while, so this track was perfect with her.”

“The first time I heard this song I thought the melodies were infectious. But also, even before that, Freedia and I have had such an amazing chemistry since we met, we both talked about working together,” Ciara added. “The record is melodic, it’s a song for everyone from little kids to the grandmas, it just makes you feel joy.”

Big Freedia Is Thrilled To Be Sampled On Beyoncé’s ‘Renaissance’ But Would Have Loved To Record New Vocals

Big Freedia’s 2014 track “Explode” is one of many songs sampled on Beyoncé’s new album Renaissance. She was excited from the beginning, making a post on Instagram once “Break My Soul” was out: “It feels surreal to be on the track with the Queen Beyoncé once again I’m so honored to be apart of this special moment I’m forever grateful lord. someone please catch me,” she wrote.

Today, she went on CBS Mornings to discuss the experience. When asked if she cared how “Explode” would be used, she said, “Not at all! It’s Beyoncé. You can use whatever you need, honey.” She was also asked if she would have wanted to re-record the “Explode” vocals for “Break My Soul.” She said, “Of course. If I’m there, I can do a whole lot more.”

She also touched on the what it was like writing that song initially. “At the time when I wrote ‘Explode,’ I was thinking about all of those things I wanted to release, and the things I do release when I get onstage,” she said. “All those things, I try to forget about those things and get into my zone. Sometimes you want to explode, all the things that you’re going through. So I wanted to release all those things.”

This reaction is the polar opposite of Kelis’, who is upset that no one notified her that she was sampled on Renaissance. “My mind is blown too because the level of disrespect and utter ignorance of all 3 parties involved is astounding,” she wrote.

Big Freedia Is Pumped About Beyoncé Sampling Her On ‘Break My Soul’

We are truly in the midst of surprise release season. First Drake came through with Honestly, Nevermind and now Beyoncé arrives with “Break My Soul,” which, like the Drake album, is also a fresh dose of dance music. Beyoncé got some help on this one, as the track samples Big Freedia’s “Explode,” about which Freedia is pleased.

Freedia wrote on Instagram last night, “It feels surreal to be on the track with the Queen Beyonce once again I’m so honored to be apart of this special moment I’m forever grateful lord. someone please catch me. [Blaqnmild] my brother and I been working along time congratulations fam. [Beyonce] love you so much.” Freedia also added in an Instagram Story, “Overwhelmed with tears of joy. my God is so real the things he can do in your life. only if y’all know where I come from and how hard this journey has been I’m forever grateful thanks so much for loving me for who l am. this for all of y’all.”

Lady Gaga Introduces An Anniversary Edition Of ‘Born This Way’ With A Big Freedia Cover

2011 was a huge year for Lady Gaga: Following the breakout success of her debut album The Fame, she released her first No. 1 album, Born This Way. The album yielded a handful of memorable top-10 singles, including “The Edge Of Glory” and the chart-topping title track. May 23 actually marked the 10th anniversary of the iconic album, and now Gaga is celebrating with a new reissue of it, Born This Way: The Tenth Anniversary, that is set to come out in June 18.

Aside from the original album, this 10th anniversary rerelease will also feature a handful of new versions of songs by artists who are representative of the LGBTQIA+ community. The first of these recordings has been shared today: A rework of “Judas” by Big Freedia. Freedia explains, “‘Judas’ was my favorite song when it came out originally, so I really wanted to cover. To me, ‘Judas’ is a love song about when someone does you dirty. I’ve sure had my experience with that. Who can’t relate?”

Aside from “Judas,” the reissue will also feature re-worked versions of “Highway Unicorn”, “You & I”, “Marry the Night”, “Born This Way,” and “The Edge Of Glory.” The other artists set to be involved have not yet been revealed.
