Benny the Butcher and BSF Announces ‘Long Live DJ Shay’ Album, Release “Times is Rough” Single
Long Live DJ Shay, Benny the Butcher and Black Soprano Family’s (BSF) biggest compilation project to date, is set to be released on September 9. They also unveiled a brand-new song and music video for “Times Is Rough,” which was created by the illustrious DJ Premier, along with the album announcement.
Long Live DJ Shay is a celebration of DJ Shay’s (RIP) history and influence on culture as a whole, not only on BSF and Griselda. Benny’s Roc La Familia project, Long Live DJ Shay, is a warning to the streets that not only promotes himself and his label but also his growing list of artists and people connected to him. Benny and his BSF compatriots, Westside Gunn, Conway The Machine, Boldy James, Stove God Cooks, Krayzie Bone, Armani Caesar, DJ Premier, The Alchemist, and Jansport J all make cameos and provide production on Long Live DJ Shay.
“Long Live DJ Shay! We put so much into this knowing he is watching down on us, and I know this is gonna wake everyone up,” Benny The Butcher confidently asserts. “B$F is the biggest. I promise you we them ones. The album is top-notch; from production to the rhymes and it’s entirely mixed by the legendary Young Guru, so I know it’s gone pop out ya speakers the right way. “

Maxo Kream And Benny The Butcher Serve The Block In The Head-Bopping ‘Football Heads’ Video
The art of rap is beautiful in itself, but it’s a special treat when rappers can infuse uncommonly used pop culture references in their bars. Maxo Kream does just that in his video for “Football Heads” featuring Benny The Butcher. Maxo executes a drug transaction outside of a store, raps in the middle of a football field, and nods his head while sitting in the stands surrounded by men wearing football helmets. He references Helga from the popular Nickelodeon show Hey Arnold! as well as WWE superstar John Cena.
Benny, on the other hand, shrinks to a miniature version of himself while rapping atop a table garnished with beer cans and drug paraphernalia. The mid-tempo production allows both to flex their lyrical prowess and remind us that they serve the best product on the block. “Football Heads” marks the first collaboration between the Houston and Buffalo rappers.
For Maxo, this follows “Jigga Dame” which was released earlier this year in addition to his features on “Loot,” “Overseas,” and “Throw’d As It Gets.” Benny shared “Benny’s Got A Gun” and appeared on “X-Rated,” in addition to his March 2022 project Tana Talk 4 highlighted by “Johnny P’s Caddy” featuring J. Cole.
