Swizz Beatz Says Rick Ross Wants To Battle T.I. On “Verzuz”

Swizz Beatz says that Rick Ross is open to battling T.I. on an episode of Verzuz. The iconic producer revealed the potential matchup during a live stream on Instagram with Timbaland. He says that the battle would decide who is the “king of the south.”

“Rick Ross said he wanted T.I.,” Swizz Beatz began. “Rick Ross and Tip. Battle of the south. Crown of the south. King of the south.” He concluded: “T.I., talk to me. Ross you can fly your plane to the party.”

It isn’t the first time that the idea of pitting Rick Ross and T.I. against each other has been brought up. It’s an idea that Joe Budden previously suggested for the series. “I’m down for the person that we’ve seen already, that won… alright, next battle. Rick Ross versus T.I.,” Budden said last year. “And Ross [has] got more than 40 records that he could play with, so now [he’s] back with a different 20. Or ‘John’ in front of T.I. looks different than ‘John’ in front of 2 Chainz. Like, I don’t think Ross will have time for the strippers to come out against T.I. It won’t be time for massages, speeches… that’s T.I.”

Facing off against T.I. wouldn’t be Rick Ross’ first time appearing on Verzuz. Back in 2020, he battled 2 Chainz, running through his hits including “Diced Pineapples,” “Aston Martin Music,” and more.

Elsewhere in the live stream, Swizz Beatz and Timbaland confirmed that they still own Verzuz, despite the previous sale to Triller. “Verzuz is still 100 percent Black-owned,” Swizz said on the broadcast. “50 percent on the top of your screen, and 50 percent on the bottom of your screen. In case you ain’t know. Word to Allah. Okay? It was built for the people, and it will stay with the people. And we love everybody.”

William Wolf, who is white, spit a few solid bars at his opponent, Philly’s Avenue C , saying, “I ain’t like these other battle rappers, they talk too much, saying I can’t use the n-word in this battle, my n***a….” Before he could get the last word out of his mouth, Avenue C delivered a hard right jab to Wolf’s mouth.

The two were separated by other onlookers but not before William Wolf was fully embarrassed by Avenue C.. See the footage above.

Cassidy Says He’s Not Interested In Battling Meek Mill

Cassidy says he has no interest in taking on Meek Mill in a rap battle, despite their past beef. He discussed the state of his feud with his fellow Philadelphia rapper during an interview on Vlad TV. In doing so, Cassidy explained that he doesn’t view Meek Mill as a battle rapper and that he has so many other things going on in his career, that he probably wouldn’t be interested either.

“Salute to Meek, but, he ain’t battle rap,” he said to outlet. “Like, maybe he battled back in the day to try to get on, like to try to get people familiar with what he do. There’s a bunch of people that did that. But still, they wouldn’t consider themselves battle rappers.”

He continued: “Maybe that’s the cloth he was cut from back then, but it’s been so much time, and him doing other shit, and on music, and then a different bag, that I’m not even sure if he’s interested in battle rapping. … We kinda already had our own little battle, but I’m not interested in battling nobody. Long as the business is right, they could pick whoever I battle.”

The beef between Cassidy and Meek Mill began over a decade ago at this point. Back in 2013, things reached a high point when the two traded a series of freestyles aimed at dissing one another. Despite his animosity with Meek Mill, Cassidy recently revealed that he once tried to sign him. During a recent interview with the African Cultural Art Forum (ACAF), he explained that he simply couldn’t offer Meek what he needed at the time. “It wasn’t like I was super connected to the machine,” he said. “I was moving towards the independent direction. So I was offering him distribution, but more in like an independent way, [however] maybe he wanted to be more on the major side.” Check Cassidy’s discussion with Vlad TV below.

URL Battle League Releases Full Card For Biggest Event Of The Year Streaming Exclusively on Caffeine

Screen Shot 2022 09 24 at 12.18.19 PM

The Ultimate Rap League (URL) announces its highly-anticipated Summer Madness 12 (SM12) card, bringing together some of the biggest names in battle rap to go head-to-head in this one-night-only event. The sold out event will take place on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at 3 p.m. EDT / 12 p.m. PDT from the World Night Club in Charlotte, NC and will be broadcasted live on URL’s Caffeine channel. Battles from the event will start to stream exclusively on The Ultimate Rap League’s App soon after their debut.

For over a decade, the Summer Madness series has been the most anticipated card of the year for battle rap fans, pairing artists who have consistently wrecked stages over the last year, and defining themselves as the most requested emcees on the league’s roster.  This year, social broadcasting platform, Caffeine, will bring each battle to audiences around the globe, as fans can tune-in and interact throughout the event.

The featured battles on SM12 are Tsu Surf vs. JC, Tay Roc vs. Swamp, Easy the Block Captain vs. Calicoe, Chess vs. Shotgun Suge, and Danny Myers vs. Fonz.

This year’s event has been heralded as the “Gun Show,” as one of battle rap’s most dangerous crew, Gun Titles, is headlining, further solidifying the URL as the world’s most respected MC battle arena.

Tsu Surf, who has arguably not lost one round in a battle for at least three years, and Tay Roc, the undisputed “Face of URL,” lead the collective of heat-spitters on this night of battles. Chess and Easy the Block Captain, two emcees who had the showing of the night at last year’s SM11, are sure to bring their grit, street talk, and performance to the event, further leaning into the mystique usually associated with the card.

“This year, Summer Madness 12 sold out before we announced the third battle. This affirms one thing, the URL has a level of favor with our fans, where they can trust we will deliver a fire card,” owner and founder, Troy “Smack White” Mitchell stated.

Adding, “And from the feedback we have been getting from our valued supporters, we not only completed the objective, bringing to the culture an amazing event, but we saluted some of the culture’s hardest working emcees like Calicoe (who arguably had the greatest battle in history and also a war waged a Summer Madness stage), Shotgun Suge (who is a contender for battler of the year with a flawless 2022 record), JC (our Ultimate Madness 5 winner), Swamp and Fonz (two of the most formidable emcees on our roster).”

Smack concluded, “The Gun Titles are electrifying, but if they are to dominate these top-notch competitors and fan favorites, they got to come correct. It is going to be a blood bath up there!”

Like every marquee event over the last 12 years, SM12 promises to build on that tradition with our streaming partner.

LOADED LUX VS GEECHI GOTTI HOSTED BY DRAKE URLTV 16 37 screenshot

One of the legends of battle rap in Harlem’s Loaded Lux has recently faced off front and center with the current face of the new era of battle rap, the tried, tested, and battle-hardened Geechi Gotti from the West Coast on SMACK / URLTV via CaffeineTV. A close battle with hip hop and battle rap fans alike divided undoubtedly lived up to expectations, and check the memorable reactions from both Drake and Cassidy, who were front row in the building. Watch the near hour-long lyrical exchange below, hosted by Drake himself, as he continues his long-running embracement of battle rap.

This battle went down over five months ago on Geechi Gotti’s home turf, proving to be a difficult and, at times, silently hostile crowd for Lux. They certainly had to rap his way through periods of no reactions from those in the building at the time as the final battle on the star-studded crowd. It will be interesting to see where these two go next in terms of battle rap – with a widely speculated Hitman Holla vs. Geechi Gotti battle rumored to be well in the works for potentially later this year. As for one of the GOATs of battle rap, a potential upcoming match-up for Loaded Lux could include either King Los, Conceited, Rum Nitty or Pat Stay.
