Post Malone found himself in a strange predicament involving a 12-carat diamond. In a cover story interview with Esquire magazine that delved into various aspects of his life and career, Post Malone recounted the amusing yet anxiety-inducing incident that unfolded during a tour stop in Rome. The rapper told a story about a time that he lost an expensive gem in the sewer. During the interview, he expanded on the time when he momentarily lost the jaw-dropping $600,000 diamond fang that was embedded in one of his teeth. He also said he was indulging in a casual meal of McDonald’s chicken nuggets during the time, before he dropped it.

“I had the left one in my hand, and I dropped it right into the sink hole,” he told Esquire. “I’m like, ‘F**k, man, I’m going to have to go into the ancient Roman sewers.’” Fortunately, Post Malone shared that he was able to recover the diamond tooth decoration by using a make-shift technique. He was resourceful and was able to create an impromptu toolkit which consisted of pliers and a make-shift tripod from a takeout pizza box.

Post Malone‘s new album, Austin, features him showcasing a different side of himself. Though much of his projects have been pop- and hip-hop-inspired, Austin is largely comprised of Post delivering vocals over acoustic instrumentals. He also opens up about mental health, addiction, and the consequences of fame on this particular record.

In conjunction with Austin, Malone, whose real name is Austin Post, the artist made an appearance on Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast. During the interview, Malone opened up about his experiences with childhood bullying while living in upstate New York.

“I’ve always been kind of an introverted kid,” said Malone. “I loved to express, I love making music forever, I love playing games. Weird, a little weirdo.”

He continued, explaining that even after moving to Grapevine, Texas, where he spent much of his youth and teenage years, the bullying didn’t slow down.

“I moved when I was nine, and then I used to get bullied a whole bunch in school,” he said. “I guess for dressing the way I did. We wore skinny jeans and all that stuff, and that was just kind of like a new deal. I don’t know. And people would throw gum in my hair…Kids are mean.”

Thankfully, it looks like being a good guy paid off for Malone.

As difficult as it may be to believe, Post Malone is four albums deep into his artistry, with another one on the way. The rapper’s forthcoming project, Austin, will hit streaming platforms at the end of the week. Through a series of social media posts, Malone promised that this release is not going to be like anything fans have heard thus far from him, as he’s a completely different person than when he entered the industry.

In a note uploaded to Instagram, the musician shared a note to fans about the project. “This whole deal has been one of the most challenging, rewarding, and exciting records I’ve worked on. I feel it captures who I am as a man and as an artist in this moment. thank y’all so much for your patience, and thank you for being there with me in my hardest times. I love y’all so much,” penned Malone.

Post Malone Is Playing A Free Show In New York City To Christen Times Square’s Newest Attraction

New York’s Times Square recently erected a new permanent outdoor stage, and today, the first performance to take place there has been announced. Post Malone will be the first to perform on the TSX stage, giving a free concert including songs from his upcoming album, Austin. He made the announcement in a typical low key way on Twitter, although billboards promoting the concert went up in Times Square announcing the show as well. The show’s scheduled for 5 PM.

If you’re not going to be in New York City today to see the concert, have no fear. He’s currently on his If Y’all Weren’t Here I’d Be Crying tour, which heads up north to Ontario, Canada tomorrow, then makes an East Coast swing, circling around to the Southwest in August (you can see the setlist here). Meanwhile, Post has been prepping fans for the release of the album with the singles “Chemical,” “Mourning,” and “Overdrive.”

In a video message to fans, he broke down the importance of the album’s title. “That is my name,” he said. “It’s been some of the funnest music, some of the most challenging and rewarding music, for me at least. You know, trying to really push myself and really do some cool stuff. I played guitar on every song on the record and it was a really, really fun experience, and I’m super, super excited to share it with you.”

Post Malone Comes Through With A Ballad On New Single “Overdrive”

Ahead of his upcoming album AUSTIN, Post Malone just dropped another single from the project titled “Overdrive.” Despite what the song’s title might have you believe, this is actually a softer cut that functions more like a ballad with its instrumentation, tempo, and vocal style. Sure, this is far from the first time that the Texas artist worked with more indie-rock, alt-rock, or even singer-songwriter sounds in his discography. That being said, this is still definitely one of the most overt and well-crafted examples of that in his hit-filled repertoire. On “Overdrive,” Post champions simplicity as his way forward, keeping things short, sweet, and structurally swelling.

Furthermore, on that last point, the track’s melodic and harmonic elements come from some simple piano chords, guitar strumming, and a string arrangement that pops out here and there. As such, the strings are what really elevate “Overdrive” and give it some forward momentum, coming in and out of the mix at various points. Elsewhere, Post Malone’s vocal melody is fitting for this type of track, as is the slinky bassline and melancholy guitar riff. Considering his career trajectory, this hints at a very compelling direction for the 28-year-old’s next full-length, as he fits this ballad mold quite well. His vocals soar without excessive tampering, the chord progression changes are tasteful, and he presented some interesting lyrical themes.

Moreover, the single seems to be about wanting to change yourself to be with another person. Also, Post mentions living his life on “overdrive,” which could refer to his fame or to how quickly he goes through the motions. We are just two weeks away from Post Malone‘s upcoming fifth album, Austin. Ahead of the album, he has dropped “Overdrive,” his reflective new song.

On “Overdrive,” Malone looks back throughout his career and imagines how he would make things easier for himself and his family.

“I spend my nights on overdrive / I live my life so uninspired / There ain’t no angels in this world / So I live my life on overdrive,” he sings, over a sobering percussive instrumental.

Austin is shaping up to be Malone’s most personal record yet, as his songs have offered introspective looks into his life. The lead single, “Chemical,” features him detailing his struggles with mental illness. “Mourning” delivers poignant and heartbreaking accounts of alcoholism. It is worth noting that none of the songs on the album’s revealed tracklist contain any features.

The past year has been a big one for Malone, as he welcomed a baby girl, performed on tour after sustaining injuries, and even opened an all-pink Raising Cane’s store in Utah. This past Earth Day, he interviewed a group of astronauts at the International Space Station.

Fans are looking forward to hearing Malone’s guitar-driven Austin later this month, and getting a glimpse into his journey.

Now that he’s comfortably settled into his role as a first-time father, Post Malone is eager to get back to his full-time career as a musician. Since sharing Twelve Carat Toothache in June 2022, a lot has changed for the New York-born star, from his physical appearance to the operations of his day-to-day life. Much of that is likely to come up throughout his fifth studio album, AUSTIN, which he announced in May.

On Monday (June 26), Posty confirmed the release date for the project – July 28th – via Twitter. “My new record ‘AUSTIN’ has 17 songs,” he excitedly shared along with the other news. “Here’s a snippet of one of ’em, I love you!!!” the “Congratulations” singer’s message ended. Beneath, a 30-second teaser reveals what’s likely to be the album’s next single, as well as the complete tracklist and cover art.

Post Malone Announces 5th Studio Album, Teases Song Snippet

The highly anticipated release will begin with “Don’t Understand” and “Something Real,” two new songs before we move into familiar territory with his first single of 2023. Other interesting names we can’t wait to hear include “Novacandy,” “Too Cool To Die,” “Socialite,” and “Texas Tea.” Interestingly, no features are included on the list. Seeing as Malone frequently collaborates with friends in the industry, it’s likely he’ll begin to reveal who he’s worked with as AUSTIN‘s debut nears closer. On 2022’s LP, he connected with Roddy Ricch, Doja Cat, Gunna, The Weeknd, and others.

Post Malone Is ‘Mourning’ A Past Version Of Himself On His New Single

Post Malone is gearing up for the release of his fifth studio album, Austin, and with the pair of songs he’s released thus far, it sounds like it’ll be his most personal to date. On the first single, “Chemical,” he addresses his mental health and his addictions, displaying a desire to change, no matter how hard it seems.

Now, on “Mourning,” he painfully describes the process of getting sober, and dealing with the fact that he is forced to face the emotions he had been numbing for years.

“Don’t want to sober up / The sun is killin’ my buzz, that’s why they call it ‘mourning’ / Thought I was strong enough / Threw my bottle at the sky, said, ‘God, that’s a warning’ / Don’t wanna sober up / Try to keep it inside but I just wanna pour it / Thought I was strong enough Got a lot of sh*t to say, couldn’t fit it in the chorus,” he sings on the song’s chorus.

While he has more music on the way this summer, Post has been giving a hand at other endeavors, like an all-pink Raising Cane’s restaurant in Utah. He also recently helped a fan put a down payment on a home in Scotland.

Post Malone Announces “If Y’all Weren’t Here, I’d Be Crying” North American Tour

Post Malone has announced that he will be embarking on a North American tour titled, If Y’all Weren’t Here, I’d Be Crying, later this year. The news comes ahead of the release of Malone’s fifth album, Austin. The project will release on July 28. Additionally, Post Malone will be releasing a new single titled “Mourning,” on Friday, May 19.

“I love y’all so very much, and I’m so excited to get out and do some more shows for y’all,” Post wrote in an announcement on Instagram. “Help me put a baby through college, and come on out [cheers emoji] some cool new production, new songs, and a very very handsome man up on stage. Sending love to you and yours.”
