Rihanna Is Pregnant With Her First Child With ASAP Rocky

After years of mostly unfounded rumors and speculation, it has finally happened — Rihanna is pregnant with her first child. Go figure, it’d take a pandemic to finally fulfill every gossip blogger’s dream — and every R9 hopeful’s worst nightmare. People magazine confirmed the pregnancy, posting a photo of Rihanna and her partner ASAP Rocky out on the town in New York, with Rihanna sporting a cropped top to show off her baby bump. You can check out the photos below.

Naturally, the news has Rihanna fans going ballistic on Twitter. Rihanna herself shot down pregnancy rumors as recently as a month ago, joking, “Y’all breed me every year dammit,” on Instagram. However, it looks like this time, the fans were right and they aren’t being shy about celebrating — and lamenting that she may have finished making a whole human from scratch before her long-awaited follow-up to Anti, which crossed its six-year anniversary over the weekend. And some fans just seemed distraught that they have “missed their chance” with the singer — insomuch as that number was very technically non-zero in the first place.

Meanwhile, poor Drake is catching the worst of it, considering how long he openly crushed on Rihanna. Their relationship was short-lived, but that isn’t stopping fans from flaming him up too over the news.

ASAP Rocky Joins Nigo To Flex His Riches On The Braggadocios ‘Arya’

At the end of last year, fashion designer and producer Nigo revealed that his first album in nearly two decades was on the way. The upcoming project, titled I Know Nigo, is set to drop at some point this year and it’ll feature Tyler The Creator, Kid Cudi, Pusha T, Lil Uzi Vert, the Teriyaki Boyz, and more. I Know Nigo is handled by Steven Victor who is Pusha T and the late Pop Smoke’s manager. The album also includes an appearance from ASAP Rocky who appear on “Arya,” the newest single from I Know Nigo.

The track is a laid-back braggadocios release that sees Rocky flexing his riches and how it places him above the completion. It’s a satisfying offering from Harlem rapper who hasn’t delivered an album, and much music at that, since his 2018 project Testing. The new song gives big promise for what the rapper has to offer as many wait for his fourth album, which is tentatively titled All Smiles.

He previously revealed that the project will come with contributions from The Smiths’ lead vocalist Morrissey. “Anything you need him to do, he show up and do,” Rocky said about the singer during a GQ interview last year. He added that the two spent some time remotely working on the album, which Rocky described as a “ghetto love tale” and “way more mature” than his previous projects.

You can listen to “Arya” in the video above.

ASAP Rocky, J. Cole, And Future Will Headline Rolling Loud’s Inaugural Event In Portugal

After two years’ delay, Rolling Loud’s inaugural Portugal edition has a new date, July 6-8, 2022, and a new headliner joining mainstays ASAP Rocky and Future, who were carried over from the two previous lineup announcements for 2020 and 2021. This time, they’ll be joined by J. Cole after 2020 headliner DaBaby landed in hot water over his Rolling Loud Miami appearance in 2021 and Wiz Khalifa, the planned third headliner for the postponed 2021 edition of the Portugal fest, dropped out for unknown reasons.

If the festival doesn’t get pushed back again, it’ll be the first Europe-based edition of the popular traveling hip-hop event, which has also taken over its hometown, Miami, New York, Los Angeles, and the Bay Area in recent years. The most recent iteration of the festival was held in December 2021 at the National Orange Show event center in San Bernardino, headlined by J. Cole, Future, and Kid Cudi.

The new lineup for Portugal has made some changes down the flyer, as well. While names like A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Meek Mill, Playboi Carti, and Polo G have moved on, emergent stars like City Morgue, Don Toliver, Lil Baby, Sleepy Hallow, and more have joined the show. Meanwhile, a number of UK-based names remain billed to perform, with the addition of fast-rising newcomer Central Cee, whose second mixtape, 23, is set for release in February.

Tickets go on sale Friday, January 28. As usual, you can find more information on RollingLoud.com.

Kid Cudi, ASAP Rocky, And Playboi Carti Headline The Smoker’s Club Fest’s Unbelievable One-Day Lineup

Fancying itself a hip-hop and cannabis festival, The Smoker’s Club Fest is returning on April 30th for the first time since 2018. This year’s affair is going down at the Live Nation-operated Glen Helen Amphitheater in San Bernardino, CA and has Kid Cudi, ASAP Rocky, and Playboi Carti atop the bill. But it’s the rest of the lineup for the all-ages festival that’s really unbelievable, especially when you consider that it’s all going down in a single day.

Directly below the headliners are Schoolboy Q performing Oxymoron and Wiz Khalifa playing Kush & Orange Juice. They’re followed by 2 Chainz and Ferg, and a bit further down is Lupe Fiasco playing Food & Liquor. Again, this is all in one day?? There’s also Joey Badass, Flatbush Zombies, Danny Brown, Dom Kennedy, Larry June, Uproxx cover stars Wale and Rico Nasty, Earl Sweatshirt, Ab-Soul, Jay Rock, and we can go on, but check out the poster that the festival posted to their Instagram account today:

This is a pretty insane hip-hop lineup that could easily be spread apart across two or even three days. It’ll be interesting to see how they pull it off.

The Smoker’s Club festival goes down on 04/30 in San Bernardino, CA. Ticketing pre-sale begins on Monday 01/24 at 10am PST. You can sign up for the pre-sale code now here.

Rihanna’s Response To Pregnancy Rumors Came Through An Instagram DM With A Fan

For the umpteenth time in her career, Rihanna faced pregnancy rumors earlier this week after many claimed to spot a baby bump on her. It came after her appearance at a ceremony that celebrated her home country of Barbados’ independence from 400 years of British rule. The rumors caused many to congratulate Rihanna and her boyfriend ASAP Rocky on social media while others were left to wallow in sadness at the news. One fan took the opportunity to reach out to Rihanna to see if the news was true or not. The singer replied with nothing but jokes about the rumors while also denying them.

“Can I come to the baby shower!? [skull and heart emojis],” the fan inquired. “True or not your babies are going to be beautiful! sorry everyone’s up in your uterus right now [laughing and skull emojis]. In response, Rihanna wrote, “Haaaaa! Stawwwp! You ain’t come to the first 10 baby showers! Y’all breed me every year dammit lol.”

The last time that Rihanna was hit with pregnancy rumors came at the end of 2019 following an appearance at the Diamond Ball. A Givenchy Haute Couture mermaid gown she wore pushed many to believe that she was sporting a baby bump. In other news, Rihanna recently released an epic catalogue-spanning vinyl collection titled, Rih-Issue.

ASAP Rocky’s Breakout Mixtape ‘Live.Love.ASAP’ Is Now Available To Stream

For artists who broke out right when the streaming era was approaching, figuring out when and how to get old releases up on the platforms can take time. Or, for rappers who spent their early years releasing free mixtapes, sometimes the process of clearing samples and getting music totally legal is part of the delay, too. Either way, ASAP Rocky delighted fans recently when he let them know that his very first project, Live.Love.ASAP was officially going to be added to streaming services. The date he chose may be more for posterity than anything else, though. It’s been exactly ten years since the project was released, so now he’s letting a wider group of listeners have access to the tape that helped put him on the map.

After a rough 2019, when he faced a stint in prison in Sweden, Rocky has been doing better than ever of late. Long-standing rumors that he was dating Rihanna finally manifested, and the pair appear to be going very strong. Actually, do I even need to list anything else going on in his life or career aside from that fact? It kind of speaks for itself. Let’s just say his latest collab with Maxo Kream is solid as well, and this look from the Red Hot Chili Peppers isn’t a small thing, either.

Check out Live.Love.ASAP below.

ASAP Rocky Will Put ‘Live.Love.ASAP’ On Streaming Platforms In Time For Its Tenth Anniversary

ASAP Rocky’s rap career received a huge boost in 2011 when he released his debut mixtape Live.Love.ASAP. It was celebrated as one of the best mixtapes from that time period, boasting fan favorites like “Peso” and “Purple Swag.” It also helped him secure a record deal with RCA and Polo Grounds, leading to his debut album, entitled Long.Live.ASAP, which he released two years later and which spawned hits like “F*ckin’ Problems,” with Drake, 2 Chainz, and Kendrick Lamar. Nearly ten years later, Rocky announced something big for its upcoming anniversary.

HighSnobreity reports that the mixtape will hit platforms like Apple Music, Spotify, and Tidal on October 29, just two days before its tenth anniversary. Rocky joins a cadre of artists who have uploaded their old mixtapes or unofficial releases to streaming platforms years after they were released. The most recent example is Mac Miller’s Faces, which debuted at No. 3 on the albums chart nearly two weeks after it was re-released. Others include Drake, who added his mixtape So Far Gone to DSPs. Joey Badass (1999), Chance The Rapper (Acid Rap), Wiz Khalifa (Kush & OJ), The Weeknd (House Of Balloons), and more have also done similar things.

The news comes after Rocky connected with Houston rapper Maxo Kream for “Streets Alone.”

Young Thug Isn’t Quite A ‘Punk’ On His Latest, But Offers Up Some Of His Most Compelling Music Yet

The RX is Uproxx Music’s stamp of approval for the best albums, songs, and music stories throughout the year. Inclusion in this category is the highest distinction we can bestow and signals the most important music being released throughout the year. The RX is the music you need, right now.

Leave it to Thugger to continue to push the boundaries of what we should expect from him. After the success of his debut album So Much Fun, you’d think he’d lean further into the simple trap aesthetics that worked so well there, but instead, he takes a drastic stylistic departure akin to his “country” experiment Beautiful Thugger Girls on his latest album, Punk. However, despite its name, Punk is surprisingly low on power chords and rushed drumming, focusing instead on atmospheric, mellow production that sounds almost folksy.

It’s always been Thug’s way to make a left when everyone else expects him to make a right. Consider the mush-mouthed, yet irresistible chorus from 2014’s “Lifestyle” or the sartorially challenging cover from 2016’s Jeffery — both prime examples of Thug’s tendency to zig instead of zag while still adhering to a core of solid trap-rap fundamentals. Punk finds him again experimenting with sound and style but remaining as true as ever to his core aesthetic. In fact, it’s arguably the truest he’s ever been to himself — or at least, the most honest.

Starting with the very first song on the album, “Die Slow,” Thug is more revelatory here than he’s ever been. Over soft, poetry-house guitar strumming, Thug reveals childhood traumas, a prescient political outlook, and almost militant defiance toward being categorized, demeaned, or held back by societal expectations. Elsewhere on the album, the contrarian production leans tender, like some of the most emotive R&B ballads of the last ten years or so. “Insure My Wrist” is the most romantic ode to jewelry that hip-hop has produced in at least that span, which would be borderline surprising if Young Thug didn’t have a well-established history of being Young Thug.

“Love You More” also surprises, with its Nate Ruess and Jeff Bhasker appearances — but then again, it doesn’t, because Thug once sampled Elton John’s “Rocket Man,” sparking a years-long friendship that led to glowing assessments of Thugger’s talent from the knighted one himself. It’s also a gracious rumination on a relationship mostly bereft of Thugger’s usual cartoonish depictions of sex (although there is one line that reads as more considerate than jokey). Again, eyebrow-raising were it not from the same gentlemen whose catalog of hits includes “Best Friend,” a deceptively encouraging self-love anthem.

That isn’t to say he doesn’t go at least a little hardcore. While “Rich N**** Shit” with Juice WRLD is relatively far from Dead Kennedys — they’re philosophically opposite, on top of the sonic differences — the two rappers go for broke over a thumping, bass-turned-to-eleven beat with some good, old-fashion chest-thumping braggadocio. Meanwhile, the moody “Day Before” brings things full-circle with another confessional, ukulele-strumming introspective jam featuring Mac Miller. The punk promise here comes from the revelation that the song was literally recorded just one day before Mac’s tragic passing.

Thug brings out the best of his other guests on Punk, as well — particularly J. Cole, who stops just shy of a Thug impression on “Stressed,” a rejuvenated ASAP Rocky on “Livin It Up,” and Doja Cat on “Icy Hot.” While the tracklist feels excessive at times, the runtime comes across smooth, even with the bloat. As to why it’s called Punk, I think it boils down to Thug’s very personality. He’s always been anti-establishment, even as he slowly but surely became the establishment.

This album is his way of shaking himself loose from the tendency to stagnate and calcify as complacency sets in. He isn’t completely successful — perhaps a few more sonic cues from the rock world could have woken up some of the sleepier melodic songs — but the record is unapologetic, one-hundred-percent Thug. What’s more punk than being yourself? Maybe it’s just being willing to redefine exactly what that means, even if it’s just a little bit at a time.

Punk is out now via Atlantic Records and YSL. Get it here.

Red Hot Chili Peppers’ 2022 Tour Has Amazing Openers, Including ASAP Rocky, St. Vincent, And Many More

Last month, Red Hot Chili Peppers had some fun announcing a tour, doing so with an off-kilter parody news broadcast. They didn’t announce the dates for the shows at the time, but now, in a follow-up video, they have.

The band will travel the world between June and September next year, and they’ll be joined by a particularly impressive roster of openers: The Strokes, St. Vincent, ASAP Rocky, King Princess, Haim, Beck, Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals, and Thundercat.

Red Hot Chili Peppers’ most recent album is 2016’s The Getaway. They haven’t yet announced a new LP, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see them drop one before or around when these tour dates kick off next summer.

Rihanna Forgot To Bring Her ID To A Bar, So The Bouncer Refused To Let Her In Despite Her Being Rihanna

There are some people who are real sticklers for the rules. Every kid you know who wanted to be the hall monitor ended up working in law enforcement, some ended up as middle management at a large corporation, and one, apparently, became the bouncer at New York nightspot Barcade, where Rihanna was refused entry after the internationally famous superstar, whose face and name are global institutions, who has been on TV since she was 17 (16 years ago!)… forgot her ID. Let’s go to the tape:

So, a couple of things here. One: Rihanna and ASAP Rocky are an adorable couple albeit a slightly unconventional one. Two: What on Earth is this bouncer thinking? Look, man, I get it: Rules are rules. But look here, wannabe Captain America. That is Rihanna. Rihanna, who, again, has been famous for over 15 years. Whose age is readily and easily Googleable for anyone who owns a smartphone — which in 2021, includes approximately 85% of the American population. Maybe this bouncer just really needed this job, perhaps he lives in a pineapple under the sea that gets no internet, radio, or television reception, or maybe his boss was one of those aforementioned hall monitor kids and just could not abide making an exception for anyone, but whatever the case, it’s truly one of the most baffling celebrity-related incidents to take place this week… A week that also included both Meghan McCain and Piers Morgan commenting on Britney Spears’ conservatorship and Trick Daddy claiming Beyonce “can’t sing.”

Naturally, Twitter users are beside themselves as a result. A recurring theme seems to be an undercurrent of spiteful glee at the singer’s predicament, a perceived punishment for not releasing a new album in five years. Fortunately for the couple, they eventually got in, according to Buzzfeed, and a wonderful date night was had by all… except for that bouncer, who should really invest in a Spotify account or something.
