Angel Reese Reveals Breakup. Says She’s “Not Ready To Mingle”

Angel Reese has revealed tha she has broken up with her partner, FSU basketball player Cam’Ron Fletcher. “I’m single. I don’t got no man. Don’t attach me to no man. That’s all Imma say. That’s it. I’m not ready to mingle. I am single, but I’m not ready to mingle. I’m just focusing on my college career. I’m focusing on school. That’s all I’m focused on right now and I’m focused on me. I’m not focused on nobody else,” Reese announced on Instagram. The couple had been together since June 2023.

However, Reese won’t have much time to be in her feelings about the breakup. Reese will lead LSU into March Madness this week, where they will look to defend their 2023 title as a three-seed. However, after they open their tournament against Rice on Friday, things will only get harder for the Tigers. Their quarter of the bracket includes UCLA as a two-seed and Iowa as a one-seed, teams that LSU will have to beat to progress to the final four.

Angel Reese Calls Out Barstool Sports For “Double Standards”

Elsewhere, Reese criticized Barstool Sports for a “double standard” in how they reported on two instances of the same celebration. “Lol I’ve seen this before,” Reese said in response to a post on X about Barstool‘s reporting of celebrations performed by Ja Morant and Quinn Ewers. On December 26, Ja Morant faced scrutiny for performing the “Rock Ya Hips”, a dance move popularized in New Orleans. Morant used it to troll the Pelicans. However, the celebration was initially misreported as a gunfire celebration. “Ja spraying imaginary bullets into section 113 after slam,” was the way that Barstool reported it on social media. However, when Texas QB Quinn Ewers did the same celebration during the Sugar Bowl, Barstool said that Ewers was “having fun”.

Of course, Reese is no stranger to the ire of Barstool. The outlet, and its founder Dave Portnoy, were some of the biggest critics of Reese after she hit Tony Yayo‘s “You Can’t See Me” during the National Championship. Barstool‘s coverage has long been criticized for racial bias, especially against Black athletes.

South Carolina & LSU Bench-Clearing Brawl Leads To Several Ejections & An Arrest

A bench-clearing brawl during the South Carolina-LSU game on Sunday led to several ejections as well as an arrest. With two minutes left in the SEC Tournament championship, South Carolina’s MiLaysia Fulwiley stole the ball from LSU’s Flau’jae Johnson, who then fouled Fulwiley to prevent an easy layup.

After the play, Johnson threw an elbow at Ashlyn Watkins. Kamilla Cardoso quickly retaliated by shoving Johnson to the ground. From there, the benches emptied and a police officer jumped onto the court to chase down a fan, who was reportedly later revealed to have been Johnson’s brother.

Angel Reese Gets Auburn Revenge, Another Big 10 Top Seed Falls

Maryland stunning Ohio State was just the first of several major storylines to dominate the first Friday of Championship Week in women’s basketball. After losing to Auburn earlier in the season, Angel Reese and LSU beat the Tigers by 30 to progress to the semifinals of the SEC tournament. Reese had 18 points and 11 rebounds while Flau’jae Johnson had a game-high 25 points. However, there was more drama in the Big Ten as Michigan felled tournament three-seed Indiana. Indiana had won five of their last six meetings with the Wolverines. Michigan will now play Caitlin Clark and Iowa for a place in Sunday’s final.

Meanwhile, Stanford reached the Pac-12 final with a comeback win against Oregon State. The Cardinal trailed by as much as nine in the first half. However, they rallied behind superstar senior Cameron Brink to win 66-57. They will face USC and freshman phenom JuJu Watkins on Sunday. Elsewhere, the Atlantic 10’s two-team bid hopes all but died as George Mason, VCU, and Saint Joseph’s all lost.

Angel Reese And LSU Stars Name Their All-Time Basketball Starting Lineups

Reese and LSU are hoping to repeat as NCAA champions. That hasn’t happened since the UConn four-peat between 2013 and 2016. Earlier in the season, Reese and several of her LSU teammates namely their all-time basketball starting lineups. Reese kicked things off with a twist. “I’m starting strong with Lisa Leslie,” Reese said before filling her lineup out with Cheryl Miller, Kobe, Shaq, and most surprisingly, LSU head coach Kim Mulkey. Mulkey was a national championship-winning point guard with LA Tech in the early 80s. Sophomore Flau’jae Johnson also named Mulkey to her lineup and also agreed with Reese on Shaq. However, Johnson also picked Dwyane Wade, Tim Duncan, and Allen Iverson.

Meanwhile, new transfer Hailey Van Lith went in a different direction entirely. After naming Kobe and the aforementioned Lisa Leslie, Van Lith also selected Becky Hammon, Kevin Garnett, and Micheal Jordan. “That’s a tough starting five, right there. Mad tough,” Van Lith said of her team. LSU faces Ole Miss in the SEC Tournament semifinals, with either South Carolina or Tennessee waiting in Sunday’s final.

Is Angel Reese Declaring For The WNBA Draft? Fans Eye Senior Day For Potential Announcement

Angel Reese could make her intentions about her future known later today as LSU closes out its regular season with a home game against Kentucky. However, the game will also serve as LSU’s Senior Day, namely for Reese and Hailey Van Lith. However, whether it will be Reese’s final regular season game at the college level remains to be seen. Reese could declare for the WNBA Draft, following the example of Caitlin Clark. Despite this, she could opt to use her COVID waiver year, like UConn’s Paige Bueckers.

Earlier in the week, a cryptic tweet from Reese led fans to deduce that she is preparing to announce what direction her immediate future takes. “Should I stay, should I go? I don’t know,” Reese tweeted over a tribute video for LSU’s Senior Day. The quote stems from the 1998 track “I Don’t Know” from Keb’ Mo’. As mentioned, Reese has one more year of eligibility. Furthermore, she is one of the nation’s top NIL earners.

Angel Reese Joins Elite LSU Club With 2000th Point

Meanwhile, Angel Reese became the sixth LSU WBB player to score 2000 points as she surpassed the mark in a dominant win over Tennessee. Reese joined Joyce Walker, Seimone Augustus, Julie Gross, Cornelia Grayden, and Sylvia Fowles in the exclusive club. Reese began her career at Maryland, where she scored 719 points. However, she is now forever linked with the Tigers. Reese’s mark hit 2006 after scoring 11 against the Volunteers.

Reese and LSU are second in the SEC. However, that is as close to a regular season title as they will get this season after South Carolina guaranteed themselves that honor for the eighth time in 11 seasons. Instead, Reese and company will look to finish out the season against Kentucky before turning their attention to the SEC tournament and then, a March Madness tournament they will enter as defending champions. LSU is currently a three-seed in ESPN‘s latest bracketology.

Angel Reese Teases Decision On Future

A cryptic tweet from Angel Reese has led fans to deduce that she is preparing to announce whether she will return to LSU next year or declare for the WNBA. “Should I stay, should I go? I don’t know,” Reese tweeted over a tribute video posted about her upcoming senior day on March 3. The quote stems from the 1998 track “I Don’t Know” from Keb’ Mo’. Reese has one more year of college eligibility and is one of the nation’s top NIL earners.

In ESPN‘s most recent WNBA mock draft, Michael Voepel projected Reese going sixth overall to the Washington Mystics. This was a slight rise from the eighth overall pick Voepel originally had Reese at. However, this was less due to Reese’s play and more because of external factors. Reese, who has been playing well, was always going to rise after Paige Bueckers announced that she would remain at UConn next season.

Angel Reese Calls Out Barstool Sports For “Double Standards”

However, Reese isn’t just comfortable taking shots on the court. Last month, Reese criticized Barstool Sports for a “double standard” in how they reported on two instances of the same celebration. “Lol I’ve seen this before,” Reese said in response to a post on X about Barstool‘s reporting of celebrations performed by Ja Morant and Quinn Ewers. Shaq Is A “Father Figure” To Angel Reese, LSU Star Declares

Angel Reese has called Shaq a “father figure” during a wide-ranging interview that she and other members of LSU did with USA Today. “There’s really strong parallels in their personalities. They love people, they welcome the spotlight that comes with stardom, they both have a great love for this school and an enthusiasm for life,” said Bob Starkey, an LSU assistant coach. During his long tenure in Baton Rouge, Starkey has coached both Shaq and Reese.

Furthermore, Reese used “father figure” to describe Shaq, saying she didn’t see him as a role model or basketball mentor. They have a light airy relationship, which ranges from Shaq giving Reese business advice to Reese roasting Shaq if he is ever spotted out with a woman. Additionally, Reese said she plans to have Shaq walk with her on Senior Day, an honor typically reserved for family members. If Reese plans to declare for the WNBA this year, Senior Day will likely be LSU’s regular-season finale at home against Kentucky.

Angel Reese & LSU Prepare For Undefeated South Carolina

However, LSU doesn’t look like a team ready to repeat as national champions right now. They are 18-2, having suffered losses to then-No. 20 Colorado and unranked Auburn. And now, they have a game that will likely decide the SEC regular-season title despite it only being late January. Tonight (January 25) sees Reese and the Tigers welcome No. 1 South Carolina to Baton Rouge.

Despite losing all five starters from last year’s Final Four team and the 2022 National Championship-winning roster, the Gamecocks are somehow even better this year. Notably, the offensive output of South Carolina is currently on pace to be the highest of the Dawn Staley era, which began in 2008. And for LSU head coach Kim Mulkey, her biggest worry is whether Reese and company can withstand the onslaught. “Where we’re not polished is on the defensive end of the floor and sacrificing our bodies and taking charges and keeping people in front of you, getting back in transition defense,” Mulkey said earlier in the season.
