6lack Is Walking On Air In His New Video For ‘Since I Have A Lover’

6lack is back with the first taste of his hotly anticipated third album, Since I Have A Lover. Today, he has shared the album’s title track. On the tune, the singer is happy in love, and sings about the bubbly feeling he gets around his titular lover.

“Feel like a million bucks or somethin’ / Feel like we need to be up to somethin’ / Not tryna press my luck or nothin’ / Don’t wanna love you just for fun / Soon as I felt your touch / Feet just left the ground,” he sings on the song’s opening verse, describing the happy, loving feeling.

In the song’s accompanying visual, directed by Andrew Donoho, 6lack is seen walking around the city, slowly levitating as the lyrics continue. People around him are also seen levitating, as the celebrate love with their special someones.

“‘Since I Have A Lover,’ the title track, is the highs of having a healthy love, compressed into song format,” 6lack said in a statement. “It’s a note to self, that I’m no longer who I was or where I was, and that there’s a bigger purpose starting to reveal itself in the things I create. We are simply pushing love, because it’s needed. The verses are short and serve as a moment of acknowledgment for how I feel, and the chorus is less of a lyric and more of a feeling. It’s an exhale, it’s relief, it’s trust, it’s happiness, it’s surreal.”

6lack Drops Title Track From Upcoming Album “Since I Have A Lover”

The anticipation for a new album from 6lack is high. The Atlanta singer has remained lowkey in the past five years since dropping, East Atlanta Love Letter. His sophomore album showcased his depth as an artist and his growth while paying homage to his hometown. Future, Offset, J. Cole, and Khalid served as the sole guest appearances on the project and it evidently set the standard for his follow-up.

However, 6lack’s reclusive persona extends to his musical output. He isn’t releasing music regularly like many of his contemporaries but he held fans over in recent years with 6pc Hot EP and singles like “Rent Free.” In the past few weeks, the rapper’s geared up for the release of his next studio album. On Valentine’s Day, he began the campaign by getting the infamous Water Boys of Atlanta to sell flowers instead. Then, he teased the title of the project when he unveiled the acronyms S.I.H.A.L.

6lack – Since I Have A Lover

This morning, 6lack confirmed that the acronym for his new album stands for Since I Have A Lover. With a March 24th release date set, he unveiled the titular track of his upcoming effort. His latest song is led by gentle guitar strings and 6lack’s woozy melodies as he details comfort and love. “Since I have a lover, no more lonely nights / The type of love that you supply, can’t televise,” he sings.

“‘Since I Have a Lover,’ the title track, is the highs of having a healthy love, compressed into song format,” 6LACK said of the song in a statement. It’s an exhale, it’s relief, it’s trust, it’s happiness, it’s surreal.” Check out the song above.

Second time around, gettin’ on the gown gotta say a vow

6lack Announced The Official Release Date For ‘Since I Have A Lover’ And The Album’s First Single

Atlanta rap crooner 6lack — still pronounced “Black” — hasn’t exactly been out of the spotlight for the past couple of years, but his musical output has been restricted mainly to collaborations. He’s appeared on new singles from artists like Saba, Eli Derby, Kaash Paige, and Jessie Reyez, but the only solo work he dropped recently was a cover of Mos Def’s “Umi Says” for Apple.

That changed earlier this month when he teamed up with Water Boyz N The Hood to hand out roses on Valentine’s Day (true to his romantic persona) and appeared to tease new music. Then, this week, he confirmed that his next project would be called S.I.H.L. and have a March release date while showing off a few tidbits from it on his website.

Today, he unveiled the meaning behind the title’s acronym and previewed the first single from the project while sharing its official release date. S.I.H.L. stands for Since I Have a Lover, and it’s due on March 24. The single, which bears the same title, will drop on March 1. The preview promises a change of pace from the usually downtempo 6lack, with an upbeat guitar riff giving a more optimistic vibe than most of his prior output. Considering he dropped his last album, East Atlanta Love Letter, nearly five years ago, it makes sense that his life has taken him in new directions, and the music certainly appears to reflect that.

Since I Have a Lover is due 3/24 via LVRN/Interscope. You can pre-order it here.

6lack Announces His Third Album ‘SIHL’ After Teasing Fans With New Music

SZA isn’t the only alternative R&B singer looking to make a triumphant return to music this year. 6lack (real name Ricardo Valdez Valentine Jr.) took to social media to tease that a new project from him titled, S.I.H.L., is coming soon.

Thanks to the assistance of Atlanta’s Water Boyz, the singer got the word about his musical return by having them hand out red roses with a brief note, “See you soon, Love 6lack,” attached.

Not much is known about the album, only that the album is slated to drop sometime next month, thanks to the cover image posted on his label’s website. 6lack took a page out of Kendrick Lamar’s promotional book by creating a dropbox folder with bits and pieces of his forthcoming album. However, his upcoming album is hidden behind a password.

The songwriter’s last album, East Atlanta Love Letter, was released in 2018, just two short years after his critically acclaimed debut studio album Free 6lack in 2016. Although the Atlanta native hasn’t completely stepped away from music. Since dropping his sophomore album, 6lack has made guest appearances on several songs, including “Forever” by Jessie Reyez, “Miss My Dawgs” by Kaash Paige, “Nothing More To Say” by Calvin Harris, and “Lately” by Eli Derby, to name a few.

S.I.H.L. is set to be released in March 2023 via LVRN/Interscope. To pre-order, click here.

6LACK Announces Long-Awaited Third Album, “S.I.H.A.L.”

6LACK just unorthodoxly announced his next album, presumably titled S.I.H.A.L., set for release in March of this year. Moreover, it’s been a long time since he’s dropped a full-length, which he seemed to acknowledge. While he didn’t completely disappear from releases, he took some creative moves to promote his return. For example, he took the Kendrick route of including a Dropbox-like folder on his Instagram with his third album, albeit password-protected. Overall, it seems like the Atlanta-based artist is prepping fans for a big return.

Also, he engaged in another creative promotional campaign on Valentine’s Day just a few days ago. In fact, he enlisted the help of Atlanta’s Water Boyz and turned them to the Flower Boyz (no diss to Tyler). Moreover, they went around the city and handed out roses to people on the streets or going about their day. With the rose, they delivered a note that read, “See you soon, Love 6LACK.” Actually, it’s quite wholesome and entertaining to see people’s reactions, as some know who he is while others are confused. In addition to his vague promotion on his website (and his label website indicating the March release date), it seems much more personal than the typical rollout.

6LACK Teases New Album In Atlanta

Furthermore, not much else is known about the album apart from those details. Moreover, the album title S.I.H.A.L. comes from promotional material of the Valentine’s Day flower giveaway on his Twitter page. However, it should be noted that other publications reported the album title to be S.I.H.L., so even the details we do know are a bit murky. Still, this will be 6LACK’s first album since 2018’s East Atlanta Love Letter. That project came out two years after his critically acclaimed debut, Free 6LACK.

Meanwhile, if you’re looking for recent jams to hold you over, he recently collaborated with Jacquees and Summer Walker on the former’s “Tell Me It’s Over.” Also, he appeared on the Christmastime R&B superstar project, Home For The Holidays 2 alongside dvsn, Summer, and more. Overall, fans are finally getting new music from a beloved and accomplished crooner after five years. With that in mind, stick around on HNHH for the latest on 6LACK and his comeback album.

6lack Teamed Up With Atlanta’s Water Boyz To Deliver Flowers To Fans, And Seemingly Tease New Music

It appears a new era of 6lack may soon be upon us. Today (February 14), fans noticed a countdown on his website, seemingly teasing an announcement this coming weekend. While we’re excited for the possibility of new 6lack music, the elusive R&B superstar is bringing joy to others in a different way.

This Valentine’s Day, 6lack teamed up with the Water Boyz N The Hood of Atlanta for a special project. Over the years, the Water Boyz N The Hood have become a household name in Atlanta, known for their entrepreneurial spirit, as they sell bottled water on the side of the road to raise money to achieve their goals. Today, 6lack and the Water Boyz handed out free roses to raise spirits on Valentine’s Day.

In one of the videos, each of the Water Boyz are wearing red hoodies that read “Flower Boyz.” They are seen handing out flowers with messages from 6lack.

Some of the messages read “See you soon, Love 6lack,” catching some of the recipients by surprise.

Though 6lack himself isn’t seen in the clips, fans felt his kindness from afar, creating more anticipation for new music.

But while we wait, you can see some of the heartwarming moments above.

Jessie Reyez And 6lack Reminisce On Romantic Memories In The Music Video For ‘Forever’

Jessie Reyez released a new music video for her collaboration with 6lack, “Forever,” as a Facebook exclusive today. The track appears on her recent album, Yessie, finds Reyez reminiscing about someone who isn’t in her life anymore.

“‘Cause sometimes somebody loves somebody / But that body don’t love ’em back / And it’s easy to say that you didn’t know / You didn’t know what you had,” she sings.

6lack enters on the chorus, as the duo’s vocals blend perfectly together. He then gets his own verse while Reyez lip-syncs his lines in the background. “I want you to stay, save the moment / Gotta put it on the camcorder,” he notes. “You could be happy, you should be happy / Long as you here with me.”

Directed by Dane Collison, Reyez and 6lack dance around in a car as old-school recorded camcorder footage (as fittingly mentioned in the lyric) is spliced in of each of them in the woods, adding to the chill vibes of it all. They also appear in matching baseball caps, which is pretty fun.

“You ever meet someone and just know they’re going to be in your life forever?…” Reyez captioned the video on a Facebook post.

Jacquees Opens Up On “Sincerely For You” Ft. 21 Savage, Summer Walker, 6LACK & More

The self-proclaimed “King of R&B” took some time to evolve as a man and artist, and now Jacquees is back with a new album. The R&B crooner has been actively involved in the industry for over a decade, but the last few years have been quiet about new albums. Today (December 16), Jacquees adds his name to the long list of New Music Friday releases and shares Sincerely For You. The record hosts features from artists like 21 Savage, Summer Walker, 6LACK, and Dreezy.
