Ice Spice Speaks On Signing To A Major Label

Ice Spice recently sat down with Billboard for an interview, where she detailed the process of signing to a major label. Moreover, the “Princess Diana” hitmaker is currently signed in a partnership deal with 10K Projects and Capitol Records. Despite the usual connotations of a big label deal like that, the Bronx star actually knew her worth and fought for the best deal possible. After all, especially for rising and viral stars, they can get sucked into a deal that ultimately screws them over. However, as she recalled, the decision came after a long process of establishing her potential and scoping out her best possible path.

“I met with a bunch of labels and stuff like that,” Ice Spice began her breakdown of her signing process. “I just felt like 10K and Capitol was the good fit for me.” In addition to her own remarks, her manager James Rosemond Jr. elaborated on the process. “You don’t want to just take any deal, and deals came to her, you know?” he stated. “There was production deals, 360 deals, but it was deals that I know that it can be better.

Ice Spice Fought For Her Worth When Signing To A Major Label

“In order to get a better deal, you have to go out and do it yourself,” Rosemond Jr. continued. “And that comes with us putting money where our mouth is and we did that with ‘Munch.‘ We rolled it out independently ourselves. We leveraged the success and the hype around that, and we got the best deal, you know? Now she owns her masters, she owns her publishing, and not a lot of people can say that.” His words ring especially true in a time during which artists like Ice Spice are exploited for their meteoric rise.

“I’m still learning a lot, to be honest,” Ice Spice added. “Recording used to be very, very stressful for me. But now, I’m getting more comfortable with it. Like, over the past year, I would say I’ve been more comfortable. Learning to record while learning songwriting processes and everything was a lot, but I’m so happy I put in that time and that work, you know what I’m saying?” For more news and the latest updates on the Princess of rap, keep checking in with HNHH.

Internet Money Brings Together Roddy Ricch & Kodak Black On “I Remember”

Internet Money enlisted the powerhouse duo of Roddy Ricch and Kodak Black for their first offering of the year, “I Remember.” Taz Taylor teased the single earlier this week before Roddy and Yak’s respective teams confirmed that the two have a monstrous collaboration on the way. Internet Money layer the rumbling 808-heavy production with performances from Roddy and Yak that reflect their come-ups and getting it out of the mud. Internet Money and Taz Taylor truly found a sweet spot for the two artists.

The elasticity in Roddy’s melodies adds urgency to the harsh realities that he faced in the streets on the Internet Money single. Meanwhile, Kodak Black holds it down with an autotune-laden performance that feels like something out of his back catalog. Produced by Dyryk, DJ Showtime, Nick Mira, Nash, Cxdy, E-Trou, and Taz Taylor, Internet Money brings out the best of the two artists on the record. Surprisingly, this only marks Roddy Ricch and Kodak Black’s second collaboration after previously joining forces with 21 Savage on “Hibachi.

Internet Money Sets The Tone On Roddy Ricch & Kodak Black-Assisted Single

The Taz Taylor-founded collective continues to maintain and raise the high standard it delivered when it was formed in 2015. Over the past few years, Internet Money’s collaborations with the leading figures of the new school, such as Roddy Ricch and Kodak Black, have cemented their sound and birthed some historic moments in rap. “I Remember” in a tone-setting anthem and we’re certainly anticipating that they’ll have the summer on lock, once again.

Last year, Internet Money came through with the six-song EP, We All We Got. The effort brought Internet Money together with a handful of collaborators including Yeat, Lil Tecca, Ken Carson, Lucki, and Lil Yachty. Hopefully, “I Remember” leads the campaign for an official follow-up to 2020’s B4 The Storm. Check their new single above.

Quotable Lyrics
They never know what they worth, I let a ghost on they curb
In the projects, I’m Malcolm X, I’m froze
Keep a few shooters at my shows, some with me, some out the door
Back, pour a face in the Rolls, stay outside, and I ride with big old five,

The Bronx native, who originally emerged from obscurity onto the mainstream landscape in 2018 with her debut EP, Free, is building anticipation to the release of her first project under a new label situation later this year. Blending soft and soothing vocals with a deeply eerie R&B production, “Me, Myself & You” is an undeniable first impression from the new sensation to a brand new audience who’ve acquired an interest in Morales through her high-profile relationship with Trippie Redd. It’s a psychological thriller, Nolan Riddle-directed video shows a drunk-in-love Morales wandering an empty mansion with illusions of her former lover (Redd) in photographs driving her crazy as she inquiries about where their love went wrong after committing a heinous act of revenge.

“Pour a glass of wine and light your blunt,” Morales tweets with the clip of the visual on Twitter with a clicking champagne glasses emoji.

Previewed a trailer back in January, “Me, Myself & You” is Morales’s first single release since 2020, when she released the three previous tracks, “Right Away,” “Feels Right” and “Elevated.”

Trippie Redd Signs Global Deal With 10K Projects Label

Multi-platinum selling rapper Trippie Redd, who began his career as one of the first signings to 10K Projects, one of the most successful independent record labels in the world, has signed a long-term deal that will keep him at the label for years to come.

Since his groundbreaking 2017 debut album, A Love Letter to You, Trippie Redd has continually defied genre boundaries, embedding his melodic take on rap with frenetic elements of rock-and-roll and heavy metal. In just five years, the artist has set a new standard for prolificness, releasing 4 studio albums, 6 mixtapes, 8 EPs and almost 3 dozen singles, amassing 15 Platinum and 8 Gold certifications in the process.

“We launched 10K Projects as a label where artists have complete creative freedom and the support to realize their vision,” said the label’s founder and CEO, Elliot Grainge. “Trippie Redd has thrived under these conditions, releasing a lifetime’s worth of music in just five short years and becoming a singular voice in contemporary music. I know I speak for everyone at the label when I say I am so honored and humbled to be able to continue our extraordinary partnership with Trippie for years to come.”

Trippie Redd commented, “Elliot signed me when I was 16. From the start he’s always pushed me to do everything on my own terms which is the most important thing to me. I’m grateful to have had him as a partner for this long and excited to make more hits with 10K and keep growing together.”

Current 10K Projects Co-Presidents Zach Friedman and Tony Talamo commented, “Trippie Redd is that very rare artist who is always pushing the boundaries of music genres, always surprising, always challenging. The fact that his unique approach has also been highly successful on a commercial level, just highlights what an exceptionally rare creative force he is.”

Peter Jideonwo, Trippie Redd’s manager, on the signing; “We’re grateful to continue to make history with Elliot and the 10K team, Zach, Tony, Molly, Sam & Hannah, through Trippie’s upcoming releases. Super proud of everything we’ve accomplished so far and I can’t wait for the unbelievable years to come.”

Trippie Redd Celebrates Signing A $30 Million Record Contract With 10k Projects

Trippie Redd has already had a pretty impressive career so far for someone routinely overlooked by the music industry establishment, but if his latest social media posts turn out to be true, he’s about to have his biggest year ever. The Canton, Ohio rapper posted a pair of Instagram updates celebrating his latest career achievements: raising his performance fee to nearly a half-million dollars and signing a new recording contract allegedly worth millions.

“Just signed to @elliot for 30million,” he wrote in the caption of one post, referring to Elliot Grainge’s 10K Projects. “Now it’s time to start dropping ALLTY5 songs.” “ALLTY5” appears to be an acronym referring to Trippie’s popular mixtape series A Love Letter To You, which has four installments to date. And while that $30 million looked impressive at first glance, some fans were skeptical, prompting Trippie to clarify some of the deal’s terms in the comments. “Prob locked in for 10 years,” one dubious commenter wrote. “3 albums for 3 years,” Trippie replied.

Trippie had previously gloated about his booking fee going up, writing that he currently receives “250k – 400k each show that I’m booked for.” Considering that he hasn’t exactly been a favorite of corporate America, that figure may seem astonishing but it makes sense considering how long he’s been a festival favorite and a fixture of the Rolling Loud scene.

Of course, it’s important to remember that record deals aren’t like NBA contracts; it’s highly unlikely anyone just handed Trippie $30 million. That’s probably just the money the label is willing to invest in recording and promoting his next three albums with the obvious requirement that he recoup whatever’s he’s advanced in order to get paid on the backend. Still, that’s a surefire sign of the label’s confidence in Trippie — which makes sense, considering he’s 10k’s best-established artist.
